Character Basics
Name: Taiomah Keshawn
Nickname: Tai
Age: 21 (Same age as Rayen)
Appearance
Looks: From a very early age, Tai was marked as a sportsman, having always been taller and better built than most of the other kids around La Push. However, by the time he returns, he finds that he is almost short compared to the younger generation, even at his six feet. His muscles aren’t as big as they once were, having had a year to soften since his accident. He has very dark, almost black hair, which he has allowed to grow to about three inches in left, and which often hangs over his face. Similarly, his eyes are a dark brown, as his almost permanent stubble. The most striking aspect of his appearance are his stunningly high cheekbones, which make the flesh of his cheek almost look hollow. He tends not to pay much attention to his clothing and can often be seen in ragged jeans or sweats and a t-shirt. He carries a walnut arm rest cane.
Scars, tattoos, other marks: A big, ugly scar encircling the inside of his knee and just under the kneecap.
Portrayed by: Matt Gordon
Personality and Stats
Basic Personality: All through his high school career, he focused on being ‘the jock’. He lived for sports and sports lived for him, sometimes to the detriment of his long term girlfriend. However, he has always had a tender side, which even Rayen didn’t see enough of. He has a good sense of what ‘the right thing’ is and will always try to do it, even if he has to suffer a little because of it. He isn’t the smartest of people and often takes a while to pick up on sensitive emotions, which doesn’t mix well with his natural bluntness. Since his injury he has also become a little bitter, especially as his coach paid for him to go through post-traumatic care when he learnt that his career was down the pan. He has a bit of a shell these days and won’t easily be hurt again.
Species: Human
Abilities: None
Occupation: Unemployed
Car: 1990 Dodge Ram at school; 1994 Dodge later
History:
Birthplace: Makah Reservation
Family: Parents, Claire Titan (Daughter)
Friends: Rayen Young (Girlfriend/Ex)
History: Tai grew up, happily and uncomplicatedly, in the Makah Reservation, the only child to his parents, though that didn’t spoil him. He began to play football at the tender age of three, with his father in the back yard and showed a natural propensity for it from even that early age. He loved the game from that moment and progressed through elementary, middle and high school, captaining every team. The thing he loved most was seeing his father (when he was young) standing proudly in the crowd, and later, his girlfriend, Rayen.
At the age of sixteen he fell in love for the first time. He didn’t understand it for a long time, being so young, but he wasn’t shy and soon asked the girl out on a date. She accepted and their relationship blossomed. Neither was shy of the other, though he did sometimes time her for granted, but that didn’t mean that he didn’t love her. He didn’t tell her that, of course, he had a reputation to keep up. He tried to show her how he felt physically, which is how the two ended up having an adult relationship while still within the social confines of the playground.
By the time senior year came to an end, he had everything, or so he thought. He had a gorgeous girlfriend, a scholarship to one of the leading football universities in the States and enough money to go. It couldn’t be that simple though, and when he asked Rayen to accompany him to college, make a thing of it there, she refused. This both surprised and hurt him, he knew that she was bright and yet she wasn’t going to leave the Reservation? It wasn’t for him to comment upon, though. By the time it actually came to leaving for college he never saw Rayen anymore. They hadn’t split up, per se, but they never saw each other. They didn’t even say goodbye when he left.
For four years at college he played his heart out and although he was no longer the best out of the bunch, he was certainly good and was always on the first team for their big games. Towards the end of his course he was approached by the Florida Gators with a temporary try out period. He happily joined them for their training and played in their second team for a while. However, just a year into his three year contract, he suffered a terrible accident on the field. The pads over his left knee sheered away, because they were quite old and needed replacing. He took a fall, his now exposed knee making full contact with another player’s pads and being pushed beyond breaking point as someone else careered into his back.
When he finally regained consciousness after a long, complicated operation, he found that his kneecap had been shattered and dislodged. He needed a few repeat surgeries to rebuild it, which accounted for another year, and was told that he would never play again; he would never even walk properly again. The club put him through post-traumatic counselling, in which he completely closed himself off, angry that they had to do this as a ‘pay off’ to everything he could have been. Thus, he swallowed his pride and made the move back to his parents’ house on the Reservation, forever reliant on a hated cane and ignorant of the past he left behind.
