{....tag Travis....almost 2 years post Breaking Dawn....}
The room was lit by a lamp casting shadows across the room as Lyndal padded in in her plush socks and Pjs to say goodnight to Travis. It was becoming a ritual after Nash, when he was home, had said his good night she got her time with the little boy she was crazy about. Today had been a big day, finally telling Trav about the up coming, quick, marriage and what would happen next so she wanted to check he was ok with everything.
“Hey Bean.” She said gently as she moved over to the bed knowing her way around the room as if it were her own thanks to the number of times she snuck into be with Nash. “You all snuggled in?” She asked sitting next to him on the bed and pulling the blankets tighter to his shoulders as she did.
Sure kids were easy to like, even love, but what Dal felt for Trav was great then just the liking of a girl to her boyfriends child she truly loved him. “Did you brush your teeth after all that ice cream?” She asked with a smile thinking about how great the day had been and how well he seemed to be taking everything. “You know I bet you dad is out there eating the rest….well he would be, but I hid it.” She giggled.

His Dad had had just left a few moments ago from tucking him in and saying goodnight but Travis was still laying in bed wide awake. His mind was still grasping the new information he had learned that day. His dad and Lyndal were getting married. It was weird for him because no one else he knew his age had a Dad who was getting married...but they all had two parents too, so it was hard to compare. His dad seemed really happy about it but things were still a bit confusing to Travis to figure out. He had had some time to think since they told him and knew he had a few things he wanted to ask Lyndal.
He smiled as the door opened and she walked in calling him Bean, the nickname he had given her on one of their first time's out together. He liked her a lot better now than he had then. He nodded as she asked if he was all snuggled in and pulled up the blankets for him.
"I even got the back ones Lyndle" He told her proudly as she asked if he had brushed his teeth. He giggled as she mentioned how she hid the rest of the ice cream from his dad. "He's good at finding food, even when you hide it" He said remembering how he had tried to bring cookies to bed and hide them under the bed, but his father found out as soon as he came in.
When he stopped giggling he paused a bit looking at her as if he wanted to ask something but was afraid to. "Lyndle...will things be different after the wedding?"

Travis smile always reminded her of Nash, the two were so alike in their features and mannerisms that sometime Dal swore Trav was just a miniature version of his dad. Snuggling him up in bed Dal felt like a mother caring for her child a feeling she found she liked more and more as her time with Trav went on.
“Good good, gotta get all that sugar out or the tooth fairy wont want the sugar coated teeth.” she smiled listening to the name he called her liking that they both had nicknames for one another. Talking about Nash made Dal long for him, even in the few minutes away from him. “Yep, your dad has a nose for sugar. He even finds my stashes of candy bars, but the ice cream is good and hidden you’ll see. Then we can have it after school tomorrow.” she promised ruffling his hair.
When he stopped giggling she looked at his little face looking so serious she smiled. “After the wedding….I’ll just be your daddy’s wife and I’ll have the same last name as you. You’ll get your own room, but everything else will be the same. Is that ok?” She asked gentle rubbing his cheek and wondering if all the wedding talk had scared him.

"No sugar on these" Travis assured her, not wanting to miss out on any money from the tooth fairy for having bad teeth. He wondered why she didnt want sugar coated teeth and hoped for a minute that she didnt reuse teeth, thinking that would be gross, and glad he had his own. He lit up a bit as Dal admitted to him that his dad found her stashes of candy bars too, but that the ice cream was better hidden. "He finds my cookies too... we should have ice cream after school everyday" He said thinking that would make the day so much better.
He was nervous asking her stuff about the wedding. He had a big question to ask her but he knew he had to work up to that first, and see how she felt about answering the other questions first. His Dad always got a little uneasy when he asked him about Mommy questions before, and he hoped it wouldn't make Lyndle angry if he brought it up to her.
He listened to her answer about what would change and gave a nod as she said how most everything would be the same. "Yeah" He accepted it. "We'll still live here? All of us?" He said knowing he had teachers who talked about what marriage was and how new couple would move in together. He didnt want to be left behind with his Aunt and Uncle.

“Wouldn’t you get tired of it if we had it everyday?” She asked with a laugh. Dal enjoyed their time together after school whatever they did, it was their time to be together and bond something Nash had first suggested and now was a regular thing. “Maybe we can have ice cream and other things, but always good treats.” She suggested.
Travis seemed nervous as he spoke, but Dal tried to stay relaxed and calm him. She wondered what was bothering him and wondered if he’d said anything to Nash about it. Thinking back she couldn’t remember seeing another on Nash’s face as they’d passed outside Tarvis’ room.
“We’ll still live here, for now, but if we move you’ll always be with us. Once I marry you’re daddy we’ll be a family.” She smiled hoping her words were settling his mind and any worries he had. “Family means no one gets left behind. The three of us will always be together, Bean.” She said rubbing his arm gently. “Is something wrong? You can tell me…” she smiled.

"If we get tired we can just change the flavor" Travis said, thinking this was an easy solution to getting bored with ice cream. But he couldnt see himself ever not wanting it after school, even if it was always the same flavor. "Hmm" He thought on her suggestions. "I guess other things could be okay too...like candies or cookies."
Even though Travis and Dal had been getting closer lately, he was still nervous to talk to her about stuff that was unfamiliar to him. He didn't want to get her mad at him, or to have her say something to his dad that he'd get mad at him for. He wondered if he should just not say anything, but then he wouldnt know what to do!
"A family" He said liking that idea, and relieved that no matter where they ended up living he could still live with them. He looked down as she asked if something was wrong. If she told him that she didnt want to be his mother, then he felt like he'd know his father had been lying and it was his fault he didnt have a mom like other kids did. But he knew that she wasn't really his mom, so maybe she'd have to say no, maybe she could never be, even if he wanted her to be. It made his stomach feel nervous as he looked back up at her.
"Its just...if when you get married, that makes us a family...Does that mean I can call you Mom then too?" He asked her, but then quickly looked down, not wanting to see if she got mad by his question.

“Maybe we should start a plan to try every flavor ice cream that was ever made….ever…even ear wax flavor.” she smiled and pulled a yucky face enjoying entering into a mission with him. “Or we could try cookies and candies and apples and broccoli.” She said nodding as she thought up things to eat after school.
A family, Dal liked that idea. She already thought of them as a family even if they were a very unusual one with a wolf as the of it followed by a marriage to stop his imprintee leaving and a child thrust into it all. However, it was their family.
His question seemed hard for him to ask then his nervous looking away made her heart flip more then the question, she smiled and reached out for him. Pulling the covers back a little to see his face. “Trav, do you want to call me mom?” she asked him. Lyndal already knew she wanted to be his mother more then anything else in the world, to hear him use the word to her would make her heart leap, but if he didn’t then she’d be ok with it too. She wanted Travis to be comfortable. She and Nash hadn’t talked about this step yet, it hadn’t come up though she was sure Nash had thought about it.
“If you want to call me mom, then you can. I’d like it a lot.” She smiled using her finger to gently turn his face towards her. “But you can call me anything you like…whenever you like. Whatever you call me I’ll always be here for you and I’ll always love you as if you were mine.” She smiled again moving her hand to his arms and pulling him towards her as she moved to lay down beside him wanting to hug and squeeze him for the amazing little boy he was. Part of her wanted to call out to Nash and make sure the whole thing was ok with him, but she knew this conversation was between her and Travis and she wanted to keep it that way for now.

Travis' eyes widened at the thought of trying every flavor of ice cream ever but then made a face as she mentioned ear wax ice cream. "Ewwwww, we can skip that one, but everything else! How many do you think there are?" He wondered. He listened to her talk about some of the other foods they could have after school. "I think we should save broccoli for dinner" He said not excited about replacing ice cream with a vegetable.
If Travis wouldn't have felt too much like a baby for doing so he would have hid beneath the covers after asking his question. He still kind of shrunk down beneath them a little until she pulled them back a bit more. He looked up at her as she asked him if he wanted to call her mom. He was nervous to answer that until she said how she felt about it all.
He saw her smile as she said he could call her that and she' d like it, smiling in return a bit as she said he could call her anything he'd like. "When you marry my Dad, does that make you my new mom?" He asked her. "I think I'd like to call you Mom" He decided with a slight nod hoping his dad would be okay with it. She pulled him towards her and he put his arms around her hearing her say she would always love him as if he were hers. "I wish I was yours..." He said softly.

Watching his eyes widen at the quest they would take with ice cream Dal laughed. “I’m sure they’re making new flavors every day.” She smiled knowing it probably wasn’t that far off the truth. “Will you eat broccoli at dinner or will you hide it?” she said sneakily knowing she’d not like veggies as a kid too.
The conversation was so big even she and Nash hadn’t really talked this one through, but she knew Travis deserved an answer and more then that he deserved a mother. Dal wanted to be his mother and be there for him. Letting him call her mom was a commitment she was more then willing to make.
“I can be your mom is that’s what you want, but I wont make you do or call me anything you don’t want too.” She said knowing she wasn’t going to force the issue, that this was his decision and choice. Hearing he’d like to call her mom made her heart swell and she felt tears in her eyes, but didn’t push them back she merely smiled. “I’d like it if you called me Mom too.” She said.
Squeezing him too her she kissed his head and breathed him in loving every bit of him and their new bond. “I’ll be yours and you can be mine.” She smiled kissing his head again and laying him back to tuck him back in. “Right, sleep time mister.” She said tucking him back in gentle trying not to cry the happy tears she felt.

It amazed Travis to think that every day there could be a new ice cream flavor that was made. "We might have to double up then to catch up...maybe we should make our own flavor someday too!" He thought that would be fun, though he had no idea how you did something like that. He made a face as she asked if he would eat the broccoli at dinner or hide it. "Do I hafta eat it?"
He gave a small smile as she said how if he wanted she'd be his mom. It was still a little confusing to him of whether the marriage made her his mother or not, but it seemed like he had the choice in that, something that seemed different but he kind of liked. He smiled wider as she told him that she'd like him to call her mom too. "I think thats what I want" He said liking that she said she wouldnt make him do anything.
He hugged her back as she said she'd be his and he could be hers, even at his age knowing he couldn't really be hers, not like he was his dad's. He could see her eyes look watery as she tucked him back in and his smile faded, worried that he had asked something bad after all that he made her upset, just like his dad used to look sad if he asked why he didnt have a mommy. "Did I make you sad? I didn't mean to..."

The energy and hope of youth made Dal laugh as he spoke of doubling up, “Anything to get extra huh?” She laughed again thinking she would probably do just about anything to make him happy like his father would do for her. “As for the green stuffs; absofruitly. Its good for you.” she said hoping her excited tone and smile might one meal time help.
Lyndal was sure the wedding and family thing was confusing for Travis which is why she wanted to leave as much of it up to him as possible. She didn’t want to force him into anything that he wasn’t comfortable with. “If you want to you can call me Lyndle and anything else you want.” She said not using the word so as not to pressure him into it, thought she wanted so badly for him to use the word on her.
Tucking him in she couldn’t help a couple of tears as she smiled and kissed his head. “I’m not sad. I’m happy. Sometimes I cry when I’m happy.” She said rubbing her eyes and smiling at him not wanting him to think such a amazing thing had made her sad at all. “It makes me happy that you want to call me mom. I like it a lot.” She said reaching down for another kiss on his cheek. “But now you have to sleep or you wont have enough energy for our ice cream mission.” She said before standing up.
Making her way back to the door Dal could hardly wait to tell Nash what Travis had said and asked, she hoped he’d be ok with her answers. “Want me to leave the door open, Bean?” She asked reaching the door and turning back to him. Staring back at him and feeling her heart swell with love she wanted to scoop him back up and not let go for a long time, but she knew he needed rest and they both had school the following day.

Travis smiled as she suggested he'd say anything to get some extra ice cream. It was one of his favorite foods, so having double would be doubly awesome. He giggled as she said absofruitly, even if it was about a green vegetable. "Ice cream's good for me too"
Travis nodded as she told him he could still call her Lyndle or anything else he wanted. He liked having the choice, that she could be his mom if he wanted to call her that. But he also liked not having to do it right away if he wasn't ready, or not even ever if he didnt want to...but he thought it would be nice to try having someone to call mom, like other kids did.
The tears worried Travis. He knew people around him didnt like to talk about his mother and he hoped he hadn't upset Lyndle with it. Maybe she didnt want to be his mommy. Maybe she couldn't even do it at this point. Or she knew his dad would get mad. He was worried until she said how she was happy and that she liked it that he wanted to call her mom. "Okay...cuz I don't wanna make you sad" He said then nodding as she said how he had to sleep.
He watched her walk to the door. He nodded as she asked if he wanted her to leave the door open. "Just a little please...mom" He added the last word softly but with a smile.

“You could never make me sad, you make me smile. And now I’m just been silly, crying because I’m happy.” She said trying to explain it to a child why she’d have happy tears over something that was really making her heart soar . “it’s a silly girl thing.” She laughed wiping her eyes again as she leaned down and kissed his cheek smothing the blankets as she stood.
She heard the soft word and smiled again as she blew him a kiss and left the door slightly ajar allowing light from the hall to spill into his shared room. Dal made her way back to the small family room where Ruana and Cornaro where watching TV, and where she’d been too before saying good night to Travis. Assuming Nash was in the kitchen Dal moved behind the sofa as quietly as possible towards the kitchen knowing his aunt and uncle hated them been alone together.
Pushing open the thin door to the kitchen Dal closed it again before speak in a hushed tone. “Trav’s all settled for the night.” She said moving towards him where he sat at the kitchen table and sitting down. “You know he asked me something just now, and I said it was ok. I don’t want you to get mad or anything, and I’m totally ok with him calling me this. It was his choice…” She stammered suddenly nervous what Nash would think of the whole Mom thing despite them marrying soon.

Travis nodded, accepting her reassurances that her tears were happy, and it was a girl thing. She was smiling and laughing which he knew were happy things so he believed her. He watched her move to the doorway and called her Mom for the first time, feeling out the name and the reaction she'd give him. She smiled again and blew him a kiss, causing his smile to widen, happy that she hadn't gotten mad at him for his question or for what he wanted to do. He closed his eyes and knew it wouldnt take long to fall asleep.
After tucking his son into bed, Nash headed back down to the kitchen. He usually ended up back there after dinner. It was hard to eat as much as he wanted in front of his aunt and uncle, with his abnormal wolf appetite. He was always still hungry after and would sneak back for snacks or leftovers. While Dal had gone to say goodnight to Travis, Nash worked on making himself a sandwich. Two kinds of meat, three cheeses, lettuce, tomato, mayo, thick bread. Good after dinner snack for a wolf.
He began to wonder if everything was alright as Dal took longer than normal to come back. He wondered if Travis wasn't handling the news of the wedding as well as he seemed to earlier when they had told him about it. He was getting worried and starting to think about going back in to check on them when Dal came into the kitchen, speaking softly. He was worried by what she was saying that his son had asked her something that she didnt want him to get mad about. "What happened? What did he do? Was he rude to you?" He asked, wondering if his son had called her a bad name and she was just trying to be understanding of how stressed Travis must be now.

The only thing Dal truly hated about the living situation and been an exchange student was the sneaking around, she hated having to tone down the feelings she had for Nash. Even now with the coming wedding they still had to hide everything and sneak time together, Dal would be glad when it was all out in the open. Heading into the kitchen Dal moved quickly towards Nash feeling the draw and the need to be beside him. She looked at the sandwich and laughed as she started to explain about the talk in the bedroom.
“No, no he wasn’t rude. He just wanted to ask me something and I know we haven’t really talked about afterwards or what I’ll be to him, but I answered him.” She said knowing she probably wasn’t making much sense, but wanting to explain it before she said what he’d asked. “Nash, Travis asked if he could call me Mom and I said that would be ok. Its what I want to be to him.” She said truthfully hoping Nash wouldn’t think she was over stepping her mark or jumping ahead of herself considering they weren’t married yet.
