((Timeline: Pre-New Moon)) Reily was somewhat excited, and embarrassed at the same time that she needed to be taught how to catch animals, and.. well... feed. She felt like a baby, and in some aspect, she was. Making her way into a dense, foggy forest, Reily quickly felt the air somehow warm from the thick forest. The temperature seemed to be a few degrees warmer because the wind was less able to reach in inner section of the place.
Turning around, the girl flashed a deep black-eyed stare at her traveling companion at the moment, Rosalie Hale. Smiling slightly, the girl said, "I'm sorry I needed to be.. taught. I feel like such a baby." For some reason, Reily took comfort in the fact that Rosalie was a girl, and could probably understand better than a boy would.

The journey had been mostly without event, which surprised Rosalie. The girl that had been taken under their wings had been void of feeding for much to long, evident in her eyes. She would have expected an outburst or two whenever they had inadvertently crossed a human scent. For the most part, Rose still wasn't sure what to think of their guest. They had been introduced and Rosalie had made Esme proud in her share of hospitality, but she still felt shock at the age the girl had been turned. There were moments where she would barely look at her. She had spent so many years resenting the life that had been denied to her, she wondered how many years it would take Reily to feel it, if at all.
"Don't feel sorry," she answered the girl, feeling the need to encourage her. "This lifestyle is hard to adjust to. There won't be much teaching, per se, mostly guidance." She tried to give the girl a confident smile. She was young and will not have the trouble Jasper has, but she imagined the conversion was difficult nonetheless. "This way," she told her before breaking into a sprint, leading her deeper into the forest that lined the mountain.

"Don't feel sorry. This lifestyle is hard to adjust to. There won't be much teaching, per se, mostly guidance."
This made Reily feel a lot better. Giving a smile of thanks, Reily scratched her neck, and quickly sprinted after the woman. It was still amazing how fast she could move, compared to humans. It was weird, too, how the reflexes also came with it, which was the only thing that kept her from colliding with dozens of trees. Eventually, Reily zoned out, and gave herself over to the random avoiding of trees and speedy chase of Rosalie.

Leading the way after leaving the trail they had started on, Rosalie extended her senses in search of any animal scent they could start on. Judging by the girl's eyes, they'd need something big, and quite a few of them. At the faintest ruffle of leaves, Rosalie locked her legs and stopped underneath a massive cedar, turning towards the girl. Looking at her again, she felt the same pang of pity she'd first felt when she'd told her story. This poor child, damned to their eternity before her life had even started.
"Ok," she started. "It's pretty much the same concept. The main difference is that human senses are less acute than an animals." Rosalie had no experience hunting humans, but was knowledgeable enough. Her seven human victims had not had the mercy of a swift kill nor the opportunity to quench her thirst. Rose quickly pushed her own thoughts aside and continued. "They can at times hear or smell our approach, but our speed and strength demolishes any advantage they have," she added with a grin. "So from here," she continued, taking a step forward so that she was only a foot away from her, "concentrate on your surroundings."

Edward had decided to tag along on their first hunting trip together. He knew that if while they were out Reily caught the scent of a human that either was close by or had been in the area, that she probably wouldn't be strong enough to resist it yet and Rosalie might need help in bringing her back in. It would also be good to monitor Reily's thoughts throughout the hunt to see how she was handling it.
Edward had been very proud of how accepting and welcoming his sister Rosalie had been. Of his sisters, Rosalie was not the one he would have expected to have volunteered for something like this. He couldn't help but wish Rose had been as hospitable with Bella when she first met her.

"It's pretty much the same concept. The main difference is that human senses are less acute than an animals."
"So this should be harder?" asked Reily, not really concerned. She looked around to see Edward, whom she had not really known was coming. Smiling meakly at him to cover up the jump she had made, she turned back to Rosalie.
"They can at times hear or smell our approach, but our speed and strength demolishes any advantage they have. So from here, concentrate on your surroundings."
Feeling very ockweird at first, Reily locked her gaze on the partially viewable leafy floor of the forest, and inhaled deeply, without moving much. Not really knowing the smell of animals, Reily frowned and looked at Rosalie. "What exactly am I supposed to be looking for?" She knew animals, so if the girl answered that, she would be very annoyed. She didn't know what they smelled like really, and what animal she was supposed to be looking for.

Perhaps Rosalie had underestimated the extra effort vegetarians needed to invest in their hunt. Humans were always in plane sight and their senses made them the easier kill. Hiding her impatience well, she shook her head slightly. "It's not harder, you just get better use of your instincts. Once you find what you're looking for, it all comes naturally." Rosalie momentarily remembered her first hunt, which didn't differ from this one. Edward had been there as well that time. The main difference was that she'd never tasted human blood before, she wondered if the girl would be able to commit to animals.
"You're gonna concentrate on your hearing first. Sound travels faster than aromas," she explained calmly, pushing her own thirst aside. "Listen for a heartbeat, hooves and paws." Goat Rocks was usually isolated, Rosalie expected the girl to be able to encounter the small group of deer she'd already pinpointed to their north.

Edward smiled back at Reily encouragingly. He was proud at her for trying this, and giving it an honest effort. "Try not to think of it in terms of being difficult, just look at it as a challenge. It hones your skills, makes you better" Edward added on. He tried to keep himself from admitting that the skills he was encouraging her to work on were the same ones that could end up making her more dangerous to humans, Bella included. Was he tutoring someone who could end up being a threat to her?
Edward listened to Rosalie giving Reily the instructions of what to look, or rather listen for first. He was very impressed at his sister for doing so well with her. He wondered if it was because of the girl's young age that Reily found more sympathy for her, maybe even connected better with her. Did it give Rosalie the chance to do some of the mothering for once?

[sorry first feeding scene, i kno its sappy. sorry]
"It's not harder, you just get better use of your instincts. Once you find what you're looking for, it all comes naturally. You're gonna concentrate on your hearing first. Sound travels faster than aromas. Listen for a heartbeat, hooves and paws."
Smiling to Rosalie, she nodded and became nearly still, listening to the sounds of the forest bounce off trees, and the sounds of life overhead.
"Try not to think of it in terms of being difficult, just look at it as a challenge. It hones your skills, makes you better."
Not moving to this, the girl continued to remain still. A heartbeat was the easiest for Reily, mostly because almost all creature's hearts sounded the same. Suddenly, Reily jerked her head up a bit, and disappeared in a northern direction, completely ignoring the two travelers with her. She felt ockweird leaving them, but was sure they'll catch up in a minute. She stopped as soon as she caught sight of a single deer, and then she saw many more. She stared at them with beady, wanting eyes, and speed off towards them.
It was embarrassing to say they evaded her for quiet sometime before she caught their pattern of movement. Finally, she snatched up one, and almost fell over. She was unprepared for it's weight, and it squirmed in her grasp. Giving herself over, she clutched it tight, and bit into it's neck. Ugh! This is no where near as good as human blood is. This thought almost made her stop, in search of tastier prey, but her clamp would not realease.

[sappy is great ] Rosalie tired kept her expression serious while she and her brother taught the newborn how to kill. She couldn't imagine what the girl was thinking and, for a split second, wished she had her bother's talent. She looked at Edward and tried to picture him at 15 like this girl. It wasn't very hard. Edward had entered this life when he wasn't much older than Reily. Rosalie had always been thankful that he'd saved them, but she still sometimes wondered if death had not been better.
Reacting quickly, she darted behind Reily when she took off, but kept her distance to let her get the first hunt. Watching her hunt her first was a an interesting bit. Rosalie bit back a grin as she watched the young vampire chase her prey. Allowing her to adjust to the deer's evasion, Rosalie nodded to herself once when the girl finally took her first vegetarian drink. Rose was now tense where she stood, her instincts and increasing thirst demanding that she take her own. But she willed it aside, letting Reily finish her first before she joined in

Edward followed soon after Reily and his sister. He didn't go as fast as he could, trying to stay out of her way but he knew he needed to be near her. This was the part of the hunt that Edward was most worried about. He heard her thoughts on the taste of the animal blood and knew she was questioning the decision to even try it. She was still craving blood and being a newborn had little in the way to restrain her.
The frenzy any vampire felt while feeding was intense. It was the reason Edward would never allow Bella to be around when he went hunting. Even after all they had been through, he wouldn't trust himself in that moment, when the bloodlust took over. This moment now was dangerous for Reily. If she caught scent of a human, or even made the decision at that moment that human blood would be better, she might take off in search of it.

[thanks then]
Fustration welled up in Reily as she was now able to concentrate. This was not enough. What she fought to control was loose now, and it wanted human blood. Bad. But it was close enough for now. It was close, and required little hunting now. Snatching up a rather large deer, now ready for it's weight, she bit into it's neck almost instantly. She felt bad in the back of her mind for harming such innocent creatures, but pushed it aside, for this was her life now, to stoop so low as to harm others to live.
After she had had enough to gain control again, the girl returned to Rosalie, and Edward. There were few deer left, and she apologized for it. "That was..." said Reily, struggling for words. "Unpleasent."

Rosalie stood next to her brother, resisting the temptation to join the girl in the hunt. She was thankful for her control of herself, and wondered how long it would take Reily to reach a similar level. Recognizing the sheer power of a vampires instincts, she saw Reily take down one dear after another in an attempt to quench the inescapable thirst. She remembered one of Jasper's first vegetarian hunts, but quickly pushed the memory aside. This child had nothing compared to the deeply disturbing past that he carried with him. Discernible streaks of pity and pity struck Rosalie. Whoever turned this child was the bigger monster than Reily will ever think of herself, something Rose knew she would struggle with for the whole of her existence.
Rosalie was prepared for the girl's reaction. She smirked knowingly and nodded. "They say it's nowhere near as satisfying as a human's blood," she conceded. "But we have lived many years this way," she added, glancing at her brother, "and it does offer some peace of mind, even if just a little" She hoped for the girl's sake, she would be able to adopt their restraint.
