{Mid-Eclipse: Tag Leo} Isabelle stared at her reflection in the mirror. She let the cool water flow into her hands and drowned her face in its cool contents, before staring back into her own emerald eyes. She couldn’t take it anymore. The compliments that Leo had fed her with were all empty just as Embry’s had been. But this hurt a thousand times more. Her heart ached and her world felt crushed. She couldn’t even find an escape in her music. No song could drown out her tears, or the frustration she had with herself for falling for the kid in the first place. Heroes just didn’t exist and she was going to have to come to terms with that fact.
She heard her name being called and stuffed her last pair of socks into the duffle bag that lay open on her bed. She was unable to fit pajamas but she’d made room enough for a few outfits, undergarments and sneakers. With a quick zip she flung the bag over her shoulder and walked down the stairs. She ignored her fathers mumbling, he was too drunk to be understood by any human. Isabelle looked at him, just as a beer mug flew through the air. It hit her right upon her left eyebrow and she cried out in pain. Reaching up she touched the wound, and a red sticky liquid covered the tip of her finger as more tears filled her eyes.
He was ranting now, spewing word vomit about the room. He cussed at her, and asked where she was going before reminding her that no one cared. It was something she already knew, and didn’t need to hear for confirmation. She shook her head in protest even though she believed in what he said. Even Leo whom seemed so perfect had ducked out on her just as he promised he wouldn’t. A weekend of unanswered calls was all she needed, she’d waited for much longer before, but that had proved fruitless. She knew better now.
“I’m leaving! You wont have to look at me anymore!” she yelled in tears. Her father pushed her, and Isabelle’s small frame made a loud clud sound as she hit the wall. She managed to maneuver out of the way of the coming back hand, and flew open the front door dashing out into the darkness. She made her way to the side of the house to a small shed where he kept his liquor. She tugged at the bottle of vodka, and something else called Peach Shnapps, and pushed them into her loaded bag. If she got alcohol poisoning so be it, anything was better than this.
Isabelle pulled out a sock and dabbed at her forehead where she now had a bruise and a small gash. Re-zippering the duffle bag she threw it back over her shoulder and trampled into the forest toward her favorite spot, the clearing. Once there she took out the bottle with the caramel colored liquid and chugged what she could down before throwing her head back to look at the stars. Loosing her balance she leaned on the tree stump and drank away at her problems.
The girl was singing mary had a little lamb when she heard a noise that startled her.

Leo looked down at his cell phone seeing the missed calls he had from Issy. He knew he was supposed to see her this weekend or at least called her, but he hadn't made it. He had just found that there were other wolves out there and had been through quite a lot of readjustment trying to meet the other wolves and learning the legends as well as how he was now a part of a pack. Being the only son in his family of sisters, he now found he had many brothers, and was no longer alone.
Despite his reasoning for being away he knew that wouldn't make Issy any less angry at him for not contacting her and basically going missing this weekend. He had to make it up to her. He knew he needed to apologize and take her out somewhere nice. Get her to forgive him, even if she wouldnt understand his reasoning for being away. He hoped that she wasn't going to be too mad. Maybe she was busy with school work. Or so he could only hope.
When he reached her house however, he became immediately concerned. Her father answered the door, reeking of alcohol and started laughing about how she'd run off and was never coming back. Leo didn't stick around to hear the man's lame excuses for why she left, Leo just knew that he needed to fine her as soon as possible, and stop her from going.
Leo took off into a sprint looking for her. He checked the beach and the main roads of lapush before heading out into the woods. If she wanted to be alone he knew that was probably where she would go. He didn't know how long he had been out looking or how long it had been since she had left her home, but finally he caught her scent, even before seeing her and after moving past a few more trees he spotted her in a clearing.
"Issy! Thank god! Are you alright!" He said slowing down as he reached her.

Isabelle tapped her fingers on her jeans, as she sat Indian style, her back against the tree stump. “Mary had a little lamb,” she hiccupped interrupting her singing. She looked toward the tall figure that was approaching as the voice filled her with the same warm and fuzzy feeling it always did. She threw her head back to see his face, her emerald eyes catching mostly sky. The stars twinkled like brilliant gems in a velvet black encasement.
With both hands on the moss covered ground she pushed herself up and almost slammed into him before regaining her balance. Her brows furrowed together in anger and she suinted at Leo’s perfect features. She wanted to hate him, but he was too pretty to dislike. Squinting made him look rather funny which helped a very small portion. “You know what, I don’t need your, your…” Isabelle paused searching her brain for the right word. It was like trying to catch butterflies with a sock. “Pity.” She spat the word out after much thought.
Isabelle crossed her arms, fighting the urge to wrap her arms around him and thank her lucky stars that he was okay. Nope, this was a standoff, if he wanted to play Houdini and disappear he was going to need to explain the reappearance.
The girl suddenly remembered the wound above her left eye, and cupped her hand over it to hide what she was running from. This was supposed to be a discussion about how he was a lying no good traitor. She really didn’t know what he had picked over her, but she knew it wasn’t something forgivable like family. She’d spoken to his sister very briefly over the phone, and she had no idea what he was up to either.

It didnt take long for Leo to realize that Issy was drunk. It came as quite a bit of a shock to him, having never imagined seeing her this way, especially not when her father was a drunk and he knew how she felt about him. He wondered how much of her reason for drinking tonight was about him and how much of it was about her father. Leo knew she she would be upset at him for not calling, but it had only been a few days and he wouldn't have guessed it would have pushed her this far.
"Issy, I'm not pitying you..." He said looking up seeing the wound on her head. "What happened to your head? Did your father do that?" Leo said, ready to run back and knock the guy around for laying one hand on his soulmate.
Leo hated seeing the anger in her eyes and even more the withdrawl from him. "Issy I'm sorry I didnt call earlier, I went to your house and then came looking for you...please just talk to me, what happened tonight" He asked, hoping she'd let him in instead of just pushing him away and staying mad. He also hoped she wouldnt push for a reasoning of why he'd been away this weekend. He didn't know how he'd even begin to tell her about that.

Her eyes softened immediately as he said her name. Her posture relaxed again and she looked up with a slight pout now instead of the heated frown. What was it with those eyes of his and the sheer proximity of him being inches from her that made her swoon? If anyone asked she couldn’t tell them, she could only lamely admit that it was love at first sight and every time she was near him she wanted to be in his arms.
Isabelle took a deep breath and turned the small gash that was slightly running against the line of her brow toward him. “My dad lost his temper again, this time it was a mug.” she admitted. It had to be the first time she had ever admitted aloud that her father was abusive to the point of physically causing wounds. She hid most of them with cover up, and long sleeve shirts, or hoodies.
She kept her arms crossed out of fear they would search for the heat his body gave off. Isabelle was determined to show that she didn’t need anyone despite the obvious requirement of Leo in her life. “Please don’t make me go back,” she said her eyes bright and her eyelashes clumped together.
He had wanted her to talk, and now she had even though she wasn’t sure he deserved it, but than again she never had explained what happened with her and Embry. She suddenly felt bad for thinking so deep into a weekend vacation he had taken from her. Maybe she had become to clingy. “I understand,” she hiccupped, “if you need space from me, just tell me next time okay?” she asked looking to the ground now.

Leo watched as Issy's posture in front of him started to relax, as he hoped that she was forgiving him for his unexplained absence. Leo's own muscles howeever soon tightened up as he heard what had happened to her. Her father had thrown a mug at her head. The thought alone made Leo want to rip him to shreds. It also sent the surge of anger through him that he knew could easily be followed by a phase right in front of her. But he had to calm himself down. He briefly thought that maybe if he had something to drink like she obviously had, that maybe that would relax him enough to keep his cool.
Leo stared at Issy, into her eyes, trying to gather his center. She was everything to him, changing now would only hurt her, which he could never do. He had to focus on that in order to control himself, to keep himself from changing. He had now learned why it was that he felt so strongly about her, he had learned from the others all about imprinting. The feelings he saw in his new brothers mimiced his own for Issy. It was a bond stronger than anything and he hoped it meant that she felt the same way for him. It was a bit unclear to him how the imprintee felt as he could only feel the other wolves thoughts and how they experienced it.
"I'm sorry Issy" Leo finally managed to get the words out, having been able to calm himself through his focus on her. He hoped he could maintain that calm until he was away from her. He shook his head as she talked about not going back there. "You're not going back, you're staying with me tonight, okay? I promise I'll keep you safe."
Leo then felt incredibly guilty as she spoke about the weekend he had been away. He should have called, contacted her somehow, and she was now trying to give him permission to stay away as long as he told her. She was being far kinder to him than he deserved. He went up to her and put his arms around her. "I dont want time away from you, or space or anything like that, not unless its what you want?" He asked her. "I'm sorry I didnt call....I didn't plan on being away from you, I just kind of got caught up in things..but thats no excuse" He said knowing he was a horrible boyfriend.

Isabelle watched Leo for a response on having to return to her father. She couldn’t see any logical reason that he would tell her to return for, other than the obvious lack of sleeping quarters. But she had the blanket and could easily roll up a pair of the jeans she had brought to make a pillow. It wouldn’t be the most comfy of spots, but it would due until she could head over to Newton’s and buy a tent. She’d stolen the money from her Dads wallet, he would be too drunk to realize in the morning, and she looked at it as child support.
She continued to stand there looking pitifully at the ground as if it would cease any of the pain Isabelle had felt when she thought he’d left her for good. Seeing Embry with Noel, had only glorified her lack of confidence that her father had already butchered on numerous occasions. And to think that Leo could possibly do the same was heart wrenching.
When Leo’s arms wrapped themselves around her she could only let out a sigh. She felt more at ease in his arms sometimes to the point she could easily crawl up and go to bed. But with the liquor coursing through her she wasn’t in the mood for sleep. “It’s okay,” that was all she could manage to say. Too afraid too cause an argument that would permit him to leave. She took a step back and out of his arms, but quickly took his hand in hers. “Come on have a drink with me,” she smiled. The stuff didn’t taste all that great and hated the fact she was even drinking it. But it left her feeling fuzzy, and took away all the bad thoughts.

Leo was relieved that despite her anger and his shortcomings as a boyfriend, she had accepted his arms as comfort right now. It did wonders for him to keep his control. "I dont ever want you going back there with him..." He said softly, not sure it was a reasonable request with him being her father but knowing that Leo would not feel comfortable anytime soon with knowing Issy was alone with him.
"Its not okay" He told her, gently stroking the back of her hair in a soothing matter. "I will make up for this weekend. I'll make it better" He promised her. He couldnt risk losing her.
When she asked him to come drink with her, Leo fought off the urge to tell her she shouldnt be drinking right now. But he couldnt honestly think of a reason she shouldnt. She had been through hell tonight at the hands of her father. She deserved something to make the pain go away even if it was just a temporary fix. He also knew that if continued seeing the mark he had left on her, it would be trying on his control. A drink might just be what they both needed to calm their nerves right now. And besides he was here now, he'd keep her safe and from doing anything that might put her in danger. He gave a slight nod, agreeing to her offer. "Okay"

She smiled when he said he never wanted her to go back. That made two of them. If she could stay away from that man forever it would be too soon, it only angered her that it had been her mothers home. She shouldn’t have to leave, Isabelle was going to need to look up the possibility of a will. Anything that would contain her possible last minute settlings, all older folks had one of those right?
His hands on her hair made her snuggle deeper into his arms without thought. He was like her traveling happy place, wherever he would go, with his permission she was sure to follow.
Isabelle made her way out of his arms half-heartedly and walked over to the large duffel bag at the foot of the tree stump. It was a wonder she was able to carry all this way in the first place. She unzipped the bag and placed 3 big bottles on the ground. Stepping back she smiled sheepishly. It was a lot, and she’d barely made a dent. She picked up one and shook it, “this one tastes best,” she admitted.
With that said she pushed with the palms of her small hands lightly on his chest, directing him to sit down. Once they were sitting down she passed him the bottle, sat in his lap and snuggled into his shoulder.

Seeing her smile, even if briefly made Leo’s heart beat faster once again. Any change in her emotions always effected him strongly, and now he knew why. He wondered if she could feel it too, if that’s why despite everything she had been through this weekend, now that they were reunited again, she was able to find the ability to smile, through it all. She now seemed very accepting of his embrace and his touch. Although he was glad that it looked like she hadn’t stayed mad for long, he felt guilty still, not thinking he really deserved her forgiveness quite this easily. He had upset her and it was hard for him to forgive himself for doing something like that.
Leo watched her walk over to the duffel bag and pull out the three big bottles. He wondered how she had managed to sneak those out, and whether she had been planning to drink them all herself had he not shown up. He was grateful he had, if for no other reason than to make sure she didn’t get alcohol poisoning. Luckily none of the bottles were very empty yet.
Leo followed her direction well, sitting down as she pushed on his chest gently. He kept one hand on her arm, keeping the contact with her even as he sat, overjoyed as she sat in his lap with the bottle. He put his arm around her as he accepted the bottle from her. After opening it up he took a swig of of it. This wasn’t just beer or wine, it was strong. But at least that meant it would do the job quickly and hopefully keep his anger down so he wouldn’t risk losing control around her. Leaning his head back he took another long drink before putting the cap back on and setting it down on the ground within reach of them both. “How long have you been out here?”

Isabelle loved the way he seemed to conform to her actions. Like they way he sank so easily onto the ground, as if he knew what she wanted before she had even applied a small amount of pressure. If she would have tried the same action though, she would have easily made that move look much less graceful. He was so perfect, from his physical self to emotional, and back again to the side that always knew how to comfort her, whether he knew it or not.
She smiled when he placed his arm around her, and watched as he took a drink, wondering if he’d make the same face she had. She tucked her head into his shoulder and hiccupped. “Oh I don’t know, hour and a half maybe?” she asked, as if he would know. In reality she had no idea what time it was when she left, let alone what time it was now, so she just assumed.
Issy pulled back a little and followed the seams of his shirt with the tip of her finger, tracing the sleeve to the collar. “Where did you go?” she asked unaware of whether he’d tell her or not. However she was completely aware she deserved a bit of an explanation even if it was only part of one. “Did you have fun?”
Isabelle didn’t want to admit her weekend was horrible even before the run in with her father. There was no use, especially if he’d had a blast. Instead of letting her mind sink into negativity she played idly with his hair, entwining it in her gingers and curling it around.

Leo frowned slightly as she mentioned how long she had been out here. He leaned his head to the side slightly so that it rested on top of hers where it lay on his shoulder. “I’m sorry I didn’t find you before then” He said, wishing that she hadn’t been out here alone all that time. He knew it was his place to be here. She should have been able to count on him to be there, not just an hour and a half late, after she already got more comfort from a bottle of alcohol than he was able to give her. It was no wonder she was already feeling the drink enough to be singing when he got here.
Leo looked down as she pulled back, watching her small delicate hand tracing the seams of his shirt. He could feel himself being drawn to her even more, thinking about how easily she could rip off the shirt he was wearing and he could take her right there. As desperately as he wanted to he knew he’d never act on his urges, not tonight. She was in a vulnerable place, and under the influence. He would never want her decisions to be clouded that she might later regret them.
He averted his eyes, looking down to the bottle as he heard Issy ask him where he went and if he had fun. How did you tell your girlfriend that you went off to meet other werewolves and learn about being part of a pack? “I just met up with some of the guys” He said, debating adding that her friend Quil was there, he didn’t know if that would help his case or just get his pack brother in trouble, he decided to leave it out for now, not wanting her mad at anyone else. “It was okay…but I would have had more fun with you…I did miss you”

Isabelle smiled into his shoulder, “It’s o-,” she began, but the small hiccup stole the word. She sighed and tried again. “It’s okay, I had Monte,” she said proudly pointing toward her large black duffel bag that sat looking over stuffed and lumpy. A small gray and white stuffed animals paw stuck out from one of the large side pockets. She brought her fingers back to continued following the lines his seems had made on the t-shirt.
“Oh,” the girl said in a small voice. Unlike it normally did, the voice didn’t seem to carry the timid sound interlaced, but it was still small. Almost fragile. It seemed she had surpassed the point of where she could be embarrassed. Which was a large feat, at least for her.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” she said dismissively, but with a smile still on her face. She couldn’t stay mad at him if she tried. Which was a mystery to her. She pushed a few rogue strands back behind her ear and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Missed you more,” she grinned and stuck out her tongue. She tilted her head just slightly, as if she were examining him. “You know what?” she asked. “You’re pretty,” she laughed, her emerald eyes curious.

Leo shook his head as she mentioned that it was okay that he wasn’t there, because she had Monte, stuffed animal. He felt completely guilty. “No, its not okay, you should’ve had me…I should’ve been here earlier” He told her feeling like the worst person in the world. He was supposed to be there for her, to protect her, and he had left her alone in the woods for hours before he found her.
He heard the sound of her voice as she responded with a soft Oh. Her voice sounded so delicate as if he was already breaking her by his inattention to her. He wondered how he’s possibly ever be able to explain that he wasn’t with her because he was finding a pack of wolves that he belonged to. It was a moment that had brought him comfort for the first time in months (other than when he was with her). He was so much less alone, but while he was getting reassurance, she was feeling abandoned by him and he could see that on her face.
Leo watched her dismiss it with a smile as she kissed his cheek. He knew it was just the alcohol and that if she wasn’t feeling a buzz that she’d probably be crying right now, or yelling at him. He grinned softly at her as she said she missed him more. “Not possible” He told her, now knowing about the imprinting and knowing his feelings made her the center of his world. He laughed as she called him pretty. “Well you’re the most beautiful woman in the universe” He told her, leaning forward and giving her a soft kiss on the lips.

Isabelle only shrugged as he came to the realization that he should have been there sooner. After all, she would have been there for him the moment he called, it was sad really. At least that’s how she felt. But, boys were all the same, her mom always said that too. But she wasn’t around now for her to be able to ask further questions, now that she finally understood what the woman had meant all those years ago. It was a pity her mother never spoke of love, she would have liked to know if the burning feeling that occurred when Leo was away was caused by it.
The girl giggled at the compliment, and the lightest shade of pink invaded her cheeks. She kissed him back before digging her head snuggly into the comfy spot in the center of his well built chest. “Will you stay with me?” she asked, and pointed to a pile of materials. Her failed attempt to put up her mother’s old tent laid in an unorganized heap. “Building tents really isn’t my for-“ hiccup, “Tay,” she said with a meek smile. “My mom was much better, and she told better stories.” Isabelle said with a tone full of remembrance.
“Dad says I look just like her,” she continued, “guess that’s why he hates me so much.” Isabelle said solemnly. In a way it made sense, after all it had to hurt to look at your dead wife everyday in your daughter. No…in truth she didn’t get it, if Leo had past and she had their baby she would never leave its side, it would be her hearts only connection to the world.
“Anywho, you haven’t met every girl in the universe, if you had I’m sure you’d change your mind.” Isabelle smiled despite the self bashing she was putting out there, she knew she was unworthy of his love and that one day he’d realize that too. Until then she’d make the best of it and savor every waking moment she had with him.
