(Timeframe: Early Twilight)
Brittany climbed out of her Bright blue pick-up truck. It was a hand-me-down, but good, neverless. Her Blue Jeans and bright green shirt seemed to fit her bright, cheery mood. She walked towrds the entrance of Forks High, nerviously looking around for a crowd to 'hang' with. A few kids walked past together, stareing everyone down as they went. She sighed. She just wanted to fit in somewhere. Anywhere, even if it was with those kids who actually seemed to like the oddly dreary weather they where having around Forks. She twirled the golden bangle sitting loosley on her wrist. This was going to be a long day.

Edward had been walking into school that day with his family like any other day when he smelled it. He was used to the scent of human blood, the temptation it held all the while he was at school. But what he smelled now wasn't temptation, but rather another one of his kind. He looked around, knowing it was a new scent, someone he hadn't met before. He felt a bit of pity towards his human classmates who had no idea how close they might be to danger. Yet, Alice hadn't warned them about trouble.
As Edward searched the group of students near the entrance he found that one of them was the new vampire scent. He broke off from the rest of his family to go find out if there would be a problem. "You're new here" Edward stated, not asked of her. "Maybe you dont know, but me and my family, we've established a residence here, we dont want any trouble that would cause us to have to move" He told her, hoping a friendly warning would be enough. Staking claim of their territory was sometimes all that was required when they met a stray vampire. Most of them would agree not to hunt in Forks.

Brittany looked up at the person standing beside her. 'He's another vampire...' she thought. She smilled. "Huh. You think I'd cause trouble? Understood, completely, but I just ask of you and your familey, a bit of....hunting territory." She paused. "If not, I understand. I'll find another place to hunt, easly."

Edward watched as she realized he was a vampire as well. He wondered if she had known about his family living here when she moved here. He listened to her request, she seemed reasonable enough. She seemed surprised by his mentioning of her causing trouble.
"We ask that you dont hunt within the town borders" Edward said diplomatically. He didnt really want to think of her hunting in a nearby city either, but they didnt have rights to the entire world. "We'd be glad to allow you to hunt on our grounds sometime.." He said giving a glance to the side to make sure no one was eavesdropping. None of the thoughts in the area were directed at him and the new girl. "But you may not like our tastes, we avoid..." He didnt want to say humans in school so just looked around at all of them to indicate them. "what is in abundance here."
He then put out his hand, a gesture he normally didnt do when meeting someone, but that was usually because they would notice his shockingly cold skin. "My name is Edward Cullen"

Brittany shook Edwards hand. "I'm Brittany Parham." She laughed. "I don't always hunt......as you said, what is in abundance here. I'm have a mix, more or less. And I fully agree to your terms, Edward." She frowned. Well....see you later. I can't be late for class, but if you please, I'll meet up with you later, ok?"

It wasn't until Brittany had stated that she didnt always hunt humans either that Edward noticed her eyes. They didnt have the same red around them that the nomadic vampires feasting on humans daily had. They were closer to the gold of his family. A little darker perhaps, having not been on this diet for long perhaps. He found in interesting.
"Thank you for agreeing, we can meet whenever its convenient for you" He told her, not feeling as tense around her anymore like he might have to fight her off of the students at a moments notice.

Brittany smiled. "Ok. Well, I better go. Can't be late!" She walked off towrds the door, now glad that she had a good start to her day.
(( sorry it was sooooo short))

Rose had been standing by the Volvo, watching Edward intently as he walked up to the vampire they had all caught scent of when they arrived at the school. The girl's body language didn't imply any immediate danger, so Edward had approached her alone. It was unusual for another vampire to attend school as they did, and Rosalie was already at her wits end, listening to their conversation from afar.
Thankfully, the conversation ended on friendly terms and the girl made her way to the school away from them. Rosalie allowed herself to get closer to Edward but remained inconspicuous by walking far behind him. What was that about? The uneasiness was apparent in her mental voice and she watched Edward for any indication that they were in danger.

Edward watched as the girl walked away, making sure nothing changed in her thought pattern before he turned to his sister, hearing her questioning thoughts.
"She's not actively thinking of doing anything...she's starting school here today" Edward said, still a little wary of the idea, even having gotten the reassurances from Brittany verbally and through her own thoughts. "I warned her about hunting here" he said his voice quick and low at the level human's couldnt hear. "She didn't seem to have a problem with my request, and when I told her of our feeding habits, she said she has a mix...her eyes don't have the look of a fresh human kill in them"

Pretending to be rummaging through her school bag, Rose compared her memory of the conversation she'd overheard and Edward's thoughts on it as he told her. She seemed harmless enough, they were just used to having vampires pass through their territory and quickly moving on. It was bizarre that an unknown vampire would settle with any degree of permanence. Her diet alone, though better than a traditional vampire diet, was suspicious within itself.
What was she thinking? Is she telling the truth?

"Her thoughts agreed with what she was saying" Edward told Rosalie, a bit surprised of this fact. "But I dont know if it was the truth, or if she's just good at lying" He said honestly. Good liars would think of their own lie to sound convincing. It usually worked too.
Edward knew that he should be feeling relieved right now that the new vampire didnt appear to be planning a killing spree in the school today but he was still feeling uneasy. Having another vampire take up residence here and attend their school was more than unsettling. If the girl messed up and exposed herself, it could cause doubt on the rest of them. "We need to keep an eye on this"

Rosalie frowned softly at their predicament. Of course they would need to keep tabs on them. They had only been here for two years; none of them were ready to leave and this girl could possibly ruin it for them. Whichever way they approached it, it needed their most subtle efforts. Alice needed to be nearby, Edward could keep tabs on her mind, Jasper just needed to stroll by for a few seconds and Emmett and herself would be vigilant when they pretended to relieve their surveillance.
But first things first. I'm calling Carlisle. She slipped her elegant hand into one of the pockets of her bag and fished out a small silver device. She flipped it open and quickly found the number she needed.

Happily, Carlisle was on a break at work, a half eaten pasta salad in front of him - ugh, the things he did to keep up appearances, and always with that dashing smile. He idly clicked some buttons on his little silver phone to give him an excuse not to engage the flocking nurses in inane conversation. It wasn't that he disliked interaction, but their behaviour sometimes became indecent to his old fashioned tastes and he didn't like to encourage them. However, just as it appeared that one new nurse was gaining the confidence to interrupt his playing, his phone actually did make a low trill. He flashed the nurse a kind smile and lifed the phone to his ear.
"Rosalie?" he always made a point of looking at the caller ID before answering. He shifted into one of the empty rooms, not wanting his conversation to be over heard. He knew that whatever had happened must be quite important to warrent a call from school and if it was serious to them, then it wouldn't do to be overheard. "Is something wrong?"

Thankfully, Carlisle picked up quickly. "Carlisle," she breathed, relieved only slighty due to the sound of her father's voice. Whatever was wrong, which they still weren't quite sure about, Carlisle would know what to do. "We don't know yet," she answered quickly and low enough for no one to be able to eavesdrop. "We're at the school and we crossed paths with another." Her mind scrambled for a second, trying to decide which piece of information was more important to report. "Edward spoke to her alone while we listened. Her thoughts seem to be in line with the innocent intentions she voices," she continued, rapidly. As she spoke she walked to where the girl had stood, speaking to Edward; it took her a second to commit her scent to memory. "She says her diet is mixed, but will not hunt in the area."
It bothered her that the interaction could not have been prolonged. She hated reporting something serious to Carlisle without more knowledge. Their ignorance could ruin everything for them.

Carlisle inhaled deeply in his abandoned room, taking in every facet of scent in the room, just to make sure that he was truly free to speak. It was sometimes difficult to assess the scent in a hospital - there was so much blood around, combined with the stench of illness and death, chemicals and bleach - it was hard to discern one living, natural scent among it. He had his own fair share of experience in doing it though, so after two long breaths while he listened to Rosalie's quick report of the situation, he was ninety-nine percent certain that he was alone. Even so, when he spoke it was quick a low, a sound that would register as a low buzz to a passing human.
"Thank you, Rose," he said, happy that his children would always be vigilent and sensible enough not to ignore this, they all loved their current location too much to leave it prematurely. He took a split second to mull over the situation. As a general rule, Carlisle was extremely understanding of any passing guests, but he did like to err on the cautious side and personally remind them that this was Cullen territory, in which their rules needed to be abided by. But if his children had done that for him... He trusted them.
"So long as you've stated our territory and our rules and she shows no outward - or inward - signs of dissenting, we should leave her be," he said in a quick, low hum. "We don't want to drive her into killing out of frustration or rebellion. Keep an eye on her, though, try to be subtle about it, but make sure she doesn't cross the line, especially when she's looking thirsty - I would hate to bring up any old tensions with the Quileutes if she did."
He paused, suddenly quiet and still as a gaggle of interns were shepherded past by a resident at the end of his tether.
"I'm sorry to put this on you and your siblings, Rose, but there's not much I can do from here, though I will try to find out what I can."
