Taymos sighed, plopping down in front of the ocean. She recoiled slightly when she saw the waves come towards her, knowing the water would be frigid. She scooted back, frowning. "Ugh...I need something to do..." She muttered. She thought for a few moments, trying to think of an idea of what to do, then sighed in frustration, laying on the sand. She sat up abruptly, dusting the sand out of her hair. She sighed heavily, yawning slightly. "What to do, what to do..." She mused outloud. After a few long moments of thought, she grimaced at her lack of creativity in thought today. 'I wish someone was around.' She thought dully.
But, with her luck, it usually wasn't likely. She was about to lay down in the sand but thought better of it. "Ugh!" she groaned after 15 minutes, leaning her head against her knees. She had a headache. "I hate this! For no reason, everytime! I get a stupid headache and then...my gosh...I'm talking to myself!" She frowned deeply, massaging her temples.

Elan laughed to himself, choking on the freezing sea water as the wave he was riding broke unexpectedly and washed him off his board. He wasn’t the best surfer, even with the extra grace and poise that being a werewolf afforded him, but it was fun when no one was watching. Usually he spent his time here at First Beach with the reputable ‘bad ass’ element of La Push – not that it was a big or particularly bad element – but today had been slow for company. He knew that most of them had gone off to Port Angeles for some city fun, but he had his shift of patrolling in a few hours.
He grunted a little as he washed out to the shore and picked himself up, coughing a little with the sea water he had just swallowed. He had left his jeans and top in a messy pile a little way up and so, with a shake of his head, he jogged back up to the clothes and towel. On his way there, he noticed that a girl had set herself down a few feet away and seemed to be crouched uncomfortably on the stony beach and ... taking to herself?
“Hey,” he said, his voice quite throaty as his shadow fell over the girl. He smiled a little, realising that he didn’t know her from La Push, though he did recognise her vaguely. Maybe she was part of that new family. He smiled at her a little as he began to towel himself dry, ignorant of how chilly the air was. “I sense you’re new to these parts.”

Taymos looked up when she heard a voice. Not to mention the shadow of a person. She turned slightly towards the person and pursed her lips. A guy, drying himself off. Obviously he had gone swimming. When it was cold, though? 'Unusual...' Taymos thought, puzzled. "Umm...hi?" she said, half questioning why he was talking to her. She chuckled slightly when he said about him 'sensing' she was new here. "No, I've lived here all my life." she said sarcastically, looking back at the ocean.
Then she sighed. Sarcasm isn't always the best way to talk to someone you just met. "Anyways, I'm Taymos, Taymos Saphs. And I am new. And I have a headache. And I really hope you haven't been there for a few minutes." she said, stressing. Yes...someone hearing a person that was new talking to themself was not a good first impression. She bit her lower lip, thinking. In this place, she actually wanted to make friends instead of keep to herself. But...that might not happen if the guy had heard her talking to herself....

Jayla hummed to herself as she casually strolled onto the beach. So far her day had gone quite well, leaving her in high spirits. In her hand she held a gray garbage bag that hadn't been used. She was doing a favour for the Council of Elders, picking up rubbish so that the natives could host bonfires without having to worry about the state of the beach. There were always bonfires in La Push. Everyone liked to gather and hear the legends of their tribe with their families. It was a very social event. Jae giggled quietly to herself as she remembered her last bonfire. All the food had been eaten before anyone had arrived.
'It's not like we eat that much anyway...' she thought 'it's mostly those native boys... gosh they eat WAY too much!'
Shaking her head, she jumped down from the parking lot and onto the sandy expanse of beach. She kicked of her shoes and started walking down towards the shore, surveying the surrounding area for any litter that may have been there. The area was clean, though. Jayla decided to have a quick paddle before she left. The sea always made her feel peaceful. 'How ironic, I hate being wet, but love the sea...' she thought.
As she stomped around like a toddler in a paddling pool, something caught her eye. Further up the beach sat a young girl. She looked to be around the same age as Jae and was... talking to herself? Jayla watched as the girl seemed to be having an inner conflict with herself, sitting awkward away from the water. 'Obviously new... we're used to the sea temperature here...' Jae thought.
She cocked her head to one side, both intrigued and wierded out by this girls behaviour. She shrugged and continued paddling.

Elan continued to force the rough towel over his shaggy hair, a vague half smile intruding on his otherwise blank expression as the new kid seemed to say her greeting with a questioning slant. A bit weird, but maybe she wasn’t used to how the beach kids generally were with each other. Granted, the rest of the group were away having fun off the rez, but that didn’t mean that he had to put his social life on hold just because he had extra responsibility. Plus he knew that he wouldn’t be missed by anyone in particular. He chuckled a little as a small barb of sarcasm emerged from the girl’s lips.
“Ooh, you got spunk – I like it,” he said, his voice holding a teasing challenge as his eyebrows perked upwards. He knew that he could be on the sarcastic and sulky side too, so he didn’t so much mind being the brunt of it. Most people tended to be on tenderhooks around him, so maybe meeting someone fresh would fix that right up. “Good to meet you, Taymos Saphs. I’m Elan … and if we’re going to do the whole formal thing, then you might want to put a ‘Rivers’ at the end of that.”
He flicked his hair back, raking his fingers through his hair though it didn’t stop some wet strands from flicking back over his eyes then began to pull a shirt on, though he was really warm enough without it, but for appearance’s sake he knew he had to. He quirked his mouth to the side, quelling the part of him that over exaggerated every ‘medical condition’ known to man, knowing that a headache was a headache despite the number of times he’d seen that proven wrong with his brother.
“Yeah,” he drawled, looking at her side on, eyes twinkling with mischief. “Quite a conversation you had going there, I didn’t even know if I was welcome to interrupt …” He smirked at her, then allowed his eyes to run off over the beach where he saw another girl from the rez. At least he recognised that one, though she wasn’t part of his usual crowd – she was probably a bit young. Without intending to he laughed as he saw the way that she stomped away in the shallows of the water; not that his surfing was up to much, but he could at least hold a decent wave.

Taymos rolled her eyes at the spunk remark. Then she pursed her lips when he mentioned about her being formal. She was slightly puzzled at his name, but not so much. Elan Rivers...she guessed it shouldn't surprise her much. She looked back at him. "I'm not trying to be formal." she said. "I'm just not used to being...new." she said, sighing heavily. "You wouldn't have that problem, considering you've probably lived here all your life." she said, frowning slightly.
She got up, brushing herself off. But she felt slight anger build up in her as he teased her about the talking thing. "You know, its not really that funny." she said, her voice defensive and cold. She was defensive often for a reason she didn't know. And she wanted to wipe the smirk off his face. She hated teasing and wouldn't take it. She crossed her arms, glaring at him. Being mad at someone, while her having a headache (which was heading towards a migraine) , was not a good thing for Taymos. It made it difficult for her to control her temper when she was like this.

Jae's soft giggles turned into happy screeches as the cold water splashed against her dress, deepening the darker colors. She stomped again and again, sending huge Burst's of salt water to spurt up wards, soaking her from head to toe. She scooped up a tiny handful of water and flung it into the air, not caring where it landed or if it soaked her anymore than she already was.
Eventually the screeches subsided as Jayla grew more and more tired. She waded her feet across the shallow shoreline and reveled in the feeling of content that spread across her body, relaxing her mind and muscles. She hadn't realized that she was walking with her eyes closed until her foot made contact with an strange object. Jayla cringed as she heard the thud of her foot make contact with the unknown object. Opening her eyes, Jae saw that it was a.. surfboard? "But... there's no one on the beach besides that.. new girl," She muttered to herself "Why would there be a surfboard here if she's sat over there?"
Her eyes roamed the full length of the beach, passed the parking lot and the rock pools, passed the diving cliffs, until they reached the strange girl. But she wasn't alone, there was someone stood in front of the girl. Some one very tall. Some one looking right at her. WAIT! LOOKING RIGHT AT HER?!?!
Jayla looked back at the boy that was looking at her. He was freakishly tall and holding a towel in his hand. 'Oh!' She thought clumsily. She could almost feel the little light bulbs lighting up in her head. 'He must have been the one surfing then! Could have moved his board.. but nevermind...'
Flexing her sore foot, Jae made her way slowly over to the rock pools, stretching her leg out to inspect for any damages. Everything looked fine, it was probably just a sting from the force of which her foot collided with the board. She shook her head dramatically, laughing at her stupidity.
But once again, she found herself pondering about the surfer. Obviously he was a native, she had seen him with Sam Uley and his 'gang' as people called them. What was their name... Protectors, or something? 'A tad cliche but, hey, it's a free rez.' she thought. They all looked alike with huge muscles to match. People suspected them of using steroids to build them up. But from what Jae had heard, they were all respected and cared for by the Council of Elders, and that was good enough for her.
Sighing, she picked up a stray shell and began twiddling it between her thumb and fore finger.

Elan shrugged as Taymos told him that she wasn’t trying to be formal. He wasn’t trying to pull her up on it, he was just trying to have some fun with her and that usually channelled itself into teasing, which he knew most people didn’t get when they didn’t know him well, but hell, he could hardly stop himself. The guy was riddled with defence mechanisms and he wasn’t eager to dissemble any of them even for new kids.
“You’ll be old before you know it,” he told her, amusement in his voice as he knew that in a few years being ‘old’ would hardly be something to enjoy. However, as he glanced down at her and saw the frown grace her youthful face, he couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for her – he was a decent guy really. It was true – he’d lived on the Reservation all his life with his parents and his brother, but he also knew that moving locations and having to start afresh was hardly the worst thing that could happen to someone. “We’re famed for our friendliness…”
As he was distracted from the girl that he was talking to by the one that was paddling inanely in the shallows of the sea he missed Taymos rise from her seat on the sand until her movement caught in his peripheral vision and he turned his attention back to her, his eyebrows rising and an infuriating cool, unbothered expression smoothing his features. He crossed his own arms across his chest and met her gaze, knowing that he shouldn’t be baiting her, but not strong enough to stop himself from provoking a reaction. He couldn’t help but feel that he was only trying to have a little fun with her, it wasn’t his fault if she went off the deep end about it.
Before he could say anything, however, he heard a low thud from not far away and he turned to see the paddling girl kicking his precious board. Annoyance turned to amusement, though, as he watched her notice his own stare. She looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights, which made him emit a husky sounding laugh. He turned back to the headachy girl stood by him and smiled a little, having already forgotten the tension between them. “Want to meet someone else?” he asked her. “You never know, you might make a friend!”
He stalked away from Taymos, leaving it to her to decide whether to come with him or not, knowing that he might have pushed her too far but also genuinely willing to help her meet more people her own age. He picked up his board on the way to the rock pools, checking it for any damage as he walked.
“And just what did my board ever do to you?” he asked Jayla with a smirk on his face – his standard greeting expression. He dug the board into the sand a few metres away and raised his eyebrows.

Taymos was still slightly angry about the teasing. It wasn't her fault she did talk to herself sometimes...its not like she talked to herself every second. She just sometimes had those 'moments'. And she hated being teased about. And, from his posture and from the look in his eyes, she could tell he was trying to provoke her. She pursed her lips. Then, at the all of the sudden nice invitation of meeting someone else, she was slightly relieved to be off the topic. She watched him start walking and didn't hesitate to follow. Tension and anger were not something she liked to be stuck on. She saw the girl he was heading towards and wasn't surprised at Elan's 'greeting'. She sighed, rubbing one of her arms nervously.
She chuckled quietly at the remark from Elan to the girl about what his board had done to her. She looked at the girl, feeling timid again as she had when she had met Elan.

Jayla's eyes narrowed as the steroids boy approached her. What could he possibly want? Her quick eyes didn't miss the timid girl walking behind him in his shadow. 'Her dress sense is a little...plain..' she thought. She laughed under her breath as the boy initiated the conversation. "That board-" she threw the object a deadly glare "happened to have caused my foot a serious injury, that may take quite a time to heal." she snapped.'Ok, so that's a bit of a lie.. but I may as well milk it while I can' "Who are you two anyway?" she added, looking at the timid girl.
She was rubbing her arms sub-consciously. Was she cold? Or nervous? Maybe both... Jae's eyes flamed. It wasn't as if she'd invited them over, they'd came and interrupted her rest and relaxation time. If anyone should be nervous, it should be Jae. Right? "Great, a bodybuilder and an anti social, this should be heaps of fun!" she whispered sarcastically, still studying the girl.
Her eyes softened a fraction, though not much. This girl reminded Jae of herself when she'd been forced to move in with her cousin. Alone, nervous, exceptionally quiet and a little intimidated... She felt a rush of respect for this quiet girl, she could see the girl's story in her eyes. They looked too old and wise for someone of her age. Standing up, Jayla danced passed the native boy -completely forgetting about her supposed 'ankle injury'- and came to a halt infront of the girl's face. Sticking out her hand cautiously, Jae offered a small smile. "Hey, my name's Jayla Thail, local fashionista,"

Taymos was slightly confused at the hostility from the girl as she mentioned the board. Taymos saw the girl's eyes flicker to her, looking her over. She felt like she was under a spotlight, with no where to hide. And what made her timidness even worse, when she saw the fury burning in the girl's eyes. She didn't know what it was from though. Had the girl not wanted her to come over here? Had she not wanted either Elan nor Taymos herself near? Taymos pondered, but didn't miss the words the girl muttered. She didn't feel hurt by the 'anti-social' part, knowing it was completely true by all standards. But her thoughts broke when she saw the softening of the girl's burning eyes. She also saw something like...recognition. Like this girl had seen someone like Taymos before. Their gaze met for a second, the girl searching her eyes for some weird reason. Recognition became even more pronounced now. Then, the girl came up to Taymos and halted, barely a foot and a half away. She put her hand out, caution in her movement and introduced herself. Jayla Thail...a pretty name. And it certainly fit her appearance.
Taymos put her hand out and grasped the girl's hand gently, shaking it. "Taymos Saphs. I just moved here recently. Um...nice to meet you." she said, letting a very slight smile on her lips appear. But then she dropped the girl's, Jayla's, hand. She bit her lip. "And, um, I heard your quiet comment. And its very true...I am anti-social. But the only reason I am is because of some things that have happened to me." she said softly, looking at the girl with slightly sad eyes.

Even before he had made it up to the girl that he hadn’t introduced himself to yet, Elan clocked the suspicious expression on her face and then suffered whiplash from her irritable comeback to his cheeky question. Jeez what was it with the girls around here today? Seemed to be full on case of communal PMS and if that was true then he did not want to be caught up in the middle of it. He raised an eyebrow at her overreaction, casting an eye down to her foot.
“Well I’m sure she didn’t mean to upset your precious foot,” he commented, referring to his board in a habitual feminine manner. He brushed a large hand down the surface of the board making sure that there was no dent – making sure that she hadn’t caused any damage to it and thereby hadn’t damaged herself either. “She seems fine, which means that you might end up sporting a tiny bruise for a little while, but I’m sure there’s no ‘serious injury’. Trust me – I know about these things.” He attempted a brief smile, but the automatically unfriendly behaviour had caught him off guard – she’d seemed so jolly in the shallows of the sea.
“You know we’re right here,” he staged whispered towards her, eyebrows knitted slightly above his eyes. “We can hear when you talk about us.” He wondered if the world had gone crazy in these last few minutes or was talking to yourself just socially acceptable now? He watched as Jayla got up, dodging deftly past him to introduce herself to Taymos – which he supposed made more sense, being that they seemed to be around the same age. Still, if that was a sore ankle then he was a cat person.
He turned as the two girls started to talk to each other, an eyebrow rising as he heard Taymos’ comment. Because of the stuff that had happened to her? He took that as a sign to make himself scarce – he really wasn’t in the business of hearing any more sob stories than he had to. He pulled his board up and looked out towards the sea, but it looked dead at the moment – the tide was wrong. Shame – that would have been the perfect get-out clause.

Jayla's mind was in over drive as Taymos told her about herself. She hadn't meant to hurt the poor girls feelings when she had called her an anti-social, she just... didn't think. She cleared her throat awkwardly and cast her mind around for a more casual topic. She certainly didn't want to get too caught up in Taymos' story. She couldn't afford the risk of letting someone unfamiliar in. "Well...I'm sorry.. about that..." Jayla murmured quietly.
She praised the lords when she saw steroids boy looking around for an escape. Was he uncomfortable with this Taymos' statement, too? Huh.. maybe he was halfway decent. "Well, bodybuilder, if you're done staring at the sea.." she drawled in an sickly sweet voice "maybe you could tell me.. why the hell are you so...so...so HUGE?!?!" Nearly half of the local boys walked around with bulging muscles, and Jayla was tired of trying to figure out what they did to keep in shape. She'd never seen them exercising or working out... and she trusted the council's opinion of them, so she knew drugs were out of the question. But, all the same it was bugging her.
Glaring up at him, she crossed her arms and held her head higher, trying -and failing- to look intimidating. She almost snorted when she compared her height to his. But, oh well, she didn't have much else to work with.

Taymos started giggling, all seriousness leaving her expression. This was rare for her. She covered her mouth with her hand, trying to muffle her laughs. "Sorry, sorry...its just kinda funny making people uncomfortable." She said, holding back another laugh. She was trying to be as nice as possible. But, when Taymos was childish, she kind of found it hard to pay attention to much besides being...well...childish. She bit her lower lip, not laughing.
She chuckled quietly at Jayla's question as to why Elan was so 'huge' though. She herself was slightly curious but not much. But she didn't like to push things if they are to be left alone. Like, bugging someone about something...not her thing. Just leaving them alone was the best thing, most of the time. For her. She knew, unlike others, that she didn't really need to be social to stay sane. But, then again, she has had years of being non-social...So she was used to it.
She sighed, knowing that she probably would end up being a third wheel now. She pursed her lips for a second. "I think I'm going to go..." She said slowly, backing up a bit. Then she bit her lip as she started walking away. She didn't really like the fact that she had made them awkward now, after the fact. She just wanted to try to fit in...and sometimes she just said the wrong thing.
She shook her head slightly. She knew she would never fit in. Which is why anti-socialism would be the best thing, and will be the best thing, for her.

Jayla's heart skipped a few beats as she watched Taymos walk off. What in the world was going on with that girl?!?! 'I was really starting to like her aswell...' she thought. Turning to Elan, she waved a pointy finger in his face "YOU!" she snarled viciously "you little groupie!! Because of you trying to make an quick get away, Taymos has left!!! I bet you're proud of yourself aren't you?!!!"
Jae didn't give him time to respond as she grabbed his hand and forcefully dragged him along (though it hurt her hand), running after Taymos. "Tay!!" she yelled "Tay, please don't leave! Elan said he's sorry!!" She continued shouting until she caught up with Taymos. Turning Tay so that she was facing the two of them, Jayla wiped a lone tear off of her cheek.
"Tay, why are you leaving? I thought that we were getting along pretty well, minus Elan ofcourse... But please don't leave, let's just hang out some more before I have to go back to my cousins house, Okay?" She elbowed Elan in the ribs, silently forcing him to contribute to the discussion. "I know! There's a bonfire on later this week, why don't we all meet up there??"
