Leo watched her shrug, feeling defeated. He didn’t think he could apologize enough for not being there. He was yearning now to explain everything to her. From the wolf thing to imprinting to finding the pack. He needed something to explain that this was an extraordinary circumstance and that he hadn’t meant to be gone when she needed him. But seeing how many drinks she had, he knew now wasn’t the right time. He needed her head completely clear when he explained this to her. He also needed his own head to be clear, which he could feel it becoming fuzzy at the moment from the drinks he had with her.
He watched her giggle and blush before burying her head against his chest asking him to stay. “I will always stay with you, I promise, as long as you want me to” He told her, knowing that he’d never leave her again when she wanted him there. He couldn’t put her through that and he knew the reason why now. It was still amazing to him, he had an imprintee, a soulmate. It was a feeling he knew he had before, but now he had words to describe it, and confirm that he was forever hers.
“Tents? I don’t know if you want to be building tents tonight, it might get kinda cold out here… you can stay with me you know…warm bed…I can take the floor” he offered, not wanting her to feel he was inviting her back to take advantage of her.
Leo frowned as he listened to her say how her father hated her because she looked like her mother. “I’m sorry Issy, that’s just not right…” He said not knowing what else to say. He felt anger anytime he thought of how her father acted towards her. He knew anger wasn’t an emotion he could afford to experience, especially around her. He reached down and pulled up the bottle again, taking another swig to forget his anger.
He put the bottle down as he heard her state how he would change his mind on her if he met every girl in the universe. “Isabelle, you don’t ever need to think that. I love you. And if I met every girl in the universe, I’d still love you and think you were the most beautiful. Nothing could change that. We’re destined to be together”

Isabelle made a fishy face and looked up at him, her lips scrunched together for a fish kiss. She closed her eyes and shot her head back. She only opened her eyes a second later and gave him a long serious look. Truth be told when he said warm bed she would have wanted him in it with her. And at the moment her thoughts were moving faster than her brain could keep up with, by the time she did she was blushing once more. Only this time she didn’t try to hide it. “I don’t know if your parents would like that,” she told him thoughtfully, her words beginning to slur together.
She only shrugged when Leo said her father’s sentiments were all wrong, she agreed. But that was life. She didn’t want to think of her Dad. His heavy hands, and point on aim, the bruises that were always hidden just beneath plain site from the people who knew her. The way he looked or laughed before he did something to make her react in pain. Her knees buckle…the way his words slurred in an unmistaken rhythm. The way he raised his voice at her when she took on a kung fu stance to protect herself, Isabelle could still hear his bellowing voice, promising to break her wrists in her sleep if she ever tried that **** on him. She remembered vividly awaking in pain from a broken leg…she remembered lying to Quil about it. A tear fell down her chilled cheek.
When Leo spoke of her beauty she was stolen from her trance of remembrance, she smiled meekly before trying to squeeze him with a hug. “You’re my angel,” she admitted to him. A small hiccup escaped from her slightly parted lips and she laughed. “I always thought angels would be romantic, always begged for one.” She sat back to look him in the eyes, “Thank you for finally finding me.” She said simply in an almost matter-of-fact tone.

Leo smiled as she told him that his parents wouldn't like the idea of her staying the night. She was blushing and she hadn't said no. So at least she was considering the option. That was much better than her staying out in some tent, and there was no way he would send her back to her father's. "My parents don't even have to find out, we'll just go back when we're ready to sleep and be quiet" He told her as convincingly as he could.
As Leo swallowed down the additional alcohol he prayed that its effects would soon overtake his entire body. He needed the rage he felt against her father for hurting her to be calmed right now. He didn't want to forget what he had done, but he wanted to make sure that he himself didn't turn out to hurt her even worse, because he was unable to manage his emotions. But as the alcohol reached his head, he knew this binge drinking was probably one of the last things he should be doing right now to show her how different he was from the other male figure in her life...but it was too late for that now. He only hoped he could remember in the morning to add this to the list of things he had to apologize for. Leo saw the tear trickling down her cheek and worried that he was already terrifying her. "I'm sorry..." He told her, carefully and slowly reaching for her cheek to brush it away, not wanting to make any quick movements that could scare her even more. "I'll never hurt you like he did"
Luckily he saw a smile appear as he told her his feelings towards her and how he saw her. He gratefully returned her hug. "I'm not angel...I'm a wolf" He told her the alcohol keeping him from saying the second half to himself or even registering that it had come out. "I want to give you everything you've ever wanted in life...anything at all, your wish is my command!"

Isabelle was taking another swig of the alcohol in the bottle. She wasn’t one for drinking, matter of fact she hated the taste of it and the way it seemed to slide down her thoat so easily, even though the feel of it was more like the burning of acid. It made her cough, just a little before giving Leo another small squeeze. Than she giggled. “A wolf?” she asked.
She brought her lips close to his ear and whispered. “Wolves have fur, they also howl and travel in pac-” she hiccuped, “ks.” She wasn’t sure if Leo was just being silly or saying that because the stuffed animal she slept with every night was a wolf. Because now he knew, after all her stuffed animal’s small paw was still sticking out of the zipper on her bag.
She looked up at him expecting an answer, even if it was just the end of a cute joke. The look in her eyes was filled with love, as if it all but poured from her when she was with her boyfriend. “I love you, Leo.” She told him. It wasn’t the first time she’d thought it, after all his name was scrawled all over the pages of her diary in hearts. But this was the first time she’d said it aloud.

Leo saw Issy cough and repeat the word wolf giggling. Had he actually said that out loud? Uh oh! "Ooopsies, that's a secret, I'm not supposed to go spreading that around" Leo said leaning foward and placing one finger lightly against her lips. "Shhh, we can't tell anyones, yer the only one I can tell without gagging or dying or something " Leo said taking his hand away and waving it around as he tried to remember what he had just learned about Alpha's orders. It made his head hurt to think of, or was that the alcohol.
He laughed as Issy revealed how wolves had fur and howled and traveled in packs. "Not all wolves have packs...not til they find them, I'm a lone wolf like the lone ranger, and as for fur you haven't seen me naked yet" He said laughing again. "And I tried howling to Wolf...but he's not a wolf, he's a dog...." He said his eyes getting wider. "We should get a puppy! You and me! When we live together" He said nodding.
Leo smiled as he heard those three words come out of her lips. Even drunk, his heart felt the strength of them and the fulfillment of his destiny. "You do? Really?" He asked her smiling as he held her closer. "I love you Issy...and you wanna know another secret? We're soulmates" He whispered to her while a part of his brain that was numbed screamed You idiot! This is not how its supposed to be when you tell her. Shut up!
