Leading her down the tiny hallway towards the kitchen he and his mother shared, he smiled at her self proclaimed toughness. He knew better than to question it, he found out that she wasn't to be messed with long ago. He smiled at the memories, and looked over his shoulder to her with a big smile, nodding towards the table to offer her a seat. He mad a beeline towards the fridge and opened it. "Milk, orange juice, pineapple soda oooorrr... water," he offered, with his head buried in the cold. He saw an apple, but those were no fun, and there wasn't enough cake left over for the both of them.
He was going to reach for the string cheese when he suddenly shot up straight to look at her, traces of shock on his face. Do those mood ring thingies actually work? Was that what she was really feeling? The corners of his mouth turned up a little without him noticing before he snapped back to reality. He wasn't sure if she should know anything right away. He wished he knew how his brothers had handled it. "I think it might be broken, yea," he said casually, letting his grin reappear. "I'm mean, you were the one that kinda stopped talking to me," he teased her, though it was true. He remembered being disappointed that he hadn't seen her in a while, she had been pretty cool for a girl. But like any other teenage boy, he had been easily compensated by other distractions. Now, he could hardly believe that they hadn't seen each other for so long.
He took another peek at her supposedly dysfunctional ring, and the slightest trace of worry leaked into his eyes before he smiled at her again and looked back into the fridge. What if she didn't feel the same? The legends never said it was definite, it was just likely that they were to stay together. Considering his luck with girls, he wouldn't be surprised if he were the exception.

Gabby noted his big smile, at least he didn’t seem bothered by her company. He actually kind of looked as happy as she fealt. Then again it was hard to catch her in a bad mood, unless you did something super stupid, or put words in her mouth. She remembered him being cute, but now he was hot stuff. It made her giggle, she wondered if he would consider modeling for toothpaste commercials. ‘Yuck,’ she thought to herself, she couldn’t explain that mushy feeling, but she didn’t like it. Mush wasn’t her style no sap, just action and fun times.
The girl giggled and her blue eyes glistened with amusement. “Your mom actually lets you drink soda?” she asked, she remembered Embry’s mom being the one to put a limit on sugar, unlike her own mother. It was a good thing she was a naturlist and preferred vegetables and fruit over pure sugar or she would have been a full blown diabetic by now. Her mom had horrible eating habits. “Orange juice please,” she said as she took a seat where he had directed. She looked down at her ring, mourning for its disfunction. She loved that thing.
Gabs looked up when he agreed it was broken, and gave a hearty laugh. “Eh,” she shrugged, “You had like no observation skills. I had a crush on you, and you always seemed oblivious to it. I thought you didn’t like me so I left you alone.” She admitted simply, looking back down at the blue stone, “besides remember Mina? She had a serious head over heels thing for ya, made me sick, she came around a lot less when you weren’t there. And man she got on my nerves,” Gabby said shaking her head. The memory floated back in. ‘Embry this, and Embry that, whens he coming back?’ Gabby rolled her eyes.

He grinned when he reached for a few string cheeses. "My mom chilled out on the sugar thing as I got older, I guess." It also didn't help that his enormous appetite was almost insatiable. He took out the orange juice and reached for cups in one of the cabinets. He poured as he sat next to her, feeling her warmth the second he was near her. The smile on his face eased and he gently handed her the cup. He laughed deeply, his voice echoing in the small kitchen as she explained her sudden disappearance. Sipping his juice and cracking open one of the string cheeses, his eyes were wide and intent on the girl at his table. "Really?" he said, his voice almost cracking as if he were still going through puberty. He tried to sort through his memories, finding anything that indicated what she was telling him. He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I guess you're right, I had no idea," he said, surprised, but pleased. He suddenly felt so stupid for having wasted all this time when he could have had her nearby. "I don't remember if i had a crush on you," he said truthfully, "but I do remember missing you around. No one to debate Ninja Turtles, ya know?" He meticulously picked apart his string cheese, leaving the rest of them on the table for her to pick from. He was suddenly red in the face, feeling bashful at her words. He wondered if she was feeling something along those lines right now while they talked. He couldn't help but glance at her, watching.
"I actually knew Mina liked me," he told her, chuckling. "She was a bit obvious. Sure, I was clueless, but my friends weren't and they told me until I was convinced. She was a bit scary for me." He remembered Gabby's friend, always finding a way to be involved. While Gabby had always been a bit more at ease, genuinely interested in hanging out, Mina had been a bit more forward and had always found ways to get Embry alone, effectively scaring the crap out ot Embry. "You were more fun to hang out with anyway." He smiled at her, trying to convey the torrent of feelings in him, wanting to just spill it all out. But this would have to do for now, and at least he was the only one suffering.

“Thanks,” she smiled as she reached for the glass. She couldn’t help but let out a laugh as his eyes widened before her. Yup, clueless, she wondered if he was still as unmindful as he used to be. She almost hoped he was, at the proximity she could smell the sweet fragrance on him. He had a girlfriend, or friend with benefits, either way he was taken, her smile turned and became a soft pout. She took a sip of her juice at that second to hide it.
Gabby laughed and shook her head, “you mean no one to lose to?” she asked with an innocent smile. She had to wonder if frustrating Embry was as fun as it used to be. He was so calm, that seeing him all flustered or annoyed somehow use to make her laugh. Like a game. She took a sting cheese and studied it, as she picked it apart, and tied one string into a knot before popping it into her mouth.
Gabby almost choked on her string cheese when Em admitted he was a little afraid of Mina. That made two of them, the girl was annoying and just plain weird, she was sure he’d be thankful that he hadn’t seen her now in her gothic, all black, I’m depressed get ups. “I know,” she agreed with a big smile. “I won’t disappear this time though,” she smiled, “I’m kinda stuck here anyway.” She traced the ring of water the cup had made upon the table, “So still hang out with Quil and what’s his face?” she asked looking back up at him.

Had Embry not been watching Gabby so closely, he would have entirely missed the tiny pout that was on her face for the smallest moment. His eyes immediately grew worried, afraid he had said something that had upset her. Whatever it was, he wanted to tell her that it was alright and that he would fix it. He was suddenly worried about the many things he would have to fix. He was afraid what she would think once he told her everything. She was a great girl, but everyone had their breaking point. And then there was Noel. He had no idea what she was going to say. They had both told each other that they just didn't think they were going to imprint like anyone else. This had been unexpected.
His own smile returned when she laughed. "I did not lose that argument, Donatello is still the best one." He remembered the very play visit when they'd heatedly discussed Donatello and Michaelangelo. He laughed at the whole thing before taking a large gulp of orange juice. "Don't get me started," he warned playfully. He felt the greatest relief when she told him that she wasn't going away. The rush of unique warmth tingled all over, and he ached to tell her how excited and happy he felt. It was an unusual feeling for Embry, who was usually not so keen on expressing something like that. "That's good news, especially since we haven't even hung out yet," he told her, smiling before taking another drink from his cup.
Nodding his head and picking apart his string cheese, he was impressed that he remembered his best friends. His only worry was that she was slowly getting closer to questions that would have to be answered more and more vaguely. He figured the best he could do is try to steer the conversation away. "Yea, Quil and Jake are still my best friends. They're like my brothers." He was itching to tell her how that statement might actually be true, but he held his tongue, practicing the patience some of this other brothers lacked. "I'm sure they'd love to see you again," he said brightly.

Gabriella laughed at the mention of their childhood antics. Now that she thought about it, besides the obsession with being mischievous she hadn’t changed all that much. She still changed the paint on her walls when she felt like it, and picked up what most would call odd projects until they seen the end result. Her current fascination was with shells, and she was always trying to find the perfect ones.
“Ooooh, what if I do?” she joked before taking a sip of her juice. She smiled at his comment on not hanging out yet, it was a good sign. He was still able to put up with her whacky ways. Quil, and Jake that was the other ones name. She couldn’t remember a time when the three of those kids weren’t best friends, she wished she had that bond with someone other than E’kyel. It seemed even as she got older, he’d still treat her like a kids when it came to certain things. Embry was bound to be one of those things.
“We’ll have to set a date,” she offered tying a bow with a strand of string cheese before munching on it and trying to untie it with her tongue.
Gabby pushed her hair behind her ear and made a face before slipping off her mood ring. Without permission she reached for Embry’s large hand, scooping it up in both of her own. She pushed her ring onto his pinky finger. With one hand she grabbed for the string cheese, the other she used to hold it up so as to see it better. She waited for the color to change. Maybe it wasn’t broken, just defective.

While Embry was usually shy and reserved, his naturally shone when in the presence of his newly found soulmate. He looked closely at her every expression and took pleasure in every feeling she projected. He chuckled softly, when she threatened to challenge him again. "Maybe we might actually see who wins without you attacking me with pillows this time." They had never ended that conversation, while both remained adamant about their favorite character, but the discussion was easily forgotten as they had found other things to do that day.
To his surprise, it was she who actually offered the word 'date'. His heart skipped at the thought, and his smile grew wide. "Yea, sounds like a date. I'll bring the Oreos this time, huh?" He wasn't sure how serious she was, but he was already excited to get to know her again, and just being close to her again. He felt a pang of longing, wishing he had seen her sooner than today.
He popped the last piece of cheese from the first one he'd opened into his mouth, and then his hand was soon being held by both of hers. He felt a warm sensation, pleasant and soothing, travel up his fingertips, through his arm, calming his whole body. Her hands were smooth and delicate, and her fingers were cool to the touch. He tried to see if her face changed at the unusual heat of his skin, but she appeared to be too busy on what she was doing. The ring barely fit on his much larger pinky and metal was cool on his skin. His eyes were watching it and Gabby, watching for her reaction, and the ring itself went through a series of colors for a couple of moments before settling on the deep blue it had been on her hand. The side of Embry's mouth twitched, and he looked at Gabby again. "Does this mean I'm in love with you too?" He injected as much humor into his tone as he could manage, but he couldn't keep out the sense of excitement in it. His eyes could almost see a light glowing around her, and he could almost say that he already did.

The girl grinned from ear to ear, that was something she’d never forget. The Kodak moment that had passed her by. She giggled at the fond memory of bashing him with three of the pillows off the couch at once, a quick and efficient victory. Well, for the moment. She took another sip of her juice as she looked over at him. Her eyes just above the glass as he spoke, ‘date’ the word made her tingle all over like a giddy little girl that had just opened gift she wanted for Christmas.
She placed the cup back on the table, “And I’ll bring the milk,” she nodded. She wondered if he was just playing around or if the sentiment that matched her own was for real. Worse thing she could ever do was make him feel pressured to be around her like Mina had made him feel. Yuck! If she made anyone feel like that it would mean she was an annoying pansy and that was just unacceptable.
“Ha,” she laughed smiling, “who knew inanimate objects played match maker,” she giggled at the odd coincidence, suddenly remembering the feminine scent that clung to his clothing, at least she could have sworn it was a feminine odor. “Unless you’re in love with somebody else,” she grinned and winked. If he had a girlfriend this was his moment to speak up. Though he surely didn’t act like he had a girlfriend. Gabby turned his hand over following ‘the love line’ on his palm. It was long and curved, her eyes lit up a bit.
“Awww, your warm in your actions,” the word warm made he suddenly realize the heat emanating from his had. “Yeah, literally” she laughed not even stopping to think if it was odd. She giggled once more, “Nah, if you loved me, the book I’m reading says you give yourself to love, so you’d belong to me,” she said with a goofy maniacal laugh. She reluctantly gave him his hand back.

Her laugh summoned his own, deep and hearty. The ring may appear to be putting them in each other's paths, but Embry wanted to burst open the truth and tell her that it was so much deeper and binding and amazing than that. The hand she was holding between hers was tingling in ecstasy, sending waves of warmth all over his body. Just a few hours before, he thought he would pass out in his little beat up car on the way home, drained and exhausted. But now sitting with the most perfect girl in his kitchen, he never felt more awake, more alive in his entire life. His smile only faltered slightly when she mentioned him being in love with someone else. He was suddenly confused as to how to handle this. He didn't want to lie to her at all, but technically he and Noel were still together. He laughed nervously and lost eye contact for a bit before looking at her and offering the only truth he could come up with. "No, not someone else," he said, laughing. He couldn't say anything past that, afraid that he would say something that would upset her, or force him to say something untrue.
His heart thudded in his chest when she talked about the book she was reading. Whatever it was, it seemed to have more insight than he was expecting, unless it one of those fake and vague things that just told you what you wanted to hear. Either way, his cheeks deepened in color at what the book said. He wished there was a way to tell her that he was already hers... that is, of course, without sounding creepy. His courage was stirring quietly, overcoming his usual shyness. It was mostly due to him wanting to just get it all out in the air. He gave her another smile and mustered up his nerve. "Well do you believe in your books?" he asked cheekily. He stood up, having an idea, and walking to a cupboard. He took out a half eaten pack of oreos and set them on the table as he sat down. "You can owe me the milk next time."

Gabriella smiled even as his attention left her after the playful question. She thought now that maybe she shouldn’t have implied anything. Her hands searched for each other and she fiddled with her fingers, circling the cuticles of her left hand. It was now that she realized her desperate need for a manicure, she frowned at them before she heard him speak. Her eyes immediately fell upon him, and she could feel a bit of heat in her cheeks. She rubbed them, a hand on each side of her face in an attempt to hide it. Gabby pouted.
The girl had no idea what he meant, but she wouldn’t ask. It was better to assume he was single, that way she could swoon silently without feeling guilty or jealous. His laughing immediately made her whole body perk up in the chair. Gabriella met his eyes once more as he spoke a goofy grin on her face.
“If I didn’t believe it, I’d stop trying to memorize it,” she laughed and gave him a wink. She wrapped her fingers around the chilled glass. The smile never leaving he face for more than a few seconds. Gabby’s cheeks were actually beginning to hurt. She watched Embry as he went to the cupboard and brought out the pack of oreos. “De ja vu,” she said with a cheery smile, reaching for a cookie. “I’ll have you know I still eat mine whole, the taking apart thing is way too time consuming,” she grinned before biting into the oreo and leaving only half in between her three fingers.
She let her eyes fall upon the tile floors of his kitchen. Why did he have to be so frickin cute, it was actually making her nervous. She felt a slight touch of heat in her cheeks once more. She looked up without thinking, “am I too forward?” she asked, remembering telling him he was hot . Not like she could change if he told her she was, but at least than she could try to bite her tongue. It wasn’t something she was used to doing.

Anxiety took hold of him again when he saw another pout claim her mouth. He was saying something wrong every time, but he wasn't sure what. It sounded innocent enough, and he was making sure he was staying away from the subject of Noel. Maybe she could tell that he was lying, and he was already upsetting her. He was trying to think of ways to divert the conversation, but thankfully Gabby's mind was quicker than his. He grinned at the effort she put into the weird books, but wasn't surprised at all. His shoulders shook as he laughed softly, picking up his own oreo. He made it a point to twist the two cookies slowly in front of her, to show that he hadn't changed his oreo method either. "Well you always hogged them all," he teased. "I like to take my time and enjoy my oreo, thank you very much." He then did as he believed and lazily scraped the white creamy part with his teeth before putting the two cookie parts together and taking a big bite.
He shook his head playfully at her rash method, and continued his patient pace with two other oreos. He watched her face fall slightly, distracted from the conversation and cookie, and he wondered what she was thinking about. It couldn't have been more than an hour, but Embry was already impatient. He just wanted to be close to her and know everything, seeing her lose her train of thought without him knowing what about was going to drive him crazy. He had started to make terrible guesses as to what she could be thinking of when she looked back at him and asked the last question he would have thought of. The full force of her eyes hit him, and he was momentarily confused. The question finally settled in, and a small smile lifted his expression. "Maybe a little," he admitted. "But you always said what you wanted and when you wanted it. There was never anything wrong with that." He remembered being a kid and sometimes finding himself in varying states of shock whenever she spoke her mind. "I was always the quiet one, but I think we made a pretty good team." His face heated again when he took a book out of her page and tried to say something he was thinking that he normally wouldn't voice. "Good things never change, right?" he asked, his voice barely able to mask how nervous he was. He blushed deeply in response to his own advance, but he refused to look away.

Gabby smiled and chuckled before picking the cup up to take a sip of her milk, careful all the while as to not make herself a milk mustache. She could do without that for now. “team,” She repeated the word aloud, her nose scrunched a bit at the top as she put the words under the microscope that seemed to reappear with the face of her one time crush. She looked at him, wondering if maybe he meant something more, or if It was just her imagination. She really did need to put down her Grandmothers romance novels, they seemed to be making her into a gooey girly girl.
“Team as in Batman & Robin, or like Batman and Bat girl?” She asked with a grin. ‘Damn it!’ Gabby thought to herself as soon as the words escaped her lips. Keeping her thoughts to herself was proving more difficult than she thought it would be and she quickly popped the rest of the cookie into her mouth hoping it would keep her from saying anything to make her look desperate. With her cheeks full of cookie she could only imagine what she looked like, a squirrel maybe? Gabby tried to keep herself from laughing as she blushed a little and gulped some milk down.
“Good. Cause I don’t think I could ever change even if I wanted to,” she laughed once her mouth was no longer packed with chocolate cookie. “But yea, you’re right.” She smiled, dunking another cookie into her cup.

Just as Embry thought he was able to handle what he was coming for him next, Gabby took his reply and made it more difficult to follow up. She had always had the uncanny ability of making him slightly comfortable, which was something he had immediately started feeling when she started talking to him just less than an hour ago when they bumped into each other. The only difference now is that it was mixed in with a very blissful sensation that made his blood pulse. There was a time when he would just blush and remain silent, but there was something pulling him along, pushing and daring him to keep up with her. "I don't know about either of those," he told her. "I'm not big on wearing tights." He took a sip, considering the implications, trying his best to not laugh and keep the 'serious' face he was trying to hold. "But if I got to drove the Batmobile... maybe. Could I wear sweats instead?"
Just as he was about to take another cookie, Embry heard the softest rustle outside, which made his eyes snap towards the nearest window. It wasn't likely Gabby had heard it; his hearing was ultra sensitive and the wolves could easily move in silence and avoid detection. His time with Gabby being slightly tainted, he realized that he'd lost track of time. Damn. He was supposed to meet Noel soon, but he couldn't possibly think of leaving. The thought alone made his stomach rumble in protest. "So I'm guessing along the lines of Batman and Batgirl, if I'm gonna be conned into it," he conceded, turning colors again but somehow able to look at her dead on. He wasn't ready to leave yet, and he'd stall as long as he could.

Gabby wasn’t ready for a response from him, though of course she had wanted one. She just remembered young Embry, the one that gave her attitude and acted like she had a disease that would wipe off on him God forbid they had contact. It was that same repulsive quality he used to show her that always made her want to create contact, to hug him, to pinch his cheek like grandmothers did in movies. All the fun stuff, she smiled at the silly memory. But this, this was like Embry 3.0, the updated and better adapted version.
She laughed at the thought of him in tights and looked under the table. “Eh, you wouldn’t look to bad in tights, unless you have chicken legs beneath your jeans.” She laughed and sat up straight once more, “If you drove the Batmobile you could wear whatever you wanted,” she laughed, “That car is pimp. No one would even look to see if you matched.” She smiled and took a sip of her milk only pausing mid-sip to watch him. His eyes had changed directions so fast she knew she would have possibly gotten a little dizzy or set her eye to twitching. That, was a very odd feeling.
“Who would have known it was that easy to con you,” she laughed, “should have tried that year’s ago.” Gabby smiled and took another bite of her cookie, her eyes peering out the window in hopes of catching a glimpse of what had to be so interesting. The girl picked up her cup and followed the wet ring on the table with her pointer finger. “Did you have to be somewhere?” she asked with a gentle smile. No need to seem to needy despite she the fact she was enjoying the attention.

Shaking his head and chuckling, he tried his very best not to picture himself in tights, not even to indulge her. Now that she was talking cars, though, he perked up and grinned widely. "The Batmobile is ok," he told her, "but I think KITT from Knightrider is awesome too." If a car could talk to him and help him get out of sticky situations, he wouldn't have to worry about fighting vampires so much. Unfortunately for him, not even he and his buddies could figure out how to make a car like that.
Embry's widened slightly when Gaby caught his glance out the window. He was almost certain that there was someone out there, probably listening in and reporting to anyone else that was phased. He automatically thought of Noel, and hoped that she wasn't listening in. "No," he answered no quickly. "I just thought I heard something outside." It was mostly true, though he couldn't exactly tell her who he thought it was. "Do you still do a lot of art stuff?" he asked as a rebound, hoping to change the subject. He remembered her frequently spotted with paint and having multicolored fingertips.
