Taymos bit her lip as she walked into La Push High School. She felt even more conserved then usual and had to resist the urge to turn and run. She hated this. 'Why couldn't we of just stayed in our old town...' She thought miserably, silently cursing. She kept her head down, keeping her face covered. She hated being stared at and could feel the stares. She just wanted to turn and run, and however delightful that thought was to her, she knew she couldn't. Unless she wanted to risk having a big fight at home and breaking her family up even more then it already was.
But she just wanted to leave.
But, she knew this wasn't possible considering she couldn't go home because her mother was still there. And her brother would end up getting mad at her, not to mention she would get grounded for a long time for ditching...expecially on her first day. She sighed quietly and at that moment, bumped into someone. "Oh, I'm so sorry." Taymos said, looking at them with apologetic, and cautious, eyes.

Jayla frowned as she strutted down the halls of La Push's local High School. After a whole summer of working, designing clothes and hanging on the beach with her cousin she had finally come full circle and was back in school. She wasn't usually this dark about school, but she'd enjoyed her summer too much to let it go. 'Oh well, it kills a few hours I suppose' she thought dejectedly.
As she turned onto the main corridor of La Push High, a group of rowdy boys staring at her caught her eye. She glared at them with a vengeance. It wasn't that she was anti-social, these kind of boys just made her want to gag and scream. Jae knew that she was pretty. Heck, all of the Quilete girls were. But it was boys that took a fancy to girls with looks that really irked her. She sighed and almost sprinted passed them, ignoring the teacher yelling at her for 'running in an public place'.
Though she didn't get very far. Jayla gave an 'oof' as something knocked into her from behind. Turning around, she came face to face with a timid looking girl. She stood a little taller than Jayla, and though she didn't appear to be of Quilete descent, she had a strange, child-like beauty to her. Jae's narrowed eyes softened the tiniest bit as she saw that the girl was as lost as Little Bo Peep's Sheep. Rolling her eyes, she dragged the girl by the arm out the way of the stampede. "Look, you're obviously new, so here's some tips." she began, speaking quickly "the office is right there, next to the staircase. Avoid this hallway at all costs if you wanna survive school.Got it? Good." As she said this, Jayla indicated with her hand where the office was. Giving the timid girl a gentle, but firm shove in it's direction, Jae gave a half smile and walked away without asking for her name.
"This year just got interesting." she thought, heading in the direction of her homeroom, English Room 4.

Taymos looked at the girl before her, fearing slightly that she might end up already making an enemy. She gulped. She also noticed the girl had narrowed eyes. But they softened...a bit. Not much, or at least not enough to make Taymos calm. She felt like she was ice cold. 'But...' she thought. 'if this girl isn't too mad at me...maybe she'll help...?' Taymos thought feebly. She knew the chance was slim, or at least thought that. To her surprise, the girl she had run into rolled her eyes, pulled her aside and spoke quickly and lowly to her, helping her out.
Taymos glanced at where the girl indicated the office was. Then, she felt the girl give her a soft shove towards it. She blinked abit, then walked into the office. She quickly got her schedule and walked out of the office. She glanced at it, pursing her lips.
'So my homeroom would be...English Room 4.' She thought, nodding to herself. She walked the halls for a bit and soon found the room. She walked in and was slightly surprised to see the girl she bumped into in there. She felt everyone look at her. The teacher told her to sit down in an empty seat. She scanned the room quickly and found that the only seat open was by the girl she had bumped into. She covered her face with her hair as she walked to the seat. Then she sat, biting her lower lip and she folded her schedule up and put it in her pocket.

Jae slipped into her homeroom quietly. Nodding to people that shouted greetings at her. When she found her beloved seat, she collapsed into it with a long sigh. She'd survived the first twenty minutes, things were going well. 'Oh great, I've just jinxed myself!' she thought. Jayla decided to doodle whilst she waited for the reigster to begin. Rummaging through her bag, she finally found her art book and got to work on her latest design. The design itself was very basic; a short, yet elegant, knee length dress that had a sophisticated purple color.
It was a surprise to her when her name was called out for the register, she'd been so caught up in designing that she'd zoned out. After muttering a quick response to her teacher, she cast her gaze around the room. Jayla started when she saw the new girl sitting next to her. When had she come in?
Jae saw that she was using her hair as a curtain, blocking out everyone possible. She snorted quietly at the girl's nerve. Tearing out a piece of paper, she scribbled a quick note and passed it to the girl. She'd been sure to do it when the class' attention was occupied by the cute jock that had just walked in.
The note read:
Hey, I see you made it OK. Looks like we'll be seeing alot of eachother. Since you're sat next to me, It's my job to show you around. Kay?
P.s. the name's Jayla Thail.

Taymos noticed the girl she had bumped into (she thought at that moment, 'I really need to learn her name.'), was drawing, or sketching something. She was slightly curious as to what it was, but not really. She kept her hair over her face as she fiddled with her hands in front of her on the desk. If she wanted to just leave earlier, then she wanted to bolt for the door as if there was a bomb ticking, set off to explode in seconds. 'Just nerves...I need to focus.' She thought, calming herself. Then a piece of paper landed in front of her. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly but she unfolded it and opened it. It was from the girl. Taymos read the message, slight surprise coursing through her. She shook her head, confused by her reaction. Maybe it was just because she could've just made a new friend. She sighed softly, got out a pen and wrote her reply.
I guess we will be seeing each other often. And thanks for the offer to show me around, but you don't have to if you don't want to.
And by the way, my name is Taymos Saphs. Nice to meet you.
She passed it quietly back to the girl, no one noticing her when she scanned the nearby people, to see if anyone noticed. She felt relief, yet new apprehension.

Jayla smirked, folding Taymos' reply in half. Turning in her seat, she rested her chin on her hands, surveying the now silent room. Everyone had turned around to stare at the new novelty prize, the new transfer student, the odd one out. She felt slightly annoyed by this. Couldn't they do something else besides add to her apprehension? The girl looked like she was about to run for her life, screaming as she went. 'I woudn't blame her, thats exactly what I did on my first day..' she thought bitterly. Though she was brought out of her musings as the bell rang, signalling the start of first period.
Rising gracefully, Jae turned around to wait for Taymos to gather her belongings. They shared their first period together, English Literature. Joy. "So..." Jayla began, casting around for a safe topic of conversation "We've got first lesson together, let's walk together so you don't end up in the cafeteria by mistake, Okay?" In her head she was scolding herself for sounding too harsh. But that was just how she was. She wasn't used to letting people in, but this girl seemed trust worthy.. she seemed genuine. Jae hoped she could get to know her better in the near future.

Taymos now noticed that the room had gone silent. She peeked through her hair and stiffened. Everyone was staring at her. But, then she eased up a bit, though she was still strained. She wanted to run. And she wanted to hide. It was like a spotlight was on her. Then again, their basically was; she was the new student. Of course people would stare. It was a natural reaction...for everyone else. She knew staring at the new kid was what most did. She didn't. And she wanted to be in the dark, the background. She didn't like being the center of attention. She felt relief as the bell rang, turning all of the curious stares off her. She looked up as Jayla started speaking. She nodded slightly. They did have first period together. "Umm...sure. Thanks." Taymos said quietly, gathering her things. Then she walked out of the room with Jayla.
"So...is there anyone in particular I should watch out for?" she asked softly, trying to make conversation. But, deep inside, she really did want to know.

Jae snorted. "Oh yeah, trust me there are tons of people you may want to avoid.." she giggled, picturing all of those whom had taken an instant disliking to her. "There's this one girl, she's a total air head, thinks the world of herself...Then there's the Jocks..though they are super cute...Then you have all of the wannabee's 'nuff said. Then... I guess there's me..." As she said this, Jayla gave a small shrug and looked dead ahead. That probably wasn't the best thing to say... but it had just.. come out. She would have to be on her guard more than ever.
Leading Taymos through a shortcut, the girls arrived infront of a small doorway with a massive window at the side of it. 'English Literature... ah well, I'll just sketch she thought smugly. Turning to Taymos she planted a huge smile on her face. "TAY! Welcome to your first hour of boredom at La Push High!" she exclaimed dramatically. And with that, she dragged her maybe friend into the classroom.

Taymos listened to all of the people Jayla said to avoid, but her eyebrows furrowed when Jayla said that she should avoid her. "I don't see why you would be one of the people I should avoid. You're the only one who I've met, and you seem nice enough." she said, looking at her. She pursed her lips as she studied Jayla's expression. It seemed...strained to Taymos. As if she had said something not to be told. She just brushed it off though. She probably shouldn't ask.
She recognized the fake huge smile on Jayla's face. She saw some sarcasm in her expression too. Then she chuckled softly at her dramatic exclamation of the 'first period of boredom'. She had started getting accustomed to her personality. She rolled her eyes as Jayla dragged her into class.
But, this time, Taymos had to sit clear across the room from Jayla. She waved slightly, then headed to her seat, conscious of the eyes on her once again. But, it seemed she had eased up some. She put her things on her desk, then covered her face with her hair again as she sat.
'Again with the stares!' She thought, exasperated.

Jae gave Taymos a small wave as she departed for her seat. She felt a little lonely now that the new girl was gone, she'd wanted to spend atleast a little more time getting to know her, but oh well. Not everything in life was fair. As the teacher stalked in, Jayla took out her notebook and started sketching more dress designs, though in her head she was picturing this one for Taymos. It would reach just below the knees and would be very modest, but not too outstandish. The color's would be simple yet bold. 'I'd love to see her in this... it would match her so well!' she thought sullenly.
Looking over, Jae saw a few boys staring at Taymos as she tried to concentrate. She saw the way Tay's frame was held, strong and steady, letting everyone know that she didn't want their attention. Again, the flare of admiration for this girl grew. She had such a genuine aura to her... maybe she could help Jae in the long run.
Shrugging, she turned back to doodling, letting her mind take over as she zoned out. But, alas, all good things have to end. Jayla quickly stood up as the teacher called on her to answer a question, one which she didn't know... "Erm..." she started off, trying to gather her thoughts "I don't know... to be honest. Maybe you should ask Evelyn though, she looks like she knows it."
The classroom erupted into a peal of laughter at this, sounding like a pack of over grown hyeanas. Jae caught Taymos' eye and gave a comical wink before being issued an detention slip for afterschool.

Taymos sighed quietly, not very pleased with being stared at. She had noticed that most were boys. But, she didn't acknowledge them, just concentrated on the lesson. She saw from the corner of her eye Jayla sketching something, as she had in their homeroom class. Taymos didn't ponder what she could be drawing, not really that curious. She felt her attention come straight-forward towards Jayla though, when she heard the teacher call on her. She chuckled quietly at Jayla's comment. Then rolled her eyes at the comical wink.
Class went by very soon for Taymos and before she knew it, class was over. She almost got stopped by a few guys, but ignored them, heading to Jayla. "Was the comment really worth a detention?" She asked, chuckling softly. She caught a glimpse of what Jayla was drawing though; a dress. She kept her mind off of the drawing, waiting for Jayla's response. She really didn't find a simple comment worth a detention...much.

Jayla snickered as Taymos walked over to her, atleast she'd made the English lesson more entertaining, right? "Well, to be fair that comment sooo wasn't worth a detention!" Jae began "but, that teacher as hated me ever since I moved in with my cousin, Ali." She snickered again and threw the teacher a dirty look. "Guess hanging out after school is out of the question.
Shrugging, Jayla pulled Taymos along behind her as she exited the classroom, though stopped right outside the door. 'here goes..' she thought. Ripping the dress design she had been drawing out of her sketchpad, she handed it to the stunned looking girl. "What do you think of this dress Tay?"

Taymos sighed, pursing her lips in displeasure. "Why exactly does the teacher hate you?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. She walked with Jayla to the door of the classroom, waiting for her answer. She was slightly surprised when she ripped a dress design out of her sketch pad.
It was something Taymos would wear...if she ever had a completely reasonable time to wear a dress. She didn't really like wearing dresses...Again, she was surprised when Jayla, this time, asked her opinion on it. She took it gingerly from Jayla and looked it over with careful eyes. She pursed her lips for a second, then handed it back. "I like it. But, why do you want my opinion? Its not like it matters." She said, dubious. She was dumbfounded. Because it really wasn't like her opinion mattered...it never did.
