Quil's face lit up as Claire raced over to him with her coloring book. He bent down to her level to look at it as she explained how it was a wolf like him. "Wow, thats very nice...nice nail polish too" He said with a smile, wondering if now she'd be wanting to give him a pedicure in his wolf form. Hopefully it would stay on the coloring book, but if it made her happy, he'd gladly do it, no matter how his brothers teased him. He nodded as she asked if he liked it. "Yeah, I do like it."
Quil heard Sam's words of encouragement and support, appreciating that he was there to help him through this. He then heard Emily's voice telling him about the muffins. "Hey Emily, yeah milk's fine" He told her, following Sam and Claire into the dining room, taking the seat Emily had left for him at Claire's other side. He was nervous as he sat there, but tried not to let Claire see it. He heard the door open again and his nervousness tripled. He knew that Claire's mother wasn't thrilled about all of this, so he couldn't imagine how she'd feel being here to have this kind of conversation with her daughter. He gave a small smile to her when she looked over at him.

Sam smiled and felt the slight tingle left on his cheek from Emily’s kiss. She always had the same affect on him, not that he’d let anyone other then her seem that. He picked up his plate and glass of milk and was just about to enter the living room when he heard the sound of Rayen’s voice. He’d always liked Rayen, she was straight forward and a great mother and sister. He knew she was here for this meeting of sorts today.
Walking out in to the living room he noticed that Emily had left a spot between her and Quil; he’d leave that for Rayen. There was not way he could be this close to Quil while they spilled all the secrets and history of their legends and origins. Nor was he sure he wanted to be that close to Quil at all. It still hurt losing him to another pack. The whole idea of the other pack was ike a thorn in his side, or paw. Losing Jacob was bad, Leah he could almost understand as could he with Seth; but Quil for him to leave the pack after imprinting on Sam's neice. Sam found the idea disloyal. Yet he felt his tone civil for little Claire's sake, though he wasn't sure he could do that now; especially if Quil spoke of the other pack.
He nodded to Rayen and smile. Then turned to the rest of the group. “So if we’re all here, lets get started.” He said opting to lean against the kitchen door frame for now. “Quil? You want to go first?”

Quil's head turned up to look at Sam with panic in his eyes as he suggested he go first. Quil was not used to this type of thing. He wasn't the leader type, that was always Sam and Jacob. He quickly turned his eyes away however when he saw a familiar look in Sam's eyes. He had heard enough of Sam's thoughts in the pack to have a good idea what he was thinking of. Quil hated that there was still tension over his pack choice. Quil had been friends with Jacob his whole life, and really only got to know Sam after the change. Sam would always be his family, especially with the imprinting on Claire, but Jacob would always be one of his best friends. He had to push the guilt aside, knowing there would be much more tension over the night than over this.
Quil really didnt want to start this conversation. He still didnt know how much he should be telling Claire. He thought the best way might be to see what she was still confused about, see what she needed help understanding of what she already knew. "Claire...we all want to help you understand better everything thats been going on. You already know that your Uncle Sam and I are different than most people. Do you have any questions...or things you dont understand?" He asked her gently.

Emily waved to her sister from her spot behind the wooden table. She wasn’t sure if Claire would have any questions, but she knew her sister would. That was a given, and she didn’t blame her one bit. She noted that Sam didn’t take the seat between them and smiled up at him. He could be such a gentleman. Though the guys never seemed to see the soft side of him, she wondered if they could see it existed when he was with her.
She felt a little sorry for Quil when the attention was directed toward him. He had to be nervous already he didn’t need any more pressure. She shot a look at Sam as if to say ‘cut him some slack you never had to explain imprinting to my parents. She motioned her head toward Rayen. She smiled at her sister, trying to keep things less tense and awkward than they bound to get. She patted the seat next to her.

Claire had barely noticed that her family was increasingly nervous as they gathered around her, exchanging glances and sporting anxious eyes. Her mama looked uncomfortable, but she smiled anyway, glad that she was there. Her pictures was almost done and the muffin and milk were starting to dominate her attention more. She stopped for a bit to pick up her glass of milk with both tiny hands and took a sip.
She looked up when Quil started talking to her, and she automatically grinned at the sound of his voice. The question he asked her seemed simple enough, though she wasn't sure what the answer was. She looked at Quil wide-eyed, and smiled again. "You mean about wolves?"

Rayen looked from her daughter and Quil to Emily as she patted the seat beside her. She would be glad of the closeness to Emily as this conversation progressed. She wasn’t sure what was going to be said and told, but she knew she was nervous and uncomfortable. This was her daughter’s future, life and heart. The three parts she would do anything to keep from including pain for suffering.
She smiled at Claire as she crossed the room. She hoped the smile didn’t give away her true discomfort that she felt, but she knew Claire was a perceptive little girl. She noticed everything, a fact that sometimes could drive Rayen to distraction.
She sat down next to her sister and look at Claire as she spoke to Quil. Her body was tense as she tried to keep an open mind about all that was going to happen in the next few hours.

Sam caught the look as it silently shot across the room from Emily. He knew he should be a little easier on Quil, but that was easier said then done. Quil had crossed the line and chosen Jacob’s pack over the original La Push pack. Sam felt this was ultimate betrayal, and this made it hard for him to distinguish between that Quil and Claire’s Quil. He nodded and Emily and flashed her a weak smile as he sipped his milk.
As Rayen crossed the room Sam felt for her. This was hard on her, he knew that and it showed in her face and her posture. As she sat next to Emily Sam let his eyes wander to Claire as she spoke. She said the word wolf so easy, so carefree. Sam couldn’t help but smile as the ease of it, yet it worried him a little.
The atmosphere in the room was tense. This was going to be a long, long conversation and a long afternoon. Sam took a bit of his muffing and slid down to get comfortable to lean back against the wall and settled in for the coming stories.

Despite everything that was going on and the obvious tension in the room, Claire was still her normal happy self. The beauty of a child. Quil knew that Rayen would probably have even more questions about all of this than Claire did. He was more than willing to tell her anything she wanted to know. He understood that she was just trying to protect her daughter. He wondered if she would bring up her questions and concerns now or wait until Claire wasn't around. Quil thought that Rayen would be less accepting of this than Claire would be.
Claire didnt seem worried at all about the conversation/meeting that they were all having. She merely asked in a very carefree manner whether he meant wolves. He smiled at her, appreciating her intelligence and nodded. "Yeah..about wolves. Its something most people your age don't even know about, so its okay if you have questions, or dont understand things"

Emily couldn’t hold back the smile when little Claire said the word wolves so calmly. She was the only upbeat person in the room. Then again Emily couldn’t remember the little girl being too upset as long as Quil was around. She had to wonder if the little girl ever noticed she was different. Not only because she was in on a monumental secret, she was part of something bigger than that. Someone belonged to her, and her to him, she wondered if somewhere deep inside the girl realized at least a touch of it.
After all what other little girl had so many people that wanted to be there for her as if she belonged to all of them. Emily kept her eyes on whoever was speaking at the moment, but kept her own mouth shut. She was hoping she could just melt into the background and give her two cents only when I was really needed. She smiled at Claire when the attention was directed to her now. A sign that she wasn’t being ganged up on, they were all there for her. [/blockquote ]

Claire smiled when Quil reminded her that not everyone knew the secret. It made her feel special and she had pinky sworn to Quil that she would never tell anyone. It was the biggest secret that anyone had ever told her... even bigger than when Amy told her that she glued her brother's shoes together. She pinky swore to Amy too, and never told anyone. But she loved Quil better so she knew she could keep his secret better than Amy's.
She looked at Quil, and then to the rest of her family, finally sporting a small hint of confusion in her eyes. She had heard that when people got older, they started getting tests in school and stuff. But she wasn't in school, and she wasn't sure why Quil, Sam, Emily and her mom were looking at her like that. Was she supposed to answer something important. "I dunno," she said, this time her voice smaller. "I like that you and Uncle Sam are wolves." She wasn't sure if she was right, but at least she knew it was the truth.

This topic was one that never pleased Rayen. The whole imprinting thing to her always seemed so wrong. Admittedly she accepted Quil’s role in her daughter’s life and therefore in hers, but she was never completely comfortable with the situation
She listened as Quil spoke to Claire, the little girls calmness at the talk belied her age. Yet not to Rayen, if anything she still saw the baby she had held in her arms for the first time those long years ago. Claire was still her baby and always would be.
Rayen could tell it was going to be hard for her to stay quiet, but she recognized this was for Claire. Perhaps the conversation would help set her own mind at ease a little more. Slowly Rayen folded her arms and tried to concentrate on what was been said around her.

Quil gave a quick glance around the room. Rayen, Emily and Sam were all being quiet, allowing him to be the one to talk to Claire. He knew that this was important and he needed to handle the situation well. They were all depending on him to be able to deal with the this talk with Claire. It would show how responsible he was, and could affect how willing Rayen was to continue allowing him to see her daughter. Of course knowing all of that put immense pressure on him.
Quil smiled happily as Claire told him that she liked that he and Sam were wolves. He was glad that it wasn't something that seemed to freak her out or even concern her in the least. Maybe having grown up with them made it easier for her to understand. It was just an everyday part of her world, nothing abnormal or strange and scary about it. "I'm glad you like that" He told her still smiling. "Is there anything about it that confuses you...or maybe that you don't like?"

Leaning against the wall Sam listened to Quil and Claire. He could hear the nerves in the young wolf’s voice and he didn’t blame him for that. Everything he said he would stay with Claire, and Rayen, and could influence his future with the little girl. Sam had never had to explain the whole imprinting thing to Emily’s parents the way Quil had to do right now. Same felt a pang on support go out to the kid, then he remember he was on the other team now. He may have imprinted on his niece but that wasn’t going to carry one ounce of support for anything else that went on outside of this room.
Sam looked to Claire as she spoke; such innocence and honesty in her words. She took the whole wolf thing in her stride.
Sam could tell Rayen wasn’t taking it all so easily. He didn’t blame her; he hadn’t been thrilled with this whole thing when he first heard it either. Now thought, at least the imprinting, Sam had learned to deal with. Everything else was a work in progress and could wait.
Taking another bite of his muffin he continued to listen to everything. He knew he may be needed at some point.

Claire was picking apart her muffin into small bite-sized pieces so that she could spend the maximum amount of time eating them. She knew that she wouldn't be allowed to have another muffin, so she tried to make this one last as long as she could. She popped one into her mouth and followed it with a sip of milk, thinking about Quil's question. He'd never really asked her anything like that before, and she never really asked about him being a wolf. She just thought that Uncle Sam and him were friends and played as wolves a lot, and sometimes wished she could too.
She smiled when the first question she thought of made her wonder. "Do you have any other wolf friends?" she asked brightly. She didn't always need more than one person to play with; Quil was fun all by himself. But sometimes at school she played with a few other kids at the same time and it was fun too.

Quil watched as Claire picked apart her muffin as she ate it. He hoped that the way they were having this meeting today wasn't making Claire nervous, or feel as though she had done something wrong. He had wanted her to have the support of her family but hoped she didn't feel like she was in the hot seat right now, the way that Quil himself was currently feeling. Claire had always taken in everything about their situation with such ease, it was amazing, but it didn't stop Quil from worrying that she would get to a point where it would start to scare her away. He wondered if Rayen would almost prefer that Claire get scared away so that she'd never become a part of this strange life.
Quil glanced at Sam briefly as he heard Claire's question. Inside he was wondering if he'd even still be able to consider Sam his wolf friend or if that time was long past with the changing of the packs. Quil still hoped that he'd be able to mend things with his former alpha.
"Yeah, I do have a few wolf friends" Quil said, deciding that telling her everyone in both packs right away might be a little overwhelming but mentioning a few of her uncles may give her an idea. "Like your uncles, Jacob and Embry, and Jared and Paul and a few others"
