Issy nodded, she really didn’t want to think about it. About where she’d be going, how she would do it. But she just couldn’t tell him she was even consider running away. Considering leaving the Rez entirely if it came to the others sending her back home. She smiled when he mentioned if she got hungry they could take a detour. She still found herself to be amazed by all the attention, love, and affection he gave her. It kind of blew her mind.
Issy reached forward, the slightest bit and took his hand in hers. As if to show she felt the same even though she couldn’t say it. As if holding his hand could show him all the love she had in special place just for him. A special place she prayed every night that she wouldn’t lose like her mother and father. With her hand in his she continued to walk beside him, after all Leo was much bigger than her, and not just in height, even his hands made hers look quite tiny. Next to him, she looked fragile.
Issy smiled a smile so wide it almost hurt her face. He felt bad for drinking, and even though his temper didn’t flare when he drunk she was happy to know it wasn’t a state of mind he wanted to stay in. Unlike her dad, just another thing that reminded her of how perfect he was. The girl giggled, “besides you telling me that you and your dog might actually carry common ancestry?” she asked. “Nothing,” she tensed her fingers around his . “That was fun.”

Feeling Issy take ahold of his hand Leo felt the immediate calming of his nerves, though he wondered at the moment if this effect of imprinting was all that helpful when he probably needed to have those nerves as they were justified by the conversation he was about to have. He smiled thinking this was probably his genetics telling him that he couldn't use being nervous as an excuse now not to tell her. He couldn't chicken out if she was helping to comfort him. It was like her urging him forward that it was okay to tell her.
He saw her smile as he expressed feeling bad for drinking, glad that at least she seemed to believe him, not just see it as an excuse, sure that many guys his age played down drinking problems they might have. He didnt have a problem, but knew it wasn't appropriate the night before and wasn't sure he'd ever want to get too drunk in front of Issy again knowing her bad history with alcohol.
Leo gave a slight smile as she brought up him having mentioned the wolf thing to her. It was obviously memorable, but she seemed to think it had all either been a joke or drunken ramblings. He wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. He gently squeezed her hand in reassurance. "You remember that part huh?" He said wondering how to tell her he wasn't joking and that the alcohol had merely lowered his inhibitions and freed him to telling everything. "You know that's actually part of the Quileute tribal legends...I kinda just found out, I knew more about Makah before"

She giggled once more at the memory of him petting the wolf and saying he and his dog were related. It was cute, like story time, or the passing down of legends gone horribly wrong and told by a gentle teen drunk on vodka and schnapps. Somehow though last night she found it adorable. “Of course I do,” she smiled. “I think it would be,” she thought of the right word, “really cool!” she exclaimed and felt her smile brighten again. “As long as you didn’t turn into like Michael Jackson in the thriller video, those eyes were creepy!”
“Yeah, my mom used to tell me the legends when I was little,” Isabelle said as she wrapped a strand of her chestnut hair around her finger. “After she died I wished they were all true, the legends of the cold ones and the wolves there to protect their people. I used to wish they’d save me.” She laughed, “but who needs a wolf? I have my hero now.”
Issy couldn’t explain why she was so happy, but she was pretty sure it had to do with the wishful thinking of staying with Leo and his family. Or maybe it was the fact she was happy to be with him and wanted to live in the moment. Either way she was happy, happy to have her prince charming...

"You really think it would be cool?" Leo asked, surprised that she would think that but also filled with a bit of hope that this might go better than he expected. Right now, to her it wasn't even a real possibility, so there was still the chance that when she knew it was real her opinion would change and she'd be freaked out. But he had hope she might not run. Cool had been the last thing he had thought when he first changed. He had been terrified, and then felt like a freak, humiliated and ashamed of what he was. Meeting others like him had helped but those initial reactions were still set in his head. To him it still felt like a bad thing, something to be hidden, not be proud of. "I'd think it was scary...What if it wasn't like thriller, but if I looked more like my dog wolf....but bigger since wolves generally are..."
Leo listened as Issy told him about hearing of the legends when she was little and wishing they were true. Maybe this would be easier. She wanted it to be true, he could give her that! He hadn't even know of the legends until he got here. He hadn't grown up on them, or the other traditional legends. He wished he had and wondered if he would have understood better what was happening to him. He also wondered if he could teach his sister Matt about the legends and maybe she could put together the pieces.
"I'll do what I can to keep being your hero...but maybe you could have both" Leo said, as he stopped walking, relieved that they were only a few feet away from their destination of the hot springs, and far enough away from everyone else that no one would overhear. "I need to explain something to you. So you understand why I wasn't there when you needed me this weekend. I never told you, but before my family moved to LaPush, I left home for a week, didn't say anything to anyone first and lied after to everyone, even Matt...that was when it started and from then until this past weekend, you were the only thing that made sense...I'm sorry I'm not making much sense right now, I promise I'm not still drunk" He said with a tentative smile, wondering if she was really ready for this or if he was going too fast for her.

Isabelle smiled, “I do, I mean think about it, its almost like magic, and you have no one to fear. Because wolves aren’t often prey.” She continued to walk beside him, silently wondering why this conversation seemed to interest him so much. She didn’t remember him being into tribal legends. “A giant dog?! Super cool, I’d ride it like a horse,” she laughed. “Unless of course it was like snarling at me, THAT would not be cool.”
She smiled for a second before comprehending what he said and stopped walking to look up at him. She wanted to say she didn’t understand what he was talking about but the words wouldn’t form. She listened carefully as she looked up at him, her eyes oddly innocent.
“Okay, slow down. You ran away? When? And d- do I not make sense anymore?” Isabelle was speaking slowly and clearly her voice soft and yet void of emotion towards the end of her words. She was afraid of what was to come. It was like Embry all over again. She could feel it, the words that were about to come. She didn’t want to hear, and yet she was standing there. Wanting to understand, wanting to console him, instead of worrying about herself.

"Magic" Leo repeated the word, thinking that if he had viewed things the way Issy had from the beginning, life would have been a lot easier for him. "The only ones they have to worry about are the cold ones...according to legend at least" Leo added slowly. He couldn't help but laugh as she said that she'd ride the wolf like a horse. He pictured her on his back, with him giving her a ride around the forest. He knew he'd let her do it if she wanted to, he actually thought he'd enjoy it, knowing she wasn't fearing him but having fun. "No it wouldn't be cool if they snarled, but the ride sounds fun...I think they'd try to be nice, but I guess you'd have to be careful, wolves could be dangerous" .
Leo watched Issy's expression change as they stopped walking and he started to try to explain things to her. Despite holding her hand the anxiety crept in, overpowering the calmness of being with her as he worried about losing her.
"I didn't intend on running away...it was a couple months before we came here...I just didn't feel like I could go home. I knew I couldn't. I was going through something horrible that I didnt even understand until just recently. During that whole time I felt lost, and like an outsider among people at school, my family, my old friends, everyone. I didnt think I belonged except when I looked at you and you made me forget those feelings" Leo told her shaking his head as he heard her ask if she didn't make sense anymore. "No of course you do, that hasn't changed. You're still and always will be the best part of my life"
Leo took a deep breath, feeling himself getting close. The pieces were already laid out, it was just time to put them together. "I found out this weekend that I wasn't the outsider I thought I was. I understood who I was, and who you are to me, how I'll always love you" He told her softly, not wanting to scare her and sound like a stalker who wouldn't go away. "I didn't mean to tell you yesterday, I wanted to do things better than that...but maybe you could have a hero and a wolf"

Isabelle nodded. Wolves could be very dangerous, that she was aware of. But. in reality just about anything could be seen as dangerous. The girl may not be crazy out in search of adventure at every turn, but she wasn’t afraid of much. She didn’t even fear her father, she just hated him. She was a strong believer in the quote ‘what will be will be.’
A jolt of pain ran through her when he said he too had run away. But she couldn’t imagine what he had been running from. When he said he was going through something horrible, she understood that though she didn’t know the details she knew just how he felt. Her head tilted slightly and she rested a palm on his cheek, a slight smile on her lips. To know she meant so much to him made her feel alive, and ready to fight any obstacles.
Saying nothing, she listened. Listened to every word and repeated a few in her head. Was he really saying what she thought he was saying. Her brows furrowed, not in anger but in deep thought as she tried to process it and decided it was best to make sure she was understanding him right. “Leo?” she began her voice soft but a smile creeping in, “Are you trying to tell me you were being serious yesterday? I mean you think your like teen wolf from the movies?”
There was a smile on her face, but if he believed it she would too, a long as she had proof. Otherwise she was going to have to get him some serious therapy, or make him a cape. Issy was almost sure he was pulling her leg, trying to brighten her mood...which he had already succeeded in. She walked deeper into the forest toward the hot springs. Sitting on a log she looked up and with a smile and waited for him to explain himself.

Leo waited for it. Expecting her to either laugh at his idea, or look at him with disgust, or just completely as though he was crazy for even suggesting such a thing. He wondered if he should have waited longer, and asked more of the pack (many of whom he hadn't even met yet) about how they told their imprintees, if they did at all. But Leo didn't want to keep anything from her, not now that he understood it. Instead of the adverse reactions he expected from her, she looked like she was trying to understand it, if maybe mildly confused. It was a better reaction than he could have thought, especially when he saw the smile creeping onto her face.
"Not quite" Leo replied as she asked if he thought he was teen wolf like the movie. He followed her deeper into the woods until they reached the log and sat down beside her, taking her hand and seeing the smile on her face. She didn't look afraid of what he was going to say even though he was scared to say it. "Not teen wolf from the movies...but a wolf like the legends...ones I just learned and am sure you know better than me"
"I know it's gotta sound crazy right? I thought I'd gone crazy. I also thought I was a freak, or a monster, that there was something really wrong with me and that was why I couldn't go home. I was out alone when it happened and it took me a long time to figure out how to even get back to normal...but even then I was scared it would just happen again without me being able to stop it, or that I'd end up hurting my family. " He said still finding it hard to say the words that turned into a wolf. "But I'm glad I came back, otherwise I wouldn't have moved to LaPush and met you....but when I wasn't with you, I suddenly felt more alone than ever before. And when I was with you, as much as I felt great, I was afraid of what would happen if you found out, or if I hurt you. I kept thinking you deserved someone better more normal or maybe saner"
Leo furrowed his brow wondering if he was making any sense at all. Really none of this had made sense to him either until he met the others and found out why this had happened and that he wasn't alone, that there was a reason for it all. "This past weekend...I wasn't there for you and its no excuse, but I found some others who helped me. I found out I wasn't alone, and even if I might be a monster or freak I'm not the only one...they told me about the legends and it explained everything...Issy...Quileutes are descended from wolves...or at least our ancestors had some freaky relationship with them...I turn into one, not some weird hybrid like in the movies, but a really big frickin' wolf" He told her feeling tears swell in his eyes as the pain of the secret he had been carrying around for so long came out.

Issy sat there, smile still lingering but as he sat next to her on the cold log she realized something. He was speaking of the legends, the same ones she’d grown up with. She remembered the paintings of werewolves her mother used to draw, the legends she would tell her before she fell asleep at night. Was it possible? With her hand in his she thought about the way his skin always seemed much too warm, as if he had a constant fever.
She looked up at him, into his eyes realizing new things each time. He was super muscular for a teen, and crazy tall just as mom had said her grandfather had been. She’d seen the pictures. “Your not lying” she said quietly. She could feel it in the look in his eyes he was serious. And if she hadn’t grown up knowing the legends she wasn’t sure what she would have been thinking at this moment.
She let out a small laugh as a single tear rolled down her cheek. It explained the mystery, the reason when he seem stressed he’d take off. Why when she spoke of her father his hand seemed to get warmer still. The slight tremors she’d seen once or twice, as if he were trying to control himself. Now she knew it really was him trying to do just that. Isabelle hugged him, squeezing him tight, she had her own private hero. A legendary werewolf of her people. She kissed his chest through his shirt before asking, “What to do you mean by hurting me?” she asked, her face hidden in his chest. She was inexplicably happy. This whole time she thought maybe he was dying or something, that was why his skin was always so hot, and he took off so often.

"I've only ever lied to you to try to cover this up, because I didn't understand what was happening to me or why. I will never lie to you again, about anything" Leo promised her, knowing things would be much easier with her knowing his secret...if she decided to stay with him after all this. He hoped his timing hadn't been wrong, that even if she broke up with him over this, he could still offer her a safe place to stay away from her father. He'd leave if he had to, stay in the woods if he needed, to keep her safe and protected, if she no longer felt that way around him. Leo looked down at their hands, still joined, surprised she hadn't pulled back from him yet and wondering if it just hadn't set in for her yet. His eyes went back up to meet hers, seeing the tear stream down, but mixed with a laugh.
As Issy hugged him he felt a wave of relief wash over him and put his arms around her, holding her tight, but not in a restricting manner. He just enjoyed the feeling of her in his arms for a moment letting himself realize that she had heard the truth and really knew who he had been this whole time yet was still letting him hold her. She wasn't running, or yelling for help. It was an acceptance stronger than what he'd felt being let into the pack. They were strangers who shared his secret, but she was the love of his life and she accepted the real him. He couldn't see her face and only hoped that this wasn't a good bye hug. He lightly kissed the top of her head. "I didn't mean to keep it from you...I just didn't know how it was possible..." He said feeling guilty for the times he had lied, and he times he had left if the situation got hard, or the way he he had needed to take those drinks yesterday to keep his anger towards her father from getting out of hand.
"I don't ever want to hurt you...and I promise I will do everything I can not to" Leo told her. "I wasn't always sure I could keep from changing, I started to learn what made me feel like I would, things like stress or anger or being upset...but you countered those feelings and made me feel happy and calm. I didnt know if I did change in front of you, if part of the beast would come out and I might end up hurting you, I knew I had control, but I didnt really understand it...the other guys talked to me, they said mostly I do have control, but if it happens suddenly accidents can happen...I dont want to lie to you or keep anything from you, you deserve to know what can happen...one of the other guys, he hurt the girl he was with and she has permanent scars from it, he didnt mean to but it happened"

Isabelle listened intently, though it was somewhat difficult to stay focused. Here, her boyfriend was saying he was a wolf...and she was accepting it. No questions asked. For a moment she wondered if it was this very thing, this over abundance of trust that so often got her feelings hurt. She nodded into his chest, understanding why he always seemed strange when stressed, if this was all true of course.
She looked up at him, her green eyes wide as he spoke about one of the others hurting his girlfriend, or maybe it was his wife. “H-How many are there of you...you guys?” she asked. Her nervousness was coming back, the thing that made her stutter and made her cheeks light up. But, she couldn’t seem to fight it, somewhere deep she was yelling at herself for believing such a thing. What if it was all an excuse? An excuse to say the famous line ‘its not you, it’s me.’ And here she was...oblivious to the fact that the stories were just that, stories. Reality didn’t contain magic.
“S-S-So,” she began and paused to get a hold of herself. “C-Can you prove it?” she asked him simply, pulling back a little. She had to make sure she wasn’t looking like an idiot when he told her his life had too much going on... she was waiting for it. It was as if every time she tried to trust him, her mind held her back again... She had enough pain in her life.

As Leo held onto her he was experiencing conflicting emotions. He couldn't believe how well this seemed to be going, and how easy she was seeming to accept everything he was telling her. But he also couldn't get the thought out of his mind that perhaps she was just still in shock and once she actually realized how true it was, and that there were dangers associated with what he was (as evidenced by Emily) that perhaps she'd just turn and run. This was a lot for him to take in and come to terms with, but he had no choice. She had a choice. She could decide this was too much for her, and that she wanted someone simpler, someone normal, who wasn't a freak. But now that he understood it, he had to make sure she did as well, so that at least the choice she did make was informed.
He held her a little tighter as the guilt crept in that maybe he had just hurt her worse by not telling her until now. He had lied to her and kept it from her for awhile already, no matter what his reasons were. Maybe it would have been easier for her if he'd never got involved. The thought alone made him feel empty inside and brought back to mind the conversation the other guys had with him about imprinting. It was another crazy thing that could push her away. But was more truth she'd have to hear, once she decided if she could accept the wolf thing.
Leo looked down as she asked nervously about how many of them there were. Her nervous voice made him sure things were taking a turn for the worse for him. ""I...I dont really know exactly...but I can find out for you!" He offered quickly, hoping she wouldnt see this as a lie or him keeping more from her. He hadn't though to ask really...there had been so many other questions he had. "I met a few of them, and they said there were more of us...maybe at least ten from the sounds of it, but that's just a guess...I'll find out the next time I see someone. There was just so much going on, it seems like everything changed practically overnight"
"Proof..." Leo repeated the word hesitantly, as she pulled away, knowing he should have expected this. But it went against every instinct he had every other time he had been with her. He had always fought to keep this from her and worked to control his emotions so that he wouldn't show her what he was. He looked down for a minute, wondering what he was supposed to do. The image of Emily's scars were fresh in his mind. He couldn't do that to her. But others had been able to do it without hurting their girlfriends. But it was a risk still wasn't it? And what if he just frightened her away. Who wouldn't be repulsed by the sight of a human morphing into a beast from the monster movies. "Issy...I..." He started looking up at her and shaking his head wishing he had the answer. (OOC: sorry if i'm torturing issy too much, let me know if you want Leo to be more cooperative, I'll smack him upside the back of the head and redo the post )
