Character Basics
Name: As a Vampire: Sterling though he was once known as Andrew Ward.
Nickname: None
Age: Depends obviously on when the thread is set, but he was born in 1790 and was turned when he was 28.
Appearance
Looks: Tall and perhaps overly skinny, not masculine by any means with full lips and long red hair and red eyes. He has always been a handsome man and, both when he was a human and once turned, cultivates his look carefully. He takes good care of his hair, towelling it dry when he washes it to keep it from fraying with the heat and is horribly insecure about the bad bags under his eyes and the paleness of his skin so indulges in concealer and bronzer and all means and manner of other carefully selected makeup.
Scars, tattoos, other marks: none
Portrayed by: Bartek Borowiec
Personality and Stats
Basic Personality: Sterling is a self confessed "scandalous and depraved specimen". He is selfish and egotistical man whose vanity led him to allow himself to be bitten. Unfortunately this turned out to be his biggest (and perhaps only) regret in life. He has an obsessional streak which, coupled with his hedonistic lifestyle, has lead to an excess of opulence, sex and drugs; on the other hand it has also lead him to try and perfect his craft something that, over the years, has led to him speaking solely in poetry rather than prose where acceptable.
Post change he has become quite cynical, something he only lets out in his poetry whilst spending the rest of his time living behind a mask of a cheery, if somewhat eccentric, facade. Though he can be charming he has an utter disregard for any rules that always and often gets him into trouble and perpetuates his need to move around, though he is not so smart as to check for the presence of other vampires before moving somewhere new, simply hoping for the best instead (something that may be an avoidance technique). His own arrogance means that he believes himself to be above learning anything about the rules or lifestyle surrounding being a vampire and he tries to distance himself from the reality of what he is and what he does as much as possible.
Species: Vampire
Abilities: None
Occupation: The eternal poet but, at occasional points in history, a thespian, a life model and a fraud.
Car: A cream 1920s Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, purchased when it was new to impress the woman he was obsessed with.
History:
Birthplace: Edinburgh, Scotland
Family: None that he cares to recall
Friends: The oft unwilling Nino.
History: Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he received an education at St Andrews where he picked up a keen interest in poetry and debate. A couple of years younger than the infamous Lord Byron, Sterling traveled as a young man to meet him in his home in Aberdeen where the two quickly became friends and he was able to bask in the glow of the other man's indulgent lifestyle. He began a life of dubious sexual exploits, drugs and poetry where his looks were as much as an asset as his talents and company and he was drawn to the sinful and salacious. As he neared age 29 he became horribly paranoid that he would loose his looks; so when one night a stranger with red eyes offered him immortal youth he was prompted to accept the offer without knowing what he was getting into.
After he was turned to his despair he found that he could no longer feel arousal (an effect that is probably more of a mental issue than anything physical, though he would swear the opposite). Unfit for the life he had received he distanced himself from his friends and took to aimless wondering trying to capture the heyday of the superfluous poet and getting into trouble along the way. During the 1920s he came across a young American vampire by the name of Nino living in New York and for the last few decades has stayed her almost constant companion (much to her disdain!) in an attempt to live vicariously through her, and her decadent jazz age life style. Although he stayed faithfully by her side it is unsure whether this is through infatuation or some actual measure of love. Now, without Nino around to constantly watch his back he finds himself drawn to ever more trouble. The one good thing, as far as he is concerned, about being a vampire is that he has seemingly all eternity to perfect his poetry. Now, whenever around people who know what he is, he will even find himself speaking in poetry rather than prose.
