[PRE-TWILIGHT] The corridors of the Volturi's lair that lay beneath the enclosed city of Volterra were ever so silent as Antonia glided through them, on her way to no particular room; just wandering for wandering's sake. She had been here with the Volturi half a century by this point, give or take a few years, and knew her way around every nook and cranny like the back of her alabaster hand.
The way she moved was like she floated on air, her head held high; demure, regal. She never exuded this appearance until after she came to this place. The Volturi brought it out in an individual, the way they existed. She found more poise with herself. She watched them, studied their mannerisms, cultivated her own as a result and was proud to see herself as one of them. In no short of terms, she felt glamorous, being a part of their coven. She acquired a taste for fine things, which showed in her style of dress. She was always at the height of fashion or ahead of it. Only the best was good enough.
Currently, she was decked in a rather svelt, late Victorian gown made mostly of rich crimson silk and while she missed the bustle from the last decade or so, this trimmer style of dress reminded her closer of the styles she wore when she was still human. Her arms were bare in this particular dress and her hair pulled up off her neck. And of course, the crimson of the dress more than brought out the vivid crimson of her eyes.
She wondered as she wandered, thinking of those who resided with the Volturi, currently, and those who stayed in the past; wondering where they were now, with whom, doing what. And it brought her mind to the most recent news circulating the Volturi's underground lair.
Eleazer and Carmen were leaving. It was saddening. She enjoyed their company well and it didn't hurt that Eleazer had always been pleasant on the eyes. It brought a frown to her beautiful mouth as she pondered them no longer being a part of the Volturi family. Tag: Eleazer, Carmen...any other Volturi, ca. 1890-1910

Eleazar had already spoken with Aro with his love Carmen about their desired departure from the city. Though he knew their leader had been disappointed to see them go, they were able to leave on pleasant terms with his blessing and an open invitation to come back at any point should they tire of traveling. Eleazar would not rule out returning, as he did have a high respect for the Volturi. Perhaps all that he and Carmen needed was some time for themselves. Maybe they needed to be out from under the pressure of the guard, and away from the distasteful aspects that they had both grown weary of. But maybe they would find this new lifestyle suited them better. Most of all, he knew that he wanted to keep Carmen happy. He knew if she were happy then he would be as well.
Now that permission had been granted, he knew that he and Carmen would be departing in the next couple of days. Eleazar would miss aspects of this place that had been his home for so long. He had decided to take a walk through the hallways, to take in the surroundings one more time, not knowing if or when he would return again and wanting to remember its beauty. The Volturi were known for appreciation of the arts among other things and it showed it the very architecture and decor of their home.
Eleazar walked at a slow speed, closer to a human's than a speed which he was actually capable of. He was not in any rush at the moment, just enjoying a stroll around the grounds. As he turned a corner he saw Antonia, a guard he had always gotten along well with for her rather calm nature and level headedness. He gave a light smile as he approached her. "Hello Antonia"

Carmen wandered through the chilled depths of the enclosed Volturi headquarters, her long dark hair floating loose over her shoulders, much in opposition to the human fashion of the time. On her face was a quiet, contented smile. Now that everything about their departure had been organised and blessed by the Volturi masters, Carmen felt a lot calmer and distinctively happy. Now she knew for sure that she had Eleazar would have the rest of their respective eternities to travel with each other as soul mates without the pressure of being part of the questionable Volturi guard pressing down on them.
She paused at a corner, taking in a long breath as she recognised the edge of a scent - the most pleasing one to her - and one that she wanted to follow. She took off towards Eleazar, hoping he wasn't busy with the remnants of his guard duties at the moment. She would miss people here, though. It wasn't as if she had decided that the whole organisation was despicable to her, she more questioned their methods. If they were to clean up their act a little and perhaps have a fairer and more compassionate system of justice then maybe she would feel comfortable returning to be part of it all again. Then again, maybe after a few short years of travelling they would want to be within a social context again.
"Eleazar," she called softly as she rounded another corner and caught sight of her beloved. She extended him the soft, loving smile that had always been reserved for just him, before realising that there was another there. Happily it was a member of the guard that she was quite familiar with and got on with beyond most others. "Antonia, buneos noches."

The hairs on the back of Antonia's neck perked and her ears attuned to the sound of footsteps; even as lightly and silently as a vampire's steps were, for another vampire it was still quite audible. It was hard to sneak up on one another, intentional or not.
"Eleazer," she spoke with a ghost of a smile on her lips. She turned her head, looking just slightly over her left shoulder as he moved closer before fully turning her own body to face him. "One final walk down memory lane before you leave us?" Antonia questioned lightly, clasping her hands together in front of her, her head tilted just so.
Before an answer was received, Antonia immediately raised her gaze beyond Eleazer's shoulder to the figure of Carmen rounding the corner into their particular section of the passageway. Antonia sent a small smile to the other female, and Carmen's mate.
"Buenos noches," Antonia repeated the greeted. "I was just asking Eleazer if he were taking a walk down memory lane. Are you doing the same, or in need of Eleazer for last minute packing?" Straightening her head she looked between the two. "You will be greatly missed, of course. It is never quite the same when a member of the coven leaves. It is as if a part of us leaves as well."

Eleazar's smile grew as he took in the scent of his mate and knew that she was nearby. He turned his head in the direction it was coming from and saw her walk over to him, moving softly and gracefully as she almost floated over the marble floors of the castle. "Carmen, mi amour" He spoke softly and sweetly to her, always feeling more whole when she was with him.
He turned his attention back towards Antonia. "I thought that I would take in the view and reminisce a little. " Eleazar told her, not knowing when or if he and Carmen might return to Volterra, even just for a visit. He did have some fond memories of being here, and knew that he had been able to serve a purpose. There would be things and people he would miss from being in the guard. He wondered how he and his love would adjust to living life on their own away from the more social aspects of being a part of the guard. He didnt think he held the mindset anymore to live as a nomad, but he would go anywhere with her.
"That's very kind of you" Eleazar told Antonia as she spoke of them being missed. "Who knows, maybe someday fate will bring us back...until then, we'll miss you and some of the others as well. You've always been a good friend here" He spoke truthfully, having never really had any quarrels with her.

Antonia smiled demurely. "I know we could run to the other side of the earth faster than a letter would reach us, but the sentiment still stands that I would love to hear of your travels and wherever it is you end up, once you get there," she insisted, looking between the couple. "There are a handful of those who have left us over the last half decade that I still wish I was in contact with. Luckily I have my Richard to occupy my time, that along with my painting which I do so enjoy and of course Aro and the others always having a task that needs exacting." She smiled again, more impishly. It was well known amongst the Volturi members without the gifts Aro valued that the duties they were given were the more trivial.
"Have either of you any thoughts as to where you will be headed or will you be leaving it to chance?"

Eleazar smiled sensing true honesty in her sentiment of wishing to hear from him again in the future. It was nice to know that they had made enough of an impact while here that they would be missed. More than that personally he felt it nice to know he would be missed for more than the gifts that their leaders relied on him for. "I will be sure to keep in touch, and if we settle for a time, let you know where you can do the same for us" He said knowing he would like to still find out from time to time what she and the guard were up to.
Eleazar nodded as she mentioned having Richard and her painting to occupy her time. "If I don't see him before we leave, please give Richard my regards" He told her. He turned to Carmen as Antonia asked if they had any plans of where they were headed. He wondered if she had certain locations in mind, he had a few ideas, but nothing set in stone. "I'm not sure we've decided completely" He said leaving it open if Carmen wanted to interject. "I was thinking we may take a trip through Spain, it's been some time since either of us have been back to our home country"
