"No your answers are fine, really. My questions just need improving" Leo said, thinking he needed to think of more appropriate first date conversation. He was glad that she didnt mind sharing personal information with him. He wanted to know everything, the good and the bad. He just hoped he could bring enough good to this date that she'd be willing to see him again and not have too many uncomfortable moments throughout it.
Leo smiled a bit embarrassed as she asked him if he was trying to sweep her off her feet. "Well actually...yeah, I was hoping to, but I dont think I'm doing well so far, but thats ok, I dont give up easily" He told her with a grin laughing as she mentioned just adding water. "Why do you think I'm taking you to the hot spring?" He joked, nudging into her gently with his upper arm, but keeping his hand in hers.
When she squeezed his hand he was thrilled at the increased contact but when he looked over her eyes were averted. Was she just shy about it, or had it been a sign she was really uncomfortable. She blamed it on a chill but he didnt feel anything, then again he rarely felt cold anymore, and was much more tolerant of any cold temperatures. "You okay?" he asked her softly.

She laughed when he suggested that his questions needed improving she’d never heard that one before. Isabelle was finally beginning to notice that Leo more than she expected to uncover. He wasn’t picking on her, he was no Mr. Popular despite his devilish good looks. She couldn’t imagine him being any more sweet either, and the fact he seemed to be off his game to himself it only made her wonder how he could be. Or for that matter how many dates he’d been on.
Isabelle looked up at him in shock. She wouldn’t have thought he’d admit his attempts even if they were true, but he had. She smiled sheepishly in response and bit her lower lip twirling a strand of her chestnut brow hair around her finger. She giggled when he nudged her and said he didn’t give up easily. She wished she had his confidence.
“Huh?” she asked turning back to face him. “Oh sorry, I’m fine,” she smiled. “How far is it?” she inquired. “Not that I mind walking,” Isabelle added hurriedly. She really didn’t, Issy had the odd feeling she could stay near him for always and never worry about a thing. She pondered silently, listening to the sound of her feet as she walked. She couldn’t help but notice that she seemed to make more noise than he did. Heels and all he was expected to, but something about it made her actually stare at his feet. As if waiting for the sound to get louder.

Leo saw the shock on Isabelle’s face as he told her that yes he was in fact trying to sweep her off her feet. He knew he must look like an idiot now. Why was he acting like this? He was usually rather good with girls. He always knew the right thing to say, how to behave normally. Or at least he did before he became a freakazoid who apparently was losing social functions as a human along with his other strange features. But instead of looking at Leo disgusted now as she knew how desperate he sounded, she smiled. It appeared she didn’t mind his odd openness. Leo smiled as he heard her giggle at his nudge. He knew he had thought this before, but it really was a beautiful sound.
“Well we’re not too far from the movie place and diner if you want to head there first” Leo asked, not sure how hungry she was. “Or if you’d rather we can go to the springs first, its just about ten minutes walk that way” He said pointing to the right. “Are you cold at all?” He asked, wanting to make sure that she was comfortable.

Isabelle kept the smile as she continued to stare down at his feet. She wished she could be even remotely close to having that kind of grace. Her small heels clicked loudly against the pavement, a nice contrast to his near quiet footsteps. She let her eyes wander past his shoes toward the direction their bodies currently faced, breathing in the cool night air. Though most of her exposed flesh felt the soft bite of the night breeze her hand felt none. Her hand in his own was like wearing a heated glove.
‘Dinner,’ she repeated mentally. Although she was much more calm than she ever thought she could be on a first date the butterflies were still zipping around in her insides. Food didn’t sound like the greatest idea at the moment. But if he was hungry she couldn’t be selfish.
She turned her head to the direction of the hot springs. Dreading wearing a bathing suit in front of him just as much as she feared chewing like a cow, or appearing to have an eating disorder at her lack of appetite.
Isabelle nodded in response to his last question, thankful for the redirection of her thoughts. She tended to be little miss indecisive, which is why even with Quil eenie meanie miney moe came in handy. But she couldn’t reveal such an example of her dorkdom, not now. It was too early into a relationship let alone a date to reveal her less appealing dorky nature in its entirety. “Um, which are you more up for?” she asked looking up at him her long eyelashes bordering her emerald eyes full of curiosity.

Leo listened to the clicking of her heels breaking the silence between them as they thought over their options. He had thought he had things all planned out so they wouldn’t have to be wandering aimlessly but now it seemed that very well could be what would happen. He was already thinking that this date was going to end up disastrous. Maybe they would have been better off doing something else.
When he saw her turn her head in the direction of the springs he wondered if that was her choice or the one she was dreading. Maybe she didn’t like his idea afterall. And now she was also nodding that she was feeling a little cold. He wished he had remembered to wear a jacket. He never got a chill lately and was always running outside without a coat on, but it would have been the perfect opportunity for him to be a gentleman and offer Issy his coat. “Either place we end up should be warmer, either inside or the warmth of the springs”
When she asked him which he was more in the mood for he wondered what the good answer was. He was always hungry, so dinner was always fine with him, but if she wasn’t in the mood yet, he’d rather do something she’d enjoy more. Maybe a movie would help to break the ice and give them something to talk about later, but then they’d just be sitting in silence the next two hours and missing a chance to talk to her until the movie finished. The springs was a unique idea but not the typical date, and maybe it was a little too out of the ordinary and should be saved for later or thrown out completely. “Umm…I could go for any of it…whatever you prefer”

Isabelle nodded, either place should be warmer. And, if it wasn’t she would only pretend that she could no longer feel the chill. No need in sounding whiny, after all Forks was a rather chilly place for the most part, it was about time she got used to it. She bit lightly on her lower lip, wondering which would be the best choice for both of them. Without thought she looked to where their hands were settled between them, her smaller hand laced with his. A small smile formed, and lingered even after she looked back towards their current path.
Just as she dreaded, he couldn’t make up his mind either. Isabelle tilted her head slightly, wondering if maybe he were more like her than she had originally thought. “Um,” she started before instantly sorting through the options in her head. Hot Springs weren’t too far according to him, and she always loved nature. Food sounded good, despite the butterflies in her stomach making attempts to sabotage the idea. The stomach seemed to be their domain, she wondered how long that would last. She looked up to face him.
“Maybe this is a horrible idea, maybe not,” she half laughed and continued, “maybe we could pick up something to eat, and bring it back to the hot springs?” she suggested. It was a mesh of two out of the three options, he was bound to like one, so maybe this would suffice. “I mean, if I had a portable DVD player we could do all three at the same time.” She laughed and looked away, “sorry, I’m indecisive.” she admitted reluctantly.

Leo wished that he had a car to pick her up in. If he had a car, he could turn on the heat to make her more comfortable. Plus she wouldn’t have to walk in the heels. He didn’t want her feet to get sore or her to be uncomfortable. He knew he’d be glad to put his arms around her, give her some of his extra warmth or carry her to any of their destinations but on a first date he didn’t see how that would be possible. He was just still trying to get her to like him. He didn’t know how he knew it, but he was sure he’d never feel the way he felt about Issy about any other girl. He’d never had those sparks before. Now he had to try to impress her.
He wished he had been more decisive as he saw her struggling with deciding what they should do. Girls liked guys who took charge and were confident. The guys who always knew the right thing to do or say. But yet here he was just wanting to make her happy. He was too afraid of making any decision for fear it would be the wrong one for her. He never acted this sappy around a girl before. It wasn’t normal. But neither was he.
Leo listened to her suggestion of picking up food to bring with them to the hot springs. “That’s a great idea!” He said, eagerly agreeing. He knew he should have been able to come up with something like that on his own. He laughed lightly as she admitted her indecisiveness. “I think that’s something we have in common. “ He told her, lightly squeezing the hand he held in his own.

Isabelle smiled when he said it was a great idea. The smile only lingered as he mentioned they shared something in common. She was starting to wonder if maybe this whole thing wasn’t too good to be true. “So,” she began timidly, “ I chose the activity, you choose the food.” she looked to her toes that she had painted with clear nail polish earlier that day. They shined in the light.
She looked back up toward the direction they were walking in but her attention was easily taken by the flock of birds that seemed to be congregating along the wires and light poles. Dusting the trees with black feathers. They were silent but beautiful as they flew together in intervals like a swarm of choreographed bees. “Ever wonder what it would be like to be a bird?” She asked him, still looking to the sky.
“If you could be an animal what would you be?” She asked finally turning her attention to him. She blushed lightly. “Sorry odd question.”

Leo enjoyed watching Issy smile as he told her how they had something in common, even if it was only indecisiveness. He knew it probably wasn't a very attractive trait for him to have as the guy, but he did enjoy having something else that he knew the two of them shared. She told him to choose the food and his anxiety rose again, worrying he'd pick something that she hated. "Um...Do you like Chinese? That's pretty easy to get take-out..." He suggested, knowing there was a place not much farther that they could get the food at so she wouldn't have to walk too much in the heels.
He saw her looking up towards the sky and turned to follow her eyesight, wondering what she was looking at, then seeing the birds as she asked him if he ever wondered what it would be like to be a bird. "I guess it'd be cool to fly" He said starting to feel uneasy about where this conversation was headed. Did she suspect that something was off with him? Was that why she was asking these questions? She knew he was part beast?
He turned his head to the side, looking away for a moment as she asked what animal he'd want to be. "Human" He said lightly, almost under his breath. He knew he was being rude and turned to her as she apologized, giving her a small smile not wanting her to feel bad about asking him anything. "Odd's fine" He assured her. "I guess bird wouldn't be bad to see everything from so high, travel quickly..but I think I'd need something bigger, birds are too vulnerable once they land...maybe a big cat...or a dog...or a wolf" He said feeling his anxiety increasing wondering if he was saying too much already. If she didn't know he might be giving her ideas. "What animal would you want to be?"

Isabelle nodded, “Chinese sounds good, I like the fortune cookies, they have an oddly sweet taste I never can seem to duplicate,” she admitted. Here she was again, rambling. It was truly odd the feeling she got when she was near to Leo, like she could be who she was, without trying or hiding. It was like being around an old friend, like Quil except she’d never been attracted to Quil. And, even as a child he never gave her the butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling that Leo did.
Not even a half hour into their date and she was making a fool of herself. To be honest she’d expected it none the less.
Isabelle could have sworn she heard him say ‘human’ as his animal of choice. But she dismissed it, that would be a silly thing to say. Instead she listened to the sound of her small heels clacking against the pavement. She listened as he spoke, after all Isabelle had always been enthralled by nature and animals. Something she was sure she had gotten from her mother. Luna had always loved animals and nature. Sometimes it seemed like her mother would be more fit living in a tent in the woods than in a home.
‘Vulnerable’ that word stuck out. She felt that way all the time when her father was home. She smiled when he said wolf though. Her mom had a small obsession with wolves that seemed to pass down to Issy.
“I think I’d be a bear,” she told him. She wouldn’t admit that wolf would have been her first choice, she didn’t want to seem like a copy cat. “Or something people knew not to mess with, you know? Something that could hold its own in a fight.” She said. She didn’t even stop to think how odd it might sound that she was saying such things. It was the truth to his question.

"Do you bake?" Leo asked her as she mentioned never being able to duplicate the taste of fortune cookies, wondering if she had attempted to make them before. "They are good...and the fortunes can be nice, usually they have an upside to them, not like 'you're going to trip over a rock' " He joked, wishing he could keep himself from rambling quite so much, but he felt so nervous about doing things right with her.
Leo wished he hadn't said human, even quietly, fearing that it would just highlight to her how much he wasn't. She would notice something was off with him, or at least think he was insane for not already thinking he was human (which was a theory he was still debating himself). But he was sure in that one instant he'd probably blown the whole date. But as stupid as he felt she didnt turn to go back home or look disgusted but listened to his other answer. Her smile as he mentioned Wolf caught him off guard. It was the one true answer and she seemed almost like she liked that answer.
"I think you'd be more agile than a bear...you're too tiny" He told her with a smile, hoping she took it as a compliment and not an insult, desperately trying to please her. He found himself aching for her to be like him, so they could run off into the woods together. But he knew it was a foolish thought. He nodded as she said something people wouldn't mess with. "Yeah, I think that's smart"
