Bram had returned to Forks on holiday, as the college campus would be closed for the next week and a half. It was the reason he loved christmas so much, even if his family only celebrated it for the sake of the christmas tree. His mother, growing up in a christian family was raised with the christmas holiday, even though she herself never claimed one particular religion. Bram believed in the words of his father, the traditions and beliefs of his native people, the Quileute’s. But Christmas had to be his favorite time of year, if not for the breaks from school, but the childhood memories it brought back.
He ran his fingers through his hair and stared up at the sliver of blue sky that was barely visible through the dense gray clouds. It was going to rain. Again. He only hoped that the weather would let up until after the beach party that just started. After all, the camp fires hadn’t even been lit yet. He got off the black motorcycle, the silver tribal symbols glistening in what was left of the fading sunlight. With his helmet already placed behind him, he got off and wandered aimlessly on the ivory sands of LaPush beach.
He waved and smiled to a few of his old class mates, before heading towards the water. Ever since he’d gotten home he’d been feeling weird, but he couldn’t place it. So Bram shrugged it off, after all feeling a little hotter than usual just meant his body was fighting something off, he was sure of it. The young man waved, and mouthed a hello to the girl that stood by the shore as well. Though he was sure it wasn’t because she was thinking of jumping in, which he normally wouldn’t have thought of either. But, it was pretty warm for Forks, even though almost everyone around him was wearing a jacket. His friends didn’t expect him back for a while, and he wasn’t planing on staying long as he wanted to stop in and see Cole before it got too late. He didn’t want to be rude to the Mr. and Mrs. Rivers.
"Is it okay if I join you?" he asked her with a smile. She was beautiful, and he could have sworn he'd seen her before. But, she didn't look like a Native, and she didn't appear to be with the part either.

Alaina stood by the shore, looking out at the water, with her back turned to the beach party that was forming behind her. Her arms were wrapped around herself lightly, feeling a little chill in the air, not sure if it was just their location or being so close to water that made it colder. It wasnt that she came out that night in a particularly sociable mood. It was just better than being home. By the time she'd get in that night her mom and Bob would be asleep so she wouldn't have to deal with them anymore. It was bad enough having her stepfather at the house while she was getting ready for the party, and seeing him in the bathroom mirror, standing in the hallway watching her putting on her makeup while she got ready. The guy really gave her the creeps.
She kicked off her shoes and let her feet sink into the sand, feeling it between her toes. She wished she had remembered to ask Dakota if she was going to coming today. Not that Aly wasn't sure that she could find several other people to talk to if she wanted that were involved in one or more aspec ts of her school life. She had already waved hi to a few people since getting there, but just hadn't joined the main group yet. The waves seemed more interesting at the moment.
Turning her head to the side she saw one of the guys heading over the shore too, away from the packs of kids debating how big to make the fire. He waved at her and mouthed a hello. She raised up her hand with a smile and mouthed a hi back to him. From his look, darkened complexion and hair, and muscular build, it seemed like he was probably from the reservation. They all seemed to be gorgeous here. The Quileutes must have really good genes.
She watched as he got closer, asking if he could join her, and giving her a smile that added to his looks. "Yes, please do" She smiled back at him. "I wouldnt want to keep anyone from enjoying the view" She said knowing if he was a native as she thought, he'd have more right to be here right now than she did, so who was she to tell anyone to go away. "I'm Alaina" She added, introducing herself.

“Thanks,” he said with a quick wink before turning his attention to the waves crashing upon the shore. The sound was calming, and made his heart beat calm a little. Though he noticed the feverish feeling was still there, even despite the cold breeze coming in off of the water. Strange that he didn’t feel very ill besides the odd energy that seemed to be humming in his veins and his temperature. His mother had tried to keep him from coming out, but he’d already left by the time she came back with a thermometer. Adult or not, he would always be his mothers baby.
“Bram,” he said tearing his vision from the sea to look at her. He wondered what she was doing all the way over here, and by herself but he didn’t feel he had the right to ask, as he was doing the same thing. She was a very pretty girl, and with the way the breeze came in and flung her hair it made her look like a model in one of those sports illustrated magazines, just with a lot more clothes on.
He couldn’t stop thinking that the girl looked familiar. “You live in Forks, right?” he asked. He was almost sure of it.

"You're welcome" Alaina gave a light smirk at his wink, already getting a quick image of what type of guy he was. Confident was at the top of her list of his traits, but so far he didn't seem obnoxious. After all he had asked if it was alright if he joined her and not just assumed that any woman would be or should be thrilled to have his company and assume he could just come up and act friendly. It was a bonus point already in her impression of him. She looked at him just a moment longer, noticing how tall he was too. Not abnormal in the freakish way, but none of the Quileute boys seemed to be shorties. She had looked back out to the waves, though wondered if she shouldn't as she felt a chill just watching the water, sure it was probably ice cold tonight.
Looking back at him as he said his name, she met his eyes. "Nice to meet you Bram" She said sincerely. She wondered why he wasn't with the other guys at the party. If he did live on the reservation, maybe he didnt come here for the bonfire at all.
She nodded as he asked (or presumed) she lived in Forks. "Yeah I do" She confirmed "You live here on the reservation, don't you?" She asked, at this point hoping he did and that he wasn't someone in one of her classes that she had completely ignored. She never wanted to be the person oblivious to those around her.

Bram gave her a nod and smiled pleasantly, “pleasure’s all mine.” He looked at the way her eyes sparkled in the quickly fading last strands of light that faded over the sea. He wasn’t really the romantic type, but he imagined meeting someone at sundown would fit the bill. She was beautiful, so since she looked familiar he was still completely sure he didn’t know her personally. Maybe he’d seen her around.
“I did at one point,” he told her. “But I’ve lived in Forks just about my whole life.” He told her, she didn’t really need to know why he came so often to the Rez. Yeah, this was his other home, his people, but mostly because the smell of the sea, and the trees lining it reminded him of his father. As if the crashing on the waves were the man’s very heartbeat.
“I graduated like two years ago from Forks High, probably why you look so familiar, huh?” he said as one eyebrow lifted. He laughed lightly, “so, what grade are you in? I’m not like on the edge of rocking anyone’s cradle am I?” he teased.

"It is" Alaina agreed with a light chuckle almost under her breath as he told her the pleasure was his. She wasn't full of herself or saying it in a conceited manner but knew at least it was half true. She had enough confidence to know that he should be lucky to talk to her, but perhaps she should as well, a possibility she hadn't yet dismissed. As they continued to talk, Alaina turned her body so she was facing him now instead of the sea, keeping it instead at her side.
"Oh, that's unusual isn't it? For Quileutes to move off the reservation to Forks? " She said hoping she didnt sound insulting or as if she was prying. It wasn't that she didnt think they could move, it was just that she thought they'd prefer their own land where their family was. She wasn't sure what Forks could offer them that they didnt have here. It was certainly prettier here. Given the choice she wasn't sure she'd pick Forks. "Sorry, you don't have to feel like you have to explain your life to me. I'm just not sure why anyone would leave here" She said with a smile looking out to the water again.
"Yeah, I probably saw you in the halls or outside" Alaina agreed nodding as he mentioned having gone to Forks High. She laughed as he asked if he was rocking the cradle then shook her head. "No, I'm 18, graduated last spring. Guess I lose the jailbait attraction then huh?"
