{Eclipse, First Date...Leo} Isabelle stared at her reflection in the mirror and sighed. She looked over at the piles of clothes that seemed to still be growing as she searched for the perfect outfit. Was a dress to dressy? Would jeans be too casual? She could feel her nerves, and the butterflies taking flight in her stomach. They seemed to be flying into each other, and she heard her stomach rumble in protest. She hadn’t eaten much, she was far too anxious.
The girl smiled as she reached for the hanger closest to the wall in her tiny closet. It was a pretty yellow sun dress with white polka dots, her Aunt in Brazil had made it for her. She had been inspired by Isabelle’s matching shoes, with the two inch heels. So much for never finding anything to wear them with. Isabelle smiled satisfactorily as she zipped the dress onto her petite frame. It seemed the perfect choice, at least she hoped it was.
The weather had been getting cooler until that weekend. The temperature was still nice enough for a swim. Isabelle heard the knocks at the door and almost tripped over the chair behind her vanity as she rushed to the door. She was glad her father wasn't ther to interrogate Leo on their first date. He probably wouldn’t want to date her after that. Isabelle kept her hand on the railing as she zipped down the steps, her ankle only twisted slightly once, and she was immediately thankful her ankles weren’t weak.
Isabelle stared at her fathers hand on the door in horror, before letting her eyes drop to the floor. She knew better than to speak up to her Dad, she’d learned and had time to think it over on plenty of occasions with cover up. He turned to face his daughter before turning the knob. “Going somewhere?” he asked with the same unconcerned grin. He wasn’t due home until tomorrow morning from the night shift, but apparently he’d called out. Isabelle kept quiet but looked up rather stunned when she seen her fathers reaction to her rather impressive date. He towered over her short stubby father, and her Dad turned to walk away. “Don’t get home too late,” he mumbled under his breath before heading toward the kitchen. The pudgy man looked afraid, almost terrified. And It made Issy want to laugh. Instead, she hurried to the door, smiled up at leo and closed the thoughts in with the sound of the clicking the door made as it shut. She laughed, ‘I need to keep you around more often,’ she said under her breath. A human would not have been able to hear it.

Leo was nervous. Everything about this date had him worried. For one, he really liked this girl. More than liked actually, but to allow himself to admit how he was really feeling would make him sound crazy, even to himself. But Leo knew if he screwed things up with her, he'd never forgive himself. This was also the first date he had been on since 'the change'. Part of him wondered if he'd be a little rusty, forgetting how to act on a date. But more so he'd worry that he'd be acting differently now, that she'd somehow notice something was wrong with him, that he was a freak of nature. Or worse yet, that almost uncontrollable change would occur while they were out. He couldnt let that happen. He was determined that even if it meant him running away mid sentence from her, he wouldn't let her see the horrible secret he held.
Leo had worried about what the proper attire woud be for the evening. He didn't want to look like he was trying too hard, but he also wanted to look like he did put some effort into his clothes, that he wasn't just wearing what he wore all day. She had never left his mind since they met. He wanted to make a good impression on her. He ended up deciding to go with a nice pair of dark denim jeans and a button up the front dress shirt, neatly tucked in at th waist.
His hands were shaking as he approached her house. Pull it together Stone! He mentally chastised himself for his neurotic behavior. It amazed him how much more worried he was about this date going well than any other he had been on. He used to be confident around the girls, back at his old school at least. But that was when he was confident in hiimself too. He slowly knocked on the front door, suddenly realizing he shoud have gotten flowers or something. He had the entire night planned out, and hoped that at least something of it would be to Isabelle's liking.
Leo wasn't expecting a man to open the door but assumed it must be her father. He put on his best 'I'm a good boy' smile, hoping to make a good impression on him. Before he even had a chance to introduce himself and state that he hoped to take out Isabelle, the man looked at him with almost fear in his eyes and then walked away mumbling something to his daughter about not being out late. It was then that Leo looked at her, at the bottom of the stairs walking towards him in a yellow sundress with white polka dots. She was stunning. Just being in the same room as her suddenly made him feel a lot more at ease, seeing that she was alright and that she was still going out with him. But something about her looked nervous herself, or even a little afraid until her father was out of the room.
"Hi...you look great" He greeted her with a smile after realizing he had been staring, something that had become a habit for him. He heard her soft comment, wondering if she had meant him to or not. It made him smile hearing that he was at least useful for something, even if it was oddly enough making her father run in the other direction. "I can be here anytime you want me to..." He said softly.

Isabelle blushed a bit at his compliment. Although she had heard so many of them from the moment they first met, it still just didn’t seem normal. After all, her father never called her beautiful, pretty, not even smart. If it was a positive name calling, it never happened. What she was use to was hearing how dumb she was, how she looked too much like her mother, how her voice made him sick. Yeah. That was more like it. Being a straight A student apparently didn’t make her smart, being invited to model in Brazil, never made her prettier in his eyes. There was no making that man happy, unless she was miserable.
“In that case I’m moving you into my closet,” she said not thinking. She laughed but stopped mid chuckle to look up at him. A bewildered expression, “you heard me?” she asked. It was obvious to her that her tone was too low for him to hear, that’s why she’d said It that way. But he’d heard, like he had satellites for ears or something. Her attention automatically drifted to his ears, and to her astonishment they weren’t abnormally large, like she’d half expected. They were normal if not small.
Isabelle smiled, he was different. Like a super hero or something. He was there to help her when she almost took a spill, he heard things that were barely whispers. The pretty girl laughed at her thoughts. He wasn’t a hero, he was just a normal teenager like she was. He just happened to be strong and lean, and handsome, and sweet, and, Isabelle forced her eyes to the ground. Perfect she was staring at him. She only hoped she hadn’t spoken her thoughts aloud.
Isabelle listened to the sound of her little heels instead as they clicked along the pavement. “So, um,” she paused, “where are we going? Am I dressed okay?” she asked a bit nervously. It seemed what she was wearing appropriate attire according to his own. But, the butterflies were playing crash dummy again in her stomach. She wanted to swat them away, so she focused on the ground instead.

Leo let out a laugh as she mentioned moving him into her closet. "I've got no objections to that, just toss me in a pillow and some food every so often, I'll be good" He told her with a grin. He really didnt think he would mind living in her closet. It would let him spend more time with her. Even though he knew that she was joking it still was a thought that exhilerated him.
He then witnessed her complete confusion at the fact that he had heard her. It made him worry that it was another part of his weirdness factor. He did have much better senses after he started becoming a freak. "Yeah I heard it...was I not supposed to?" He said giving her an apologetic look. "Got good hearing I guess"
Leo looked to the ground feeling awkward and hoping that he wasn't already giving away how much he didnt fit in with normal people anymore. He then smiled as she asked him about their date and if she was dressed appropriated. "Yeah, you look great and that's perfect...do you happen to have a swimsuit under that...you'll need one for later this evening" He told her.
"I've got a couple things planned, I hope you don't mind" He said, starting to explain what he had in mind. If she didnt like any of it, he'd change it to make her happy. "I thought we can maybe start with a movie, and dinner if you havent eaten yet...and then afterwards, maybe go to this little hot spring I found off in the woods.."

Isabelle giggled at his laughter, the sound lifted her spirits. It was oddly comforting. Why did he have to be so perfect? She was supposed to not trust guys anymore, to look at them as if they were no good abandoners. But, she couldn’t. Every time he spoke every bit of her attention turned to him. Every time he looked at her she wanted to take a picture to make the memory last longer. Eventually, just like Embry did he would get bored of her too. She just hoped that when this one found something better he’d still stick around. Even if it was just a friend.
The girls small white back pack purse bounced on her back with each stride her legs took to keep up with him. They were long for her height, but next to him they seemed almost stubby. “No , it’s ok,” she answered. “I’ll just have to keep that in mind.” She smiled bashfully. She was going to have to remember alright, that he could hear things softer than a whisper. No keeping secrets from dear old Leo, at least not unless she kept them completely in her head.
She skipped lightly as he told her she looked great again. She was proud of her choice. But the question that followed made her look like a deer in headlights. A bathing suit? It was just her luck that she was a crappy liar and a lime green bikini was still in the purse from when she’d geared up weeks ago on her last visit to Brazil. She mentally kicked herself for always being prepared. She tried to hide the blush in her cheeks, letting her hair wisp around her face with the soft breeze. She nodded.
She turned to face him, walking sideways. Criss crossing her legs with each step. They were going to a movie, nice. Dinner, she looked down at her tummy, she knew it would probably growl at her any moment, so as much as she was afraid of trying to fill the butterflies space with food she knew she had to. Hot spring…that was the scary one. She was embarrassed to be clothed let alone in her skimpy Brazilian bikini…here it was considered, well tiny. But if you wore anything larger in Brazil, you stood out like a sore thumb. “Sounds fun,” she said turning back around again.

Leo loved the sound of Issy's giggle. It was so pure. He could practically hear the kindness of her soul in that sound. Even though Isabelle didn't seem angry about his eavesdropping of her quiet thoughts, Leo still felt bad about hearing something that he shouldnt have. "Sorry..." He said softly, smiling at her as she mentioned keeping his hearing in mind. He hoped it wouldnt make her less willing to speak her mind, he liked hearing the everything she had to say. He noticed that she had to walk somewhat fast to keep up with him so he slowed his pace, hoping it would make it more comfortable for her.
Leo smiled as he saw her nod, indicating that she did in fact has a swimsuit with her. He took that as a good sign, that maybe she had anticipated going for a swim, and therefore wouldnt mind it when he took her there. He had to admit he was also looking forward to the chance to see her in a bathing suit. He knew she would look beautiful, she always did.
Leo tried to watch her reaction as he listed off his plans for them for the evening. He wondered if it was what she had expected, or a disappointment. "You sure? Cause if there's something you'd rather do, nothings set in stone.." He told her

Isabelle thought about herself in a bathing suit, alone with a boy. It made her nervous just thinking about it. Her thoughts shifted as she realized he would be half naked too. She looked over at Leo, as if to try to imagine what he would look like in swimming trunks. Her face turned a bright red beneath the copper of her skin. What is if she stared? What if he did? She wished that she could just stop thinking and go with the flow like a normal individual.
“Yeah,” she smiled looking anywhere but at him so he couldn’t see her blushing. “I’m sure. Next time will be my choice,” she said not really noticing what it implied. Her mind was too focused on trying not to think. It was only fair, after all if he had thought this out, as he obviously had, than it was a sweet gesture. She only had one boyfriend and few dates with the same person before Leo. So she trusted he would be better at the whole dating thing than she could ever be.
“Besides,” she admitted, “Didn’t even know we had hot springs here.” Isabelle noticed he had slowed his pace a bit. She smiled and looked to the floor. He was pretty observant she didn’t even have to tell him to slow down. She had to wonder if he played Mr. Perfect for every girl he took out. Her brain was telling her to stand closer, hold his hand, make a move. It seemed to silently promise her with each step she made that he wasn’t like other guys. He would never hurt her. She couldn’t understand where the feeling was coming from. But, she obeyed as much as she could inching closer to him as they walked. Isabelle tried desperately to not make it look obvious.

Leo's heart just about jumped out of his chest as she told him that next time she'd decide on what they'd do. Next time. Their first date was just starting and she was already thinking abut their next date! This was amazing! He had hoped that by the end of the night he'd be able to convince her to think of going out with him again, but she was starting the date thinking that way. Now the pressure was just on him to keep her from changing her mind. He had to make sure that this was the perfect first date.
"I'll hold you to that" Leo told her with a smile. He would in no way force her to live up to her slip of the tongue had it been that, but he did want her to know that he was completely in favor on his end of having many more dates after this one. He knew that she was the one for him. There was no doubt in his mind that this was his soul mate. The one perfect woman in the world for him.
Leo smiled as she mentioned not having known there were hotsprings near here. He was glad that she didnt already know, that it wasn't some place she had been a million times growing up and was bored with. He wanted to show her something new. "I actually just found it a week or so ago. I dont think many people know about it"
He noticed her slowly moving towards her. He hoped that it wasn't just an accident, that she actually felt comfortable with him. He didn't want to be too forward too soon, but took their increasing closeness as a sign that maybe she wouldnt mind him taking her hand. He looked down and slowly took her hand in his, intertwining their fingers. He looked down nervously wondering if he had moved too soon, half waiting for her to slap him.

Isabelle grinned from ear to ear, a small laugh escaping her lips. She was glad she had said it even if she hadn’t realized it. See Murphys law usually made a fool of her. But, she couldn’t seem to do any wrong with Leo around. At least that was the way he tended to act around her. As if she was close to perfect. He was always smiling, and his voice had a strange calming effect over her. She blamed it on the fact that he was the first sweet guy she met over a broken heart. It was then that she noticed the pain that use to linger there was gone.
“Oh.” She nodded. Her voice was soft. “That would make more sense.” She continued walking by his side, the urge to touch him was strange. Like he was a magnet, and she was, her brain fought for something a magnet stuck to, all she came up with was a refrigerator. She giggled inwardly, there had to be something more appealing than a fridge. “I’ve lived here forever,” she admitted, “but I’m often so clueless about my surroundings it’s sad.” She pointed with her thumb back toward her home, “he is extremely protective.” Her eyes glimmer with pain for a split second. Protective wasn’t the right word.
His warm hand wrapped around hers, and she immediately felt at peace. He was a little hot, but her brain felt too foggy to say anything. Maybe it was in her head, but she liked the heat, so that didn’t matter. Her fingers followed his command lacing with his. She looked up at him, her innocence showing through all else. She smiled bashfully and looked to the ground as they walked hand in hand. She needed the contact, and for once, since her mother’s death she felt whole.

Leo watched the small change in her expression as she realized what she had said about a second date. To his extreme happiness she didn't seem to regret the slip of the tongue. She still just seemed purely happy to be with him. It was all he wanted and he hoped he could keep her that happy. He was already nervous about what they'd talk about on their date. What if he didnt have anything interesting to contribute to the conversation? What if he accidently let something slip about being an animal? Or worse, what if he changed in front of her? Extreme emotions seemed to cauase it and right now he was brimming with nervousness over their date. He had never cared so much before about impressing one girl as he did with her.
"I like to go exploring, find the little hidden areas that people overlook. Someplace to go to get away from it all when the beach is too crowded." Leo told her, revealing a bit of his recent nature as a loner. Ever since changing he found it hard to be in big crowds, sure that someone would figure him out. He hoped she wouldnt think it was too odd to want some time to himself. He also hoped that he'd get to take her to these places. He didn't want to be alone with her around. He wanted to spend every waking moment with her.
When she mentioned her father he nodded. He didn't want to speak ill of her father, but he didn't exactly seem friendly with meeting Leo. He supposed if he was protective of her that would explain it. "I dont think he likes me very much"
Leo looked down as Issy received his hand in hers, allowing him to hold her hand. She looked at him with a shy smile and he returned it. As much as he loved the contact he did want to make sure he wasn't rushing her. He was worried about making this perfect and didnt know if Isabelle was the type of girl to tell him if it was too much or to try to shyly go along with it until it was too much. He leaned his head down, keeping his voice soft as he gave her a nervous smile. "Is this okay? Its not too much?" He asked, hoping for her approval.

Isabelle nodded, she understood enjoying alone time. That’s why the beach some time after the sun had gone down was her location of choice. No one would usually be there unless they were holding those parties around the fire, that’s when she’d let herself disappear into the cool darkness of the forest. Of course, Isabelle would never go to deep, afraid of being consumed by the darkness and the trees. But there was a place she often visited when she needed to think, or sing, without being heard. A stump in the center of trees, and above it, a hole in the forest canopy, it allowed for just the right amount of light given off by the twinkling stars above. And, an escape from her home life.
Isabelle laughed when he accused her father of not liking him. It was one of the greatest moments for her in a long time. Leo’s lean figure towering over her stubby father, and the look in his eyes as if he had been defeated, it was something she wished she could re live over and over. Then again if Leo stuck around, maybe she could. “Don’t feel bad,” she smiled at him, “he doesn’t even like me.” She admitted. She knew immediately she should have bit her tongue, but she couldn’t fight the urge to speak only the truth, like he deserved to know for some unclear reason. “I think he was scared of you,” she giggled her smile bright.
She smiled when he did, and giggled when he asked if him holding her hand was okay. Isabelle definitely faulted the filter that told you when to stop yourself from speaking. It was just another reason she often embarrassed herself. “I want you to,” she blurted out. “I mean normally,” she said bashfully, “It would be, but,” she sighed she was beginning to ramble, a bad habit that revealed itself when she was nervous. “I feel safe with you for some crazy reason, and if you can scare my dad away like that all the time than I don’t want you to stop holding my hand.” She admitted. Her eyes went all deer in headlights again, “please feel free to stop me at anytime.” In about 3 seconds she was either going to blow up or run away from embarrassment.

Leo was relieved when Isabelle hadn't given him a strange look when he told her about liking to get away every now and then. It didn't seem like it phased her that he wasn't always the the sociable guy. He wondered if maybe she had her own place like that, somewhere that she liked to go with her thoughts.
"How could he not like you?" Leo said surprised by her comment about her father. Immediately after questioning it, Leo felt that it wasn't his place. He remembered the looks betwen Issy and her father at the house. There was something not right there, he should have picked up on it more earlier. But he knew that he had no right to ask her about something so personal on their first date. He hoped that it wasn't anything too serious, just a little overprotectiveness, but he had the bad feeling that it was more. He saw how happy she seemed by the idea that he had scared her father. He smiled, liking that he was able to get her some peace from her father, even if it was by intimidation. If he was scared of Leo, he was sure all his efforts to impress the man must have been useless. It would probably never happen. But at least he had allowed Leo to take his daughter out.
Leo held his breath as he waited to see if his hand holding had been alright with her. He was so afraid of screwing this one up by doing the wrong thing, but she seemed happy with it! He listened with a smile and a light chuckle as she began rambling on about enjoying it and feeling safe with him. "I wouldn't dare stop you now, its too cute" He told her truthfully. "And I wont stop holding your hand if you dont want me to, and I'll keep scaring your father if that's what you want..though I'm not sure exactly how I did it."

Isabelle smiled at him, still holding her composure on that bit of conversation. She was doing rather well, at least she thought she was. “Um, I don’t know,” she said honestly as she cocked her head to the side. “I think I remind him too much of my mom I guess,” it was the closest thing she could think of as an explanation for his seemingly distaste in her. A little after her moms passing he began to drink, and drink he did. Until he became the full fledge alcoholic he was today. It made her sick, and even more, it hurt. But after so many years she was almost immune to it.
If it weren’t for the fingers being laced perfectly together she may have taken off running. Why did she have to be so…dorky. Anyone else would have been able to stop the word vomit, but not her of course. She was just so blessed. At the sound of his chuckle she could feel the blazing heat in her face, but as if his voice was the cure, it gently calmed her racing thoughts and death metal heart beat. She looked up a little confused. Did he say cute? She didn’t feel cute, she felt stupid. She couldn’t help but crack a nervous smile. “I don’t think you had to do much,” she offered gently, “you’re a pretty big guy,” she smiled. He was tall, really tall, but it fit him. Made him even more exotically beautiful.

Leo listened to Issy's explaination of her reasonings for why she felt her father hated her. Leo hated the idea that she had the need to think about this for long enough to be able to come up with a reasoning so quickly. It had to mean that this had been an issue for her for awhile. Leo felt a sudden surge of disgust towards the man, even though he hardly knew him, and felt extremely protective over Isabelle. When he heard her mention her mother he knew this had to be something personal, and probably an area that he should not be prying into and forcing her to talk about if she wasnt ready.
"I'm sorry...I probably shouldnt have asked" Leo gave a nervous laugh, feeling like already he was ruining this date. "Believe it or not I'm usually better than this."
Leo looked down, seeing her hand still firmly in his gave him a sense of calm. She was still here, not pulling away, not running. When his eyes made their way from their hands back up to her face he saw her confused look as he had called her cute. Didnt see see herself that way? He thought she was adorable. Beautiful. Stunning. Super-Duper-Fantastic-Amazing-Incredible-Perfectlicious Scrumptable. There were not even words to describe her properly. He smiled as he called her a big guy. He liked the idea of her thinking of him that way, someone big and strong. He hoped that was what girls wanted. He gave a smile "I guess I am, just as long as that doesnt bother you"

Isabelle smiled at the ground before looking up. “No need to apologize, you can ask me anything, I just don’t seem to ever have many good answers,” she said in a hushed tone. It was the truth she never knew what to say and when her voice handed her over to impulse she always managed to feel like an idiot. She just couldn’t win. She laughed when he said he was usually better at this, she didn’t think he was doing bad, and so it made her wonder.
“Better? What are you trying to sweep me off my feet or something?”She joked still unable to look him in the eye, “I slip pretty easily just add water” she giggled, “You’re a witness to that.” She pushed a strand of chestnut brown curls behind her ear with the free hand. She didn’t know where the spark of courage to say something like that came from, but she felt proud and wished whatever caused it would stick around. She was slowly beginning to realize the effect Leo had on her, and she wanted to slap herself for it. She couldn’t figure out why she was putting her feelings on the line again, or why she even felt this way so soon.
She giggled, and looked toward the direction they were walking in. She contemplated whether there were any bruises on her that could raise questioning when she put on a bathing suit. Isabelle sided with no, luckily the last time she ‘fell’ was roughly a week ago, and she had the odd feeling the more she kept Leo around, the less the occurrences. She squeezed his hand, “sorry, got a chill,” she said looking down again. It was a little cool, but nowhere near cool enough to give her chills.
