Closing her eyes against the sun, Simone lay back on the towel she had spread on the sand, a gentle smile curving her lips. She loved coming to this part of the beach. It was one of the only areas where it was actually sandy and on top of that, it was in a perfect spot to catch the sun as well as being practically unused. Noone ever seemed to come here apart from her and it was always a relief to have the solitude she never had at home. She loved her parents with all her heart, but ever since her sister had died, they had become overprotective to the point of near-paranoia, always hovering over her wherever she went in the house and checking where she was. True, since she had met Cole, they had eased up a lot, trusting him to look after her, but they still seemed to almost suffocate her at times.
That was why she came here. After Sarah’s accident, she had found the little spot and begun coming here to think, when she wasn’t on the clifftop where it had happened. It gave her a chance to be away from the constant reminders of her sister. They had been afraid she would try to copy her sister, had grown concerned when she had simply carried on as if nothing had happened. But it had. A part of her had died with Sarah, leaving a hole that had only grown larger as the months had turned into years. Then, just when it had seemed too much, Cole had found her. Her beloved Cole, the sweetest thing in her life now. The smile broadened as she thought of him, the familiar sense of calm settling over her as it always did when he happened to cross her mind, which seemed to happen almost every time her thoughts weren’t focused specifically on something else. He had changed everything, healed the wound that had been eating away at her so that all that was left was scars. Now she went to the clifftop to think about the good times, to tell Sarah all that was happening in her life. She came her, not to be alone with her sadness, but to allow herself to think about how truly happy she was now. Nothing could make her life more perfect than it was.
Rolling over onto her stomach, she reached an arm round behind her, unfastening the knot on her bikini top and allowing the strings to fall to her sides. There were few enough days of sun as it was, she was going to take full advantage of the chance to work on her tan without the annoying tan lines she would have to put up with if she were anywhere else. Here, there was no chance of anyone bothering her. She could nap in peace, and that was just what she planned to do. Folding her arms, she rested her cheek on them and yawned before nestling into the towel to rest.

It was actually one of the rare sunny and nice days on the reservation. It wasn’t freezing cold, or cloudy or rainy. With the nice weather, Cole knew he wanted to spend the day outside. There had been so many times as a kid that he was too sick to go outside, even when the weather was beautiful that now if he had the chance, he enjoyed just being able to go and do normal things, like go for a walk, or go sit on the beach.
He hadn’t heard from Simone today and wasn’t sure what her plans were. He didn’t want to be the overbearing boyfriend who was always showing up and calling her every second. He knew how hovering her parents could be at times and didn’t want to just add to that pressure that she felt. Cole had decided that the beach would be nice, either just sitting in the sand or maybe going for a swim. He passed a group of teenagers playing in one spot and almost joined them but realized he didn’t really know any of them, and was too shy to introduce himself. He really hadn’t made a whole lot of new friends, other than the guys in his pack, and they were more like brothers, and of course Simone. But the people who didn’t have the wolf blood in their veins…he didn’t feel like he fit in with them, so he kept walking.
As he came upon a more secluded spot, a familiar warmth washed over him as he spotted Simone lying on her towel, possibly asleep on her stomach. As he walked closer he saw that her back was bare, was she topless? The thought immediately made him blush and look down, not wanting to stare, but not able to help giving another quick glimpse up. “Sleeping or just resting…” He said softly, not wanting to wake her if she had fallen asleep. He’d be happy to just watch her sleep for awhile.

Just barely aware of her surroundings, Simone allowed the warmth of the sun and the calming sound of the waves lull her into a light doze as she lay on the towel, relishing the near silence. She drifted into unconsciousness quickly, all the stress of the past few days of constant monitoring seeping away in mere moments, making way for the most wonderful dream. She was wandering in a rose garden, the sun shining down around her, making the colours of the flowers glow vibrantly as she let her fingers trail over the silky petals. It felt like home here and she looked up. Not far ahead, she saw a familiar figure and she smiled in her sleep, turning her head to the other side to get more comfortable.
Running toward the figure, she rested a hand on its shoulder, immediately recognising the sturdiness and warmth she had grown to know and love. He turned to face her and her smile brightened when she saw the grin that was now such a part of her constant daydreaming, wrapping her arms around him tightly and leaning her head against him. A moment later, the scene changed and they were lying together on the sand at First Beach, right where she was lying now, Simone curled up against Cole’s side, a sense of perfect serenity washing over her. A slight sound broke into her sleep, soft footsteps barely disturbing the sand followed by a voice. She smiled again when she heard the gentle tone, thinking she was still dreaming. “Just resting” she murmured in her sleep to the Cole in her dream. “Don’t worry, the kids are fine” she added, the sound of the footsteps incorporating itself into her dream as a pair of small children playing in the sand around them. Her arm began to ache slightly, the circulation being cut off by her head resting on it and she turned over onto her back, sighing in her sleep as the sun began to warm her stomach. A slight breeze ruffled the strands of hair that clung to her face and she turned her head to the side, facing the dream version of her soul mate. “I love you Cole” she said softly, her lips curving into a fond smile at the words.

Cole heard Simone’s soft and somewhat sleepy voice letting him know that she was just resting through closed eyes as she turned her head in his direction. He smiled as he looked at her seeming so peaceful laying there. He was glad he hadn’t woken her up and that she seemed to be having a good day already, nice and relaxing at least, if nothing else. He hoped he could make it even better for her. She then mentioned something about kids and Cole’s face scrunched up in confusion. “You mean from work? You have today off right?” he said trying to figure out what she had meant by it and assuming the day care had to be what she was referring to though he had no idea why she was brining it up right now.
Before he could make sense of it, she turned onto her back. The bikini top that she had untied fell to the side, as she exposed herself to him topless. His eyes widened, barely hearing her say that she loved him. He stuttered back an “I…I love you too…” Before he quickly averted his eyes, feeling like he shouldn’t be staring right now. He then started worrying that someone else was going to come up, and there was no way that Cole wanted anyone else to get a viewing of his girlfriend. He looked around nervously making sure it was still void of people. He couldn’t help but let his eyes drift back up to the vision of beauty before him. He initially started to reach down, thinking he could adjust her top but he realized where he’d be reaching and felt too nervous to just go and grab her there.
He looked behind him again, seeing the place was still empty and then got another idea, quickly pulling off his t-shirt he leaned forward and placed it lightly over her chest, giving his girlfriend back a bit of her modesty. “Umm, your top it had..uh…slipped” He said, suddenly wondering if she had known what had happened and perhaps wanted to give him that view. Had he just acted incredibly stupid and turned down a great opportunity? He could practically hear Elan laughing at him already.

Simone giggled in her sleep at Cole’s words, not needing to hear them but still struck by shyness even in her dreams at the sweetness of them. “I know” she murmured before giggling again as she felt something touch her chest, tickling the skin. Swatting at it with one hand, the movement drawing her out of her sleep slightly, she caught the sound of a voice above her as her fingers brushed away the cloth they found.
“Huh?” she muttered, her eyes fluttering open as she recognised the voice. “My what? Cole!” she exclaimed, jumping up happily when her brain finally managed to process that it really was him. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she hugged him tightly, standing on her toes to kiss him, barely able to control the grin that spread across her face. “I’m so happy to see you! Ho w long have you been here? And what did you mean about my...” she stopped abruptly as she suddenly recognised the feel of his skin against hers, and not just on her arms where she would have expected it to be. Her eyes trailed slowly down from his face, her cheeks colouring a little as she took in the sight in front of her, his tanned skin setting off the muscles underneath in a way that made her breath catch in sheer amazement that he was hers. A moment later, the colour deepened as her eyes moved further downward to look at her own body and she realised that he wasn’t the only one who was topless. “Oh, I see.”
Smiling shyly, she glanced behind her on the sand where the tshirt had fallen, finally putting two and two together. He had been trying to protect her dignity. The thought sent a warm feeling through her and she bent down, picking up the tshirt and handing it to him, reaching up to kiss him again gently. “I see chivalry isn’t dead after all” she said cheerfully as her arms wrapped around him again and looked up at him, amazed at how comfortable she felt when really she should have been embarrassed beyond belief. “Sorry, I was asleep, I didn’t hear you at all” she said, glancing down again and biting her lip nervously before turning her eyes back up to meet his, a mischievous smile quirking the corners of her mouth. “So, did you see anything you liked?” she teased, chuckling softly. “Do I meet with your approval? Or should I be worried that you were so keen not to see anything?”

It wasn’t more than a moment that the tshirt covered Simone’s torso that she brushed it off and her chest was once again shown bare to him. Like any man he did take another glance, feeling flush with the shyness he was feeling at such a bold movement on her part. She was stunningly beautiful, but he wasn’t used to seeing so much of her. “Okay…you don’t like the shirt” He said nervously, not sure what else to say at the moment but fighting to keep from staring too much or looking like a bumbling fool who had no experience whatsoever with women.
When she finally opened her eyes he realized that she hadn’t just been flirting with him, but had been acting in her sleep. He felt even more guilty now for having looked at her, when she had no idea it was even happening at the time. He expected her to grab the shirt or her towel to cover herself quickly but instead she jumped up and ran into his arms. He put his arms around her, feeling her bare chest pressing against his, making his heart beat faster as he leaned down for a kiss. Even though it was just a light kiss, it felt so much intimate in their current state of undress.
He watched her realize that she was exposed as she looked down, and the blush appeared on her cheeks. “I’m sorry…I umm..I tried to cover you…but I didn’t realize you were asleep”
He said smiling as she complimented his chivalry and mentioned how she was sleeping. She bent to pick up his shirt, and handed it back to him. He was surprised that even at this point, she didn’t care about covering herself. She must have figured by this point he had seen it all anyway. “You talk in your sleep..and answer questions too….I’m sorry I didn’t realize you were sleeping…I shouldn’t have…” He said about to say looked, but not wanting to point out the fact that he had when he was sure it was obvious.
He looked down ashamed and hoping she wouldn’t be angry with him. But instead her voice was playful as she asked if it met with his approval. His eyes widened slightly as he looked up into her eyes and leaned forward giving her another kiss, deeper this time. When he pulled back he smiled at her. “I liked everything that I saw.” He assured her. “It was a very unexpected, yet pleasant surprise”

“It’s alright, that was sweet of you” Simone soothed, smiling up at him. It was just like Cole to be worried about her modesty like that and to be such a gentleman about it all. Most guys, from what she could tell, would have made some kind of sleazy remark, or tried to grope her. Instead, he had thought about her wellbeing instead. It really was sweet. “But you know, you didn’t need to” she said softly, one hand running over his bicep, marvelling as always that someone who had been so ill could be so strong now. “There’s nothing I have that you wouldn’t have seen eventually anyway, so there’s no reason to hide it from you.”
Tilting her head, she frowned a little, confused, his words sinking in at last. “I do? What did I say?” she asked, her hearbeat picking up as she tried to remember her dreams. Had she said anything she shouldn’t have? It worried her, not knowing whether she had said anything that might have offended or embarrassed him. He was so sensitive, it would have been easy to say something that would strike a nerve and she would never forgive herself if she had done so, intentional or not. Still, he didn’t seem upset, only a little shy, so she held onto the hope that she hadn’t stuck her foot in her mouth again.
As he looked back up at her, his eyes wide, she chuckled at the look on his face, the sound dying quickly as he leaned toward her again and kissed her. She closed her eyes, her arms reaching up to wrap around his neck again. Sighing, she opened her eyes as he pulled away, a twinge of disappointment running through her at the loss of the contact. “I’m glad you did” she said , chuckling again, her eyes shining cheekily as she reached up, her lips next to his ear as she whispered. “After all, it is all yours” she murmured, kissing his neck softly before pulling back again. Despite feeling perfectly at ease, she couldn’t ignore the sense of surprise at herself for her brazen behaviour, something she never would have considered at any other time. At the moment, though, she simply couldn’t help herself. Something had come over her and she wasn’t sure she minded it at all.

Cole smiled as she called him sweet for his attempt to protect her modesty. At least she didn’t think he was weird for not having just enjoyed the moment, or that he was a creep for having looked at all. He looked at her a little confused as she said that he didn’t need to as she touched his arm. Maybe she was used to sunbathing topless but it wasn’t something he was used to seeing. He blushed as she told him it was something he’d have seen eventually anyway. He loved hearing her talk about their future, the two of them knowing they’d be together the rest of their lives, and not having to worry about if it would work out, because they were destined to be together. “I wasn’t sure you were ready for me to see anything yet” he told her honestly.
He smiled as she asked about what she said in her sleep. “Nothing much really, I was just surprised you could answer questions while still dreaming” He told her laughing lightly. “You told me that you were just resting, not asleep…you said you loved me” He said smiling wider. “And that you knew I loved you too” He said the thought warming his heart.
Cole couldn’t help but look at her in awe as she told him that it (being her body) was his. He hadn’t heard her talk this way before, but it was definitely exciting and made him feel closer to her. “And I’m yours” He told her softly. “I’ll try to take good care of it” he told her. “But if I hear anyone else coming, I’m covering you up again, I don’t want everyone getting to see the beauty I have in front of me”

Reaching up, Simone ruffled Cole’s hair fondly and chuckled. “Well, it wasn’t quite how I had pictured it, but I have no complaints. Just so long as you don’t go bragging that you got an eyeful before I did” she teased. “Besides, we both know I’m not going anywhere, so I see no reason to be shy” she said, stepping back a little so she was no longer hidden against him. If he wanted to look, she wouldn’t stop him, and if he didn’t, she wouldn’t be offended. After all, he was more modest than most, it would hardly be an insult that he was simply being polite.
“Well that’s good” she laughed with him as he commented on her sleeptalking. “You know me, always up for a conversation. Good to know I tell the truth though. I do know it, and I do love you.” The chuckle returned again as he stared at her, the expression even more comical than the one before. It was fun shocking him like this, even if it wasn’t entirely in jest. The laughter subsided as she gazed at him lovingly, a warm feeling spreading through her at his words. He was hers. “I should hope so, though I don’t see why I should worry, I’m safe in your hands” she giggled as the double meaning hit her, remembering how he had been so careful not to touch her for fear of offending her. Blushing, she glanced down, the compliment bringing back a touch of her usual shyness. “Not that beautiful” she corrected quietly, a shy smile on her face. “I doubt anyone will come here though. I’ve been coming here for a while and you’re the first person I’ve seen. But it’s fine by me, I don’t want other guys looking at me, just you.”
A moment later, she was shocking herself yet again as she stepped forwards, wrapping her arms around his waist again and kissing him deeply once more, leaning against him, the feel of his skin against hers making her heart beat faster. Everything was so completely and totally new and yet despite the slight sense of nervousness she felt, she couldn’t imagine this ever not feeling right.

Cole smiled as she ruffled his hair and said she didn’t have any complaints. “Now that I’ve seen, I’m not sure I can keep the fact that I have out of my thoughts , but I won’t be picturing it around the guys, I’ll keep that for myself” he promised her, knowing that it was hard to keep much information from the pack, the harder someone tried, the more easily it came to the forefront of their thoughts. He could only make sure he kept the imagery out of it.
As she stepped back and told him she didn’t feel shy, he couldn’t help but look down again. “You really are beautiful” He told her with a smile, before looking back up to her eyes. He always was the shy one of the two of the two of them. She had made the first move kissing him, so it seemed almost natural that she’d be the first one to feel comfortable with this as well.
He smiled again at her as she said again that she did love him. “I’m glad you’re as honest in your sleep as you are awake…maybe I can use your sleep talking to my advantage sometime, to find out embarrassing stories, or where you really hope that I take you on a date” He said with a laugh.
He watched her look down blushing and tell him that she wasn’t that beautiful. “Don’t even say that, you’re gorgeous” He told her. “And if I found my way here, someone else might too, but at least I should be able to hear them” he said smiling as she said she didn’t want any guys but him looking at her either. It was only a moment later when she stepped forward and kissed him again. He wrapped his arms around her again pulling her body close against his as he returned the kiss.

Throwing her head back, Simone laughed, the comedy of his unusual situation striking her suddenly. She had heard of guys bragging to their friends when they finally saw their girlfriends naked, or in this case, topless, always wanting to gain the upperhand. Cole and his packmates, or at least Cole himself, had the opposite problem. Rather than having to make up stories to impress each other, they had to hide their thoughts to prevent embarrassing themselves if anything particularly private took place. “You’d better not, Cole Rivers, I don’t want your little brother seeing everything you have. Bad enough he shares the less personal thoughts, don’t want him sharing those ones too.”
She flushed again as his eyes moved downwards, suddenly realising just what was happening. They had never done anything beyond kissing or cuddling, the simple comfort always enough for her and seeming to be enough for him, and all of a sudden here she was baring practically everything to him without a second thought, or a moment’s planning. He often told her she was beautiful and although she knew he meant what he said, she had never felt she deserved the compliment. Now, as he looked at her, she actually felt it for the first time in her life.
She smirked at him as he told her his ideas for her sleep-talking, knowing that if he ever wanted to know anything, all he ever had to do was ask and she would tell him anything. She couldn’t deny him anything for more than a minute, always wanting nothing more than to give him everything he wanted. With a smile, she rolled her eyes at his warning, her more mischievous side beginning to assert itself as revenge for his comment started to form itself in her brain. Seconds later, she felt goosebumps raising on her skin as he kissed her and pushed down the emotions that were starting to emerge, frightened that if she allowed them to surface in her thoughts, she might not be able to hide them. While she and Cole didn’t share the same bond in their thoughts that he and his packmates did, she never seemed to be able to hide anything from him and she didn’t want to frighten him by moving too fast.
Forcing her mind to clear, she pushed away from him gently, taking a deep breath to steady her breathing as she closed her eyes to hide the feelings she was almost sure he would see there if she wasn’t careful. Turning her back, she took a few slow steps away from him, her hands clasped behind her back as she walked deliberately as though thinking carefully. “You know I’d tell you anything you asked” she said over her shoulder, the smirk beginning to curve her lips again as she stopped. “But I should warn you” she continued, suddenly turning on her heel and running toward him, launching herself at him in a tackle and tickling him, laughing hysterically as she impacted against his solid chest. “Use my sleeptalking to find out embarassing stories, and you will pay.”

Cole could feel his cheeks take on a slightly embarrassed redness to them at the mention of his baby brother. “There’s no way I want Elan seeing any of this…Ever. “ He assured her. “Though he probably will find out that you let me look” He said knowing that being as close to his brother as he was, he’d need to share the development in his relationship. He wanted Elan to know just how happy he was, and admittedly do a little bit of bragging that he got this far with a sexy woman.
When Cole’s eyes moved back up from her chest to her face, he saw the blush on her cheeks. As much as she said she didn’t need to hide from him, he still saw a bit of the shyness that she held, which he found adorable. If she had been too overly comfortable being topless, he may have to worry more, but he liked that she felt comfortable around him.
When the kiss broke, Simone pushed herself away from Cole and turned her back to him. He wondered if he had made the kiss too intense, if perhaps she thought he was trying to take this further. He looked at her, hoping she wasn’t upset, but within a moment knew she was just playing with him, as he saw her smirking. Then suddenly she ran at him and launched herself at him. Not wanting her to hurt herself hitting a firm solid target, he allowed himself to be pushed backward, falling into the sand, pulling Simone down with him as she tickled him. He laughed and reciprocated, tickling her sides. “I think even if you make me pay I’ll enjoy it”

Nodding slightly, Simone smiled. She loved how close Elan and Cole were, it reminded her of just how dear her little sister had been to her and though she was the same age as Cole’s younger brother, she often felt the same sense of sisterly affection for Elan as she had for Sarah. Still, she was glad that there were limits to how much Cole was willing to share with his brother. She didn’t think she could face Elan if she knew he had seen her the way Cole was, even if it was just through their telepathic connection. “That’s fine, I don’t mind him knowing, I just don’t want him seeing. Though technically” she added, sticking out her tongue with a giggle, “I didn’t let you look, you looked of your own accord without my knowledge. Though I suppose I didn’t do anything to stop you so I guess it’s a moot point.”
As she landed against him, throwing her full force at his torso, she shrieked as they fell to the sand. Gasping for breath through her laughter, she tried to bat his hands away, her own hands flailing wildly as she tried to both defend herself and attack at once. His fingers had found the most ticklish places on her sides and she giggled helplessly as she attempted to use her feet to push him away. She finally managed to push herself away from him enough to move his hands away from the ticklish spots and used the reprieve to her advantage, rolling over until she was on top of him, pinning him down as she began to tickle him in earnest. “Haha!” she shouted victoriously, sounding like one of the toddlers she looked after as she attacked him. Being as strong as he was, she didn’t doubt that her advantage would be short-lived, but she was determined to make the most of it while she had it. “I had no idea you had such a sadistic side” she teased as she tickled his stomach, grinning smugly at him.

Cole shook his head as Simone said that he looked at her of without her knowledge. “I barely saw anything then, and I tried to cover you up, you’re the one that wanted to push away any bit of clothing I tried to use on you…I didn’t really look until you gave me permission” He told her. “But that visual is staying locked up in here” He said tapping at the side of his head. “Bragging rights are mine though” He grinned wondering if Elan would even believe him when he told him what happened.
Cole laughed with Simone as they both fought to tickle each other into submission. Eventually he let her pin him down as she tickled him, seeing how proud of herself she was that she had ‘won’. He laughed as she found some of the spots that he was more ticklish in. He hadn’t been tickled in years and he was sure it was probably his mother who was the last to try it on him when he was just a little kid.
As her hands moved to his stomach he bent forward, feeling more ticklish there and grabbing at her wrists. “None of its sadistic with you” He said rolling her over onto her back and moving himself on top of her pinning her hands to the sand by her sides. “Not so victorious now are we?” He grinned back at her.

“True, but I was asleep, I had no idea what I was doing. Still, I’m not complaining. In fact, in future, I don’t think you need permission” Simone said, only half teasing. “But just remember, that rule about the visuals applies to any future sightings as well. Not sure what there is to brag about though, I’m sure there’s plenty of women out there that’d gladly go topless for you” she joked, returning his grin. It meant the world to her that he thought something so small was worth bragging about and she was glad to be able to give him something in return for the ego boost he gave her, even if it was nothing more than ‘bragging rights’.
She was glad to see the smile on his face and hear his laughter as she tickled him. She knew life as a shapeshifter must be hard, having to hide who he was from anyone who wasn’t a part of that side of his life and constantly putting himself at risk by patrolling. Seeing him so happy was the most important thing to her, her way of trying to compensate for the harder parts of his life even if he never showed how stressful she was sure it must be. Simone loved the way they were able to be so childish together, watching Disney movies, playing games, having tickle fights. It was like they could both let out their most immature sides and not be ashamed of anyone thinking they weren’t acting their age. As far as she was concerned, Cole’s opinion was the only one that mattered, at least now, and if he didn’t mind her acting childishly, she saw no reason not to do so.
With a shriek of laughter, she found herself rolled onto her back, biting her lip to try and stifle the giggles that were once more growing uncontrollable. Struggling against him, she tried to free her hands to defend herself in case he decided to attack once more, the effort proving useless against his strength. “Oh I dunno” she chuckled, shrugging as best she could, “I’m not sure I’ve lost either. I don’t see much of a down side here.”
