New to the site? Or maybe you’re just taking a look around thinking about joining? Well this is the place to find out more about what this is all about and how to join in the fun!
About this site
This is an RPG or role playing game for the Twilight saga. It is based on the characters from both the books and the movie. While minor discrepencies between the two may exist, the basic premise should be similar enough to not cause too much confusion. Because it is based on the books as well as the movie, there may be some spoilers for anyone who has not read the books (or all of them). This is allowed, and you've been warned.
What’s an RPG? If you’ve never participated in an RPG before, don’t worry! Its easy and more importantly very fun! According to wikipedia an RPG is “a game in which the participants assume the roles of fictional characters and collaboratively create or follow stories”. So basically, you take on the role of a character (by following the proper character request format by posting a bio (and getting it approved if you're requesting a character from the books/movie).Then that character is yours to write as, and yours alone. No one else should write actions, thoughts or words for your character, and you shouldn’t write for anyone else either. You can then interact with other characters on the board, creating your own stories for them.
Since this particular RPG is based on the Twilight saga, the characters are already made (by the wonderful and talented Stephenie Meyer). So when requesting a character the personality and history of the character has already been done for you. The bio is your place to just show briefly that you know the character you're requesting, and that you're able to write in character. Once getting accepted, its now your job to interpret how you think “your” character would react in various situations. You do not have to follow the plot lines of the movie/books word for word, but you can use these as a guide, or a place to get new ideas from. The story is merely the idea for the board, but it doesn’t have to. If your character would NEVER do/say a certain thing...dont do it. Also major events of the movie/book WILL be considered essential to the story and are not up for negotiation (example - this is not an 'alternate universe' board - you cannot say that Bella never moved to Forks, never met the Cullens etc.)
What’s the timeline for this rpg? That’s the beauty of an rpg! You can have multiple threads (as many as you can keep up with) and they can occur at different points in time! They can occur before the books/movie, afterwards, or at any point in between.
You also have a lot of freedom with characters. Multiple characters are allowed. Just make sure you can keep up with multiples! Also, something to keep in mind, you probably do not want to request characters that interact frequently, or you may have difficulty roleplaying with others (being several characters from the same family for example will limit who you can be threads with).
So after reading all of this you’ve decided you want to join in (or hopefully you have). What do you need to do to get started?
1. Register! At the top of every page right below the banneryou'll see a Register button...its on the right. Or click here
When registering you can pick any username you like (you can change your display name later on by going to your profile, so don’t worry if you don’t have your character picked out yet)
2. Verify your account. After registering you’ll receive an email with detailed instructions on how to verify your account.
3. Read the rules! Once you’re a registered member, make sure you read ALL the rules of the game! General Rules, Character Rules, Chatroom Rules/Guidelines
4. Pick a character! Check out the taken character list, and decide who you’d like to be. Use the format for bios that’s given and submit one in the proper place (depending on if your character is from the books/movie or your own made up character). If you are making up a character, please follow the guidelines in the advice threads for either Human, Vampire or Werewolf. These advice threads will give you an idea of what will and won't be accepted in your bios. The Character Profile thread in the information board will also help guide you for starting up your new character. At this point you want to change your display name to your character name (you can do so from the profile link up top and clicking to "modify profile).
5. Get approved! Use our character profile form, fill it out, and wait for one of the staff to approve you. We usually get to them quickly but everyone gets busy at times, so please try to be patient if it takes awhile. We may be discussing it before we get back to you. You may also be requested to change something in your bio before its approved. Dont be discouraged! This is nothing personal and could just be something that you either left out, or worded strangely that needs clearing up, or it could just be extra information that would be helpful to new members using your bio as an example!
6. Start playing! Now’s the fun part! You can start playing! Get creative and most importantly, have fun!
See that was easy wasn’t it? What are you waiting for, sign up and get involved in the game! You wont regret it!
