{...two years pre Twilight....tag all Cullens}
Having long since finished getting ready Emmett was now he slumped in front of the TV watching the round up of the weekends sporting events most of which he’d watched live. Listening to the rest of the house Emmett knew the others were getting ready; the familiar noises of the family made him smile though the day ahead bored him. School, again. Not college or grad school, but High school. Emmett didn’t think going to high school, repeatedly, would be so bad if they could take part in sports. He liked the idea of play football, lacrosse, and baseball. And the idea of Rosalie in a cheerleader’s uniform certainly made him smile a little more.
Been back in Forks was nice, the town was small and their house far enough away that they didn’t have to worry about been spotted. Been a normal family always made things seem better. Coming back had mixed blessings, and Emmett wondered if the wolves would take offense to them attending school; He certainly too offense to it. Speaking up at the idea of more high school calculus, history and English Emmett voice his opinion for the hundredth time since the idea had been suggested. “Are you sure we all have to go to High school, again?” he said knowing his family would hear wherever they were in the large house. “You know there’s always Washington State, they have a great athletics department. Or we could all get jobs?” He said. Having not thought the latter idea through Emmett wrinkled his nose. “Actually scratch that.” He laughed off the miss spoken thought work seemed even more boring.

Edward stood in front of the mirror in his room, looking at his clothes. He had just left dressing as someone in his 20's and now was going back to finding an outfit suitable for a freshman in high school. He never really changed his clothing style too drastically, but tried not to wear anything that would obviously stand out as someone more mature than the age he was trying to come across as. Especially until they had settled into the new town, or as it was now, came back to a familiar one. Edward liked this house of theirs. It was one of his favorites and he was glad to be back. He hoped to stay here for awhile. He had ended up just going with a plain colored t-shirt, thinking it a safe bet for any age. He realized he should have consulted with Alice.
As he came downstairs he saw Emmett in front of the TV complaining about high school. "Forks is nice, I dont want to have to leave in 2 years because you want to start off in college" Edward told him. "Wait a couple years you can still go to Washington State...or if you hate high school that much, you could always be a high school dropout this time around" Edward said with a smirk at the idea. He laughed as Emmett suggested getting jobs then quickly took it back, he heard a glimpse of the thoughts he was having about the boredom of work. "Newton's Olympic Outfitters might be hiring" he joked.

The light banter between her brothers was rather refeshing for the morning instead of listening to them bicker about something less interesting as sports. Yeah, she enjoyed a good ol'e american baseball game and occasionally she'd watch a bit of basketball with her family, though it wasn't something Alice enjoyed on her own time.
Looking into the mirror she tilted her head, staring at her reflection, a light application of clear lipgloss painted her lips and she'd put a bit of wax into her hair. Just a touch to spike her hair up in her signature do. Sometimes she had wished to have had long hair like Rosalie but Jasper had loved her short hair, and it was easier to manage without having to do anything to it really.
Leaning down she pulled on her skin-tight black boots, the latest impulse buy, over her black skinny jeans. They clung to her like a second skin and it was what she'd wanted. The top Alice had picked out was a gray cashmere sweater, it went slightly past her elbows, and a little oversized. It suited Alice today or her mood at least. To finish, she grabbed one of the many belts belts hanging in the closet she shared with Jasper, a studded belt caught her attention and it fit loosely on her tiny frame.
Jasper wouldn't be attending school with them today or for the next few days. The transition hadn't been easy for him and to be so close to the werewolf tribe hadn't sat well with him. Alice sighed, she'd also grabbed a small black jacket, trimmed with mink, to complete her first-day-back-to-school-look.
"You could always try to coach the football team though I doubt they'll be able to win the season. With those players I can see, without having to really see, that we won't be winning any games. Rather sad, they could have potential." Alice sat down beside Emmett, whom was watching sports again, "Whose driving today?"

Not only was it the younger looking Cullens’ first day at school, but it was also Carlisle’s first working day at Forks Hospital. He had been in the previous week, pretty much every day, arranging paperwork and investigating his working space, but still, today was the first day that he got to wear his ID badge and call himself an employee of the hospital. He smiled as he heard the tones of his ‘children’ filter in from downstairs. Sometimes the pretence could be trying in its repetitiveness, but keeping up appearances was sufficiently important to all of them for them all to pull together despite boredom.
For him, though, he never got bored. His profession as a doctor was a true vocation, a calling just as strong as those attributed to members of religious orders, and he still felt great pleasure and satisfaction at what he did. He pulled down the collar of his dark blue dress shirt and ran his fingers through his blonde hair before descending the stairs to join the family.
“Forks is a favourite of all of us… and plus, it’s much easier to bunk off school,” he added to Edward’s argument. His mouth turned into a light grin as he then listened to Edward and Alice’s suggestions for Emmett’s chosen line of work, knowing that the jokester of the family could take it. He held up his hands, raising his eyebrows. “Hey, no dropping out, I’m not having anybody saying I can’t raise you kids right.”

"True," Alice replied, "We'd have to deal with seeing Emmett scream at those human children and not only that but Rosalie and I be subjected to listening to football a lot more often than normal. Sorry brother," It was okay to watch the Super Bowl once a year but whenever sports came up it was always her cue to pick up and leave. Possibly go out hunting or shopping in Seattle for the weekend. "Imagine us, Edward, having to refer to Emmett as Sir or Coach at school. Might be a nice change but I'd rather not get into a fight with the ol'e bear over there. I doubt he'd be able to take this." She pointed to herself, a cheesy grin upon her face, "Though a student and teacher relationship doesn't sound to scandalous." Would Rosalie play the wife role and stay at home if that option had come to Emmett? Alice doubted it but only because she hadn't seen her brother go off to become Fork's new assistant coach.
"Carlisle I must say that your looking very dashy in your new white lab coat." The creases were still quite visible but eventually it would smooth out. One thing that bothered Alice was the smell of the hospital. The smell of death. Whatever it was it brought about phantom smells and she could remember the way it smelt before. Rotting living corpses.

School was something Rosalie had never bothered with in her previous life. Her vocation was to look beautiful, be charming and be obedient. After decades of existence, knowledge was the only thing that was able to keep up with a vampire's pace and need. She would never have thought that she'd learn how to build a car from scratch or any of the things she knew now. At this point, she would rather stay in their home and continue learning new things, but she also knew the importance of the way they portrayed themselves in public, especially for Carlisle who would be well recognized. Forks happened to be one of their favorite places in the work, as strange as it sounded, and Rosalie didn't mind as mush as she usually did. What she did enjoy sometimes, she had to admit, was watching the teenagers in their school contemplate their family as they walked into class for the first. The awe never really went away, they seemed struck with the Cullens and Hales every single day they attended, but they seemed to get a little better as time passed by since they never made a real effort to be friends.
Rosalie looked at herself in the mirror for the last time, adjusting the simple golden chain around her neck. No one pulled of jeans, a cream turtleneck and flats like Rosalie did. She appreciated looking good like Alice did, but never went to any lengths to accomplish it. She just didn't have to. Stepping lightly and at human pace, Rose made her way down the stairs and sat next to her Emmett, while their siblings and father poked fun at him. She took his hand and took comfort that at least she could have Emmett there. Unfortunately Jasper would have a bit more adjusting to do before trying to attend Forks High, but she would try to keep her sister company.
Her head perked for a split second, wanting to volunteer as driver, but decided against it, knowing that her red BMW might not be the wisest entrance. They would already stand out against the others, they didn't have to make it that much more impressive. Blending in as much as possible was key. "Emmett will be fine at school," she said with finality to her voice. And as she said it, she knew it would be true. "And coaching is out of the question," she said, giving in to a bit of laughter.

Moving to a new location meant each member of their family would be taking on a different role. For the "kids" of their family it would be another repeat high school career and becoming a student once again. Carlisle would resume his usual line of work at the hospital. This time around Esme would take on the role of a housewife. She would stay home and take care of things around the house. This would also give her a chance to do some more antiquing and take on other renovating projects.
Standing in the bedroom she shared with her husband she placed a book on top of her dresser. She smoothed out her dark lavender shirt and brushed a strand of hair out of her face. Smiling she walked out of the room as she heard the rest of the family conversing downstairs.
"I'm with Carlisle, it would give us a bad name as parents," she agreed, with a chuckle, "And there is no way I am housing any high school drop outs here."
She descended the stairs and took a spot among the rest of them, glancing between each familiar face, inspecting their outfits with a mother's eye.
"You all look wonderful and well prepared for your first day at Forks High," she said with a large grin.

Still laughing at his own little joke Emmett almost missed Edward’s entrance to the room and his addition to Em’s own musings. He knew his younger brother would be going in as a to school a lower grade then him, so he could understand his desire not to move in a few years. Been a high school drop out sounded interesting, it was certainly a role he’d never played before. “You know that could be fun, lay around and watch TV all day.” Emmett chuckled to himself quickly as Alice breezed into the room.
His pixie little sister like his brother seemed to have picked up on the whole job suggestion he’s mentioned then quickly dropped. “Ok I was joking, I don’t want to work. I get bored enough doing home work and Newton’s would be even worst.” Emmett grimaced as he told then both it was out of the question. “Though I am liking the idea of coaching.” He said more to himself then either of his siblings.
Hearing their father come into the room Emmett quickly turned to him hoping to hear some encouragement towards college or even a job, anything better then reliving High school again. He didn’t get either, instead he looked to Ed as Carlisle sided with him. “Yea, yea side with Ed its ok.” He attempted to pout then laughed as his the father figured turned very fatherly as he weighted in on the drop out discussion. “But you know its never a part I’ve played, could be fun. I could help Esme around the house.” He offered with a playful smile as he though of all the things he could actually do with his time away from school.
As Rosalie breezed into the room Emmett’s spirits lifted even more then the banter was already doing. He gently squeezed her hand as she took him turning his head quickly to give her a dimpled grin as the family moved on to talk of driving and dress, the latter wasn’t really his subject. “Babe, I’d make a great coach I have that authority in my voice and I love all sports. Hell I might even give piano boy a go at track.” He said nodding to his brother unable to resist a poke at his musical skills while backing up their sister on his speed.
Other then Jasper, Esme was the last to enter with all the grace and love Emmett had come to know from their mother. “Ok ok, I’m not dropping out. Promise.” he said crossing his heart then resting his palm over it in a solemn gesture only punctuated by the grin on his face. Once again as the conversation turned to clothes Emmett looked back to the TV and the sports round up throwing a single comment into the mix. “whatever we wear they’ll still think were freaks.” he said without looking from the TV.

Freaks. It was just another name that humans would refer to them out of jealousy but the name never bothered Alice. It was something she relished and her own fashion sense stemmed from it. There was a reason she'd spiked her hair. During the late 70's early 80's she'd felt at home in the miniscule goth culture and had gone to see the Cure a couple of times. Jasper hadn't cared much for the music but would accompany her once or twice but due to violence within the crowd it had been to much. Her poor husband but she understood slightly with her own blood lust in check. "Drop-outs? I never would have thought any of us would become one but it would be interesting to see. I can see it now, "Dr. Cullen's eldest son drops out of the college to work at Newton's."-It would be rather a new lifestyle for our little cub."
Esme was her beloved mother, despite not being her birth mother, but Alice admired her none the less and it was always nice to collaborate on decorating each of their homes. Though the discussion about drop-outs hadn't sat well with Esme it amused the little brunette. It was something that would never happen but thinking about how it would affect their family was an idea. Emmett had to ruin it though with the freak comment. Sure, Alice was able to talk to people easily but it was something that only extended to people worthy enough to deal with. Most of the students wouldn't be able to comprehend them but there would be jealousy. Alice never worse the same clothing more than once. "Stylish Freaks. Edward, well...we need to get there but Edward and I won't be able to drive. We could always go about being dropped off by our parental units?" Alice flashed a bright smile towards her parents.

Edward smirked as he watched the after effects of his suggestion that Emmett try becoming a high school drop out this time around. Really it was funny to think that any of them could even be considered drop outs with the amount of times they had all graduated. But the idea of being a drop out would be something new, and it did fit in with the typical teen nowadays as less students graduated. He thought that Emmett looked like the one to fill that role of their family, looking like the jock (even if he was never able to actually join any teams). But Edward understood their parents worries of how it would look on their parenting skills. With none of them claiming to be biological children, their ability to care for teenagers may be questioned if they acted out too much. Edward would never bring that down on Carlisle and Esme, so he didnt press the subject.
"I like the idea of joining track and breaking every world record they have " Edward grinned jokingly, knowing it would never happen. "But there's no way I'm calling him Coach or Sir or Mr. Cullen" Edward shook his head.
Edward looked over at Alice as she mentioned how the two of them couldnt drive. One of the worst parts of being a freshman again, having to pretend you didnt know how to drive or have a license yet. "She's right, getting dropped off might be the easiest..."

"I'd rather gouge out my own eyes before I can visualize Emmett as one of our teachers are Forks high," Alice joked, "Imagine having to refer to him as Mr. Cullen!" Of course they would be able to get away from more than could already get away with but it would look awfully strange if a teacher was absent the same time as the Cullen family members. It was just easier for them to act like the children in this "unique" coven. Emmett already had a bigger head than any of them there. Rosalie balanced him out nicely with her own narcassim.
Alice hated that they weren't able to drive any of the vechiles they owned and not even Jasper would be able to drive. Even in town they wouldn't be able to drive and having to have been dropped off seemed so childish. With a heavy sigh she nodded in agreement after having the said the same statement as before. Would they have to use one of their escalades to chaperone them to school. Another thought crossed her mind, "It would look though that we'd have to keep our husbands under-wrap," when not being able to express her affections for her little lion, a thought she'd keep from Edward, it drove her nuts. Though, for Rosalie and Emmett it might prove a bit of a problem. The thought amused Alice to no end.

Looking up from the TV Emmett rolled his eyes and smirked at Edward’s modesty about his track talents. “And after the Italians get hold of little lightening over there, I’ll get a job training the Olympic teams and we’ll all be super rich and famous. Huh?” He said jokingly and laughing. “Ok maybe coach is out, but when I beat you at baseball you can just call me sir…or master.” He roared with laughter at his own jokes at his brothers expense. “As for you Alice, you can call me sir too.” He nodded.
Hearing how the younger Cullen’s would be getting to school Emmett laughed again. “That’s right Freshman have mom and dad drive you. Looks like that Volvo will be hiding in the garage a few years, maybe Rose can keep it in check for you Ed.” He said looking from his wife to his brother and laughing. “While you ride I’ll be driving my jeep enjoying the freedom, speed and maturity.” He said enjoying that fact the ‘younger’ Cullens couldn’t drive for a while.

"I can tone down my running to just a little above the fastest human, I'll always win by just a hair, to keep them guessing..but not guessing the wrong things" Edward said, knowing they did have to be careful about not making themselves stand out too much. He'd never really get to run track anywhere, but the fantasies of a normal life were nice. "But there's no way I'm ever calling you anything like that, besides, you can hit the ball as hard as you want, but at the end of the day the outs come when I run to catch it, or throw it in in time to make the game" Edward said not giving in to Emmett, even if his brother was the more athletic of the siblings.
Edward gave a half smirk as he listened to Emmett teasing them about needing to get mom and dad to drive them, letting him continue on with his little speech until it was done. "Oh Em? Did you forget you're only going to be a year ahead, last time I checked only Juniors and Seniors were old enough to drive here...at least not until the end of your sophomore year if you're lucky...so looks like my volvo's going to have some company in the garage" He said giving a light chuckle of his own, enjoying that Emmett would have to suffer as much as him.

So far it looked as if they were all going to be dropped off and that made it seem even more hiliarious than the it really was. No flashy cars this year. It would be okay because by next year they'd be able to ride seperately. Alice frowned, there hadn't been a car that she'd wanted to get right away but she'd shared her love of speed with Edward. "We could always walk to school but in this rain it would make Rose and I's hair flat. Edward on the other hand you'd need a downpour to get that pompadour down..." Alice laughed, joining in on some laughter and teasing, most of the time it was Edward that Emmett teased and she'd take on Edward's side but this time it was the other way around. "I'm fine with whatever transportation we take but mini-van has to be out of the question though I must say that I can't wait until we're actually able to attend."
This would be Alice and Jasper's first time attending Forks High School. Their last visit to Forks hadn't really been to exciting but to be able to get under the skin of her fellow "students" was always a good laugh. Most of the other kids seemed stuck in their daily routines but not her. Alice did her own things when she wanted to or would disappear with Jasper at her side for a week or two and returned in more fashionable clothing than they'd left.

Carlisle smiled gratefully at Alice as she complimented him on his new lab coat, knowing that she meant it, despite all the awful connotations that hospitals had for her. He tried his best to leave all scent of the hospital there, changing his clothes and leaving his lab coat (when it wasn’t brand new) in his locker, but it lingered in places like his hair, even if he used the hospital shower.
He continued to listen to the (mostly) friendly banter going on between his children, chuckling good-naturedly as Rosalie put her two cents in, using her wife’s prerogative. The laughter continued and he smiled warmly as his wife descended the stairs and agreed with her point of view. As the laughter died down, the smile remained, his heart warmed by how his wife looked upon the others with a motherly eye, just as he did with a fatherly one. It was an odd arrangement, even in regards to their own kind, but there was no question that it definitely worked for them.
“I agree,” Carlisle put in, as Esme told the assembled ‘children’ that they looked good for their first day of school. Just so long as they didn’t decide to take Rose’s convertible on the first day everything should go well – they had enough practice. A small smile flicked at the corner of his mouth at Emmett’s blunt words. “But inconspicuous freaks.” He teased, adding to Alice’s qualification of being stylish.
His amber eyes travelled between the three chatting about a conglomeration of Edward running track, Emmett being a coach (again) and having to be dropped off at school. He didn’t mind doing that, but he also didn’t see a reason to stop the craic in its tracks by committing either way. He did nod when Edward pointed out to Emmett that he was also not old enough to drive.
“Well I can drop you in the Merc until Jasper joins you, then there may be call for a people carrier, unless one of you rides a bike,” he raised his eyebrows enquiringly. That wasn’t altogether out of the question, but he wasn’t too up to date with what modes of transport were acceptable for a teenager of the modern age.
