{Twilight}
Gabriel Rydell, the coolest kid in school, just hanging out by his locker, thinking about whether to bother attending his next class or not. Or at least that was the part he was playing just then. What he was actually doing was rifling through his locker trying desperately to find To Kill A Mocking Bird, the set text for his English class and the despicable thing that had made him fail his senior year last year. Well, one of the despicable academic things that wanted to slight his future anyway. He did have a few minutes until he had to be sat in that classroom in front of Miss Uptight, but the further he got through his possessions in the locker, the more it looked like he'd simply forgotten it.
"Crap..." he muttered to himself, shoving his locker door closed with a firm clang. He winced as the rusty hinge gave a groan of displeasure, the old thing not enjoying being mistreated. He glanced up and down the corridor, which was fast thinning of students as they ducked into their own classrooms, trying to clap his eyes upon someone that he knew before taking it to end game and just cutting the class (way less hassle than showing up and getting in trouble for being totally unprepared).
And that's when he saw a girl that he was fairly sure was in his year, and if not his, then maybe the one below? He wasn't sure, but either way it was worth a try. He weaved his way around a small knot of jocks throwing a football around and swept his arm around the girl's shoulders, giving her a winning smile.
"Heeey, Alex, right?" he paused, frowning a little - that didn't sound right. Then he remembered and his face lit up again; he lifted a hand and pointed at her with a forefinger. "Lexi... Lexi, of course I knew that. So, Lexi, do you want to tell me you're gonna be my saviour today?"

Alexandria pulled up to the school parking lot and parked in her usual spot. She fixed her jean mini skirt and off the shoulder black top. She switched out of her sneakers, back over to her little black flats. She threw her sneakers into the backseat of her car and got out, shutting and locking the doors behind her. She hurried into the school.
She opened the school doors, pulling her sunglasses off of her face and setting them on top of her head. She hurried down the hallway, saying hi to a few friends here and there.
She turned the corner and went straight to her locker. She spun the dial, putting in her combonation. She threw open the locker door and grabbed her copy of To Kill A Mockingbird. She shut her locker door, hoping she didn't forget anything. She headed down the oh so crowded hallway and was trying to get to class on time. She ran a hand through her hair and gasped when some guy wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
She looked up to see Gabe and sighed. "Lexi....right." She listened to him for a little bit longer and cracked a smile at him. "Gabe, did you lose your copy of To Kill A Mockingbird and need mine?" She couldn't help but laugh a little. "I only have this one copy..."

Gabe knew the girl was called Lexi, of course he did. He'd realised his mistaken pretty much the second it was out of his mouth hadn't he? Yes, exactly. He didn't dwell on it, anyway - he had far too much confidence (sometimes known as arrogance) and was way too much of a people person to let it faze him. Besides, she'd so forgive him, who couldn't forgive a face like his? Or something like that... He laughed with her as she spoke, keeping his arm slung casually over her shoulders.
"Oh, no, no it's not lost..." he said, raising his eyebrows at her and looking a little helpless, as opposed to his usual easily confident expression. "But who could give detention to a pretty face like that?" he asked, letting her go and shrugging his shoulders so that the messenger back slung round him shifted into the hollow of his shoulders. A grin spread across his face, as even and bright as usual - it was important to have a pretty, damned awesome show face when you were the next big Broadway star in the making. "I mean, I know, this face and all - should be pretty hard to punish, but I think Miss Foley's gotten used to it... So... how about it? I swear, I'll like... laminate it or something - you know, keep it safe and all that junk?"
He tilted his head, shifting his expression into a pleading look. He really couldn't be bothered having to weasel his way out of detention that day. He had work at one of the clubs in Port Angeles that night and he was woefully under-rehearsed on the new addition to his set, so he sort of wanted time after school to hit up the choir room to belt it out some before committing himself in front of his audience.

Lexi turned to face him when he let go of his shoulders. "I don't care if the book gets messed up..." She opened it, to show all the notes she had written through out it and such. "But why should I let you borrow it?" She raised an eyebrow at him.
She watched as he titled his head to the side with a pleading look. She couldn't help but let out a little giggle. She gasped, biting her lower lip and covered her mouth. "Sorry..." She muttered through her hand. She sighed, letting her hand fall to her side. She wanted to be nice and let him borrow it, but she didn't want him to think that he could walk all over her.
This kid was a second year senior and it was her first year as a senior. She didn't want it to start off on the wrong foot or anything...She looked at him, playing with the ring on her right hand. "Well..."

Gabe raised an eyebrow, smirking a little as Lexi told him that she didn't care if the book got damaged. Fair enough, then she just didn't want to lend it to him. Well, he guessed that was sort of to be expected if they had class together and all, but that didn't mean he would give up just yet... He opened his mouth, tilting his head and nodded with some consideration of her question.
"Well, that's an excellent question, and one that should be answered forthrightly - and all that... And whilst I could, you know, pretend that it's really for your own good to lend me the book, I'm not going to do that to you," he babbled, glancing sidelong at her as he went humorously too far into the flattery thing. "Because you deserve more than that. But no, really, I don't have time for detention today - need to do me some vocal practice for tonight." He raised his eyebrow, mouth stretching into a half-smile - people were often impressed that he was a professional singer... even if it was just in crummy bars at the moment.
He nudged her lightly, wrinkling his brow and pouting a little. "Pretty please?" he tried, before shrugging and changing tact from flattery, to pleading, to bribery. "I could probably score you some tickets to the club tonight..." His eyes ran down her body - technically she'd have to look 21, but so long as she didn't look 12 and he gave the bouncer her name she'd be fine.

Lexi looked at him and couldn't help but smile when he began to flatter her. It wasn't every day that someone gave her a compliment. She ran a hand through her hair and bit her lower lip, thinking. "Well..."
She listened to him as he went on and on about how he needed to practice tonight. She nodded as if in understanding and sighed. "I'm just worried that you're just going to use me to pass classes..." Technically, it would be the first time for her, but she had heard that he had used people before like that. It wasn't that she didn't trust him, it was....she couldn't explain it.
She stopped in her steps quickly when he mentioned the club. "Wait, is this the same club that you perform at that nobody from school is allowed in..?" She chewed on the inside of her lower lip, seriously contemplating taking him up on his offer.

A tiny flick of a smile curled at one side of Gabe's mouth as Lexi uttered another 'well', sounding for all the world that she was caving to his onslaught. He raised his arm once again, wrapping it around her shoulders and yanking her in his direction to provide a little encouragement to her thought processes. He pouted his lips a bit at her worry, wrinkling his brow and shaking his head. "As if I would do that to you," he commented, voice smooth and low, sounding a little hurt. He squished her shoulders before letting her go again.
"I know my reputation precedes me sometimes, and maybe last year I made some mistakes, but I like to think I've grown a bit... honestly, I'm not the kind of person to just use you for the one class..." It was a very well-rehearsed lie. He was totally the kind of person to take advantage to further himself, though he did tend to treat women with more respect than dudes. It generally tended to be that he got on with girls better too, for whatever reason. He liked to think that other guys were intimidated by his innate charm.
Blue eyes widening a fraction as she fell behind him, he turned on his heel to face her when she stopped. He raised his eyebrows questioningly, trying to figure out exactly what he'd done - he thought he'd put his foot in it. He grinned, laughing a little as she voice her question. "Oh yeah, only club Port A has to offer - it's a pretty good place to hang, you know, when I'm not on the stage - perk of being a staffer or whatever. So... what do you say? Feel like seeing what all the fuss is about?"

Lexi watched Gabe as he said he would never do that to her. A little part of her still didn't believe him a hundred percent, but hey- it was worth a shot. She grimmaced a little as he squeezed her shoulders a little too hard before letting her go.
Lexi stopped in her tracks and looked at him, her lips pursed together as he told her that he wouldn't use her for the one class. "Sooo...you'll use me for other classes too, huh?" She raised an eyebrow at him.
She listened to him talking about the club, her gaze dropping to the floor. She thought about it for a moment and looked back up at him. "Sure."
She handed him the book and just as he was about to grab it, pulled it back towards her, out of his reach. "How do I know you'll still talk to me or whatever?"
