Nudging him with her elbow, Amber glanced away, blushing as he spoke. She was relieved beyond belief that he hadn’t seen anything, though she had a slight sense that she might not have minded as much if he had as if someone else had. The thought made her face flush even redder and she giggled, trying to cover her embarrassment at the thoughts as he smirked at her. She had seen the same expression hundreds of times since she had arrived in Forks and yet it still made her smile every time she saw it. Shaking her head slightly, she followed closely behind him, grinning now that they were well and truly headed away from the scene. “I guess I’ll just have to try harder next time, won’t I? I can’t afford to settle for anything less than success” she teased as he led her out into the parking lot.
The cool air outside helped to calm the colour in her cheeks and as he guided her to the car, she raised her face slightly, allowing the mist to brush over her skin. Next to rain, this was her favourite weather and with Mike at her side and the promise of ice cream ahead, the evening couldn’t get much better. Sliding into her seat she grinned, nodding at his words. “Sounds perfect” she said brightly, fastening her seatbelt and reaching forward to switch on the radio. Her grin widened as she heard one of her favourite songs and she quickly turned up the volume. Closing her eyes, she wiggled in her seat, suddenly wishing she could dance along to the music. “A Place In This World by Taylor Swift” she recited, giggling at the way she sounded like some kind of encyclopedia. “This used to be kinda my anthem when it first came out, I used to listen to it all the time.” Moments later, completely forgetting where she was, she was singing along to the music.
“Got the radio on, my old blue jeans
and I'm wearing my heart on my sleeve
feeling lucky today, got the sunshine.
could you tell me what more do I need
and tomorrow's just a mystery, oh yeah
but that's ok
I'm alone, on my own, and that's all I know
I'll be strong, I'll be wrong, oh but life goes on
Oh I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world”
Suddenly realising what she was doing, she opened her eyes, shrugging sheepishly. “Sorry, I just love that song” she said as her face turned red for what seemed the hundredth time that day. “I didn’t quite intend for you to hear me that way, I was kinda hoping it’d be a little more rehearsed.”
(OOC- sorry if the lyrics are wrong, I copied them from a lyrics site and couldnt' be bothered going through to correct the punctuation and everything lol. Sowwy!)
