(1 1/2 years post-BD - Tag ANY/ALL Imprintees!)
Baya looked over at the folding table she had brought out. Drinks and cups were at one end and a variety of snacks were at another. She frowned a little as she wondered if it was going to be enough. She wasn't usually nervous but she wanted this to be right. She had invited all of the imprintees on the reservation to come to her house for a girls only slumber party, a sort of get to know you of the significant others. She knew they had so much in common and could probably use a place to talk to people like them who would understand their situation. They couldnt talk to their families about their boyfriends or husbands, and unless they knew other imprintees already, their friends couldnt know either. The pack for the most part all knew each other so she thought they should as well.
She gave a now gleeful smile as she thought about the prospects of the evening and hoped that everyone was going to have a nice time. She looked over at Dawn who she had picked up from Connor's house a little early (knowing she'd need help getting there and also wanting a friendly face to be the first there. "Thanks for coming early Dawn, and for helping with those" She said motioning though the girl wouldnt see it to the napkins she had asked her to fold, not wanting her to feel like anyone thought she was incapable of helping just because she couldnt see. Folding was something she could feel with her hands and thought would be a good task and something to make the table a little prettier.
"Do you think anyone's going to even come?" She asked, her smile faltering just a little before lighting up again. "I can't wait to see us all in a room together, that'll be something. I hope people have a nice time. "

Dawn bobbed her head up from her task of folding the napkins into the design that Baya had so nicely taught her to fold, smiling in the girl’s general direction. She had been feeling insanely nervous all day about this party, more so than she usually was in new social situations, even though she had already made what she considered to be a good friend in Baya herself. She supposed she was anxious about how she would measure up to the other imprintees. There was absolutely no reason for her to think that anyone would look down on her, everyone had been incredibly nice since she had moved to La Push, but… she supposed she just didn’t want to reflect badly on Connor.
“No problem,” she assured the other girl. She was actually quite enjoying folding the napkins – the process was easing her nerves a little and she was confident enough to know that she was folding them correctly. “Thank you for picking me up, I really appreciate it.”
She began to tilt her head back down to the napkins – an unnecessary motion, but on that was still habit – but before she managed to make another crease she heard Baya’s question, her tone sounding a little more unsure than her usual perky bubbliness. “I think everyone will come,” she reassured the other girl, grinning over at her. “Everyone’s always gossiping about other imprintees… no one will miss out on this opportunity to actually meet everyone. There must be a whole load of us now… I just hope that everyone’s as nice as you and the others I’ve met so far.”
She bit her lip nervously, though stopped as soon as she realised she was doing it. This would be the first time she had been around so many people since her mother's funeral, which was when she had made the leap from partial blindness to complete blindness. The event hadn't been a disaster (excepting the awful circumstances), but she couldn't help feeling like a spare part all through it. Baya was doing wonders for averting the feelings from occurring again at this party, and the situation was much different, much better, but...

Gabriella gave herself a look in the mirror before shrugging and smiling at a strip of pictures including her making silly facial expressions behind Embry’s back. In the last one he was laughing, ‘must have been the moment he noticed,’ she thought to herself before turning to her bed and scooping up her purple and green back pack and heading out the door of her room. She skipped down the stairs, tucking both of the ear buds into her ears and putting the sound on her mp3 player up a little higher. It used to be pink, but she had used nail polish to make it look more original like herself.
She wasn’t nervous, but she wasn’t completely feeling like this was what she would normally be doing. She knew she was a bit eccentric, and she didn’t want to make Embry appear as if he were a goon for being with the odd one of the bunch. Her blue jeans hugged at the waist but fell loosely everywhere else, something that happened when you wore a pair of jeans that used to be your brothers. The green belt hung loosely on her hips, there more for show and her matching green top read, “my boyfriend is better than yours,” in purple lettering. It was a joke that she hoped the other girls wouldn’t take too seriously.
Gabby was only in her car a few minutes before arriving at the given address she had scribbled on a sheet of paper. The girl tugged at the back pack in the passenger seat and threw it onto her back as she shut the car door and took a breath. It was time to actually try fitting in with a crowd. She’d met the hostess once, very briefly and she seemed cool. Otherwise Gabs wouldn’t have made it. She knocked lightly on the door and waited patiently, looking around to see if anyone else were coming or how many parked cars there were.

Glancing down at her watch Rayen let out a frustrated sigh, it was not well past when she wanted to leave and Claire was still not down and in the car. Sure they’d still make it to the party on time, but the errands she wanted to run on the way would not be happening. “Claire if you are not down here in the next 2 minutes I’m leaving without you.” She said yelling up thee stairs of the empty house before turning and stomping to the door.
The air was cold, but dry for a change as she made her way out to the car to wait for her almost 5 year old daughter. Claire was going through so many changes in such a short time it still worried Ray constantly. If she was honest she wasn’t sure taking her to the this imprintee party was all that much of a good idea. As far as Claire knew, or ray thought she knew, Quil was just her very special best friend with a very big secret. Ray wasn’t sure how been around the other type of Imprintees would effect her little girl, or how she’d adjust to sharing the secret with only certain people.
With the engine now running to warm up the car Ray honked the horn with two extended blasts and glared at the house’s front door. Knowing they had to leave now just to make it to the party in time. Ray wondered what people would make of her at the party, she certainly wasn’t anyone’s imprintee just the mother, but she knew the feeling of completion or had known it. When she had been with Claire’s dad, Tai, she’d known that feeling and more that you shared with a soul mate. Sitting back in her seat Ray let out another frustrated sigh as she waited.

Claire had a vague feeling that when her mother walked into her room later that day, she would not be pleased. Fortunately for her, she wasn't going to be there when it happened. She was going to a party with the other girls that knew about the wolves like her Quil, and she wouldn't be in the house when her mom got upset. Why would she be upset? It might have something to do with the mess Claire was making, desperately looking for the little carved turtle Quil had made her. Uncle Jake made animals better, but Quil's was more special and it kind of looked like a manatee instead.
Finally finding it at the bottom of a sock pile, Claire shoved it into her pocket, pulled up the hood to her sweater and dashed out the house as her mother honked the horn, closing the door behind her. Using all her strength to pull the car door open, she climbed in unsteadily before sitting in the front seat, her legs dangling from the front. "Ok I'm ready!"

"I was happy to, anytime" Baya assured her as Dawn thanked her for the ride. She meant it too, she was happy to pick up Dawn if she ever needed some girl time, or just missed her man. Baya knew what that was like. The girls had their differences, but it was a bond they had. One she knew they shared with the other invited guests, and was the reason she hoped everyone would get along well today.
Baya smiled at Dawn's reassurance that she thought everyone would come. Dawn was such a positive girl, or at least from what Baya had seen from her. No one would have blamed Dawn for being more pessimistic given her situation but she wasn't. "Yeah I figure there's gotta be a good bunch and I dont know if there's any one of us who knows all the other imprintees...maybe Emily" She said with a light shrug, but guessing the woman might just know all the wolves. "And as nice as you" She corrected, appreciating the compliment Dawn had paid her.
Baya heard the knock on the door. Her heart started beating a little faster with nervousness, hoping this wasn't just going to turn into some big disaster. "Looks like the first guest is here" She said to Dawn. "If you need anything during the party, let me know" She said as she walked to the door, not wanting Dawn to feel alone or helpless once more people showed up. Baya opened up the door with a smile already on her face. "Hi! Gabriella right? Come on in!" She said warmly, her smile faltering a bit as her eyes lowered to the tshirt the girl worse. My boyfriend is better than yours. Really? Was that appropriate when you were going to a party of women who were deeply in love with their soulmates. She thought it was in a little bad taste and was a little cocky of the girl, but didnt say anything. She wasn't about to let a shirt dictate her entire opinion of the girl. "Have you met Dawn?"

Sitting in the car waiting for her ever delayed daughter Rayen realized how glad she was that she didn’t have to go to the party. The last thing she wanted was to be surrounded by women eternally happy to have found their ever loving soul mates when she was a single mother and the one man she’d ever love was away and had no clue about anything she was feeling or living. It was all her own making, but she didn’t need a room full of in love women to remind her of it. As much as she loved her sister Emily’s soul mate love could be over powering occasionally.
As Claire slipped into the seat beside her Ray looked over and smile at her small daughter sitting, legs swinging, in the passenger seat. “You can sit there, but put your belt on.” She said gently with a smile it wasn’t that far to the La Push rez and Emily and Sam’s house. Rayen was taking Claire to Emily’s to avoid the whole party and because she thought it would be better for Claire to go to the party with someone that was at ease and understood the whole Imprinting thing. As much as she’d been told about it, talked about it and tried to wrap her head around her 5 year old daughter having a soul mate; it was still a little difficult.
Pulling out onto the unpaved road Ray kept slow in the ever present rain glancing at her daughter before looking back at the road and speaking. “You behave this afternoon Claire Titan.” She warned knowing Claire could be hyper and excitable like any child, but in a room full of grown women it could get a little much. “And remember just because this whole party is about your secret, its still a secret outside of the party.” She reminded her daughter carefully knowing that no one but a select few could know about the wolves.

There were few things that scared Lyndal or made her nervous, but the idea of been in a room full of women all sharing a common secret managed to do both. She knew it was crazy, that going to this party should calm her or excite her, but she worried her feelings were wrong or that someone might think her imprinting was wrong because Nash already had a child; maybe they’d think Michelle should be his imprintee by default. Pulling her walking boots on Dal tried to dispel the thought, but it was still plaguing her as she pull open the door and head out into the cold to trudge to Kele’s place.
Even having been on the rez for over half the year Lyndal still knew very few of the other pack members or their soul mates, Kele was the one exception. Kele and Dal were friends through their wolves, but now they had their own friendship in its own right and Dal was thankful for it. The only other imprinter she really knew was Issy and their friendship was still in its rocky stages after their initial meeting.
The walk to the Kele’s house was a short one, like most things on the Rez, stepping up on to the wooden porch Lyndal reached for the handle and walked in. “Kele? You ready?” she called out closing the door behind her hoping her friend wouldn’t be ready yet wanting anything to delay the party. “I think I should stay home, I have this huge English paper due tomorrow that I need to do.” The said paper was almost finished, but any excuse to get away from the nerve causing party would work. Leaning against the wall Lyndal picked at the zipper of her coat as she waited.

As Kele got ready for the party she was already pretty sure most of the girls would already have a bad impression of her. She was sure they had heard the story by now of the wolf who imprinted on his sister. It was a scandel, something that seemed so wrong to them and she was sure others. She didnt think it would matter much to the gossip listeners that they were eventually proved to not be genetically related. She wondered if there would be any whispers tonight.
But Kele wanted to go for Day. She didnt it to look bad that his imprintee wasn't being sociable with the other girls. Plus she thought it was good for Lyndal to meet more people, and she knew if no one else, at least Dal would talk to her unjudgementally.
Kele was just putting on her jacket when she heard Lyndal come in and start making excuses. "Oh no, if I have to go you have to go" She told her joining her in the other room. "If its too bad we'll use the paper as an excuse to leave early, but I know you knew about this in plenty of time to make other plans for doing that paper" She said knowing full well it was just an excuse.

Claire buckled her seatbelt without an argument, but was still unable to keep her legs still. She was looking forward to hanging out with all the big girls so they could talk about the wolves. Almost every time she'd try to talk about it, people usually got nervous and quiet, and reminded her that it was a secret. Well, how could it be a secret if they were having a party? Either way, she didn't want her mother to change her mind, and smiled wordlessly as she began the short drive to Emily's house where they would meet before going over to the party.
She was wondering what the other girls were going to do, and if they had any toys, when her thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of her mother's voice again. Looking up at Rayen, she rolled her eyes a bit. "I know, mommy," she said stubbornly. "You tell me like... every day. I promised Quil I wouldn't tell." In Claire's mind, that was all it took. She would never break a pinky swear promise to Quil, because she knew that he would never break one either.

The stitching on the zipper of her jacket was frayed, Lyndal picked at the loose thread as she listened to Kele telling her that the excuse didn’t float. Sighing she pushed up off the wall and dropped her hands to her side raising her chin slowly to look up at her friend. “We could just not go, we could say I had too much homework and you had…had…well we could think of something.” Dal said hopefully, but even as she said it she knew it would be rude not to go. Aside from been rude she didn’t want it to reflect badly on Nash, for others to think his soul mate wasn’t playing her part in pack activities. “We have to…it wouldn’t be fair to Nash and Day for us not to turn up there.”
Dal knew Kele would understand her reason for not going, but also her reason for going. Both of them had controversial imprintings and worried about what the other imprintees and one on the res would say about their intense relationships with their boys.. The more serious Dal and Nash’s relationship got the less she worried or noticed what others may say about it, other then his aunt and uncle. His aunt and uncle were ever watching and all seeing.
“I know, I know.” She laughed slightly knowing that Kele saw straight through her excuse as she expected she would. “Come on, lets get this over with.” She said turning on her heel and heading back to the door. Opening the door let in the cold air from outside and this time stepping out Dal was glad that everything was close. Lagging back she let Kele lead the way. “At least, for once, we wont have to watch everything we say about packs and wolves.” She said trying to think of positives as they started walking.

Dawn smiled once more as Baya told her that she was happy to pick her up for the party and she began to wonder whether she would be able to get out more often (which to her was not much at all). It would all depend on how this party went and on what the other girls were like. Whilst it was true that she got on with pretty much anybody, some people couldn’t act naturally around her and shied away – a fact of life she just accepted now. She laughed a little, a bright sound, as the other girl repaid her compliment.
As a knocking sounded from the direction of the door, a small surge of nerves filtered through Dawn’s stomach, knowing that it was most likely someone she hadn’t yet met – she hadn’t even become acquainted with Emily yet, though she had heard a lot about her and her cooking. “Looks like,” she commented, redundantly. “And I will do, but don’t worry about me.” She didn’t want Baya to stop enjoying her party if she thought that she was discomforted in some way.
Listening from where she sat putting the finishing touches on the napkins that Baya had asked her fold, Dawn discerned that the new arrival was called Gabriella. She noted the odd falter in Baya’s voice as she spoke, as she noticed most small things, but didn’t know the other girl well enough to place the reason. Perhaps she would find out later. She was certain, anyway, that she hadn’t met the new girl yet. “Hi!” she called brightly from where she was, not wanting to get mixed up or in the way by going out to meet her as well.

Hayley pulled up in front of the address Graham had given her and shut off her car with a slight sigh. She sat there for a moment wondering if she should just turn around and leave. She was sure she wouldn't really fit in here. She was older that the others, from what she had heard. She wasn't a native of LaPush. She didn't know the other imprintees (unless any of them happened to be in one of her classes at Forks High, in which case she was sure it was bound to be awkward). She really didnt know if she should be here. But at the same time she wanted to find out more about Graham's life here. She wanted to meet others in her position and maybe find out she had more in common than the obvious. She felt nervous that she'd end up being an outsider, and it would reflect poorly on her boyfriend.
Hayley got out of her car and headed towards the door. As nerve wracking as it was she knew she owed it to Graham to give it a try (though he had told her she didnt have to go). She wanted to be supportive of him, and show she was handling things as well as any of the other girls were. She wasn't sure how long she'd stay, especially if there were some of her students there, but she had to see what it was like. She wanted to hear from the other girls their experiences, and learn from them.

"We can't just not go...if nothing else aren't you at least a little curious to see what everyone else is like? Maybe it'll end up that everyone's like us and we'll all be the best of friends with this secret binding us all" Kele said attempting to be optomistic about the situation though she had her own fears of what everyone would be like. She wasn't going into it expecting them to accept her. She had too many walls built up to expect that, but she felt more positive about Dal. She thought she'd be able to win them over for sure. The cute aussie girl who had made a family complete. She nodded as Dal finally conceded that it woudlnt be fair to Nash and Day. "You're right it wouldnt. We dont want them to be the only ones whose imprintees don't show up...no matter what these girls think, we've got nothing to be ashamed of or to hide from" She said trying to be strong.
Kele smiled as Lyndal agreed to go and get it over with. "I knew you'd come around" She said proudly as she walked out the door heading the girls house who was hosting the party. She smiled as Lyndal mentioned the benefit of not having to worry about what they said about packs and wolves. "You're right we won't. Everyone there already knows....I guess it could be kinda nice, right? "

Gabby smiled awkwardly when Baya opened the door. The girl had never felt so lost for words, let alone so lost in the current situation/location. Why on earth had she agreed to come, that was the question she kept silently asking herself. “That’s me,” she replied, wishing for the first time to be more like everyone else.
“Thanks,” she said whilst biting her lip. From the looks of it Baya had just read her shirt, and didn’t seem to get the joke. She took a step inside the door and gave a small wave to Dawn feeling a little more welcome from the other girl, “Um hi Dawn, I’m Gabby,” she said with a real smile, and a brightness to her tone. “D-Do you guys need some help with anything?” she asked pulling the strap up a little higher with a tug.
Not really wanting to Gabby looked back toward Baya, and shrugged slightly biting her lip once more. “I didn’t wanna’ offend you, she said looking down at her shirt…”it was suppose to be a joke. I can go if I make you uncomfortable.” The girl said looking to her green and purple converse. In honesty she already wanted to go…she didn’t belong in a party full of girls, they never really got her tom boy sense of humor and fun…
