Philadelphia, 1948 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jasper adjusted the collar on his coat before putting his hands back into his pockets. Somehow, he had ended up in Philadelphia. Truth be told, it did not matter where Jasper went, or how far he traveled. He was still haunted by his past. . . one that was quite recent as well. It was the middle of the day and Jasper desperately wished it was night. At night, there were less people. But since he did not sleep, he had to wander at all times during the day and night.
As the rain started to pour, this only made things more inconvenient. He knew the effect rain would have on him and he was already extremely uncomfortable at the moment. He was thirsty. Seeing people around him made the temptation and urge even greater. He was trying to do whatever was necessary for him to survive, but the people he did kill to quench his thirst was still a difficult task to do. He could still feel their fear and pain. Was there any way to escape this?
As these thoughts flooded Jasper's mind, he saw a small diner that did not look to be too crowded. He went inside, and to both his relief and disappointment, there were people inside but not too many. He shook his head a little, as the small raindrops dripped from his blond strands of hair. He stood there in the door way for a few moments, looking at the crowd that surrounded him.

Alice sat on the seat by the side of her, waiting for something. She had just had a vision that she would meet the most wonderful person in here. Jasper Hale was his name. She sighed happily at the sound of it.
She continued waiting. Not too long left now. About 37 seconds. She continued looking around the room, just in case she was wrong and he was already here.
Then she saw him, Jasper and all of his perfection. She sighed happily again and then stood up, waiting for him to come over to her. But as she looked closer towards him, she could see the scars on his face and his very dark red eyes. None of the humans here would have thought he was a freak because they weren't very bright. Alice could also get away with it because her eyes were a lovely butterscotch gold colour.
Alice could also see that if they did get together, (which they were) they would meet another group of Vampires. She was so exited that she decided to walk up to this Jasper person.

As Jasper stood there, unsure of his next move, his attention rested upon a woman. Not just any woman. He was not sure what it was about it, but he looked at her, unable to look away. She was beautiful. Exquisite. And she was looking at him too. Did he know her? Surely not. He was not likely to forget a face as breathtaking as hers.
As she slowly approached him, he had to force himself to look away -- behind him -- to see if she was looking at someone else. Seconds later, he looked back at her. She was coming closer and as she was, he felt something that he had never felt before. It was . . . happiness? Her smile was bright and friendly. But her emotions. . . they were completely unfamiliar to Jasper. The company he had associated himself with for the past several years had been anything but happy. They had been angry. Vengeful. Greedy. Violent. Nothing was as calming as what he felt when he was near her.
He welcomed the feeling all too gladly. His eyes slightly widened in surprise. She seemed so confident. It was really making him wonder. He would have asked but he could not get the words out. He was captivated by her and so all he could do was stare.

"I've been waiting for you Jasper," she said, staring into his dark red eyes. He was just as perfect as her, all except for the bite marks covering his face. He looked relieved about something. Sort of happy, even though he was only staring at her. It was like he had been needing her for all of his life, but had never found her.
Alice kept on walking until she was right next to him. She smiled back up at him, showing welcoming. She hadn't really seen many other Vampires, and this one looked so nice and caring. She new that he had once belonged in those Southerner fight things, but she would soon teach him what it was like to be like her.

Waiting? For him? Why? Who was she? How did she know his name? How was she expecting him?
So many questions. Jasper wanted to ask them all at once. But he could not seem to find the right words. And his immense respect for women prohibited him from simply spouting out these questions. He had to be more courteous than that.
He lowered his head in a slight bow. "Sorry to keep you waiting ma'am." To him, that was the appropriate thing to say. His gaze rested on the floor only for a few moments as he looked back curiously at her. What now?
"May I ask your name?" She had him at a disadvantage. She knew about him . . . he knew nothing of her. There was a brief fear that Maria had sent her. But logic exceeded this concern and the possibility was soon erased from his mind. She was not the kind of woman who Maria would associate with . . . or who would associate with Maria rather. This stranger's presence had a different effect on him.

Alice as smiled at his response to her. "I'm Alice," she said, "I actually don't know my last name. I may not even have one," she said, "I don't know my past," she said. Jasper really did look quite relieved, and puzzled. Maybe he was wondering why Alice knew almost everything about him.
"It's a long story," she said, "I'll explain later" she added, and then smiled up at him again. "But we need to go somewhere. To show you something," she said, and then grabbed his hand. "I hope you don't mind," she said.

"Alice," he repeated, acknowledging her name. The more she spoke, the more Jasper came to believe that she was one of him. No. That was extremely wrong. She was not like him in any way. . . but her scent . . . her grace . . . she was a vampire. It was strange for Jasper to see a vampire so different from the ones he had encountered in the past. He had never seen a genuinely happy one, who did not look bloodthirsty of give of any feelings of aggression.
Her lack of knowledge on her past made Jasper a little envious. He wished that he could have forgotten his own, but instead, he killed away any trace of humanity he may have had left by murdering others and feeding the hungry obsession of a greedy vampire.
He welcomed the embrace of her hand, feeling her emotions even more strongly now. He found himself not wanting to depart from her. He had only met her a few seconds ago, and yet he felt that he could never leave, the fear of never feelings these things again prominent in his mind. His hand relaxed in hers and he was prepared to follow her lead.
"Where are we going?" It seemed like a childish thing to ask, for he should just silently follow, but this was all so . . . strange. A good strange no doubt, but still, strange.

Alice smiled back up at Jasper. "We're going to look around for something," she said, "I had a vision of were we should go. We're meeting other Vampires," she added. He really did look a bit surprised to see her. Maybe she had approached him the wrong way, but Alice could see that if she didn't do this for him, his future would be grim and dark, full of fights and blood lust.
"Shall we go, now?" she asked after a while, after staring t his face. She had been looking for someone like him for a while now. She really looked forward to spending time with him. But his future was undecided. It was like he didn't know what to do with his life. Alice was sure that he was running away from something, something that he had to get away from, and she was here to help him get away from it.

A vision? Which other vampires were they going to meet? Why . . . how . . . Jasper just looked at her. He felt compelled to trust her. Whoever she was, she had a great influence over him and the fact that he knew this right after meeting her just further proved his point. "Please, lead the way." He would remain polite and ask as few questions at a time. He did not want to overwhelm her as surely she understood the confusion in his eyes.
"You have visions?" He asked in a tone that implied it was both a question and a statement. It would not be that difficult for Jasper to believe that she had premonitions of some sort. After all, if he was a vampire who could control others emotions. . . then a vampire who had visions was not too hard to accept.
One question at a time.
He had to keep reminding himself of this.

Alice looked back up towards Jasper, "Woops, I forgot to tell you that," she said and then laughed. "Yes, I have visions of the future. But I can only see they future when it has been decided, and I can see that if we go together now, that we'll end up being really happy together," she said, and then smiled. She could tell that Jasper was worried. This unique individuals made her feel calm, like she had no worries. It felt odd because she could hardly feel any other emotions, just calm.
"We should go now though," she finally said, "If we don't we could miss our chance. Follow me and you'll be fine," she said, and then smiled again up towards him. His yes were odd though, a dark crimson red. It made me shudder slightly. So I grabbed his hand softly and led him out of the place.

All this information was overwhelming, and at the same time . . . it gave Jasper so much hope. "So you have foreseen this." Again, it was both a question and a statement. He was not sure how to react to all of this. "Alice, do you know how you came to gain this ability of yours?" Jasper did not know how he got his own . . . maybe she had a better understanding. Though, she did mention that she knew nothing of her past, so maybe not. Still, he felt the need to ask.
His trust for her was inexplicably strong. He felt her soft hand touch his, and did not recoil from her touch. He embraced it and wrapped his fingers around her hand, prepared to go where ever she was taking them. "Where are we going?" He asked, still possessing the fear of asking too many questions at once.
