Rosalie felt a little bit of devaju while the girl spoke of her parents. In the same thought, she automatically made the connection to her brother. The sensitive vampire that falls for the human girl. The vampire unable to live without his human soulmate. A recent guilt suddenly crept upon her, recalling when she was almost personally responsible for her brother's demise. Edward could not live without Bella, she knew that now, though she had to learn it in the most frightening way.
And now it seemed that a similar connection between a vampire and human had left this hybrid stranger without a family. But she sought friends, it was the only thing her father had left her with. She couldn't blame the girl, spending eternity alone was incomprehensible. There had been a moment of doubt when Carlisle thought Rose might want to go her own way. She had panicked at the thought. She could not bear it alone. Nodding was the only thing Rosalie could manage with sincerity. Acknowledgment, a bit of understanding, perhaps. It was still a little too much for her. She took the girl's assurances to heart and, and again, nodded. She was aware that she hadn't said anything again, it was unlike for her, Rosalie Hale, to be at a loss for words. Trying not to let the shock and confusion be too apparent, she instead decided to move. Taking a stool on the counter that wasn't took close to her, she sat down and pulled herself together. "I think we can manage friends," she said stiffly, trying to break through her stress. "Whoever is a friend of Carlisle is certainly welcome here." She had only that to hold on to. If anything, Carlisle would never bring them intentional harm. Whatever Rose was feeling, which she was not sure of herself, it had not been intentional, but was unavoidable.

Edward had already been thinking about the time in his life when he thought that Bella was dead before he even heard it echoed in Rosalie's mind. He could hear her guilt around the situation but felt his own just as strongly. He knew how much pain he had caused his family when he made the decision to try to end his life. They were all against them, but he didn't think any of them would be able to live without the love in their life either. He could understand how Jayden's father would decide he couldn't go on. The pain of losing your soulmate was unbearable.
Edward looked back over at Rosalie as she spoke, trying to get his mind away from the thoughts of such a dark time in his life. He was relieved to see Rosalie begin to accept Jayden, and give her a welcoming here. "She's already making good progress on making friends here" He said smiling warmly at Jayden.

Jayden felt the warmth of acceptance spread through her as Rosalie gave her welcome. She already counted Edward among her small circle of friends, a circle that had only really began since she arrived here. “Thank you Rosalie,” She smiled, “I’m sure this is difficult for you, having someone so human here amongst you. Though I can assure you I have just as many vampire traits as my human ones.” Jayden looked back at the cheese sandwich which sat on the plate in the middle of the counter then she looked over to Rosalie, “What can I say I’m my father’s daughter and sometimes that food just doesn’t cut it.” She laughed as she stood up and took the plate to the trash. She moved at a casual human pace. She placed the sandwich in the trash and the plate into the empty dishwasher. Jayden couldn’t help but smile at the very human kitchen, very human show home kitchen. She felt Rosalie’s apprehension and its resulting silence weighted heavy on the room. Jayden searched for a topic to bring Rose out of herself a little more. She turned and leaned against the sink looking out towards Rosalie and Edward. ”So…” She smiled openly.

Rosalie's intent gaze followed Jayden closely as she picked up the sandwich and threw it out. It smelled disgusting to her, and she could barely imagine anyone with any of their vampire traits that would find it nearly appealing. She could only manage a small, tentative curl on the side of her lip as a response to Jayden's joke.
A thin blanket of tension enveloped Rosalie's mind. Confused, resentful, the incessant feeling of being cheated. Carlisle had told her that she may never overcome them. Ever. She tried her best to reveal too much on her expression. Hybrid or not, she was a complete stranger and had no business knowing what was going on in her mind unlike some other people present in the room at the moment. "So..." she repeated, forcing a lighter tone to ring from her voice, "what can you tell me about your life? How old are you?"

Jayden smiled at Rosalie in an attempt to alter the atmosphere in the room. She moved back over to the counter and sat back down opposite the pretty vampire. “Me? Well, I’m an open book.” She smiled again and shrugged before continuing, “I am actually 43, though I stopped aging at 14 when I already appeared this way.” She glanced over at Edward before continuing on with the story which he already knew most of, “My father and yours ‘worked’ together in the Volturi, and it was he who directed me to Carlisle. Though I took the long road to get here, in truth I was never too certain about coming. I guess fear of the unknown is a big fear.” For second Jayden glanced out of the large kitchen window in to the vast yard beyond. A part of her was still a little unsure about the decisions that had led her to be sitting here. Taking another deep breath she looked back to Rosalie. “My mother was human and my father fell deeply in love with her. No logic could stop either of them and by the time it was too late my own heart was beating inside of my mother. My birth killed her.” She looked over to Edward hope he understood that she still felt guilt but no longer blamed herself completely for that,
“My father raised me all over the world, but he never got over her death. He took himself to Volterra a little after my 18th birthday.” She stopped there hoping that Rosalie would understand what her father had done, and also because it was still a painful memory. She looked down at the counter and picked at the grout between the tiles.

Rose kept her seat and posture as the girl settled across from her, responding to her prompt. She glanced at Edward, knowing that he was there to ease the introduction between herself and their guest. She just wasn't sure if he was more worried about Jayden or herself. Surely, he was there for their benefit in different capacities, and while she knew Edward respected their minds and usually refrained from intruding, he would be listening in.
Rosalie listened intently as the girl summarized her life thus far. It was evident that there was more to be told behind each fact that she recited about herself; there usually was. Rosalie's resentment throbbed when Jayden mentioned her mother. It was still an unimaginable concept to her. Mortal and immortal, producing a child. Rosalie's many years of reading and her numerous degrees in education in the sciences provided the possible answer as to how this was possible. Mortal women, while weak and frail, still had the ability to be with child; an ability Rosalie had lost to immortality in 1933.
This train of thought had occurred in less than a few seconds and was cut off by several tidbits of other information that Rosalie finally put together. They had not had any significance at first because they had been separated by Jayden's story about her mother. But quickly, Rosalie's expression was cold and suspicious. "The Volturi?" she said flatly, before her posture became stiff and defensive, eyeing the girl from across. "Volterra?" she added, a little louder, her hands gripping the edge of the counter. What was the girl's real purpose here? Was she just playing on their sympathies to get her foot in? To spy on them? The Volturi surely had the resources to send someone on such a mission. She had not forgotten Edward and Bella's retelling of their time in from of the royalty among vampires. While a lot had been kept to themselves since it had been so traumatizing, she knew the highlights of the conversation they had and, most importantly, the condition they'd set in order to allow them to leave freely. Though Edwards was adamantly against it, Bella would have to become one of them. Was this hybrid girl sent to them with her unique parentage to distract them from her mission for the Volturi? "What is the meaning of this?" she said, glancing at Edward.

Edward saw his sister's reaction grow as she got upset hearing the name of the Volturi. He should have been able to predict such a reaction from her, but he hadn't made the connection that she had. Knowing Jaydens thoughts it was obvious to him that she wasn't sent here as a spy from the Volturi. But if he hadn't known, maybe he would have been more suspicious as Rosalie was.
Edward took a step forward towards his sister, trying to calm her before she did anything rash towards their guest. "Rose it's not like that" he said in a calm tone, trying to put her at ease. "She's not from the Volturi, her father was there when Carlisle was. She did not come here because of their bidding" Edward told her. He couldn't be sure that Jayden never visited Volterra, but he did know from ther thoughts that they weren't behind her visit to Forks.

Rosalie's glare did not falter as her brother approached her with soothing words. She wanted to throw insults and accusations... at the both of them. Edward, for involving the human and putting the whole family under the Volturi's spotlight. For allowing their lifestyle to be so selfishly endangered for the girl. And now for taking the girl's thoughts to heart. Surely, Edward had to know that Aro knew how his abilities worked and would instruct any of his subjects in how to circumvent it. How could he be so stupid, always tending to his weaker sensibilities like he had with the girl.
And now this... Jayden, for bursting into their home, using her father's innate curiosity for the unknown, her mother's compassion, her brother's ability and good nature to weasel her way in. Aro was playing dirty in sending this particular warrior, even nit picking at Rose with the girl's rosy cheeks and thumping pulse. "Her father, huh?" she spat, suspiciously still. "How convenient."

Jayden remained still as she watched the exchange between the siblings. She understood that Rosalie had a dislike for her and how she came to be here and he silently chided herself for mention the Volturi. She should have realized that They never had a good effect on anyone. Although Jayden realized the last sentence hadn’t been direct at her she felt the need to speak up.
“I really do not think any of this is a matter of convenience for any party involved. I have delayed this meeting for many years, for most of them deliberately not look for anyone with your father’s name or that of your coven.’ She stopped for a moment and took a shallow, but much needed breath. “As for my father, he did know your father when they both were in Volterra. Though he isn’t with them nor is he with me, now. And I would never do anything for or with the Volturi. I have never even met them.”
She stopped there and looked back down at the tiles on the counter letting her information sink in for Rosalie and the clarification for Edward. It was a few moments before she spoke again. This time she looked up at Edward.
“My father said that for the Volturi I was a very rare prize and they would do anything to have me. He instructed me to never travel to or through any part of Italy.’ She looked to both of them then, “So as you can both see. Never going to or near Italy and avoiding your family; the World for me became a small place.” She laughed lightly and looked down, “Finally coming here opens it up a little.”

Rosalie held onto every string of speech the girl had offered them, seeking the flaw to expose her fraud right then and there. Her thoughts were slightly disorganized as different aspects of the girl competed for the majority of her attention. Her likeness to humans, her scent, her diet... they all were equally as important and disarming as her slight connection to the Volturi. Some of the strings of thought jabbed at hold wounds still, while others prodded at newer worries. It was difficult to decide which ones were more alarming and which ones existed merely on a selfish plane. She listened to the girl's little plea with high suspicions, openly sharing her glare with Edward and Jayden. There was something off here, she just knew it and of course she was always the one that 'overreacted' or 'jumped to conclusions.' Parts of her story made sense, of course. They were not unintelligent so she would have to as convincing as possible. Carlisle's time with the Volturi was well known, though she had never heard of this girl's father in his retellings.
But rationalization was not Rosalie's priority at the moment. Something about this girl made her averse to accepting her right away, if at all. "So let me get this straight," she said evenly without any attempt to restrain the icey tone, "You've been wandering around for years now, avoiding contact with anyone. And all of a sudden, you're looking for friends?" Didn't this sound like a little back up visit? Just a few weeks after a near-death confrontation in Volterra? Why wasn't Edward more suspicious? She thought the human girl was so important to him that something like this would have resulted in a much more cautious Edward. She didn't bother looking at him; she was sure he was aware of the seething thoughts that ran through her mind, grabbing at straws. "Why here? Surely, your father knew more people other than Carlisle," she accused.

Alice had gone out for a bit, more like a walk through the woods, when she'd decided that it was time to head home again. For about twenty minutes she'd sat besided a river, feet drenched, and thought about a lot of things that didn't mean anything to anyone. Her mind wandered from Jasper to Bella than to the things she'd seen in the past and soon to be future. It was than that she'd started to see her family blurred slightly. This had bothered her and never in her life as a vampire had this occured before. So now she'd made the trek to her family, half walking at a human pace and half as a vampire, to a human she appeared like a ghost walking through the trees.
As Alice neared the house her visions began to blur more and were completely blank in other spots, she'd walk through the backdoor of the house, a slight headache causing her to squint her eyes. The scent that occupied the house was different and there seemed to be a heartbeat though it seem to be fast, as if the human was distressed, but it wasn't a human scent that she smelt. It was competely different. Alice overheard Edward's voice than Rosalie followed by another female voice, it sounded high and musical like theirs but it wasn't like their voices. Curious, though a little frustrated, she made her way to where her family and the stranger were at, her face a little puckered.

The icy words that came out of Rosalie’s mouth hit Jayden like a blast of Artic air. Her head shot up and she dropped the smile and glared at Rosalie. She did not see any reason for this blonde to distrust her and treat her with this contempt. Without bothering to look at Edward for defense or explanation Jayden replied to her little triad with the same tone. She knew Edward had seen her temper a few days before, for now at least she was keeping most of it in check.
“Yes that right I was wandering and avoiding contact with all kinds. But you are very mistaken if you think I came her searching for friends and friendships. I simply came here to satisfy my own curiosity about this ‘Carlisle’ my father had spoken about. I neither need nor want friends, thank you.” She blasted back. Calming a little as she prepared to answer the query about her father she spoke, “My father knew others, though not others he would trust enough to have me meet. My Father said Carlisle could teach what he could not. I was curious to see what that was. Though now I wonder if that was just a ploy.”
Again she looked away and shrugged. It was then she caught the scent of another in the house, a new scent. She listened to the dance like steps of the walk that defined it was one of their kind, though the scent told her it wasn’t the human visitor. She looked up quickly in shock and a little fear that this was a trap for her. The rational side of her brain told her they wouldn’t trick her, but she had gone so long without trusting others it was a hard habit to break.
“Who is here?’ she asked in a quick accusing whisper.

Edward knew that things were going far from well for all involved right now. Rosalie was angry with both him and Jayden, Jayden's temper was starting to flare. Rosalie was wrong if she thought that Edward hadn't had any suspcions about the hybrid just showing up on their door. But he had heard her thoughts, he could hear the sincerity in them.
"Rosalie, she's telling the truth. There is no other agenda for her coming here. And we cannot blame her for her father having been in Volterra anymore than she could blame us for Carlisle having been there, neither circumstance makes either party sent here from Volturi" He told her trying to reason with his sister.
Edward could hear the sounds of another sibling entering the area. The light sounds of the footsteps told him it was Alice before he even caught her scent, but he could see that the new presence had alarmed Jayden. "It is alright, it's just my other sister Alice...she may help but you both at ease" Edward said, knowing Alice would be friendly with the girl and thinking maybe if Rosalie saw that Alice had no visions of danger involving the hybrid that she might warm up to her.

Rosalie was not impressed by the girls growing temper, and continued glaring as her tone became icier and less patient. She was still not comfortable in this situation. Something wasn't quite right and everyone was overlooking it, including herself. She started to ignore Edward's consolatory words to her, persuading her to stand down, but her face arranged in a different type of discomfort. Of course Carlisle had once been of the Volturi, but he was different. It didn't seem right when Carslisle, who was so kind and good, was cast under their light.
Her eyes flickered as they all sensed Alice's arrival. She wasn't sure whether to continue defending her doubts or feel relief at her arrival. One the one hand, Alice was a much friendlier woman who would, no doubt, try to hear out everything before making any rash judgments. But her own extra ability was usually a comfort to them all, allowing them some sort of boundary between then and anything unfortunate that might happen. If anything, Alice would be able to tell them if the girl had anything planned. She ignored both Jayden and Edward and looked at the doorway where Alice was expected to enter.

As she approached the door, stopping confused, the frequency that she used to see had become even more blurry and there was sense of panic rising, what was happening with her? Was she sick? But she hadn't been sick since she'd become a vampire. Walking through the door to see her family and an unknown girl standing with them was something a little more than strange. Not many people, or vampires, had stepped through their doors but something about this girl was off and so was her scent. Instead of having her usual smile, Alice face was a little puckered from rubbing her temples, "I think I'm broken..." she muttered, staying where she'd stopped walking which was a couple feet from the door. "What is going on here?" As she looked at the girl, she'd tried to see her, but the visions were blank and this disturbed Alice.
Never in all her life, that she remembered, had she had nothing appear before her as she searched someones future. Looking towards the girl she hadn't known what to say but stare, it was rude, but why hadn't she been able to see anything? Humans were a little blurry and vampires were more clear but this girl had disappeared between the to. Was she a ghost?
