At last. It felt like forever -- okay, not quite that long but long enough -- since Jasper had something to eat. His thirst was immense and he was as desperate as ever. Moments like these were what he looked forward to. It was the weekend, a perfect Friday night, and they had two full days to hunt as much as they needed to. Hopefully. . . it would be enough to fill this void of thirst, which at the moment seemed entirely impossible.
He waited patiently for the rest of his family, standing outside the house as everyone was getting ready to head off into the woods. It was quite easy for them. They didn't need tents, or blankets, or any of the necessities that humans need to settle in a different location for a couple of days. They just went. . . bringing only themselves.
[Open to anyone who's up for a hunt.]

Rosalie quickly made her way down the winding steps of their home, only to find that Jasper was the only one ready to go. She sighed impatiently and crossed her arms, listening for any sign of movement coming from the other rooms in the house. After almost a century of abstaining from human blood, Rosalie had a moderate hold on her thirst, but it was still dangerous to be so thirsty when they were in Forks. This was especially so for her brother, who was obviously as anxious as she was to get going, being the first of the hunting party to be at the door.
Trying to project a calm atmosphere from herself towards Jasper, she hoped it helped even just a little. She wasn't sure how well she was doing, since she was almost as thirsty as he was. "To Goat Rocks again?" She asked simply, trying to distract him.

Carlisle walked deliberately slowly as he emerged from their family home. He was at the point where he needed to hunt, his eyes a very dark topaz. He didn’t wait until they had turned deathly black like others in his family had been known to do - he didn’t want to take that chance with all the blood in the hospital. Even though he had never slipped up in his long life, he still didn’t want to take his self control for granted. And besides, after a while it just became unnecessarily painful. Seen as he hadn’t been needed at the hospital this weekend, he had decided to take the opportunity to spend the time with the rest of his family. He nodded at Jasper and Rosalie who were already standing outside.
“I hear there are still a couple of grizzlies up there, surprisingly,” the bear season had really ended, but there were always a few stragglers.

Jasper watched her 'twin' descend from the stairs, and was disappointed when she seemed to be the only one ready. . . besides himself of course. Jasper was far too eager. He did not even try to hide it. . . he had no need to. Everyone knew of his lack of control, and his need to hunt more than the others. Though he was ashamed of it, it was out of his control.
He was aware of what she was doing. He could feel her calmness, emanating from her and into himself. It helped. It helped a great deal. He was about to answer, when Carlisle came. Excellent! Another was ready to go. Jasper leaned against the door and took deep breathes. "The others. . . are they almost ready?" He asked, trying to conceal the desperation in his voice. It was of little use. When he was thirsty, his impatience often got the better of him.

Carlisle cast a small, calm smile at his newest son.
“They’re on their way, Jasper,” he told him, glancing back at the house, though he didn’t need to.
He pitied Jasper’s struggles against his nature. It really was admirable of him to change his ways after such a long period as a regular vampire - Carlisle respected him a lot and would try to aid his development into ‘vegetarianism’ in any way he could. Whilst patience was a virtue that needed to be learnt, there was such a thing as pushing beyond the limits and judging by the colour of Jasper’s eyes his thirst must be raging.
“I’m certain that they are just seeing to the house now, you know we have to make sure everything is secure and up to appearances even in our absence…”
If anyone should stumble upon the beautiful house in the remote area and managed, against the odds, to gain access… Well, the Cullens could return home and already be exposed without a warning. Prevention was better than cure, and all that.

Esme appeared in the doorway. Her dark, but not yet black, eyes were apologetic as she looked at her newest son. "I'm sorry, Jasper," she said as she passed through the doorway, "I didn't realize how thirsty you were."
Esme had been upstairs in her room, just mussing with some of her belongings. Making sure nothing incriminating to their true being was left out.
She glided to a stop, positioning herself next to Jasper. She touched his right forearm soothingly, "We'll be leaving shortly." She quietly recalled in her head what it was like in the begining, when she was first learning to control the thirst for the human blood she wanted, trying to make due with the animal's blood. She smiled sweetly at Jasper before removing her hand and gliding down the porch steps.

Concentrating on Jasper, Carlisle's approach had almost caught her by surprise. Turning to look at him, Rosalie found her artificial sense of calm become real when she saw her father. He was always so composed and compassionate. Esme soon joined them and stood by her newest son, offering her own words of comfort. She kept quiet this time, knowing that perhaps her temper might get in her way, and let her parents pacify Jasper as he knew best.
She grinned slightly when Carlisle mentioned the possibility of encountering grizzlies. Emmett was sure to get a kick out of them. Where was he anyway? He never took this long, especially when it concerned a hunt.

It wasn't long before Edward was outside joining his family silently. He needed this hunt more than he usually did. After his decision to return from Alaska and try to spend time near Bella, he knew he couldn't let his thirst build up. He didnt know that he was strong enough to resist the scent of her blood even after a weekend of hunting, he was sure that if he let his thirst grow too much, he'd end up killing her. He could practically imagine how her blood would taste - the sweetness of it that no other human's blood could compare too.
It was moments like this that Edward was glad that no one in his family could read his mind like he could theirs. But even so he knew they all knew why he was so desperate to try to make it easier to spend time with Bella, to have insurances that he wouldnt slip.

"I understand," Jasper said in a low voice as Carlisle explained the need to maintain appearances. Emse's apologies increased his already present guilt. "You do not have to apologize." Why was he so weak? Well. . . we knew why but he hated it. He was sick of being the weak one. . . the one that Esme and Carlisle, and even his brothers and sisters had to apologize to, and had to hurry for.
"I did not mean to seem so impatient. I can wait." A slight lie, but he had to be fair. Others were more composed than he. Now that Edward had recently arrived, they were just waiting for Alice and Emmett. Had Jasper not rushed to the door to wait, he would have exited with his wife. But once again, his patience was lost when his eyes were so dark from thirst.

"Really Jasper, it's not a problem," Esme reassured Jasper.
Esme looked at each person around her, her family. She smiled hugely at all of them as her eyes passed their faces. Then her attention turned to the front door, waiting for the rest of the family to return. She wondered quietly to herself if the two missing members had intended to go on this hunting trip with them.

Alice then came skipping though the door. "Hello Everyone!" she trilled, and then started into Jasper's dark black eyes. "Oh, I'm so sorry Jazz," she said, looking away, "Emmett will be here soon though, then we can head off," she said, and then smiled brightly up at him.
She was also very thirsty. Her eyes were almost as dark as Jasper's, but she had more control than him. She then quickly moved up to Jasper's Left hand side, and held his hand, never looking away from his face.

"Thank you." Even if it was a problem, Esme would never say so. Of course she would reassure him. She was very patient and very understanding. Jasper hoped he could control himself. . . he needed a lot of work on that but every day was another challenge, and every day he managed to restrain his urges. Right on cue, as always, Alice came into the room. Her jovial manner always calmed Jasper down.
"You do not have to apologize," he told her in a soft voice. Though his expression remained the same, he turned to look at Alice as she took his hand. And that was all he did. He just looked at her. He was not one to engage in public displays of affection but with Alice, he did not need to. Looking at her gave him strength and it was most likely the reason he had lasted this long. He seldom strayed from her side. Even while hunting, he much preferred to have her near.

Alice smiled back up at Jasper. "But your so thirsty, and I held you back," she said, and then smiled back up at him. She loved his so much, and knew that he didn't like to publicly show his love to her. They waited until they were alone to do that. Alice felt the calm drifting off of Jasper and on to her. She loved it so much. She knew that she was also making him feel better by always being in a sweet and happy mood. She knew that he loved that.
So there they all were, waiting for Emmett. He would be back soon, she could tell. "Just a few more minutes, Jazz," she whispered to Jasper, so low and quiet that only he could hear. She almost mouthed the words.

Honestly, of all the people to take their time, it was never Emmett. Rosalie was slightly relieved when Jasper was joined by Alice. She could hear his relief in his voice, though his burning thirst was still evident in the onyx of his eyes and stone of his posture. "You know what... you all go ahead and I'll find him. We'll catch up with you." Whether by car or on foot, Goat Rocks was never too much of a distance for their speed.
Without waiting for an answer, she quickly going back inside and leaving through the back instead. She quickly sensed Emmett's scent and immediately took off after where it lead to. Her face folded slightly into a delicate frown, wondering where he was. He knew they were leaving today.(( I'm gonna throw Emmett a PM and see if he'll be joining us or if he'd just like to be in the background ))

"Oh," said Alice, and tightened her grasp on Jasper's hand. It was quite a mystery though, about Emmett. He said that he would be here. Alice knew were he was though, just driving around forks and that. But no one knew why. Not even Edward. He did know though, which was the little thing that made this even more of a mystery.
As Rosalie left, the rest of them looked at each other. Should they go now? Or should they still wait for Emmett? Alice thought that they should all go, because Rose would fine him. But the others might now agree with me. "When shall we go?" Alice asked.
