Open...Time Period: BD Renesmee waddled quickly into the fort Uncle Emmett had helped her build that morning. Mommy and Daddy had been ‘training’ and this was her first real few hours away from her mother, since she had been born of course. She wasn’t completely sure what they were training for, but she got the jist of it. Something bad was happening and they were trying to stop it, she could sense the weird feeling in the air surrounding them. She wished things weren’t this way.
Her Copper curls were neater today, made into two small braids on either side of her small plump face. Her cheeks were shaded a light pink with delight, and her lips were puckered into a fishy face, before she let out a small giggle and quickened her pace.
Uncle Emmett was fun, he played with her, and she loved his laugh. It was warm, like Jake. He was her friend, but he was different than everyone else. And, he had fur, soft fur. She wondered why he didn’t have to practice, like the others did. Usually they let her watch, which she liked, but today they let her play. She giggled as she hid beneath the array of sheets pulled tightly over the sofas and a few chairs from the kitchen table. The small stuffed wolf Jake gave her was held tightly in her chubby little fingers.
Garrett was fascinated by the hybrid child. The fact that her existence was even possible was extraordinary in and of itself, but her characteristics were even more. She had such an awareness for a child so young, it was astounding. Her gift was a remarkable one and had swayed anyone who had come into contact with her to be on her side. And the rate at which she was growing, it was unbelievable. If he hadn't witnessed it all with his own eyes he would have thought it was just a tall tale some vampire was trying to pull over on him and never would have given a second thought. But now that he knew her, he knew she was worth protecting. If their self-proclaimed rulers tried to harm her, then it was time for a revolution. The ruling party needed to be overthrown, and that was something that Garrett was an expert in.
But while others trained, Garrett took some time to get to know the young child a little better. He hadn't played with a child since his days as a human when his sister's kids would be around. That was so long ago he had practically forgotten those memories until Renesmee's mere presence reminded him of it. He saw her go hide in the fort (that he assumed one of the Cullens had put up for her to play in).
Garrett crouched down and lifted up the other side of the sheet and crawled into the fort. "This is a mighty fine Fort, I wonder if anyone's here..." He said softly, though he had clearly seen the child enter.

Jacob trotted into Nessie's play room where he heard the largest of the Cullen's had built her a fort. Preferring to stay in his wolfish form for the time being, as the young half-vampire enjoyed riding on his back, filling his ears with giggles and joyous laughter. He kept a pair of jean shorts tied to his back leg for when he decided to phase human and play with her. However in his jaws he had made off with a pair of Edwards designer shoes, his trot was not unlike that of a puppy. Even though the shoes stunk like vampire, the ends justified the means. Although he would tell Bella, but even as a vampire Bells could not resist his puppy eyes. Snickering to himself, he paused as he saw a unfamiliar vampire in the room going into the fort.. the fort was amazing.. He noted.. but his fur rose on his back and he growled a warning...
He was highly protective of the child, his imprint. She was as good as his own daughter, or his kid sister. However he would refrain from any drastic measures around her... Intimidation was the action of the moment. His low growl rumbled out of his thought again as he carried his chew toy over to the entrance of the fort and sat down outside.. If only this bloodsucker could read his mind.. Who the hell are you? He thought anyway.. throwing in as much aggression in his minds voice as he could muster.

Renesmee had heard someone coming, but she still looked surprised when she saw who it was. She hadn’t played with this person before, he had long hair like mommy and it looked pretty. She wanted to touch it, play with it like she often did when her mother held her. Instead, she touched her own hair and wondered if his felt like hers when it was out of the braids.
The little girl didn’t talk much yet, often preferring to show people what she wanted to say, or what she needed, wanted. She giggled quietly (or at least tried to) and hid in between the couch and the love seat that were set in an “L” shape. Squeezing in between them so as to see out. The chairs from the dining room were draped with all different sheets, making the fort seem more like a set of rooms than the usual big square fort. The largest ‘room’ however was in the center.
Nessie took a whiff of the air, there was a very distinctive familiar smell. One she had grown accustomed to, the smell of a forest just after the rain. The scent was clean and pure and only one person she knew could smell like that. She clapped her pudgy little palms together, forgetting almost immediately that she was ever hiding.
“Puppy!!!” She called out dragging the small stuffed wolf on the carpet as she tottered quickly to the opening of the fort. She paused and smiled taking the hand of her new friend with her, urging him toward the opening. Once she could see Jake and she got the full view of him with the shoe she laughed excitedly. Puppy Jake was soft and funny, and his scent in this form was always a little stronger to her. Like fresh rain, though she never told anyone that.
Still holding the ring finger of her new friend she rushed over to her Jake. She hugged his head sending warm thoughts to him and visions of the finger painting she’d done yesterday of her and him with mommy and daddy. In the painting Jacob was in wolf form and he looked like a large brown puddle, Nessie was on his back. Then she showed him the man from the fort, “fwend,” she said smiling.
Garrett could smell the presence of the wolf as soon as he got close to the room. It had been something he had to get used to (among other things while staying with the Cullens). Being so close to werewolves, or shapeshifters, or whatever they called themselves, was a strange experience. The fact that they were working together was even more strange to Garrett, and he especially didnt understand the attachment the one had towards the hybrid. Garrett was wary of that and wondered if it was a trick to destroy the half vampire child by gaining their trust. If he was sneaking in to do that now, Garrett would put a stop to it.
He heard the warning growl come from the animal and Garret's senses became even more heightened. His thoughts of playing fort jovially with the young girl were lessened as knew he needed to find out if the growl would precede an attack on either him or the girl. But as Nessie emerged from her hiding spot, the look on her face showed him she had no fear, whether from childhood innocence or trust he wasn't sure, but he let her take his finger and lead him out of the fort towards the wolf-like creature. He gave a simple nod as she called him a fwend. "Garrett"

Any aggression Jacob held onto at that moment evaporated when Nessie sent him the thoughts of her finger painting. Letting himself lay on the floor so that she could be closer to him, he eyed the man she held on to carefully. Her announcement of him being a “fwend” altered his course of action. Damnit… To many vampires running around here… He thought bitterly and noticed Edwards shoe laying before him still. Instead of his planned attack, he opted to chew on the repugnant smelling shoe once more.. The man said his name aloud... Garrett... Jake knew that name.. Bella mentioned him before…
Nodding his rather large head Jacob tried to signify he understood the man, but his attention was once more directed to the little girl next to him.. Licking her face, Jacob chuckled his barking laugh.

Renessmee tucked herself in a little closer to jake. She hugged him, and took a small step back. She took Garret’s finger back into her small hand, as she had dropped it if only for a few seconds to hug her Jake. She sat in indian style for a few moments, feet tucked under her plump little legs. She looked from Garrett to Jake, and back again. As the wolf couldn’t speak, she turned to Garrett with her small palm petting the huge wolfs snout. “Day-cup,” she told him with a friendly smile.
Nessie squealed as he licked her face, and fell backward giggling. She kicked her little feet up, exposing small white socks with lace on the edges. Nessie rolled over and got to her feet. She waddled rather quickly toward a large toy box, (it was a rather pretty toy box, but he toy box none the less.) She stood on one side of it and tried desperately to push it. It moved, just slowly.
With a focused expression on her face she continued, pushing the box toward them,if ever so slowly. Though Nessie was strong, she wasn't used to pushing something two times her size. The trunk was old, and heavy, but mostly just awkward to push. Not to mention she couldn't see over it.
Garrett watched the wolf carefully as he neared the young child. Garrett felt it was his responsibility to look after her with the animal around. He was a friend of the Cullens and at least closer in species to the half-vampire than the beast in front of him. He wouldn't let him turn on the girl and try to take her in the parents absence. Garrett looked down and saw the wolf chewing on one of the Cullen males shoes. "They're not going to be pleased with that, I thought you guys were house trained?" He said with a smirk but keeping his guard up. When the wolf nodded its large head after Garrett's introduction he at least knew the animal could comprehend him, and he seemed calm at the moment so Garrett tried to become more comfortable with the situation.
With Renesmee sitting on the ground, closer to where the wolf lay, Garrett decided to sit beside them, closer to their level. Nessie tried to introduce the wolf. "Day-cup?" Garrett repeated with a confused expression on his face, then remembered hearing the name Jacob before, that must be what the girl was trying to say. "Jacob? Is that who this is... Well, I guess its nice to meet you Jacob" He said politely, no reason to be rude and try to start a fight if there wasn't going to be one. Garrett made face however as the wolf licked the girls face, thinking it was strange for more than one reason. But Nessie seemed okay with it. He watched her go retrieve her toy chest. "Whatcha got there little lady?" He asked her with a smile, wondering what she was deciding to play with now"
