"You think its nice now, but I don't want to take advantage of your guys' kindness" Kele told him, knowing it was true. She felt like she should contribute something to the household. She knew that right now she was still new to them, but if she wanted to stick around, she didnt want to be taking advantage of them. She had always been independent and didnt want to get to the point where she was fully dependent on others now, even if she only paid them back through a little housekeeping. She smiled as he offered his help in moving the couches. "Thanks" She said, thinking it was sweet, and a very typical guy response to want to help the girl with heavy lifting.
She laughed lightly as he told her he'd be watching for her to get cold. then nudged her lightly. She felt so close to him, so comfortable, but her heart still ached knowing her feelings werent how they should be towards her brother. She needed the lust and attraction to go away.
"Okay, I'll have to trust you" She said as he told her it wasnt anything bad. She hoped she'd think it wasnt too, that it wasnt just nothing bad in his eyes. She could think it devastating. She just shook her head as he tried to say how it was worse what he'd breathed around the other men in his life. "It still cant be healthy, maybe I can see if I can pick up a little floor fan for you guys, just to get at least some of the air circulating"
Kele was still worried as he told her how big the secret was and that it had to do with the two of them. They had kissed and she was sure he was ready to tell her they had to just stick to brother and sister. She started chewing on her bottom lip to try to keep it from quivering as she waited to hear what she thought was the inevitable. She didnt understand why he was saying that he was different, she was the one with the inappropriate feelings. She just nodded though. "I wont tell anyone"

When would she realize she wasn’t taking advantage? It was her home, or soon would be. She was part of his family, part of his heart and the other half of his soul . He smiled to her, “You couldn’t take advantage if you tried. Though if you keep cleaning I’m going to start leaving laundry for you.” he winked enjoying the closeness and joviality with her and hoping it would still be there at the end of their walk.
She was so caring Daylan felt his heart swell a little more, “Thanks but you don’t have to, we’ll work with the doors open. The breeze will do us good.” he said not wating her to spend her little money on things they didn’t need, sure the shop was old, but all the holes kept it well ventilated.
Telling Kele this secret and what it meant was the biggest thing Day thought he had ever had to do to date. This secret could tear them apart and send her running from him, something that would break his heart. He knew if he didn’t tell her then he’d be living a lie. “Ok, Kele there’s a legend among my people about our tribe and what we truly are. Its that legend that makes me so sure you aren’t my blood sister.” he said the words more calmly and clearly then he ever believed possible, he couldn’t believe it was him saying it all. “You’re a part of me, but not by blood. You’re a part of my soul, our legends call it imprinting.” he said knowing now he was skipping parts, leaving out parts to keep her from running from him. Admitting to her he was a wolf was going to be a little harder them the imprinting part.

Kele laughed as he suggested he might start leaving laundry for her. "Go ahead, I've got time during the day to run a couple loads" She said with a grin on her face. She knew she wouldnt even mind doing his laundry. Oddly enough she didnt feel that anxious to do her fathers.
She raised an eyebrow as she turned down her offer wondering if he was just trying to be nice or if they really didnt need it. "Well maybe I'll stop by someday and see for myself, and ask Nash what he thinks" She said, figuring his friend might not be as likely to reject her offer.
Kele tried to remain standing looking at him unphased as she knew he was getting ready to tell her whatever it was he wanted to say . She was sure it was some form of distancing them. Either he wanted things to be purely plutonic, or maybe he even thought it was best if she started looking for a new place. She should never have gotten comfortable here, she knew that it was a mistake. But looking into his eyes she didnt see even now how he could possibly hurt her. She still trusted him though her brain was sending up red flags.
Before she knew it he was talking about legends and denying her as his sister again. "This is about that again?" She sighed shaking her head, wondering how long it had taken him to find a legend to disprove their relation. Maybe one that made it impossible for Quileute men to cheat, or that if they did they'd never father children. But when he went on he wasnt talking about their father, he was talking about them. "Imprinting? What does that mean? Day...I've felt like we were a part of each other since we met, but we know the reason why"

“Nah you don’t gotta do my laundry, besides I like the way the shirts look when the colors run.” he joked not wanting to treat her like a maid or a servant, she was his soul mate not domestic help. ‘Seriously, just sit home and watch daytime TV or come down to the garage, I’ll show you how to strip and engine.” he offered knowing he’d love to have her at the garage with him though Nash might not.
Daylan laughed, “Fine some check up on us. Nash will find something to complain about I’m sure.” he joked again at his best friend’s expense. “He’ll tell you its too fume fill and needs painting, watch it he’ll get you doing that too.”
“Imprinting is when two souls find each other. It’s immediate and permanent, its part of the legends of my people.” he said trying to think how to phrase his words so they wouldn’t freak her out or just sound made up and crazy. “Imprinting is about finding your perfect match, sometimes that’s best friends, but usually its life long mates. That’s why you can’t be my sister. As soon as we met I knew I’d imprinted.”
The words came out faster then his brain could catch turning to Kele he stopped walking. “Come lets sit, this isn’t coming out right.” he pulled her down to the drift wood near by and took a few deep breaths. “ Our tribe is descendant from wolves. Wolves are the keepers and guardians of our reservation, there’s a whole pack of us.” He hoped the use of the plural would help her understand what he was having trouble admitting.

"I wouldnt mind if you ever need something done, I mean you're gone all day at work, its a wonder you have any time to do it" Kele told him laughing as he suggested she just sit at home watching daytime tv. "You'll get sick of me doing that soon enough. " She smiled however at the idea of coming down the the garage. "Maybe I'll come visit, I just wouldnt want to get in the way"
Kele laughed as he spoke about how his friend would suggest that the garage needed painting and would try to talk her into that too. "He tries that maybe you'll end up with a pink garage" She smirked jokingly.
The jokes were lost as he spoke about the big secret and the legend he tried to explain to her. "How did you know? " She asked him as he told her of knowing as soon as they met. She knew she felt something with him she'd never felt before, but she had attributed that to a sibling connection. "If it is true, maybe its just best friends with us too, a connection between brother and sister...or it got messed up and is why there's something more between us"
He led her over to the wood and sat her down. She sat beside him trying to take in the information but feeling as if she didnt completely grasp it. She wondered if she'd understand more if her mother had let her grow up on the reservation. If she had known the stories of her people. "Wolves? That's like the tribe mascot? Or like a spirit guide?" She asked, wishing she knew more about this aspect of her heritage.

“I don’t need anything except you to stop fussing over us, you’re a guest not a maid.” He smiled trying to get her to calm down about the cleaning and helping, he didn’t want her for that. “You can come to the garage anytime you like. Come hang out with me, Nash and Trav. You could never be in the way.” he told her firmly.
A pink garage was not what he was going for, nor did he think Nash would agree. “Maybe blue, or green. No pink. Come on we’re dudes.” he joked back with her.
When she question him back Day was glad, he wanted her to be open to talking about this. “I knew, I felt it. In here.” He tapped his heart and smiled been honest and open with exactly how it felt. “It is true. And an imprint is whatever it is to make the imprintee, you, happy, but I don’t think ours is best friends. I feel more. Especially when I kissed you, I felt more complete then then I ever have.
As they sat and he moved on to wolves Day would feel his senses pick up, searching for anyone close by. “Real wolves. Not a mascot or spirit guide. I mean us as wolves, some of the guys from the tribe.” he said honestly feeling so nervous and scared of her reaction that he felt sick to his stomach. “I’m on Kele.” he ventured.

"I can't be a guest forever" Kele said knowing that soon enough they'd get fed up with her not pulling her weight. She hoped if she seemed useful they wouldnt so easily get rid of her like her mother had. She smiled as he invited her to the garage anytime and said how she wouldnt be in the way. "Alright, I'll stop in sometime, but I promise I'll stay back, even if you wont admit that I could get in the way"
"Nah, I think hot pink with a black trim would look hot" Kele grinned jokingly, knowing she'd never do that to them.
Kele gave a small smile as he told her he knew in his heart, that he felt it. She wanted to believe him but thought that all of this sounded crazy. "I'm not an imprintee, I dont even know how to imprint" She told him. She looked down as he mentioned feeling more when they kissed. "I felt that way too" She admitted embarrassed. "But we shouldnt have...anytime I'm with you, I want to be closer to you...kissing you made me happy, but I dont know if that makes it right, it just means we have to decide if we care about being wrong" She said finding it all hard to believe.
As he spoke about wolves, and confirmed that they were real and guys from the tribe she felt stunned and confused and in shock among with a million other feelings she wasn't sure had been named yet in the dictionary. "You're....you think you're a wolf?"

“Nah trust me, we’re used to having Trav around, you’ll be a pleasure compared to his inquisitive little fingers.” Day smiled knowing he liked having Travis there, but would love having Kele there more.
Daylan laughed as she suggested the colors, he could almost picture Nash’s face at working in that monstrosity, he wasn’t too happy about it either. “Lets channel those creative waves into something less big, maybe you can paint the walls at home.” he suggested not wanting to completely put her off anything she wanted to do.
Explaining this was not going well, Day could tell she wasn’t believing him at all. “You don’t have to know, its just something that happens. Its something you feel and not just when we kiss. Its exactly what I felt when I first met you, I knew it there and then. When I kiss you it only enforces it.” he told her slowly trying to get his words to sink in and make sense to her like the feelings did to him. “Its not wrong Kele, we’re not brother and sister we’re soul mates that’s why kissing feels so right. It a complete feeling in our souls. Even when we’re together I feel it, just more when I kiss you or touch you.” he smiled at her hoping she’d see his feelings in his smile and bright eyes.
As he spoke about wolves, and confirmed that they were real and guys from the tribe she felt stunned and confused and in shock among with a million other feelings she wasn't sure had been named yet in the dictionary. "You're....you think you're a wolf?"
“No I am a wolf. Well not all the time but I can change into one. It’s a tradition in our whenever danger is near or the tribe is threatened it taps some of the kids and we become the protectors.” He told her proudly, whatever else bugged him about been a wolf or explaining it Daylan was still proud of it. “Kele this is why its so important to keep it a secret even from the others in the tribe, they wouldn’t all believe the legends.”

"Yeah but in a couple years he'll probably be picking up the wrench and helping you guys out, its just some on the job training" Kele said, knowing she wouldnt be surprised at all if Nash's son ended up working there with them too. She thought Travis was adorable, always having liked kids.
Kele laughed as he suggested she channel her creativity elsewhere. "Alright, alright, you just tell me what does need doing and I'll be happy to help" She told him.
Kele listened as Day spoke trying to be open minded and let what he was saying really get in, despite her confusion. "So, you're saying its some kind of phenomenon, that occured when we met?" She said trying to figure it out "And it means we're meant to be together?" She asked knowing it was what she wanted in her heart but not sure it was meant to be. "Maybe it did get it wrong...maybe we're siblings and soul mates" She said softly, knowing her heart couldnt deny that she felt it too. "I feel something special with you too"
Kele got a little worried as she heard Daylan confirm that he was a wolf (at least in his mind). She briefly considered that he might be delusional. Or wondered if this was a cultural difference that he believed he had the spirit of an animal inside of him. She just didnt know how it was possible that he thought he was a wolf. "You change into one..." She repeated. Her eyes were wide as she shook her head. "Daylan...I wont tell anyone but I'm not sure I believe it...people don't just change into animals...maybe you need to talk to someone"

Daylan smiled and nodded at her words knowing it was very possible that Trav would be working with them one day, though of course he wanted more for the boy then been a grease monkey on the Rez. “Yea at the moment he just likes to play in the dirt.” he laughed.
The laughter that escape his lips as she offered to help again was genuine and friendly, they’d talked around in a circle and still she won. He shook his head. “How about I take a rain check on that and you really take it easy.” he told her.
A phenomena wasn’t exactly how he’d put it but he listened as she question then spoke. “It’s a connection, a deep true connection of two souls. Its supposed to be meant for furthering the tribe.” He said sheepishly and blushed a little bringing up that part with her wasn’t supposed to be part of this first conversation, but it slipped out. “It doesn’t get it wrong, this feeling doesn’t make mistakes. Its like telling your soul it made a mistake.” he told her. “If just been siblings is what makes you happy then it’ll make me happy too, but I don’t think that’s what either of us really want.”
There was more laughter as Kele suggested he talk to someone, truth was it was exactly what he would say if someone told him the same thing. After his laughter died down he looked to her. “I’m not crazy, well this isn’t me been crazier. I’m serious, our tribe is full of these legends, and their true.” he told her still smiling not wanting her to think he was crazy or made at her implying that. “if we go somewhere more secluded I can show you?” He offered not knowing how the rules laid on that.

Kele laughed as Day mentioned how right now Travis just liked to play in the dirt. "Then playing with greasy cars seems like something he'd probably enjoy too" She said knowing that the guys tended to get a little messy working on engines and doing oil changes. She then nodded as he said he'd take a rain check on it. "Alright, for now" She told him smiling.
"So its not just like love at first sight...that some people think they have but can fade?" Kele asked after hearing him explain that it was meant to further the tribe. She had thought that maybe it was just something he felt but would feel again for another woman, but now with the way he was talking, she wasnt so sure. She heard him tell her that he'd do what would make her happy but he didnt think that staying siblings would. She knew he was right. "What I feel for you, is more than as a brother...but we dont really have a choice...maybe it hasnt made a mistake in the past, but you saw my birth certificate..."
The more Daylan laughed the more that Kele worried that there truly was something wrong with him. Maybe she shouldnt have made the promise not to tell anyone. Maybe he needed his father, or a doctor's help with this. "I believe you that its a part of the legends, but that doesnt mean its true...some folk stories are just supposed to be symbolic" She said gently not wanting to upset him. Her eyes widened as he offered to show her. "Show me? You really do believe it.."

“This can’t fade, this is forever. Its our souls and they never stop loving the other’s soul.” He smiled cupping her cheek and running his thumb over her cheek bone, he loved her more then anything and telling her this was just deepening the feelings. “The birth certificate could be wrong, but not this feeling. This is deeper and it wouldn’t feel like this if it wasn’t meant to be. We aren’t brother and sister, some mistake was made somewhere and it wasn’t our imprinting.” He told her calmly dropping his hand to hold hers.
He wasn’t crazy, but he did know what he was telling her was a big thing for someone not from the Rez to take in. “This isn’t symbolic, there’s a whole pack of us and we’re real.” he told her with a smile hoping she’d believe him. As her eyes widened he knew she was considering his offer, he just wasn’t sure what the others would think of him showing it to her, but she was his imprintee and she needed to see. “Not here, we should go back to the house or into the woods. Someone could see here and it’s a big secret.”
Standing quickly Day pulled her up by her hand and smiled. “I’m not crazy. Come on and I’ll show you.” he said pulling her back towards the way they’d come and deciding the woods would be a better place to show her then the house where his dad might walk in.

Kele smiled as he spoke of what they were feeling now being forever. She never wanted to lose this feeling of completion and love and comfort that she got everytime she was around him. But she wasnt the type to believe that anything lasted forever, so it was hard for her to accept, though she was doing her best to at least give in to the fantasy in the moment. She let him take her hand as it moved down from her cheek. "I want to believe this is right, and it can last, but there's a first for everything, maybe this is the one time they messed up..that's kinda how my luck is...what then?" She asked wondering if he just end up repulsed by the idea of being near her. Was that the only way he could think about her in this way, by denying that there was even a chance they shared blood?
"A pack of wolves running around the reservation?" Kele said trying to get past the strange idea and take it seriously. "I've never seen any" She stopped her self from adding 'of you' not sure she should feed into something like this. But he was still sure that he could show her. "Okay, its a secret, we'll go wherever you want" She agreed.
Kele let Daylan help her up from the drift wood as he offered again to show her and started pulling her towards the woods. "If you have a bunch of your friends there waiting to laugh at me for thinking this was possible I'm going to throw a shoe at you" She warned him, though something in her was saying that this wasnt a joke, that either Daylan was crazy or she was about to witness something she'd never even considered was possible.

Day had to remark at her logic or cynical way of looking at things, but he knew imprinting was forever it didn’t just go away. “This never goes away, its forever as long as we’re both alive.” he told her wanting her to believe his words and believe the feeling they both shared, the imprinting was special and not easy forgotten and never broken. “You’re luck changed, just not clearly. We’re meant to be, that’s what imprinting tells me about us. You feel it too, I know you do.” he smiled letting her own feelings do the work.
“We’re not exactly on public display, but you know a couple of them.” He winked not wanting to give away anyone else secret but wanting her to know she’d met other wolves and just not known it. Heck she was good friends with Nash. “You wont see us, no one ever does. It might cause a bit of a scare, we’re kinda big.” he smiled feeling the proud feelings come with his words.
“The woods will be empty, at least around here the patrols are over near the treaty line. No one is going to make fun of you I promise.” he added the latter quickly not wanting to talk about the cold ones until she at least believed in wolves. Pulling her towards the line of the woods he kept moving pulling her deeper his nerves picking up with ever step. Stopping in a dense section he dropped her hand and turned to her, “You need to step back.” he said pulling his t shirt off his head and holding it to her. “You’ll need to hold these.” he shrugged and held it out to her.

Kele wanted to believe what he was saying. That there was an explanation for the way that she was feeling about him, that he felt the same and that she could trust that they'd have this for the rest of their lives. She tried to let herself believe it, but knew it would be a struggle to accept. "I do feel it too" She admitted quietly, still feeling a bit of shame involved in admitting it, even if he did reciprocate.
"I know some.." Kele repeated, her mind already wondering if this was all true, who the others were. Nash seemed like an obvious choice with how close the two guys were. She wondered who else on the reservation. He said he had to keep it secret from his father, so she didnt think he was one, she wondered if Nash's son was one. "If you're big how have you never gotten caught...I would think someone would spot a pack of wolves running around"
"Treaty line...you mean the border with Forks" She said assuming that he meant the treaty the Natives and Americans had made long ago with promising them certain lands. She had no idea it could mean anything deeper than that. She followed him quickly into the woods, feeling nervous about what was about to happen. She knew if this was the movies this was when the guy would turn psychotic and kill the young girl or rape her, and his quick disrobing of his tshirt would have indicated the latter, but Kele trusted him so completely, she didnt have an ounce of worry being alone with him in the woods. She was only worried about what it would mean when he didnt turn into a wolf like he thought he could and it proved something was wrong with him. She took the shirt from him and took a step back as he told her too, looking at him with concern.
