Kim nodded as she listened to Jared tell her that he didn’t want to keep anything from. It was a little difficult for her to comprehend how much he had been keeping from her so far. She hadn’t expected to know every detail of his life, but these were major things. She wasn’t angry at him for keeping them a secret, seeing now how big they were and how much it mattered that they stayed secret, but she wondered how much more there could be. “Is there anything else you want to tell me?”
Kim blinked at the blurry vision in her eyes a few times as he apologized for letting her think that they were about to break up. She shook her head, unable to stop her overemotional self from sheddinig the tears. “It’s not your fault…and this wasn’t bad at all..Tonight was really special, this out here, it’s beautiful”
She hated that she couldn’t control her emotions better, she must look like a wreck to him. So weak, she didn’t know how he was able to stand it, but he brushed the tear on her cheek away with his thumb, and she looked up to meet his eyes. He was promising her forever. A promise that he’d never leave her, which was the only thing she was ever really afraid of. She prayed with all her heart that the way he felt right now, so certain of staying, would never leave him. “I will never tire of you” She told him. “I will always want you with me....But I wont force you to stay either”

Jared was caught off guard by the question and he racked his mind for a quick and smart response. But none came. He shrugged and smiled that innocent grin of his. “Not that I know of, I think that’s all the secrets one man can keep in a lifetime,” he chuckled. He felt like he was lighter, almost able to float. Keeping things from the one woman he wanted to share everything with from his something so simple as his jacket, to as complicated as his life was like trying to win a basket ball game played on ice. Always afraid to slip, and sure that you’ll fall face first into failure.
He watched in pure agony as tears brimmed in her bright blue eyes. Those pools of blue should never hold an ounce of sadness, not if he could help it. He immediately pulled her closer, hoping the contact would have the same effect on her as it did on him. It was doubtful, but anything was worth a try.
A small grin tugged at the corners of his mouth as he pulled back and realized they were tears of joy. His body instantly less tense he took hold of her hands. One in each of his own drastically larger ones. He kissed the back of one of her hands than the other, and directed both of them to touch the thin fabric of his shirt, her palms settling on the space just above his heart. “This, us, me, is yours for as long as you want it, and I’ll try my hardest to make sure that its forever, that’s my promise to you.” he paused before continuing, “and don’t feel like you need to say anything, I just wanted you to know,” he said giving her a gentle feather like kiss on her own slightly parted lips.
“At least now you know why I’m so warm,” he laughed trying to lighten the mood. Last thing he wanted was her feeling trapped or overwhelmed by his proclamations.

Kim smiled when Jared told her that he had told her all his secrets now. While she hadn’t thought they were bad, it was a lot of information to take in and she was glad that the shocks were over. She knew it would take her awhile now to actually let the information settle in and come to believe it. But this was now a part of her life as well. She would accept it, and support him in any way she could. She was his imprintee. She smiled again as the thought came over her, that she was the only one he could do this with. She really had the man of her dreams.
As Jared pulled her closer she felt a wave of comfort, and wondered briefly if that was something that came with the wolf ability, the calming nature. She had never felt so small in his arms as she did now, but it felt nice, and she felt safe. He was someone who had enormous strength yet he was completely gentle with her, and loving. It was what she had always dreamed of as a kid in a man, a big strong man to protect her, but one soft enough to love her.
Kim looked down at their hands as Jared took both of hers and gently kissed the backs of them. She blushed as the shy smile reappeared on her face. She couldn’t imagine a more romantic man. She then let her hands rest on his chest where he placed them, feeling his rapid heart beat and the heat emitting from his skin. Her mouth opened as she was about to tell him something but she heard him say that he was only telling her so she would know how he felt and then he kissed her lightly. When he pulled back, there was only love in her eyes, still afraid that this would end up some dream that she’d wake up from only to find him gone. He was something out of a dream, and beautiful in both his forms.
“Is that so you don’t get cold during the winter outside?” She asked him, trying to make sense of the excess heat he possessed. “Wouldn’t the fur do that?”

Jared laughed, and gave her hands a little squeeze. “I have no idea why,” he admitted still chuckling lightly. He hadn’t realized how much he truly didn’t know about himself. A lot of the whys had gone unasked, or unanswered, but now he felt he needed to search for the information; If not for himself than to calm his girlfriend’s worries and need for understanding. He couldn’t blame her, they were things he was sure he himself should probably know the answers to.
He shrugged and looked to the moon, smiling in thought of the Hollywood version of his species. They were so typical, and one dimensional; Nothing to them but fur, anger, and hideous half man, half human features. “Maybe it’s so we don’t get cold when were phasing back and forth.” He thought aloud, “I mean hell, we bust out of our clothes, and then were left with nothing but draft,” he admitted looking down at her instantly.
The words had seemed to leave his mouth without him realizing the consequences. There was bound to be a blush to her cheeks, her innocence always made him smile. He wondered now if she had ever pictured him naked, or made an attempt to. Jared, being a hot blooded healthy male had of course imagined what the future could hold for them. He chuckled lightly and gave her a wink, wondering how many states it was illegal in to have intercourse with a werewolf. After all, in a late night bored Google search he’d found it was illegal in several states to hump a porcupine. Who knew why and why that law was put into place?
He turned his attention to the small black radio that was set absently amongst the leaves of the trees, stuck between the branches. Jared smiled and stood, holding his hand down to her. He looked like a giant with her sitting, and him looming over her. He smiled gently, feeling like Shrek, or some ogre way too awkward and lanky to be near her simply beautiful presence.
“May I have this dance?” he asked in a mocked royal tone, like that of Prince Charming in a Disney movie. It was cheesy, but he wanted to make her smile, he’d do an Irish jig just to hear her giggle.

Kim smiled lightly as he told her that he had no idea the answer of her question. She couldn’t believe how patient he was being with her. She seemed to have an endless amount of questions, yet he didn’t tell her to leave it alone, or that they were stupid. He was patient with her and gave her honest answers, even if it was just about what he didn’t know. “It’s okay” She said not minding that he didn’t know the answer. “I like that you’re so warm…” She said feeling another blush creep up to her cheeks at her admission. She was always the type who felt cold, so being in his arms was comforting on so many levels.
Kim’s blush only deepened as he mentioned busting out of his clothes when he phased. She couldn’t help but try to imagine it, being left with the thought of Jared’s naked body, something that made her look away as quickly as he did. She wondered for a moment if he thought about her that way too. What would he think of her if he knew the thoughts she was currently having about him. She knew her request to see him as a wolf would have to wait, she couldn’t follow up hearing about how it left him naked with her asking him to do it. Her cheeks couldn’t get red enough to make that come out of her mouth.
She heard him laughing and looked up in time to see him give her a wink. “I guess a wolf running around in a suit would look kind of silly…” She responded feeling like she needed to say something before he could tell exactly what she had really been thinking.
Kim watched as Jared stood up and offered his hand out to her. He looked like superhero standing before her, or some sort of greek god. She felt lucky to have him as her own. She smiled as he asked for a dance. “It would be my pleasure” She said taking his hand as she stood up.

Jared grinned widely, she was so adorable, so perfect. One thing the elders said that he did remember was the fact that not all werewolves would imprint, he and Sam had been lucky. Paul-not like he could see it happening- hadn’t yet imprinted and he had to feel a little bad for the overly manic addition to the pack. Jared on the other hand had found the most perfect girl, the girl of his dreams, and he was barely 19. Life was good, for the most part.
He smiled at her, the picture of a wolf wearing Armani fresh in his minds eye. Jared bowed a little and laughed as he tugged at her hand, pulling her into him.
He held her one had in his own rather large one, the other finding the small of her back. They swayed like a gentle breeze to the sounds coming from the small portable radio. The old gadget didn’t have a CD deck, so he’d gone real old school, recording a cassette of her favorite songs. They played one after another, chosen particularly for something on the romantic side, or at least what he hoped could be considered such. He sang the lyrics in a soft, velvety tone, serenading her best he could.
“You know, not all werewolves,” he paused, “imprint,” so much for normal conversation.

Kim allowed herself to be led as Jared pulled at her hand, moving her towards him. She snuggled up against him as they danced, enjoying the feeling of the heat that she now was learning more about. She felt closer to him than ever before, and loved him even more than she thought was possible. Some of it did still seem overwhelming but he was hers for life, it was something that she’d never believed she’d be lucky enough to have.
Kim looked down at the hand of his that held hers. They were so different, in size, in temperature and just in gender appearances. His was obviously strong and male and hers small and feminine. They were opposites in many ways but seemed to be the perfect fit. She smiled as she listened to the songs that were playing, surprised at just how well he knew her, knowing exactly what she liked. She could hear his soft voice singing to her and she felt drawn to him completely. “I never thought a guy would be serenading me” She told him smiling, with pure joy on her face.
She tilted her head to the side a bit surprised at the new information that he told her. Not all wolves imprinted but he had. What did that mean? Why did he end up imprinting on her? Was it random luck or for a specific reason? She knew he probably didn’t know all of the answers to the new questions that were sprouting up, but she knew there was one that he would know. “Really? Do you wish you hadn’t? That you would’ve had the choice of who you wanted to be with?” She asked, knowing that the way it seemed with imprinting, it was beyond his control.

Jared laughed, the smile pure, and genuine. “Never thought I’d serenade anyone, or at least try,” he chuckled. He wasn’t sure if he was really any good, all he knew was that if she liked it he would continue. He couldn’t imagine a life without her now that he had her. Nor did he want to. The mere thought of a world without Kim Connweller seemed like a world without hope, without faith, without light. He wouldn’t tell her that though, in fear that one day when she woke up ready to leave the deal she’d been dealt, with a half human husband. He wouldn’t want her to feel any guilt.
“Really.” He said maintain the gentle flow to the music. Her question almost stopped him in his tracks. A part of him wanted to tell her he couldn’t bear to think of a day without her in his world, but it just felt to rehearsed to say such things. There was no need to risk making her feel like he was an obsessed half breed. Really, how much could the girl take in one day?
“Kim, angel,” he suddenly stopped their rhythmic flow to the soft guitar emanating from the small speakers. Her hand cupped in his own he brought it to his heart, placing her palm against the soft fabric of his dress shirt. “Some one,” he said looking to the sky before letting his gaze return to her eyes, “Someone up there handpicked a representative of all that’s worth living for, they chose you. I can’t even begin to question why, because it’s not in my heart, I’m simply thankful they saw fit to give me light through this darkness. And I’m happy it’s you.”

Kim smiled lovingly at him as he told her he never though he'd serenade anyone. "You sound like you've been doing it your whole life, you have a great voice" She told him, thinking that she could listen to the sound of his voice every day for the rest of her and never grow tired of it. A burst of glee went through her and she almost squeeled with joy at the thought that with this new information she really could have the chance to spend the rest of her life with him, in his arms like this, hearing that voice.
But the idea that this wasnt something that all of the wolves did, a concept that was harder for her to grasp than the imprinting, knowing her feelings better than shapeshifting legends. He confirmed that not all wolves went through this, she wondered how she had gotten lucky enough to have gotten one of the ones who did. To have him look at her this way, the way no one else had looked at her. Kim let Jared take her hand and place it against his chest over his heart, feeling both the heat and the heartbeat below it.
She smiled back at him as he beautifully and elegantly told her he was thankful for what they had, that he didnt regret or resent it the way she thought he might, having had his choice taken from him. His words made her feel incredibly loved. "I'm grateful to whoever gave me you, made me lucky enough to be the one you imprinted on" She said hoping she was using the word right, still getting used to the idea.
As happy as she was with them now, every thought of imprinting seemed tied to the fact that he could change into a wolf. If he didnt, they wouldnt be together. But it still seemed so strange to her. When she had seen the wolf earlier, she hadn't understood yet that it was him. She had even been afraid when she saw it, thinking it would hurt Jared. Though she tried to put it off, she knew she needed to ask him, she needed to know that she could handle that side of him, a huge part of who he was.
"Jared.." She said softly, nervous about making her request. "You said it doesnt hurt you right?" She said wanting to make sure she wasnt going to be causing him any pain by asking him to go through the change again. "Can I...see you like that again?"

Jared felt a smile tug at the corners of his mouth as she mentioned imprinting. It sounded cute with her voice, coming from those perfect lips. He couldn’t believe how lucky he was to know that she wasn’t leaving him for being what he was. She wasn’t afraid, she wasn’t crying, and she didn’t seem angry. Jared could feel the weight of the world lifting slowly off of his shoulders. It was as if he’d been underwater for months, and was finally able to suck in a breath.
The sound of her soothing voice stole him from his thoughts and he looked down at her when she said his name. “Hmmm?” he asked as he pulled her closer rubbing her back gently with his massive hand. “No, doesn’t hurt a bit, though it took some getting used to.” He admitted, now beginning to wonder what was to come next.
He hadn’t expected that and he was slightly taken off guard, but he smiled. “As you wish,” he told her with a slight chuckle. Jared pulled his body away from hers despite the fact he didn’t want to. Anything to make her happy or to ease her mind was worth it. “Wait here?” he asked her, and smiled, “otherwise you’d have to see me naked.” Jared winked and chuckled as he walked back toward the cover of the trees.
A large wolf emerged from the trees within a few moments his gray coat shimmering in the moon light as if fresh snow had fallen only on him. The animal took a few steps forward, its large head bowed. It whimpered slightly as the man within it hoped she wasn’t afraid to get close. Either way, he wouldn’t risk it.

Kim was doing her best to accept this entire thing. The idea of him being a wolf and the imprinting phenomenon that he had explained to her. It seemed like a dream that she only semi-understood, but she was fighting to keep up. Kim didnt want to disappoint Jared and say the wrong thing or use the terminology in the wrong way. She wanted to be worthy of the eternal love he was promising her.
As she voiced her request she felt nervous and scared and a bit silly. She didnt want to hurt him if it caused him pain. She also felt embarrassed at even asking, hoping he didnt feel like she was turning him into some circus freak show, wanting to see the unusual talent he posessed. She also hoped that when she did see him this time, knowing it was him, she'd actually be able to handle staying with him. She loved him but the idea did worry her. It also worried her how he'd take the question.
She nodded slowly as he said how it didnt hurt, but it took some getting used to. She wondered if she shouldnt have asked. Maybe there wasn't pain, but it still probably wasn't a pleasant experience for him. She felt guilty for making her request and lowered her eyes as soon as the words left her mouth but looked up as she heard a soft chuckle as he agreed. "You don' t have to..." She said, still worried about upsetting him but nodding giving him a smile as he told her to wait there. "Thank you" She responded, blushing as he mentioned seeing him naked. It was something she wouldnt mind, but wasn't sure her emotions could deal with anything else new tonight.
Kim stood in the clearing where he left her. Her hands in front of her, wringing them nervously, wondering if this was a mistake, and she wasnt ready for it. She saw the wolf emerge from the trees and her heart sped up as it had the first time, her natural instinct as a human was fear, that his was an animal that could kill her. Her hands shook as her brain fought with her instincts telling her this wasn't an animal, this was the man she loved. This was Jared and he'd never hurt her, he was safe. She watched as he bowed his head, keeping his distance. She knew she had to push it.
Hands shaking she slowly moved towards the animal, looking into his eyes, for something that would be familiar of Jared. The wolf was beautiful and really a magnificent creature. She swallowed as she got closer, hoping she wouldnt set anything off in him, remembering him saying he had control. "It's really you?" She asked softly, as she ended up right in front of him and stopped walking. She slowly reached up her hand about to touch him but pulled back. "Is it okay...Jared?"

Jared only shook his head when she’d said he didn’t have to. He knew that it wasn’t a command he was meant to obey, he wanted to do it. Anything to make her happy, even if the joy in her eyes would only last a few moments. He was fully prepared to morph back in front of her if she was too afraid. After all, nothing to make you seem less in control then being naked at the beach, crouched in the sand in front of the woman you loved. Yup, worse came to worse he would phase back where he stood. Though, he hoped he wouldn’t have too.
Jared felt a little sick as he heard the faint sound of a normal heart beat race to one of which he couldn’t place. Fear, or maybe it was anticipation? No, he could almost smell her fear, his head bowed in reaction and he let out a small whimper as If to say I won’t hurt you. If only she could hear him. His eyes held a tint of innocence to them, like a puppy waiting patiently to be pet, and show affection. The wolf nodded its large head in confirmation, moving slowly and maintaining its proximity to the ground.
The wolf was sully aware that in this form words would never form on his lips. And he felt lost for a moment on how to show her he would be gentle, he would never hurt her. Thinking of what animals did in movies he made an attempt to earn her trust. He moved his large head toward her hand, as if urging her to pet him. After the simple motion he leaned into the sand again, willing her space just in case she was still frightened, he could still hear her heart like a Latino drumbeat wildly out of control in his ears. He whimpered once more and looked up to her with sad and sorrow filled eyes.

Kim could hear the soft whimper coming from the grand creature in front of her. Such a out of place sound from the strong and powerful animal in front of her eyes. It wasn't just a beast, with natural animal instincts, it was her Jared, reacting to her expressions and movements as he would have in any other way. She felt guilty for the way she must look, knowing she was apprehensive in her approach to the wolf. She wanted to be stronger for Jared. To not hesitate. She loved him, but to understand that the man you loved wasn't always a man, was something she had needed to see to believe. She gave the wolf an apologetic look and a nervous smile in response to the whimper.
As she looked into his eyes, walking closer, she didnt see any agression in the wolf. There was no danger that he'd attack, and her mind reminded her that it was because it was her boyfriend. He was so beautiful, and calm. She was a bit overwhelmed by the beauty he did possess, even in this form. Her nervous smile widened a little as she saw the wolf head nod in response to her question, verifying for her that he was still understanding everything she was saying to him. She needed to touch him, to feel the fur between her fingers, and only hoped he wouldnt resent her later for petting him like an animal.
Her hand still hesitated after the nod, hovering a few inches away, unsure of herself until he moved his head towards her, as if he were able to read her thoughts and wanted her to know he didnt mind. She saw a sadness in his eyes as he looked at her, and her hand made contact with his neck first, human survival instinct telling her to keep away from the giant teeth she knew were there, but her love for him, seeing the man he was in those eyes making her move her hand up to the side of his face, below his eye and gently touching his cheek before petting the top of his head. "You're so soft..." She said in amazement "And beautiful"
She took a deep breath before leaning in closer, closing the gap and putting her trust in him as she kissed the fur of his cheek. "I love you Jared"

Her smile didn’t bring the warm feeling that filled his core with a gentle heat; after all it wasn’t her normal smile. She looked anxious, but at least she didn’t look as frightened as she had only moments ago. He kept himself low in a less than defensive position. He didn’t want to move if he was earning her trust in this form. The night had gone surprisingly different than he had thought it was. And he wasn’t complaining.
When her smile widened her spirits lifted if only a little bit. He was beginning to wonder who was more nervous…himself or Kim. He moved closer to her slowly not wanting to scare her but wanting to close the space between them, to show her he was still Jared Greystone. He was still the same high school senior that was madly in love with his shy, gorgeous girlfriend.
Jared felt a sudden burst of happy emotion, for once in what felt a long time he felt…accepted, understood by someone out of the pack. He nudged her hand softly with his nose and licked it, he immediately looked to the ground. That, was a very strange instinct, he wanted to laugh his own nervous laugh, but was afraid of what that might come out sounding like.
When the three little words came out of her mouth the feeling was indescribable. His angel was just that, how else could one explain her willingness to love a half human. He wanted to speak, to tell her he loved her too, but he was a werewolf, not Scooby doo and it was bound to come out a series of animal sounds. Instead he stayed silent and still, only looking at her with joy filled brown eyes.

Kim knew that she'd have to remember to properly thank Jared later for how patient he was being. She could see how focused he was on trying to keep himself looking as least threatening as possible, given the form he was in. She knew from his size, and his muscles that he'd be a force to be reckoned with. Her small form had nothing against him, yet her fear that she had felt when first seeing him, was slowly fading and her realization of who he was had started to take over. She felt a sense of security rush over her for a moment knowing he could protect her from anything.
Kim was a bit surprised as Jared nudged her hand with his nose and then licked it, not having expected that from her boyfriend, but finding it felt normal and made her happy as an expression of his feelings for her in this form. She watched his eyes move to the ground and found herself letting out a soft giggle. It seemed to erase the tension she had felt towards the situation. She put her hand under his chin, feeling more confident now and tilted his large head towards her. "A kiss on the hand, such a gentleman" She smiled at him, letting him know the lick hadn't weirded her out further.
She had told him she had loved him before, but saying it now felt so much more real. She knew this whole other part of him, but was still able to mean those three words with all of her heart. She loved him, wolf or man, and he was hers, her imprinter, soulmate, boyfriend and love of her life. She was lucky to have such a man. She looked into his eyes and could see the happiness in them and knew it was all Jared. She leaned forward and put her arms around his neck more freely now as she gave him a hug.
