Jared smiled as her questions rattled on. He didn’t mind one bit, he’d tell her whatever she wanted to know. Even if it embarrassed him. He silently wondered if he should answer some unanswered questions on his own, or if she would feel better asking. But, it was like she could hear his thoughts as she apologized. She didn’t need to but that was Kim, and he loved her for it.
“No, don’t apologize.” He smiled as he lifted her chin up gently so their eyes could meet again. “I’ll tell you anything and everything you want to know. Its your right.” he smiled sheepishly. “As for the first question,” he said and gave her a kiss on the cheek and taking his fingers away from her chin, “I first phased about four and a half to five months ago. And it doesn’t really hurt so much as feel really strange. Kind of like a burning, bubbling feeling,” he tried to explain but laughed realizing it sounded painful and odd.
“But the extra abilities are pretty cool,” he admitted looking at the hand he had injured earlier that day. There wasn’t even a mark where he had cut his hand with a kitchen knife. Cooking was tougher than it looked, he had to give his mom more credit. His expression became a little more sullen when she asked if they were nearby. The tone of her voice seemed a little frightened. He immediately wondered if it was because animals picked up on those kind of things, or just cause she was his soul mate.
“Yeah, Forks,” he said more lightly than one normally would. It didn’t bother him as long as they abided by the treaty. “But they won’t come any where near you or the Rez,” he promised. “They can’t its against the treaty, and that’s what we were made for,” he smirked. She had no idea what he was capable of. But, he was glad he could finally reveal that part of himself.
As Jared kissed her hair and verbalized his apologies he was surprised to hear her rebuttal. He chuckled lightly into her hair. “ Angel, I’m a monster,” his tone was soft, “Monsters don’t usually get the girl.” he pulled away a little and smiled down at her.

Kim smiled up appreciatively at Jared as he told her that he'd tell her anything she wanted to know. He was so patient with her, despite the fact that she was so clueless right now and was probably asking questions that seemed a bit absurd to him right now. Despite him saying it, she didn't feel like she had the right to question him this way. He was trying to open up himself to her, and she didn't want him to regret it because she had decided to start grilling him on it. She didn't have any superpowers, she didn't even know if she still fit into his world.
She listened as he explained when he had first phased (as he had called it). She was surprised at the timing. It was just a little before they had started dating. Even after he had realized that she was no where near as good as him, he still asked her out? It surprised her that he hadn't waiting to find someone stronger and more special like himself. She then frowned slightly as he told her it didn't hurt but that it felt like a burning and bubbling feeling. "That sounds like it would hurt..." She said, fearing that he had put himself through that pain moments earlier just to show her. Even more she felt guilty because she wanted to see it again.
"What kind of extra abilities...besides the obvious change in appearance" She asked him, wondering what else he could do besides turn into the giant wolf, and the extra heat that he had. "Can you talk when you're...phased?" She asked him, thinking it sounded like a stupid question and hoping he wouldn't be insulted by her asking him about if he was able to talk, but she remembered the only noise the wolf before her had made was a whimper, although maybe he was just too afraid of scaring her off if the giant wolf had started calling her name.
She was still just as frightened to hear that the vampires were as close as Forks. She went there a lot, how had she not noticed? "The treaty from the legend...that's true?" She asked, not liking the next part, hearing that it was what he was made for. Keeping vampires away was too dangerous. Kim hated thinking that Jared had to be any part of that, risking his own safety. "They haven't hurt you have they?"
Kim was looking into his eyes as he tried to tell her he was a monster who wasn't supposed to get the girl. Was that really how he saw himself? She shook her head quickly, not wanting him to think for a moment that she thought he was a monster. "You're not a monster...I think you're beautiful"

Jared couldn’t help but smile around her. She was his beacon of hope, his light in the darkness. The only positive thing that had come from the whole experience was that somehow it forced him to see the love he could possibly feel for another person, for her. If it wasn’t for the transformation it may have taken a lot longer to realize that his soul mate was right under his nose the whole time. His own lab partner was the epitome of his own existence. A normal teenage guy may not have seen it so clearly and fully.
“I promise,” he laughed, “maybe I’m just not that great at explanations.” He admitted shaking his head. He sucked! How was he supposed to tell her there was still another secret to tell, they weren’t even finished with the first. For a moment he thought of maybe telling Kim at another time, but he thought better of it. It made no sense worrying her over something that was actually not all that bad. The issue was wording it the right way. What if the love she had faded one day? He was going to need to ask the elders more questions about the phenomenon that was imprinting.
Jared smiled, the abilities was actually more so the fun part. “I’m stronger than I look, or act like I am, I heal really fast,” he admitted smiling still. He put on the movie guy voice as he continued, “Faster than a speeding bullet, Jet Li reflexes,” his voice was normal again now, “and I protect people for the most part.” He smiled innocently at her. It sounded like a hero’s role, but he had to admit, if only to himself, that he felt nothing like a hero should. But, maybe it would just take more getting use to.
He nodded when she asked if he could talk. “Yeah we can talk, but only to each other in our wolf forms. You’d probably just hear wolf speak, like barks or something.” He admitted frowning slightly. The mental picture of him trying to say I love you as a wolf only made him think of Scooby Doo.
Jared frowned deeper as she asked about the treaty. He didn’t want her being afraid, she didn’t have to be. He would always keep her safe. He owed her that much for being his angel. He shook his head, “No they haven’t hurt me the ones in Forks claim to be vegetarians or something like that. They only hunt animals.” His eyes met hers, the chocolate brown melting with her gaze. “They won’t hurt anyone, and especially not me.” He promised. “We were made to fight them, that is the reason for our double lives existence, like I said, I’m stronger than you could imagine.”
He laughed lightly and kissed her deeper than he had before, as if showing his passion for her could show he wasn’t only the soft Jared she knew. He ran his fingers into her hair shifting himself so their bodies could be closer. He slowed the kiss to a stop, returning to his gentle loving composure and hugged her close, almost pulling her onto his lap like a child. She was so much smaller than himself, it always reminded him to be more soft. “You’re absolutely gorgeous, and the most amazing girl I have ever met and ever will.”

Kim shook her head as Jared stated that perhaps his explainations were a little lacking. He was doing a great job considering the confusing, and sensitive nature of what he was trying to tell her. The way he had it all planned out, she really thought it was the perfect way to learn it. She only wished she had figured out sooner what it was that he was trying to tell her. "No, you're doing fine...i'm just a little slow I guess" She said, embarrassed by how dense she had been.
Kim grinned as she watched how happy he looked when he described the superhero type powers that he had. It was beyond amazing all of the things he was capable of. "You're like superman..my own personal hero" She said softly smiling up at him. There was a sense of awe in her voice and her eyes as she looked at him.
Kim nodded listening to him explain how he could talk to the others, but that it probably wouldnt sound like more than barks or whines to her. It made sense she supposed. But it also gave her more information on what it was life for him when he was like that. "So if you can talk...then still know what you're thinking...its not like you black out and become completely instinctual..." She aid, kind of in a questioning way, wondering if this was where his control problem was, whether he still had control over his actions or not, but feeling she was being too insensitive about it. "I'm sorry...that came out wrong I think..."
She looked down, embarrassed by both her thoughts and the fact she had allowed herself to tell them to him. She did so much better when she was quieter. She made less of a fool of herself. But so far nothing had seemed to upset Jared that she did. She listened to him continuing to explain about the treaty and how the vampires that were here were vegetarians, eating only animals (although Kim had always thought vegetarians at vegetables, she didn't question it). She was relieved though to hear that they didnt seem to be a danger to them, though she still didnt like the idea that he was made for fighting them, as if that was in the foreseeable future.
His next move caught Kim off guard, but she was pleasantly surprised by his passionate kiss. She allowed herself to be swept up in the emotion, returning the kiss eagerly. As their kiss broke and he hugged her, Kim felt herself moving closer to his body automatically, seeking the comfort and warmth there. Kim rested her head against his chest for a moment, listening to his heart beat. As happy as she was right now, she was also feeling incredibly emotional, especially after she heard his compliments, which she felt unworthy of. She had seen the looks people at school gave her when she was with Jared, all of them questioning what he could possibly see in her, and they didnt even know the extent of how great he was. He was like a heavenly creature. "With everything you've seen and all you can do...I dont even know how you can look at me and see anything but plain and boring...thats all anyone else sees"

Jared smiled at her, she wasn’t really that slow, the information he was providing her with just seemed to take a lot of thought. Her being slow sounded like an oxy moron. If it weren’t for her brain, he would totally be flunking Chemistry. All the beakers, chemical charts, and Bunsen burners just seemed way too pointless and time consuming. His memory didn’t work well with the made up codes of numbers and letters.
He chuckled when she called him a hero, her hero. If that was what she seen him as, he was completely content with that. “Yeah just think of me as a furry super man,” he winked. The only other hero’s he could think of that could be considered within his category was the thunder cats, but they wore speedo looking things. That was lame, and he wasn’t really a fan since child hood. Cats felt more like enemies now, which reminded him that Kim had chosen dogs over cats moments ago. It made him smile.
With the guys Jared seemed to be more low key, but when Kim was around he couldn’t fight the urge of trying to make her smile. It almost surprised him that he could actually be considered funny. To Sam, and now Paul he was usually the more quiet perceptive one. He bit his lip as he thought of the correct way to string the words together for an answer. “The problem isn’t when I’m phased,” he began and gave a slight pause, “ Its right before the change. Like that transformation stage where I go from man to wolf,” he nodded. “Since the change happened, its harder to control strong emotions, but I’ve got a handle on it now,” he promised.
He smiled and squeezed her gently in his large arms. “No need to apologize, I understood what ya meant.” He kissed her hair and played idly with it, remembering the day of the imprint. The emotions that ran through him, the calm, the dream like state. He looked silently looked to the stars and thanked them for sending him his angel.
Jared spoke to the top of her head, not wanting her to feel uncomfortable. “No one else sees you because they don’t try, and with you being so shy angel they don’t think twice about their actions.” he admitted. “But I think your beautiful, smart, sweet, and the best thing that’s happened to me. Which leads me to the very last secret, a sort of confession, but you can still feel free to ask questions about the wolf thing too,” he added. He unlocked his arms from around her small frame and leaned back a little to see her face. She was just as beautiful as ever, still glowing. He kissed her delicately on the forehead.

Kim smiled as Jared told her that she could think of him as a furry superman. "Fur is much more masculine than tights anyway" She told him with a small grin as she suddenly pictured the wolf that had been out here wearing tights and a cape. No, that would look too ridiculous. She actually was finding herself enjoying the though that her boyfriend was a superhero, that he had this secret identity that he had decided to share with her. She felt honored that he had decided to open up to her. She decided to voice her thoughts once more, wanting to show her appreciation. "Thank you for telling me...and showing me"
Kim listened to him describe the control problem he had and how it was tied to strong emotions but that he could control himself once phased. She couldn't even imagine how hard this must be on him, to need to keep his emotions controlled so that he didn't change at the wrong time. She nodded believing him as he told her he had a handle on it now. She trusted him completely, even if he told her he was still having trouble with strong emotions, she had complete trust in him.
Kim smiled lightly as he told her he understood what she had meant. Even with her very poorly misphrased questions they still didnt seem to bother him. He was completely understanding with her and seemed to know into her soul that her intent hadnt been mean, that she was just still struggling with finding the words to describe the phenomenon that Jared had introduced into her life.
Kim smiled, her head still against his chest as Jared described the way he saw her. She had always heard that the person who you loved would see you in a way no one else did, and it seemed true with Jared, but it still surpised her hearing someone as perfect as Jared say those words about her, even after everything that had happened tonight. Her smile started to fade however when he told her he had another secret to tell her. She backed away slightly so that she could look at him as he spoke. She was confused about what else there could possibly be. Even though the other secrets had ended up being good in her mind, she didn't know if she could take another surprise right now, it was all so much. "There's more?" She asked, hoping he hadn't saved the worst one for last.

Jaredchuckled as she mentioned fur being more masculine than tights. He hadn’t thought of it that way, but he liked the fact that she did. He almost huffed as she thanked him for revealing himself, his secret. Jared couldn’t believe she was thanking him, all of her reactions seemed to be better than he could have dreamed of them being. The only difference was she never stepped away from him, even if it was just a reflex. If anything it fueled the want and need to keep her out of harms way, including safe from himself.
“Thank you for giving me the chance,” he said barely above a whisper. “I promise I wont let you ever regret it,” he smiled. It was the truth, he didn’t care if he one day ran out of romantic ideas to sweep her off her feet. For Kim he would do anything to make her smile, and to assure that she would always feel this was about him. He knew all that he felt for her would never dissipate, never lessen.
She no longer held the mesmerizing smile that always made him feel like his heart was going to stop any moment. Unworthy of her love and attention. He nodded. “I’d like to think you may see this one as not being as bad as the wolf thing, but its also a part of it.” he said with a sheepish smile. “And if you have any questions I know of only one other person that you can talk to, but I know they” he said thinking of Emily and Sam, “would help you to make sense of it if I’m no good at it.”
Jared licked his lips before he began, he took her hands in his again. “Okay so this is gonna’ sound a little strange, let me know when you need me to stop.” he said pausing to look her in the eye. He had to make sure she wasn’t completely uncomfortable about the words he had to say. “Did you feel anything odd, or different toward me when we started dating?” he asked and shook his head. “Well, you have a role in this warped fairytale I call my life. You are what the elders would call an imprintee,” he smiled at least it didn’t sound as bad as werewolf. “When a man…I mean when a werewolf imprints he is instantaneously bound to his found soul mate. You, you’re my soul mate, and I could never in a million years ever hurt you, cause you pain, make you grieve. I will never leave your side, unless you ask me to.” he said and took a deep breath. He couldn’t help but smile through his nervous tension. It sounded like a proposal, he was really going to have to out due himself for that one.

Kim smiled as Jared thanked her for giving him the chance to explain, telling her she'd never regret it. She knew that she'd never regret it. She could never regret giving him the opportunity to open himself up to her, to learn more about the man that she was head over heels in love with. He could tell her anything and she'd be glad to listen. She wanted to know everything about him.
She tried not to look as confused or worried as she had earlier when he spoke about this last secret that he had saying it wasn't as bad as the wolf part. She didn't want him to think she saw that as a horrible secret or something she wouldn't be able to accept. It was a part of him. "Jared, I dont think the wolf thing is bad... She said trying to be as supportive as possible. "it just might take awhile to get used to"
Kim tried to keep an open mind as he started talking again, seeing that he was still struggling with it. Kim gently squeezed his hands as he looked down, hoping to give him just some small sign that she could handle this and he could tell her anything. Her expression however immediately turned to confusion as he asked if she had felt anything when they first started dating. She had been ecstatic when they started dating. She had gotten the guy who she had been crushing after to ask her out, what girl wouldn't be thrilled at that prospect, but when he went on she wasn't sure if that was what he had meant at all. The whole concept of imprinting that he was explaining to her didn't make much sense. He was calling her his soul mate, which she normally would have been overjoyed about but there was a feeling of worry in her. What if he was wrong? What if it wasn't her, she didn't think she had any place in this world of his. The thought that this was all a mistake terrified her, even as he told her he'd never leave her unless she wanted him to. She wanted to believe that they really were soulmates. She knew she'd never find someone she felt stronger about than she did him, but she didn't think it was possible for Jared to feel that strongly.
"I dont understand..." Kim told him honestly. "There's nothing...different about me. I'm not an imprintee..." She said, hating to admit it to him, assuming it was something she would have known if she was, like he knew he was a werewolf. She didn't want to push him away, or sound like she was rejecting the idea of staying with him, but the idea of imprinting wasn't making sense to her yet.

The smile that Jared had grown to adore was back and bright as ever. When she felt happiness he felt it just as strongly. And if he didn’t he only needed to look her in the eye once to have it fill him instantly. He knew it from that day in Chemistry when they were reassigned due to his lab partners leaving. Usually he just slept during that class, but that day was one he could never forget. That fuzzy mind numbing sensation that clogged his brain would forever live in his memory, and hopefully in hers.
“You don’t?” he asked before she could finish. This time he was the one that looked baffled. She was willing to accept all of it, and so easily. He couldn’t have asked for a better night, a better girlfriend, better yet a soul mate. He smiled like a boy on Christmas morning. The dread he felt was almost all gone. Now he just hoped he’d explained imprintation right, or he was royally screwed.
It began well, she looked like she understood completely, but the expression slowly morphed. His own smile faded slightly, he wished he could be more romantic. More Suave, to know the right things to say in times like these. He mentally kicked himself for depending on his popularity and good looks for so long. If he was better in school, he could have wrote her poem to explain, or been able to come up with the sweetest and greatest things to say in a situation like this. For once, he was unprepared.
Jared smiled once more when she denied being his imprintee. If there was one thing he was aware of, it was that. The way he felt for her was inhuman, and it was the only explanation according to Sam and the elders. “No,” he began. “You are, and you’re very different. Imagine being shot by oh I don’t know, Cupid, but the feeling of pure unadulterated love is the effect that will last forever.” He laughed, he doubted this description would help any but it was the best he felt he could do. “Well that’s what some wolves are gifted with…a soul mate. And by the way I feel inside, I know,” he said giving her a kiss on her cheek, “ that you are mine.” he smiled before kissing the other cheek. “Does that make any more sense?” he asked, hopeful.

Despite Kim's fear that she was only here now as part of some big mistake where Jared believed her to be something she wasnt she tried to understand as he continued attempting to explain imprinting to her. Jared seemed so absolutely sure of himself and of her role in all of this. Jared always had more confidence in things than she did so it wasn't a surprise, but she couldn't shake the thought that this was just temporary and that in a few months he could bee feeling this strongly about someone else.
"Jared, I felt like I was shot by cupid the first day I laid eyes on you" Kim admitted to him. She had very quickly developed her crush on him. But what he was talking about now seemed like so much more than a crush.
"What if it doesnt last forever..what if you find someone else, imprint on them, someone who knows it..." Kim said, thinking whoever the soulmate of a werewolf was must be someone special and probably had powers of their own. And even if it had happened with her, what was to say he couldn't do it again?
Kim smiled lightly as Jared kissed her cheek telling her that she was his soulmate once more. She wished she could take comfort in his words right now but was just feeling overwhelmed by everything. "What did you do to imprint on me? You said it was when we started dating...did you and the elders do some ritual or something, is that how you're sure?" She said trying to understand but feeling like she still wasn't getting it.

Jared’s eyebrow rose at her confession. “You what?” he asked squeezing her lightly in his arms. “And you didn’t tell me why?” If Kim hadn’t been so shy it was quite possible that what they had may have began before he was a beast. Not that you had to be too obvious to win his attention he was a perceptive guy, but certain cheerleaders had a more verbal approach that forced his attention whether or not he was willing to give it.
He smiled at Kim, she was so innocent, pure, his angel, the anchor that kept him sane through all the world was throwing at him.
Jareds grin faded for only a second as he let out a small chuckle. “Imprinting only happens once in a life time, baby. You’re kind of it,” he said as the frown set in, “unless you don’t want all of this.” Jared motioned with a whirl of his finger. There was a lot she had to agree to, unfortunately he couldn’t just hope she’d take him and be done with it. He needed her acceptance for everything else he had showed her, and Jared wasn’t sure what girl would want that.
He couldn’t hold back the laughter now, it erupted from within him. “I’m sorry,” he apologized not meaning to laugh at her. It really was a rather good question, what with all else that enveloped him and who or what he now was. “I don’t do voodoo,” he promised, “it just kind of happens. When our seats were changed, and I looked at you I just kind of knew it. Love at first sight kind of thing I guess.”

Kim felt embarrassed by her admission to Jared, but instead of reacting as if she was probably just some crazed girl who was stalking him, he actually wished she would have said something earlier. "You were popular, good looking....any girl in school probably would love to date you. I didnt think you even knew I existed then" She told him honestly. "And if you or we hadn't imprinted yet..maybe you wouldnt have" She said wondering if he would have been able to recognize his soulmate earlier, she had been drawn to him immediately but it wasnt until their lab partners were changed that he seemed to notice her. She was eternally grateful for that switch in partners.
Kim smiled feeling relieved as Jared told her that imprinting only happened once. If this was actually happening now then it wouldnt happen again with some other girl, someone prettier and more outgoing. He was saying she was it, unless she didn't want it. She knew she wanted to be with him, but wondered if it was even a choice. "Are you positive that its happened with us?" She asked him still worried that he was mistaking innocent feelings with something as strong as he was describing. "If it is..how can I not want my soulmate" She said with a small smile, but still wondering if she could truly handle everything he was telling her today.
Kim got a little worried as he stared laughing, wondering just how off her theories of all of this were. He must think she was a complete idiot by now. She didnt seem to understand anything properly. The whole wolf thing was still a bit over her head, and imprinting was an even more foreign concept. "Oh" Kim said as he explained how it wasn't voodoo or anything like that but was just a love at first sight type of thing. "So you knew back then? Did you ever have any doubts about it?"

Jared really didn’t know what to say to her rebuttal. After all, he couldn’t understand for the life of him how he managed to go through school all that time never even knowing her name. It seemed strange, and didn’t make an iota of sense to him. He was still new to the imprinting thing, so some of her statements actually brought about more questions in his own mind. He wished he knew all the answers and the right way to expose them, but all he could come up with is it took being a werewolf to find his hearts desire.
Her smile eased his worry somewhat and he nodded in response to her question. He would give his life to protect her, his heart to see her smile, his arms to keep her warm. Anything that Kim wanted and he had the ability to bestow he would do so willingly. All he asked for was her company.
Jared smiled in return and looked around. The flames of the candles danced in their translucent casings the moment felt almost too perfect. “Yeah,” he admitted lowering his voice and dropping his lips to hover just above Kim’s ear. “I’ve known, literally since that day, that’s why I was acting weird.” he laughed. It was the first time Jared could remember being speechless. “I doubted my sanity, and my ability to care so much for a girl that I didn’t even know,” he grinned pulling back to reach for his glass once more. “But I never doubted the sensation,” he paused. “I’m sorry I had to tell you so much at once, but I don’t want to have to lie about stupid things anymore.” Jared admitted running his thumb against the stem of the glass.

It was hard for Kim to imagine how long Jared had known about this when she was still coming to terms with it. Everything they had been through these past few months she'd now have to go over and realize that first of all he was a wolf, or could be a wolf, and that he knew they were destined to be together. If he hadn't been different, there would have been nothing to bring them together, or keep them together, so she had to accept this side of him.
"No, dont be sorry, I'm glad you told me everything, i dont want you to feel like you have to keep anything from me" Kim told him, feeling closer to him now that she knew the truth. "When you asked me here tonight....I was sure that you wanted to break up with me, that everything we had was going to be over...but now you're telling me that you'll never leave me?" She said her eyes brimming with tears from all the emotions she was feeling tonight. She didn't know if she'd ever truly be able to believe that she would completely have him forever that he'd never leave, but it was a thought she was going to try to hold onto. "Is this really happening?"

Jared took a sip from the glass before placing it back on the table. He kept one hand with her at all times, as if breaking their touch would break the flow of words between them. He couldn’t imagine life without her and he didn’t want to. “I don’t want to keep anything from you,” he promised. He wanted her to be a part of everything and if it weren’t for the briefness in their relationship he would have asked her a very serious question. But he didn’t want her feeling forced.
His eyes lit up in surprise when Kim admitted she had been thinking he would break up with her tonight. He felt horrible that the butterflies she had inside must have been torturing her in a very different way than his had. He felt horrible for putting her through any stress. “I’m sorry,” he apologized, “I should have given you a clue that It wasn’t entirely bad,” he said with a weak smile.
He smiled and brushed his thumb against her cheek, “I promise you Kimberly Connweller that I will never leave you willingly. But if the day comes that you tire of me, I wont force you to stay.” he said the words hoping they would never come. But, he wouldn’t tell her that.
