"Alright, here we go." Jacob was standing outside Edward and Bella's cottage talking to himself. Jacob was sure Edward could hear him anyway. Jacob was sure they already making fun of me. And to make the whole situation even worse Charlie was here also. But who the hell cared? This was it.
My first official date with Nessie. Like, our first date when she was old enough to date. Before this, it had all been outings and play dates or whatever. Now it was a date date. Boy-likes-girl-likes-boy kind of thing.
Before Jacob even lifted his hand to knock, the door swung in. Should of figured as much with the bloodsucker in there.
Jacob scowled, not sure how to handle the whole situation, it is weird that just 16 short years ago Jacob was in love with Bella.

Edward knew the dog was there before he even started talking to himself. He could smell him (a smell that had grown familiar over the years, as much as Edward disliked that fact) and hear the thoughts surrounding the shapeshifter. Edward knew Jacob had been around Nessie before, but this was different and he still hated it, that there was nothing he could do. It wasnt that he didnt want his daughter to be happy, really he did...and he even knew that Jacob would take care of her, he was a decent guy. But it was hard for any father to watch his daughter start dating, especially when he knew from Bella what types of thoughts Jacob was capable of.
Edward gave a sigh before opening up the door before Jacob even had the chance to knock on the door. "Come on in...she's still getting ready" Edward mumbled, moving off to the side of the door, trying to keep his protectiveness in check but knowing it was probably a lost cause since this was about his daughter. "You and I need to have a talk anyway before this all happens. Cause if you do anything to upset her..."
Renesmee had spent the entire day getting ready. She had taken a long bath in the morning; convinced that her impeccably soft skin just wasn’t soft enough. She had bought her first bottle of real salon shampoo to make sure her hair was as bright and shiny as it could possibly be. She had given herself a manicure and pedicure, and tried endless hairstyles before finally deciding to just wear it in loose waves around her shoulders.
Nessie had taken weeks to choose the perfect dress; eventually deciding on a forest green one that went perfectly with her bronze hair, and she was sure that Jacob would like it because it would remind him of the woods where he spent so much of his time while he was in wolf form; feeling completely free. The fitted top above the delicately flowing skirt was sure to make everyone who saw her in it realise that she really was all grown up now.
She couldn’t believe that this day was finally here. She had started having stronger feelings for Jacob a while ago, but her parents had insisted that she wait until she was chronologically old enough, and not just biologically old enough to date. Even Jacob himself had continued to treat her like a little sister, which had been extremely frustrating for Nessie. She could see now, though, that before she really had just had a little puppy-love crush on Jacob, while now it had definitely evolved into something more.
She was still applying her make-up when she heard the door open, though there hadn’t even been a knock. She rolled her eyes. Her father could always be trusted to ignore social conventions when it came to Jacob, and use his 'special abilities' to his every advantage. Her heart leapt though as it sunk in that Jacob was really here...to take her on a date. As she heard voices Nessie was tempted to hurry down to save Jacob from the inevitable interrogation her father was going to give him, but she knew that if she and Jacob were ever going to be accepted by her family she would have to let Edward do things his way. Instead she fought with her own trembling hand to finish applying her mascara and strained to hear what they were saying.

Of course Edward opened the door before I knocked, I immediatly looked around for Nessie, I could hardly stand the thought of having to talk to Edward let alone about his daughter and myself. I couldnt see her and Edward told me she was upstairs getting ready still. Edward said "If you do anything to upset her". I quickly rolled my eyes as he well knew that I would never upset Nessie. What did he think I was going to to her?
I couldnt wait to see her, I fidgited around and walked around the house looking like I may be busy, just hoping that Edward wouldnt want to talk to me any more, I didnt want anything to ruin this night.
I could smell the perfume that Nessie was wearing, I was trying very hard to watch my thoughts because I knew Edward would be reading them. I was getting more nervous, you see I have been waiting 16 years for this very moment, other than having to talk to Edward that is. Jacob walked into the kitchen and was hoping that Nessie came down soon, to save him from having to deal with Edward.

"Pay attention" Edward glared for a moment after seeing Jacob just roll his eyes as he started giving him the warning that Edward felt it was his duty as a father to give Jacob before letting his daughter go out on her first date. Jacob and Edward had gotten along better over the years while Nessie was growing up, and deep down Edward did know that Jacob wouldn't intentionally hurt her, he could understand through Jacob's own thoughts that it really wasn't possible that he could plan out to hurt Renesmee after imprinting on her, but that didnt mean the boy wasn't still the rash young man who had found ways to unintentionally hurt Bella while wooing her. Wolves as a whole didnt seem to show a whole lot of self-restraint in Edward's eyes, not like the Cullens who had to live their whole lives restraining from everything around them.
Edward took a deep breath and let out a sigh, more out of human habit than a necessary action for him. "Okay I get it...you think you'd never hurt her or upset her...but that doesnt mean you wont. She's my daughter, which means you dont just get to brush off what you're saying if you want to continue to have your open invitation to our house and access to her"
"Remember...if you try anything at all with her, I'll know..and believe me, she's not ready for it. She's just considering the idea that you two are more than friends, no matter what you're thinking, you can't push this on her. If she wants to keep you as a friend, you better respect that or you will have hell to pay from me, and her mother. With Bella years ago, she was free to make her own choices, and I'd back off if they didnt involve me in the end...but with Nessie, she's my daughter, so everything about her involves me. Don't make me regret letting you take her out." Edward took another pause, knowing in some way he should be grateful it was Jacob taking his daughter on her first date and not someone else who he didnt know better. "I know you're generally a decent guy...just please...take care of my little girl"
