She’s spent many days and nights surrounded by the men she works with and her personality is such that most of them soon forget she is a female, joking around with her and running off at the mouth with her as if she was just another guy. She’s a bit of a tomboy, aggressive at times, not afraid to speak her mind or get her hands dirty. She’s enthusiastic about her job and always ready to jump in, sometimes a little too recklessly. History: Mya was born in Miami Florida. She is part Quileute/Makah on her father’s side, but her mother is from Miami. She has family still living on the reservation in Washington, and has visited several times over the years, but has spent most of her life in Florida. She was always the tom boy type growing up. She enjoyed playing superheroes more than playing dress up or with Barbie dolls. She knew from an early age that she wanted to do something where she made a difference and decided to go into law enforcement.
She attended college in Miami where she got her bachelors degree in criminal justice and psychology. In her freshman year she took a course to become certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. Once an EMT she started working at the local fire department throughout the rest of her college career, becoming a trained firefighter as well, now qualified to run both their medical and fire calls that came in. Once she graduated from college she immediately attended the police academy.
After graduating top of her class at the academy, she found out that the Miami PD had a 2 year waiting list for new recruits to start. Not wanting to wait to start her career, Mya looked for other options. Though not her first choice of locations, she found out that the town of Forks was hiring new officers, and it was near the reservation that she still had family living at. She accepted the position, and packed up her bags to start her career in Forks. Having enjoyed being an EMT and firefighter in college, she also signed up to be a part of the volunteer squad in town during her off duty hours.
