Taymos sighed, frowning slightly when she came back to the one place she'd been a lot lately: the beach. Personally, she wasn't too fond of the place. But where else to go? If she went in the forest, that was bound to have it's concequences since she wasn't the best person for navigation. Her frown only deepened as she couldn't find any other place in mind to go other than the beach. In her mind, it was almost like she was exiled. She either went to one place or another with no choices in between...well, actually she was just too chicken to go anywhere else. But she was never going to outwardly admit that.
A sigh sounded from her and she picked up a rock, weighing it in her hand. Then, getting frustrated with her situation, she threw it out to the ocean. Taymos didn't look to see where it went. She groaned in irritation, plopping down on the sand and huffing a bit. She couldn't-well, wouldn't go up to Forks because she didn't know her way around and she didn't know anyone there. She wouldn't go into the forest because she was more likely to get lost than ever finding her way back to the road. And well...home was just too boring. "Why can't there be a person here like there was last time." She muttered, looking around at her surroundings. Right now, having Elan or Jayla would have been a good thing. But, right now, Taymos wasn't having very good luck because at the moment, she saw no one. Her eyes went back to the dark water, and they dulled a bit - the hopeful light disappearing.

It was never particularly warm out, but ever since becoming a wolf, Cole hadn't experienced any problems with getting a chill. He had gone to the beach in hopes of getting a little tan. He was already one of the paler of his pack brothers, due both to the genetics of his fair skinned mother as well as a lifetime of staying almost exclusively indoors while he was sick and getting treatment. Now, he didnt really care what the weather was, he wanted to make up for lost time and spend some time outside, maybe even socialize a bit if anyone was around.
He had been laying on a towel in the sand soaking up whatever rays of sun were out when he heard a splash of the rock hitting the ocean water. He propped himself up onto his hands as he opened up his eyes and looked over around the rocks and pieces of driftwood lying between him and the girl who had just thrown the rock.
"Oh! Hi, sorry, I didn't hear anyone else come over"

Though Taymos was certainly surprised, putting it mildly, when someone spoke. She hadn't been expecting it, and had been letting her supposed bad luck of not finding anyone take her. She jumped a bit at the sound of the voice, and then blinked a bit. Then she looked to where she heard it. "I didn't know anyone else was over here either." She said, giving a small embarrassed laugh. Then she gave a small sheepish smile. Then thought for a moment and actually realized what he was trying to do after studying him for a short moment. Taymos blinked, a bit surprised. Then she looked at him, a bit of disbelief in her eyes. "Are you trying to tan?" she asked, disbelief clear in her voice. That seemed impossible to her, considering the lack of light here.
She shook her head, and raised an eyebrow at him. Then she pursed her lips before looking away from him, a bit puzzled. But she found that she had an odd bit of joy in her. And the reason was easy to recognize; there was an actual person here. She wasn't exiled on the beach, like she usually was. Odd how small changes made a difference to her. Taymos then looked back at him, and thought for a moment, deliberating. Then she just decided to go ahead and introduce herself. "I'm Taymos Saphs." She said, blowing a sigh. Her eyes studied him for a moment, and there was a difference from Elan and Jayla that was almost immediate with him. He was paler, but still clearly from around here. Curiosity filled her from the small observation but she restrained it.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" Cole said with a sheepish smile. He probably shouldnt have just started talking out of no where, maybe making a sound to let her know someone was there would have been a better first move. But really he was a bit socially inept at times, having not gone to the regular school on the rez like Elan had. He looked down a bit embarrassed as she asked if he was trying to tan. "Yeah, I think trying is the key word there...I dont think I'm going to have much luck though " He said letting out a laugh, knowing with the weather here it probably wouldnt do him much good at all. "So what are you doing here? Since you already realized its not tanning weather" He joked.
As she introduced herself Cole jumped up from the towel, realizing that should have been the first thing he had thought of. "Oh right!" He said crossing the short distance between them to reach where she was and extend his hand properly. "I'm Cole Rivers" He told her, thinking over her name for a moment, thinking it sounded familiar but pretty sure he had never met her.

Taymos shrugged, shaking her head. "I wasn't scared..." She muttered, a bit embarrassed as a blush colored her cheeks. She looked down for a moment, waiting for the blush to fade away. She was hoping he hadn't seen that. But, her hopes probably wouldn't help anything. He probably had anyway. Taymos looked back up at him and gave a small laugh. "I doubt it. As far as I know, sunshine is a hard thing to find. Here especially." She said, glowering up at the sky. Then she sighed for a moment. She shrugged, a small smile on her lips. "Well, considering I don't want to be home, will probably get lost in the forest, and Forks might phase me, so this was the only place to resort to." She said, her nose scrunching for a moment to show her annoyance with the facts.
She put her hand out and grasped his own lightly and shook it once before dropping her hand. His hand was really...warm. But there was something else that caught her interest, so she didn't linger. "Cole Rivers?" She repeated, and her mind searched to where she'd heard the last name Rivers before...Then it hit her. Elan Rivers. Whom of which she'd been thinking of only minutes before..."Just out of curiosity, are you related to Elan Rivers?" Taymos asked, curiosity showing strong in her eyes as she looked at him.

"Yeah...guess I'm outta luck in the sunshine department" Cole said with a light shrug. It still felt good to be outside and get some fresh air. It wasn't something he tired of, and whether it was cold or not, he no longer felt it so could enjoy even snowy days outside. A definite perk to the higher body temperature. He gave a light laugh as she mentioned getting lost in the forest and not going home or to Forks. "Well I guess this is as good a spot as any..as long as you werent hoping to tan today either"
Cole nodded as she repeated his name and saw the confused look on her face. He wondered if his name sounded familiar to her too, but he was sure he hadn't met her before. He wasn't sure when he would have. She then mentioned Elan and it clicked, his brother must know her and have mentioned her name before to him which is why it rang a bell. "Yeah, Elan's my baby brother" Cole said with a grin. "You two know each other?"

She rolled her eyes. "Naturally." She said. Then she shrugged. "Ya, I've met him. He was the first person I actually met here in La Push...well...in the state of Washington actually..." She said, grimacing. Then she thought for a moment. "Huh, thats sad." She muttered, shaking her head. Then Taymos looked up at him, a small frown on her lips. "I only know 3 people here. Pathetic, huh?" She asked, pouting a bit to herself before sighing.

Cole gave a light chuckle as she rolled her eyes. He didn't mind if she thought his initial reason for being out here was stupid...he knew she was probably right. But he was the type of person willing to join in making fun of himself for things like that.
"Really? Wow, so are you pretty new to Washington then? Just move here?" Cole asked as she mentioned his brother being the first person in the whole state that she actually meant. He figured she'd have to have just moved here (or be here on vacation) or else she'd surely know more people by now. He could see the sad look on her face as she mentioned only knowing 3 people and thinking it was pathetic.
"No, I dont think that's pathetic. There's a lot of people who might know lots of people, but that doesnt mean they're good connections or that they're worth knowing....until fairly recently, other than my brother and a couple people who lived close by...I rarely talked to anyone. I didnt have lots of friends or anything."

Taymos sighed. Then laughed a bit. "Yes, really. I've only lived her for...about a week maybe? Somewhere around there, I think...But then again, I never really keep track of time..." She said, frowning a bit. Then she looked back at him and blushed a bit. "Sorry, I'm rambling, aren't I?" She said, embarrassed. Her eyes watched him for a moment, then she pursed her lips. A deep frown graced her lips. Then she grimaced. "You aren't the only one. I had lived in my old town for...all of my life. Guess how many friends I had? Only 4. So...I don't think you should feel alone in the nonsocial factor of being alone most of the time." She said, offering a small smile.

"A week?" Cole repeated before giving a laugh and shaking his head. The way she had been talking he would have thought that it had been months, or even years but a week and she thought she was pathetic. "You've only been here a week and you think its bad you havent met many people? That's pretty good I think. I've lived here my whole live and it took me most of that time before I met more people than those in my family and a couple who would stop by for visits. Didn't help compensate for my lameness factor that I was home-schooled, so anyone who did see me kinda looked at me weird"
"I think four friends is good. I mean really, those people with dozens, they're not really good relationships anyway. I'd rather have a few close friends than lots of fake ones" He then gave a smile as she said he shouldnt feel alone in the nonsocial factor. "Thanks...it is nice to know I'm not the only one"

Taymos sighed and shook her head. "The problem with that, thats probably the most I'll ever have. So...see what I mean? Because honestly...I'd rather not meet all of them so soon...its not very good to do that...easier to lose them..." She said, partly talking to him, and partly talking to herself. She didn't find knowing that many people already a good thing. And yet, she still found the small number of people she knew already pathetic. If she was a regular person, she probably would've already known more than she does currently. She pursed her lips and raised an eyebrow. "Where I used to live, regardless if people saw me every single day, they always looked at me weird. And I still have no idea why they did!" She said, exasperated.
Her eyebrow raised at him. "I'd known my old friends all my life and still, I didn't have a good relationship with any of them. That, my friend, is what I call pathetic." Taymos said, grimacing for a moment before a small smile came to her lips as she looked at him. "You're welcome. It's nice to know I'm not the only one as well. When you're alone a lot and isolated, it kinda seems like you're the only one who has that kind of lifestyle, doesn't it?" She said, elbowing him lightly as she smiled. Then she sighed. She then grabbed a rock, weighed it in her hand while studying it, then tossed it out over the water. "Weird how things play out, huh?" She murmured, loud enough that he could hear.

"I haven't seen one reason yet why anyone would look at you weird...unless its just that you're being too hard on yourself about not knowing that many people yet in a new place you just moved to. Give yourself some more time, the people worth your time will find you" Cole said trying to reassure her, wondering why anyone would look at her oddly. Cole on the other hand knew he'd forever be the odd one out. If she knew he wasnt even human, not fully anyway, she'd sure be looking at him strange. But even among the other wolves, and the other Quileutes, he always felt out of place.
Cole nodded as she mentioned how when you're alone and isolated it made you feel like you were the only one who lived that way. "Yeah it does...and it is weird that way" He agreed with her. "How come you felt like you were alone? I dont see why you wouldnt have had close friends"

She raised an eyebrow at him and scoffed. "I don't show my distress, Cole. That's one thing I've learned from my brother. Don't let people know anything is wrong unless you want to pretty much screw yourself over." Taymos said, giving a tight smile before letting it fade as she grimaced. "Then you obviously didn't get everything I said if you think waiting will help. I'm pretty much an anti-people person. People don't really like to be around me." She said, her grimace turning into a full frown. She sighed, pulling her knees to her chest and resting her head on them. Then she turned her head so she could look at him, and her chocolate brown eyes studied him for a moment. An odd smile came to her lips and she laughed lightly. "So far, you're the person I've gotten along with the best here." She said, sighing softly as she shook her head a bit.
Taymos scrunched her nose a bit, and then huffed slightly. "A lot of things are weird. It just is the most odd when you're the odd one out and it seems like thats all you'll ever be. And my logic seems confusing...but it's true." She said, and she looked at him in disbelief at his next words. "You don't?" She said, her voice flat and abrupt. Then she shook her head a bit again, raising it from her knees. "I felt like I was alone because I was. There was really no one there for me, not even my family. No one wanted to be my friend because of things said about me. 'Oh she's depressed and cuts herself.' 'Oh, Taymos Saphs is a big sissy and will bitch at you if you mention her family.' 'She is lame and won't listen to a word you say, she'll just complain.' Honestly, everyone just avoided me because of how some people said I had acted around them once. And plus, people could never have a good conversation with me because they'd talk about something annoying or just about themselves. People wouldn't give me the time of day because of things said about me. Everyone knew about my issues with my family. So, I just kept to myself unless someone tried to associate with me. They never cared at all and just...left if they even tried to get close." She said, a grim smile on her lips as she shook her head, closing her eyes.
"Kind of stupid and ignorant, if you ask me, to judge someone without even knowing them. All they knew was my name and my issues with my family. On the other hand, while they treated me like dirt, my brother was practically king. He didn't do anything to help me, so I fended for myself. Simple as that. And look where it got me." She said, opening her eyes and looking away from him. Taymos rested her chin on her knees and looked at the dark waters, silent.

"Well if you hate being around people so much, then it shouldnt bother you that you only have a couple friends" Cole said, thinking that it was probably more of a defensive strategy that was making her feel like she had to protect herself and not care what other people thought. Maybe it wasnt what others thought of her, but rather she didnt want to run the risk of their rejection. Cole did find himself smiling as she told him that she had gotten along best with him so far. "Even better than my brother? " He said, his smile turning into a smirk of accomplishment. Elan had always been the cool one, it was nice to have someone say they got along better with him than his younger brother.
"I dont think you seem that odd" Cole told her, then feeling surprised as Taymos described the way people talked about her, as cutting herself and depressed. He wondered if it was true, or if it was just the cruel rumors kids would start. Cole remembered trying to go to the beach once as a kid, one of the days he was feeling better, and having some kids run in the other direction saying he was contagious and they'd die if they were near him. It hurt to feel like an outsider, like a leper.
Cole was quiet as he let her go on to explain how people treated her, because of rumors or what they actually knew he wasnt quite sure. But he gave a moment for what she had said to sink in...for both of them. "That does sound ignorant" He spoke up finally agreeing with her. "You know...I know you barely know me, but if you want to talk about any of that stuff...I think I'm a pretty good listener." He offered before leaning forward a bit, concerned for her. "Are you hurting yourself?"

She gave a tight smile and nodded. "Yes, better than your brother. You're brother was a bit cocky, so...ya." She said, managing a small laugh. Taymos sighed, and muttered, "Well, I am odd. And not in a good way." Her voice was quiet, and she wasn't completely sure if he heard her. She honestly didn't care or thought that it mattered if he did or not. It didn't matter much whether he heard or not. Most of the time, she would care. But, since they weren't on the greatest topic in the world, she was mostly thinking of the issue in question.
"My point exactly." Taymos said, sighing softly as she finally looked at him again. "Trust me, its fine. I trust you so far more than my brother, who doesn't care." She said, giving a small smile before it turned into a grimace at his next words. "No, but I've considered it. Kind of stupid really for me to do that, and I even got close to actually hurting myself purposely...but no, I haven't actually hurt myself. Yet. I have to add the yet because there is still the possibility of it." She said, a reluctant, grim smile on her lips as she looked at him directly. The smile stayed there as she watched him, waiting for his reaction.
