Alice's forewarning of the weather had actually come as a bit of relief to Rosalie. She'd taken the opportunity to steal away with Emmett for those few days they'd be out of school and just drove North. They were directionless for a while until they hit a dense wood that lined the Canadian Border. They'd skillfully camouflaged the Jeep and hunted for a few hours, pausing only for a bit to enjoy the sun while they were in a secluded spot. After admiring the rainbows that bounced off their skin, they quickly jumped back onto the road and headed back to Forks.
They had been perfectly at ease in the last three mile stretch that lead to their home, but they exchanged suspicious glances when they crossed a scent they didn't recognize. It was sweet and potent, like that of their kind, but it also was reminiscent of a human as well. Emmett had forced the Jeep faster to reach their home. From outward appearances, it seemed at peace, but they quickly jumped out and raced to the door. Everyone's car was there, surely they had sense this presence by now. Rose's body tensed as she paused at the door before turning the knob. With Emmett at her flanks, she walked into the house and quickly scanned the open first floor of their home. No one there. "Hello?" she called out in a normal volume, edge lacing her tone. Someone was bound to hear her, and if it was someone unwelcome, at least she wasn't alone.
The scent they'd detected was saturated throughout the first floor. The smallest wrinkle of confusion colored her brow as she waited for something and she started reaching into her pocket for her cell phone.

Edward raised his head, sensing his sister's arrival. He could hear her thoughts as she neared before he picked up her scent, probably because the new half vampire's scent was so strong around him now that she had returned. Edward knew Rosalie had picked up on the scent at well and was confused. He started moving towards the entryway to reassure her.
"Rose, it's alright" Edward told her calmly, knowing this would be a shock for her as it was for the rest of them. The other Cullens had a few days to come to terms with what Jayden was; knowing that someone like her existed. "We have a visitor, someone you should meet"

Just as Rose was about to hit Carlisle on her speed dial, her head shot up in the direction of her brother's voice. It was moments like these that she considered his ability less-than-obnoxious like she normally. Surely he had heard the doubt verging on panic as she had approached the house, confused by this new scent.
Rosalie visibly relaxed her stance when Edward approached, deciding that his voice was calm and sincere. "Someone could have called me and let me know before I had an aneurysm," she retorted sharply, though the relief was evident in her voice. Before she got herself into another argument, she allowed her golden eyes question Edward's. "This scent... I've never sensed anything like it."

"Sorry" Edward said, honestly feeling guilty that no one had called Emmett and Rosalie. No one had wanted to bother them during the time they took for themselves, but they should have thought ahead to the panic they might feel when they returned. "We didn't want to interupt, and it was nothing you needed to worry about" He said, trying to assure her that this wasn't a new problem that had come up. There was nothing they needed her and Emmett to do.
He nodded as she commented on having never sensed anything like it before. "I know, we haven't either. She's a hybrid, half vampire. "

Pure curiosity dominated Rosalie's thoughts, allowing the fact that they had temporarily overlooked her. Though she did appreciate her time with Emmett, those few seconds of panic when she thought her family might be in danger were almost not worth it. It was probably unnecessary, since they usually outnumbered any visitor even without Rosalie and Emmett, but it was uncommon that she wasn't around. "It's ok," she feeling more relief as Edward pacified her, calming her thoughts.
The wheels in Rosalie's mind screeched to a halt when she heard him describe their guest. After the smallest moment of shock, her mind picked up where it left off at an accelerated rate that included new questions she couldn't find her voice to ask. A hybrid? Between vampire and human? How was that even possible? Rose's relief was partially replaced by discomfort at the knowledge of something she was not familiar with. None of them were, since they surely would have spoken of it before. What was she doing here of all places?

Edward was relieved when Rosalie appeared more curious than angry. Her curiousity made her even appear to overlook (for now at least) the fact that they had kept her out of the loop. They would have time to discuss that later, after she found out more about their new guest, of which he was sure that she had many questions.
Edward didn't wait for Rosalie's brain to transfer her thoughts to words before starting to answer. He knew that the sooner she got any answers he had, the calmer she would be. "Her mother was human...her father was a vampire" He said quietly, not sure how close by Jayden was at the moment. "None of us thought it was possible either. Her father knew Carlisle, mentioned him to her, so she came"

Rose's intense beauty was only enhanced when the slightest strains of confusion and shock appeared on her face, her eyes never leaving Edward's. Never in her many, many years had she ever imagined that a human woman would be able to carry a hybrid child in her womb. It was universally known that vampire females would never be able to be with child, something that tainted Rosalie's immortal life to the point of resentment. If she had lived forever, she would have never been able to conceive such a notion; a supernatural reconcilement of the concepts of vampire and childbearing.
This sudden addition to their knowledge of vampire nature and its possibilities suddenly reopened the wound she carried with her for eternity. Emmett and she could live until forever, but they would live it alone. A wave of stinging grief washed over Rosalie as her mind connected these pieces of information together. Her face, unlike her mind, had only betrayed her for merely a split second, but it still took her a few seconds to recover. Emmett, who had also pieced together everything, also immediately knew what Rose was thinking. Rose composed herself and only allowed him the lightest touch on her hand. He knew better than to try anything more than that while they were not alone. She quickly reined in her thoughts, assuring Edward that she was fine in the process. "Well," she said a little bit too calmly, "I guess it would be rude of us if we didn't introduce ourselves."

Jayden sat alone at the counter in Cullen's bright expansive kitchen. Infront of her was a picked over cheese sandwich. She'd caught the scent as the two new Vampires entered the house. After her conversation a few days before with Esme, Carlisle and Edward they had explained their family. She had returned now because Edward was going show her around and introduce her to his siblings. Jayden looked in the direction of the hall when she heard the voice of the female it seemed Edward was explaining about her. She decided to remain here until called for, no need to interupt what already seemed like a tense conversation. Jayden understood her appearence and breeding could take a little getting used too.
(OOC: Just wanted to establish where Jayden was and that she eats. Personally not able to eat cheese.)

Edward remained quiet for awhile, allowing the news to sink in for Rosalie. He didn't need to be able to hear her thoughts to know what she was thinking about. He knew from the moment he met Jayden that Rosalie would be envious when she found out. Unfortunately Rosalie and Emmett would never have children of their own, something Edward knew Rosalie, like Emse, would have loved to have.
When Rosalie seemed to have collected her thoughts and decided she was ready to go meet Jayden, Edward nodded. "She's in the kitchen...having a sandwich" He explained, knowing that the knowledge that the half vampire ate human food was also something that may catch Rosalie off guard. He wanted her as prepared as possible. He couldn't help but think it was a good thing they had their kitchen stocked with actual food for Bella's visits, it was coming in handy now as well.
Edward walked into the kitchen, knowing Rosalie would follow behind him. "Jayden..." He said quietly as he entered in case she had not heard his approach so that he wouldn't startle her. "I'd like you to meet my sister, Rosalie"

Though she tried her best, Rosalie could only keep her more troubling thoughts to a minimal distraction, unable to banish them entirely. This girl had a piece of humanity that they all yearned for, a sentiment that Rosalie carried with her always. It was why they lived the way they did; interacting with humans, going to school and work. Even if they could fake humanity, it helped them face eternity. A pang of envy slowly began to color her thoughts as they concentrated on the implications. It wasn't as bad as her resentment for Bella, but it was still there. But this new guest was distraction enough to keep the main tone of her thoughts in the region of curiousity and shock. She gave Emmett the shortest glance with the calmest possible expression she could conjure. The traces of shock reappeared when Edward spoke. Human food? And when he said she was nearby in the kitchen, Rosalie forced herself to get a grip and extend her senses, smelling the trail that lead to where he had indicated. Once she regained control of her senses, she heard the girl as well. Not just in the slow breaths from her lungs or her fingers shredding the bread of her sandwich, but in her fluttering hearbeat. Remembering that there were a lot of things she didn't know, apparently, she took Edward's lead into the kitchen.
Sensing Emmett right behind her, she crossed the doorway and allowed Edward to speak first. Caution and curiosity dominated the features of her perfect face when she looked at the auburn-haired hybrid. Nodding slightly, she offered a small frigid smile, not quite being able to be friendly. "It's nice to meet you, Jayden," she said formally, "This is my husband, Emmett." She glanced at the tall, muscular vampire beside her, who smiled openly and friendly at Jayden as if they were already friends.

As Edward spoke her name Jayden's head shot up from the sandwich she's been breaking apart. She smiled a little unsure at the blonde he introduced; "Hi." She nodded. As the tall brunette male smiled at her she felt a little more at ease. She nodded again. "Your family have been so welcoming. " She looked to edward again. "Thank you again for all of this." She smiled then looked back at her sandwich once before pushing it away, aware that the eating may make the other uncomfortable. "The other mentioned you two went away for a few days, good trip? She asked hoping to open a friendly communication with the pretty blonde.

Rosalie fought for composure as her senses took in new information on this half being. Now that she was in the same room as Jayden, she was enveloped in this new, strange scent. It and the thumping blood underneath her skin fought for her attention. How was this even possible? How could such a being exist before them? The smallest look of longing interrupted her attempt to a welcoming smile as she registered the girls brown eyes and flushed cheeks. Even her skin, though still pale, still appeared more human than supernatural.
"I'm glad you're finding our home enjoyable," she replied stiffly. Emmett quickly excused himself, giving Rose a warning glance to behave herself, and swiftly made his way to the football game that was about to start on TV. "Our trip was great," she answered, hardly remembering that she was gone. "We went further North than usual." As her thoughts of envy, curiosity, shock, confusion and others competed for dominance in her mind, Rosalie couldn't quite bring herself to ask the first question. Where was she to start? "Excuse the bluntness," she said, not sounding sorry at all, "But I'd like to know more. Surely, you can understand that we've never heard of a hybrid before." Curiosity had won out, for now. She looked at Edward, wondering if there was something in this that would have her react poorly. He would know already, knowing the girls thoughts and her own as well.

Jayden half smiled, although she could appreciate Rosalie’s bluntness she was never completely comfortable been in the spotlight of conversation. However, in the interest of making friends she was prepared to help her understand what she, the newcomer, was. She saw Rosalie look at Edward in some silent communication and once again Jayden marveled at how close this family truly was. “I understand I’m something of a rarity, or maybe oddity would be better.” Jayden pushed away the plate before continuing, “My mother was human, and my father was your kind. I was the result though my mother didn’t survive.” She paused a moment, more for her own emotions to calm down then for the information to settle in. Taking a deep breath she continued, “I’m a perfect half and half of both worlds. Live but don’t age, blood and food.” She looked to Edward and laughed; “Clip notes.” She said then looking back to Rosalie, “But if you want to know more, just ask. I’m an open book.” She shrugged figuring she’d nothing to hide from these people especially after the frank conversation she’d had with Esme, Carlisle and Edward a few days ago.

Watching in awe as the girl spoke, Rosalie felt jealous she'd been holding back force itself forward against her will. This strange new girl, though still immersed in a live with immortals and monsters, had features that Rosalie had not had in almost 80 years. She'd not felt her heart beat nor bleed when struck. Food was a long lost memory. The small things Rosalie had been too arrogant and naive to appreciate. It was all taken away from her too soon and she didn't realize how much she needed them until was living with Carlisle. Despite her superior anatomy, Rose's breath caught slightly. "Well," she said in the lowest of her musical tones, not trusting her voice any louder, "I'm very sorry about your parents." While there were things that Rosalie Hale missed or lacked, she had been fortunate to have always had parents, in both lives.
Her glance turned again to Edward when Jay joked with him, finding it hard that she'd already gotten so close to her family. She wanted to take the girl's offer seriously. She definitely wanted to know more... know everything. But she wasn't sure where to start. "I'm... not sure what is pertinent here," she admitted in an unusual display of awkwardness. "Why did you come to us?" She could't imagine how an impossible being would suddenly show up to their home, but then again Rosalie's life was in a world she had thought impossible before.

Jayden could feel Rosalie’s unease at this new situation. The last thing she wanted to do was make anyone feel uncomfortable, especially in their own home. She smiled at Rose and hoped with appeared as she meant it; warm and open. “It’s ok – about my parents.” Her features clouded for a moment and for the first time in a long time she thought about her parents without anger, “They loved each other. And my father couldn’t live without my mother – his soul mate. I only hope to find that love one day. Anyone who has that is lucky.” She hoped to strike a chord with this woman, it was clear even from the briefest of seconds that the man who had entered with her was her soul mate. When Rosalie asked why she was there Jayden felt like she was starting all over again, but she smiled. “My father mentioned Carlisle’s name before he left to be with my mother again. I spent years avoiding coming to find him until one day I was at your door. I honestly don’t know what made me come now, but I’m glad I did. Your family has been so welcoming.” Jayden stopped and tried to look at this situation from the reverse; how would she feel if someone like her turned up out of nowhere. “Please don’t think I’ve come to ask for anything, or to endanger your family’s way of life. I pose not threat. I just want to be friends.” As cliché as that sounded now, Jayden meant what she said. There was something about Rosalie, maybe because she seemed to be everything Jayden wasn’t; confident, in control of her emotions, honest and amazingly beautiful.
