Hearing the talk of the leeches Day felt his whole body and demeanor shift, he despised their kind even if the Cullen’s were different. Talk about them make him act instinctual, he just hoped he wasn’t too harsh in his retort to it. As they continued to joke he felt the tension of the Cold ones name wash from his shoulders. “I have a rugged smell. Theres no wet dog smell here.” He smirked knowing he probably would smell like a wet dog when he was phased and out in the constant down pour. “Feel free to tell me I’d my stench bothers you.” He laughed doubting she ever would.
Even as she said it he knew he could never bring himself to wake her, she was beautiful when she slept and with his silent movements he’s watched her a couple of times in the breaking morning light. The idea of spending a few extra minutes together in the day sounded perfect, even stolen minutes were treasured in their hectic days. “Maybe we can both start our days a little earlier and have breakfast together.” He suggested hopeful even for those extra minutes. He liked to hear her own voicing of the idea for more time together, he knew every time she said things like that that it was the strength of the imprinting bond.
Holding her to him with her head on his chest Day felt complete and at ease. He could hear her steady breath and held her a little closer breathing in her scent. “Me neither.” he smiled even though he knew she couldn’t see him. “Its going to be a big weekend.” he said feeling a little nervous and wondering if he should ask her or still surprise her.

Kele laughed as he told her how there was no wet dog smell with him but he could feel free to tell him if his stench bothered her. She leaned in a little closer, taking a flirtatious sniff. "You smell great to me, I don't think your smell will ever bother me, nothing about you does" She told him honestly. It was one of the problems, there was nothing about him that repelled her the way a brother should repell a sister. No annoying habits or anything.
She smiled liking the idea of them having breakfast together as he suggested it. "That would be really nice" She said with a nod, eagerly agreeing to the idea of getting up a little earlier to have those extra moments with him.
Kele listened to the rapid beating of Daylan's heart with her head on his chest. It was a comforting sound and she understood now why newborns were relaxed by listening to their mother's heartbeat. She hadn't received much comfort in her life from her mother, but listening to Day's heartbeat was relaxing and reassuring. He told her again how it was going to be a big weekend, and she again started wondering what it was all about. "No hints?"

“Well next time I’m phased and soak I’ll let you see if you like that.” He grimaced then fell into a natural laughter knowing he smelt less then great then. “But I like how you smell too, and trust me with my sense of smell I can really tell.” He said cocking his head to the side and taking an exaggerated sniff in her direction as he smiled.
Already his mind was buzzing with coming back form patrol early and having breakfast with her a perfect start to his coming day and something he’d willing and easily stay awake for. “Great, we gotta do it.” He smiled again nodding at her as she nodded at him.
“Nope. No go girl. it’s a surprise.” He said puckering his lips and wondering if that was for the best. Should he propose now and let her think it over, think if she even wanted to go? He couldn’t take the risk she’d back out, it would break his heart. “Its like 2 days to wait then we’ll be there, but I’m not giving anything away til Saturday.” He said with soft stern tone.

Kele laughed lightly as he suggested she see how he smelled phased and soaking wet. "I don't think your dad would let you in the house like that" She said, having not even realized she had said his not their father as she often did, despite his protests. She grinned as he told her that even with his heightened smell he liked how she smelled. "Thank you"
"I'm in! " She said eagerly, set to getting up early to get the extra quality time with him, even if it was only having breakfast, it was still another moment in the day that they could share together.
Kele gave an exaggerated sigh as he refused again to tell her anything until they got there. "Fine, I guess I can try to wait" She told him then frowned as he said how he wouldnt give anything away until Saturday. "I thought we were leaving Friday? Do I have to wait once we're there to know about this surprise trip too?"

Hearing her use the phrase your dad gave him hope that she was finally realizing that he wasn’t her dad too, that they weren’t siblings as she feared. “He’d freak and call Charlie in Forks or the rangers from the animal shelter.” he laughed knowing a full sized wolf was hardly the ideal house pet. “Besides he’d probably be more worried about the wolf then the mess or the smell.” he joked more.
Her eagerness was infectious and he found himself buoyed by the idea of more time with her even a quick breakfast. “Well this weekend is all about time together and not just breakfast.” he said just as eager.
Daylan was having so much fun teasing her, but he knew it wasn’t entirely fair. If she said yes then it would be the most important weekend of their lives and start of their shared life. He wanted to share it with her, but his nerves stopped him. “See this weekend is several surprises all rolled into the weekend. The trip, the big thing and then whatever comes.” he explained with a smile in his voice.

Kele couldnt help but laughing picturing the police in Forks or an animal shelter being called in for Day. She knew that he was probably right that most people would freak out seeing a giant wolf. "I still think its weird that he doesnt become one too, when you got the genes from him" She said finding the fact that it was only the younger ones who changed interesting.
"I hope you don't get sick of me with a whole weekend together. Usually you have two jobs you can escape to" She said hoping he wouldnt get sick of her, but knowing it would be more time together than they usually had at any one time.
She raised her eyebrows a little surprised as he explained a little more about the trip. "So the trip isnt the big thing? I thought that was the big surprise" She said, having figured it was the destination and maybe some special meaning behind it.

It maybe wasn’t that far from the truth, Day knew there were several members of the pack that had come close to phasing in places a little too public, especially Paul. Luckily he had his phasing under control and didn’t have the temper issues that some of the others did Sam included. “Nah it just skipped his generation, none of their kind around so protectors weren’t totally needed.” He said with a shrug nothing thinking his dad would have made a good wolf and probably would never have committed enough to imprint.
“Its not escape, its more like been forced to leave your side. I could never grow sick of you even if we spent a whole year alone.” He said honestly thinking that would be pretty amazing thing to do. The weekend was just a taster of the life they could have alone and together, though he knew she might grow sick and tired of him eventually.
As Kele again fished for more information on the weekend away day just smiled bigger and closed his eyes relaxing into the conversation filled with teasing. “its part of it and there’s more.” He said vaguely. “That’s all you’re getting Miss Pine.” he said squeezing her to him and resting his chin her head.

Kele listened as Day explained to her how it wasn't that weird that their father wasn't a wolf that it just skipped a generation. She wondered if the tests came back and proved she was his sister, if she'd have a chance at turning into a wolf while she was here too. "Do you think that if you ever have kids that it'll skip them too?" She said, not even thinking it would ever be their children. She knew if they shared DNA as she thought was probably the truth, that they could never have kids, and this would probably be over.
She smiled as he said how it wasn't escape that he felt when he left her, but felt more forced. It was comforting to hear that he didnt sometimes just need a break from her. She knew things with her were complicated, for the both of them, and wouldnt have blamed him for wanting an escape every now and then. "I'll never be able to get sick of you either"
Kele gave an over-exaggerated sigh (with a smile still on her face) as he told her that was all the information she'd get from him. "Maybe I'll just let this nap last til we leave" She told him, feeling excited about their trip and finding out about the surprises.

It wasn’t really the fact that it skipped it was more that they weren’t needed and when Kele asked about his kids, he hoped their kids, he hoped they wouldn’t have to a need to change. “I hope any future generations wont need to change. I hope this pack can wipe out the threat from the leeches.” He said confidently and hopefully. He knew in her words that she still worried that they were related, but he hoped it wouldn’t ruin his plans for the weekend. They weren’t related and the test results would prove that, but after the wedding.
“Good” was his solid answer. If they weren’t ever going to get sick of each other then it was set that they’d be a good couple. His smile certainly showed his pleasure and contentment if anyone looked at him they’d see that was certain.
Her sigh made him laughed a deep laugh that shook his chest and the bed, but he relaxed back into the coming tide of nap. “Well I have to get up in a couple of hours and relieve the others from patrol, sorry.” he said with a reluctant sigh of his own. “But it’ll be here soon, promise.”

Kele smile a little as she heard Day say how he hoped that they could wipe out the leeches so there'd be no need for future generations to phase. "As nice as that sounds, I dont like the idea of you fighting them...I dont want them to hurt you" She said worried that something could happen. She didnt want him to have to be the one to go into battle with something dangerous. She didnt want him risking his life.
Kele gave a little pout at his laugh, but quickly gave that up, too content laying there in his arms to put up much of a fight about anything. She was about to have some time alone with Day, where they could forget about the stresses here, and not have to hide. She nodded as he spoke about needing to go on patrol. She didnt want him to go but knew it was something he had to do. "I know you do..." She said softly. "Are they okay with you taking a vacation?" She asked, wondering if the pack would be mad at him leaving the area. She didnt know how those things worked.

Daylan chuckled at the idea of a leech hurting him, but he heard her worry and he knew it was his job to quell that feeling. “They can’t hurt me, or any of us. We work as a pack and work well that way. We’ll be fine.” He said hoping his words reassured and put her worries to rest. “We got those leeches beat.” he smirked letting his usual bravado fill his words and ease the subject.
Laying with her in his arms he was relaxed and fully able to fall asleep, but he didn’t want to. Any time with Kele was to be savored. He pulled her a little closer to his side running his hand up and down her upper body gently to relax her and the action to keep himself awake. It had been a long day, in face a few very long days not that they were ever short or easy since he changed.
Been a wolf wasn’t something he could actually take a vacation from, Day knew he’d still be able to change when he was away from the rez if he didn’t keep his temper in check or stumbled across some random leech. He knew, like the rest of them, that eventually they would stop phasing either by choice or by them no longer been needed, the idea of taking a vacation wasn’t how he looked at it. “I’m off patrolling this weekend and Sam thinks its quiet enough. Its not like I take a vacation from been a wolf, just form been in the pack for a few days.” he said suddenly realizing how strange that idea was going to be, he’d never been away from the rez and certainly never away from the pack since he’d phased.

Kele frowned a little as she heard Daylan chuckle at the idea of getting hurt by a vampire. She didnt like that he didnt seem to see how serious it was. She loved his confidence and strength, but worried it might not make him careful enough when it counted. It worried her that someday one of these monsters could really hurt him. "I hope so...just make sure one of them is always watching your back" She said protectively, wishing she could be out there to make sure nothing happened to him.
Kele felt calmed and soothed by the feeling of his hand running softly against her body. She was snuggled up against his chest, but wondered if she should leave to let him get the sleep she knew he needed. "If I'm keeping you up I can go back downstairs?" She offered, though not really wanting to leave.
Kele nodded as she listened to him explain that he didnt have to patrol that weekend, but he wasn't really taking a vacation from being a wolf, just from being with the pack. She couldnt even pretend to know what that was like for him, to be able to change or have that bond with a group of people. "Yeah, I guess you don't really get vacations from it, just a change of scenery"

Fighting Vampires, like everything else in his life, Daylan took with a carefree attitude; he knew his power and that his brothers had his back. When he went in to face a leech he wasn’t letting his mind be bogged down by the chance of failing, like when they’d fought the dude with the dreads he’d just enjoyed the power of the fight. “Babe don’t worry Nash’s has always got my back if one of the other’s hasn’t. He’s had my back since we were kids and I’ve got his.” he said knowing he and Nash were closer then any of his other pack brothers having been brother’s even before their change. As Kele spoke he could hear she was both worried and protective it made him feel even more loved by her and more certain of the step they would take at the weekend. “I’m safe.” he said with a gentle squeeze of her to his side.
Knowing he should sleep and sleeping were two completely different things, Day would stay away however long was needed if it meant spending time with Kele. He needed to be with her, like he needed air in his lungs a mushy fact he wouldn’t have dreamed possible less then a year ago. “No, you’re going no where.” He said pulling her closer to him and resting his head against her. “I can sleep even better with you beside me.” He mumbled already feeling sleep taking him and knowing he had a night patrol with Nash and some new kid later that night. The way the pack was growing Day was sure it meant more vamps must be in the area a fact he wasn’t happy about. More new kids seemed to change almost weekly, but a growing pack meant more pups to train and prepare.
Been a wolf was something, at least now, that Daylan couldn’t ever imagine not being. It was part of him and felt like it always had been and always would be. Going away from the pack even for a short time and for something good gave him an anxious feeling, he knew the pack would be fine without him, but been away from them and out of contact other then by phone made him worry what could happen. He was bound to them and them to him, a brotherhood, and if something were to happen he would feel the guilt and pain he just knew it. Pushing away that feeling Daylan tried to concentrate on the positives that would come from his weekend away, hopefully returning married to the woman he loved with all his heart. “Its going to be good.” he mumbled again giving over to the sleep and relaxation of been close to his imprintee the night could wait a few hours then he’s think about Leeches and the pack now it was about Kele and himself only.

Kele knew that even if Daylan had told her he had 100 guys watching his back against every one vampire that might show up, she'd still be worried. She knew it was dangerous, and despite all the help, he could be the one person to get hurt, and it scared her to think of, but she tried to let him reassure her with mention of Nash. She knew how close they were and did believe he'd at least be looking out for Day specifically. She nodded as he told her he was safe. "Just try to be careful, even when you think you're safe, and can take them no problem"
Kele gave a soft giggle as he told her she was going no where and pulled her closer as she offered to leave him alone to get some rest. He made her feel so loved and wanted, something she had never felt before coming to LaPush. "Okay, I'll stay, but just remember we came up here so you could get some sleep. You need energy to be a big strong protector of an entire group of people" She told him, proud of the work he did, even if she did worry about him the entire time he was away. "Besides, maybe you'll start talking in your sleep and drop some hints about this weekend" She grinned, excited for the time away with him.
Kele could hear his voice drifting off as he slowly gave over to sleep and just gave a nod as he said it was going to be good, keeping him from talking further and forcing himself awake. She closed her eyes atop his chest to rest with him. She still had a slight smile on her face enjoying this time together, not worrying about being caught, something that didnt happen nearly often enough.

Her worry made him smile again, but he nodded. “I’ll be careful.” He vowed, not wanting to getting to the logistics of fighting vampires of how the pack worked to keep each other safe. Daylan didn’t want to think about the pack or fighting or vampires, all he wanted to do was lay with her and spend time together before he had to head out. The weekend seemed forever away so for now he’d take what he could. “I have something to be careful for….you.” he said kissing her head.
Although sleep was already taking him he had to laugh she hoped he’d talk in his sleep, “Howl and whimper maybe, but no talking.” He said with a laugh still echoing in his voice. “You’ll have to wait and see. Its not that long.” he said with his eyes still closed knowing that it probably felt just as long to her as it did to him.
Sleep took him and in the completeness of his bedroom with Kele beside him he gave incompletely and slept for a few hours till patrol.
