ooc: Oh well. OH! FYI...I probably won't be on until Thursday at the latest.
Lexi stopped suddenly on the path that she was taking. "Oh is it?" She smirked, taking a step towards him again.
She slid her cell phone back into her pocket, crossing her arms across her chest. "Why should I leave? I mean...there's nothing bad here." She giggled slightly. "Except for these bears you keep talking about that I haven't even heard." She said in a teasing tone.
OOC: Man! I'm sorry it's so short....writer's block

OOC: I'll miss ya! And it's fine, same here about writer's block.
Paul covered his face and took a deep breath. "They're around..I don't want you getting..close to one.." he began to mumble. He wasn't sure how much he should stress the fact he wanted her to leave. He was making it worse by giving her curiosity.

OOC: I'm baaaAAAAaaack! "Oh, so they are around, huh?" She took a step away from him. "So..if I went this way, I'll see one?" She smiled at him teasingly. OOC: Ugh....still writer's block, I am so so so sorry

OOC: No problem! Congratz on your winning human OTM, by the way (: And Edward has a character (who is a wolf, but has not yet phased) who will be joining this thread, if you don't mind. Paul cringed as she moved in the direction that he did not want her going in. He knew she was just teasing but it was working and he was getting annoyed. "Uuh..no..j-just back up. I mean..this way. Not that.." , his words broke up as he spoke.

Connor had the day off from work, but he almost wished he hadn't. At least at work, the children would occupy his time and he could spend the day trying to keep them amused. Now that he had the time to himself, he ended up just wandering. He called up Paul, but wasn't surprised at all when he wasn't home. Something had been different with his friend lately, like he was pulling away. Paul had been hanging out more with Sam, Jared and Jacob. In fact, it was more than just spending time with some new guys, it seemed like he was always with them. Connor had even heard rumors among some of the younger kids that they were a gang or something.
Connor wondered if others had been able to convince Paul of what the older adults in the tribe already seemed to know from the time he was a teenager: that Connor was just going to end up a deadbeat like his father and it'd be better to sever ties with him now. Paul had always seemed to see past the way the others viewed him and knew he was nothing like his father, at least Connor thought he had, but he couldn't think of any other way to explain why he'd have so drastically pulled away.
Wandering through the woods, Connor headed deeper into the trees. He knew the area well enough so he wasn't afraid of getting lost. He just wanted to be alone. But that wish was short lived as he heard voices up ahead. Who else would be out here? He wondered to himself before getting closer and recognizing one of the voices clearly as his friend's. But he was with a girl? Connor smirked, wondering if that was the real reason Paul had been so busy lately, he was sneaking off with girls in the woods. He gave a light chuckle at the thought.
He was going to turn around and give his buddy some alone time with his lady friend but as he turned his foot stepped on a twig on the ground causing a loud snapping sound to be heard as it broke beneath him. He cringed and froze for a moment, knowing if Paul had been getting anywhere with the girl, he'd probably just ruined the moment.

OOC: Thanks! (: I didn't know that I was even up for it or anything. haha & congratulations to yourself for Werewolf OTM & of course that is fine, the more the merrier (: "Oh-ho, you don't want me going any further, huh?" She couldn't help but laugh and took a step away from him. "What are you so worried about?" She shook her head. SNAP!Lexi froze in her steps. "Wh-what was that?" Her eyes grew wide with fear. She walked back a little towards Paul and crossed her arms over her chest. "Well?" She looked at him, her eyes darting a little, fear in each breath. OOC: Sorry for the short post

OOC: Why thank you (: and thanks for joining us, Edward! Paul immediately looked up and grew tense. It's one of the guys. he thought. Somebody's about to give themselves away. Or it's a leech...crap! I can't phase with her standing right here. What am I going to do.. He was really nervous and you could see it in his eyes. He looked at Lexi unsure of what to say. He couldn't leave her there if it was something dangerous.
He finally came to his senses and realized his assumptions were ridiculous. He took a few steps forward and peered into the trees, recognizing the shape that stood there. It was Connor. Paul hadn't seen much of Connor since he changed. He felt terrible, but he couldn't do anything about that. He wanted, more than anything, to tell Connor and had always bugged Sam about giving him permission to just fill him in. He was going to join them eventually, anyway. Paul didn't see why he had to let his friendship drift while waiting for the change.
This was too much to take at once. He couldn't sit there and lie to two people about the "bears". Now he'd have to explain himself to Connor. Heck, he didn't even know for sure that Connor still wanted anything to do with him. He placed his hand firmly on his head as a headache tore through. He needed more time to think about what to say.
"C-connor?" , he called out. His voice was unsteady.

As Connor heard Paul call out his name, there was no doubt in his mind that he had been in fact caught. A few different scenarios ran through his head. Connor could try to make a run for it and pretend he was never there, leaving Paul and the girl to continue whatever they were doing. Or Connor could come out of the trees and face Paul, with the possibility of having just pissed him off by his interruption. Or he could try to tease his friend for whatever he was doing there. But with the way things had been lately, how distant his friend had seemed, Connor wasn't even sure he'd take light teasing the right way and wasn't sure he wanted to risk losing his friend for good. He didnt exactly have an abundance of them.
"Hey Paul..." Connor said, turning back around and walking out from the cover of the trees towards Paul and the girl. The girl had seemed a little nervous, maybe even scared, and he assumed it was from his sudden presence. Hearing strange sounds in the woods if you were unfamiliar with them could be unsettling. And she didnt look like a rez girl.
"I didn't know anyone else would be out here...didn't mean to interrupt anything here"

Paul wasn't even sure how he was feeling at that point. One part of him was absolutely thrilled to see his best friend again. He had been afraid that Connor hated him. That possibility was still existant, though at least he could find out, for sure, if it was true. The other part of him was terrified. He had no idea how to act. If Connor had, indeed, decided that Paul was no longer a friend to him, this wouldn't be good. If there was still a chance to save the friendship, he didn't want to ruin it by acting secretive.
The way Connor had looked at them when he came out had brought Paul to the immediate assumption that it looked like Lexi and himself were in some sort of relationship. Without embarrassing Lexi or Connor, he wasn't going to speak of the false assumption aloud. Instead, he smiled , ever so slightly, and answered, "Connor, this is Lexi. I just met her a little while ago. I was trying to help her find her way out." he said, hoping Lexi would settle for that as an explanation. He then turned to Lexi. "Lexi, this is Connor..my..best friend.". As he spoke the last two words, he was very quiet and had a tint of hope in his tone. He didn't know if that was still true, but it was his way of telling Connor that he wanted it to be true.

Lexi watched the two talk. She wasn't sure what was going on, but she head the other guy say something about him not meaning to interrupt anything. She head Paul introduce the two of them and she smiled at Connor.
"Hi, Connor. It's a pleasure to meet you." She offered him a sweet smile. "I didn't mean to get Paul here in any trouble. He was trying to get me to leave, but I was just so interested in the bears that he was talking about." She laughed slightly, shrugging.
She watched Paul and Connor carefully.

Paul was relieved when Lexi spoke, not really adding an unnecessary explanation. He hoped that Connor wasn't going to ask about that. The last thing he wanted was to have to lie even further to his best friend. He hated doing it already. Looking at Connor anxiously, he studied Connor's facial expression. His hopes were that he had not lost a friend.

Connor listened to Paul's explanation that he had just met the girl and was helping her find her way out. It made sense, though he supposed he could be trying to cover up what they were really doing there, but Connor didn't press the subject. "Nice to meet you too Lexi" He said to the girl with a nod.
Hearing Paul call him his best friend, Connor had to fight back the instinct to ask him if he was sure that wasn't Sam or Jared now. But instead he thought he sincerity and maybe a bit of an apology in the look he got from Paul. Maybe Connor had just been overreacting to the whole thing. But he still felt like there was more to it than his friend was saying, even if he still called him his best friend. He gave a slight sigh. "Paul's not in any trouble with me, he can do as he pleases." He said with a shrug, no matter what Paul had called him, he knew he didnt have much say in his friend's life anymore. He barely even knew what he was up to most times.
"Bears? Yeah, I've heard those rumors, but I've never seen one" Connor said, having always felt pretty safe out in the woods.

Paul sighed, getting the impression that Connor had moved on and accepted that Paul was not a friend to him. He was devastated, though he got comfort in the fact that Connor would soon join them and then he could explain everything. You'll see Wik..you'll see..I promise it'll become clear.. he thought to himself. He then snapped out of it, shaking his head. "I-I'm sure they're around." Paul said in reponse to the wolves being out. OOC:Sorry it's not much for you guys to work with.

Lexi looked at Connor. "You haven't seen the bears either?" She looked at Paul, placing a hand on her hip. "Are you sure there's bears out here?" She raised an eyebrow, waiting for a response.

Connor saw that Paul almost looked discouraged by his reaction. He wasn't sure what Paul had expected really. He may have called him his best friend, but he hadn't exactly been treating him like one lately. He didn't feel like he knew what his friend was doing these days. Connor hadn't been the one to pull away, so he wondered why Paul seemed sad now.
"I havent seen any bears and I'm not sure if they're even around here, let alone bothering anyone, probably just stories to keep people out of the forest..." Connor said giving Paul a look, wondering if this was just the hangout spot for him and his new friends that he didnt want anyone else around. "If you're so sure there's bears around, what made you come out this way?"
