Hearing her laugher, Blake found it beautiful but at the same time irritating. Why couldnt he just figure her out? He should snap her neck and get over it. "Always known?" He said not sure how that was even possible. Even if her parents were killed by vampires she'd either be too young to remember it or old enough that she'd remember a time when she didnt know.
Blake's eyes narrowed on her as she picked up on his comment about more control than him and asked if he was new. "I'm not the one answering the questions right now, you are" He said not about to let his meal know how young he was and get mocked by this one for the fact as he sensed she might do.
"Just tell me then and I'll be the judge of what I believe" He said as she told him that their kind rarely believed she was possible. He heard her describe her heartbeat and the reasons it was increased, not related to him according to her. "It sounds like a humans beat to me"
She knew the Volturi by name which was another worry to him and seemed afraid of them, of being collected. "A hybrid?" Blake said stunned, but his interest causing his stance to become less defensive. "How is it possible? Did you not fully turn? Something stopped it, or prevented your maker from finishing? "

“Maybe my father told me as a child, but I think I just knew.” She clarified knowing from her own memories and see Nessie that hybrid children were immensely intelligent from that she believed she’d always known. It was hard to know when she’d known that what she was was different, knowing herself to be unique was something else she’d always known, but different was something else. Jayden could remember the first time she knew what she was made her vulnerable and put her in danger, for that she’d been little more then 3 or 4. Before all that Jayden just believed her father did what all fathers did having no comparison.
From the narrowing of his eyes Jayden doubted she wasn’t going to get a straight forward answer about his age and from that she gained he was out of the new born phase and able to think. Structured thought took focus something no new born Vampire had. “I’m answering you questions, doesn’t that grant me one or two of my own for you?” She asked with a smile just as alluring as his had been in the hope of the same effect on him.
Would he believe her? Would he even believe she was possible? She sensed he was strong and made up his own mind, something she hoped would help sway him to her thoughts. “You’ll make up your own mind, I can see that in you.” Her heart rate may have increased a little due to him and his presence, but not much. “its faster then a human’s. More of a flutter then a beat.” She clarified.
As he questioned her Jayden realized it was going to take more explaining, what he asked she didn’t even know if that was possible. “I wasn’t turned, I was born.” She stated hoping that would clear up a lot of his questions. “My makers were my parents. A human mother and a vampire father. He loved her and I was the result or consequence depending on your view.” She said with a sad smile, she was occasionally still prone to doubt of her own creation and out come of it.
Looking down from him for a second she spoke quietly, it would have been to quiet had he been human but she knew he’d hear. “whatever you do to me, you can’t tell anyone of my existence. They would kill me or worst.” She said knowing that he would know who ‘They’ were.

"A father who tells his child vampires are real and not just fiction? Seems a little backwards" Blake commented knowing most parents told their children monsters like this were just things of movies, and not to be afraid. "Preparing you for the real world, or just being cruel? " He wondered, thinking that her father must not have lasted very long once the Volturi found out he was telling children.
"You're nothing more than food, that doesnt grant you anything" He told her, but watched her alluring smile with interest. "But because I'm in a generous mood, giving you a few extra moments to live an all, maybe I'll give you a couple...I'm old enough to have knowledge and control of my capabilities"
"Faster than a humans?" He questioned her description of her heartbeat. "Fear usually produces increased heart rate. Adrenaline pumping through the veins" He said remembering it from Biology class a few years earlier. "Is this some kind of trick? You know what I am and think you can talk your way free? "
He was stunned, and confused and in disbelief as she shared how she came into being. He didnt even think it was possible that a vampire could father a child. It explained the reason he wasnt thirsting for her blood, but it still seemed too unreal to be true. "How is that even possible...I've never heard of anything like that...what does that make you then? Alive but strong? "
He saw her look down and saw more fear and apprehension now than he had when he first showed up. She told him not to tell anyone, and knew she was right about what would happen to her. "I'm not one of them...and I have no intention on seeking them out to be their informant...dont worry" He added the last part softer, almost feeling sorry for her now.

Talking with him about her father was not a subject Jayden was comfortable with, nor was she ok with listening to him pass judgment on her father. “You don’t know anything about him, if you did you would watch your tongue.” She said harshly, not caring for his tone or his words. “This is the real world, one I was born into. He was teaching me with truth.” she told him flatly.
His words told her he wasn’t a new born if he could control himself long enough to talk to her when he was so sure she was his next meal. “I doubt I’ll taste very good, so maybe you should wait for something more to your liking.” She smirked wondering what a hybrid’s blood tasted like. Jayden had little to compare the taste of blood having only ever remembered animal blood and never thirsting for a human. “How old are you?” She asked.
“I’m not scared of you.” she told him in response to his explanation for her increased heart beat, “This is the natural rhythm of my heart.” She explained then scoff as he accused her of it been a trick. “Of course, I’m just a silly human thinking quickly enough to lie to a predator to save my life.” She laughed lightly before continuing. “Most humans would see you as pure romance, they’ve turned Vampires from monsters in to dark sides lovers. If I were human I’d be asking you to take me.” she half mocked thinking of Bella and her relationship to Edward.
Of course he hadn’t heard of her kind, there were so few that no one had heard of them. To the vampire world they were myth and lies. “A rarity. My father had great restraint, but my mother wasn’t strong enough to carry me. I thirsted for blood and was too strong for her body, eventually it killed her.” She said in explanation hating him to think that he existence wasn’t without sacrifice. “Few call me a hybrid, but I’m not sure what it makes me except very confused most of the time.” Jayden felt herself relaxing enough to be almost open with this Vampire, or as open as she had been with anyone.
The Volturi scared her as they scared, or at least worried, most of their kind. His voice was softer, almost reassuring to her as he finished his sentence., Jayden nodded to him and half smile. “Thank you.” She said looking at him searching for any sign of what he’d do next. She knew he was in need of blood, his eyes dark and his thirst awakened no doubt when he thought he co could eat her. Did he still thirst for her? “What now? Do you intend to fight me?” She asked knowing she wouldn’t go down without a fight, but also wondering how else their meeting could go.

Jayden's harsh tone didn't affect Blake as she spoke to him, defending her father. "He was teaching you things that could get you killed. Truth or not most people have more preservation instincts than that for their young"
He gave a slight chuckle as she said she wouldnt taste very good. "You're not smelling that appetizing, but you're the lucky chosen one...but you have taught me that talking makes me much less hungry. I'll know for next time" He said knowing that was a lesson he could take from this. "How old do I look?" He turned the question back on her.
"You should be" He responded to her comment about not being scared of her. He took another step closer to her as she explained how humans now saw Vampires as something of romance. "Maybe you should be trying to change my mind and get me to take you..save your life. Your heart beats, it makes you prey to my predator"
Blake tried to understand everything she was telling him about what she was, though he had never heard of it before. He had to be open minded to it, even being a rarity. He wouldnt have thought Vampires existed 5 years ago. Why couldnt half vampire babies be born as well. "So you live in the woods? Like a nomad?" He asked her curiously.
He saw her smile after his assurances he wouldnt tell the Volturi about her. He gave his own smile back, a kinder one than the cocky one he had arrived with. "You're welcome" He saw her looking at him for his next move before asking if he intended to fight her. "Now I don't know what to do with you. " He told her honestly. "Though I suppose I don't have to worry about you spreading around that a vampire let you go" He said with a smirk, remembering his initial desire to let her go, had she not seen too much and he been so thirsty.

“He kept me safer then you’ll ever know.” She retorted with the same harsh tone she used before knowing her father had kept her safe from both Human and Vampire. If either had known about her she knew she’d be dead.
Hearing his chuckle Jayden wondered what could come from such a changing mood, she knew his inability to stay focused on an emotion or even the task of feeding could be proof that he wasn’t as far from the new born stage as his banter was making him seem. “Then I’ve taught the youth in you something.” she taunted knowing she was probably a lot older them him in Vampire years if not in the appearance of life. “You look little more then early 20s, but appearances are deceptive. How old do I look?”
Jayden saw nothing romantic in their kind and wondered how Bella, or any other teenage girl had been caught up in the love of a vampire world. “Even if it were possible I wouldn’t want it. Did you want it before it took you?” She asked wondering if he’d sought out a life like the one he had now or if it had been a curse to him. “I’m not your prey anymore then I could be your predator.” She stated hoping it to be true that he couldn’t still thirst for her.
“Not in the woods, no, but close by. The woods are where I hunt and feed.” She told him knowing too much information could be dangerous for her in the furture, but prepared to offer information in the interest of polite conversation. “I’m not a nomad, though I was for many years before I came here. And you, you’re a Nomad?” He didn’t seem it to her, wearing shoes and appearing more tame then the other nomads she’d seen, but she also didn’t catch the scent of a coven or mate close by.
His honesty shocked her into a blank look as he spoke. Her mind raced wondering if she should tell him there was a whole coven in the area that he should be careful of or tell him she had to tell them about him been there. “Nor do I have to worry you’ll be telling people about your run in with a semi human who knew about your world. Seems we’re even on keeping each other’s secrets.” She said nodding and stepping a step towards him. “I’m Jayden.” She said offering her hand craving a touch from him as she remember his lips so close to her neck.

Blake smirked as she suggested that it was the youth in him that she taught something too. He hadn't considered himself to be a youth since he was turned. Somehow losing his life had made him feel older, even if he knew he was young in the new world of vampires he was a part of. He chuckled again as she guessed his age, it was close to his actual age, not his turned age. He wondered if that was perception on her part, or just that he had looked mature for his age even as a human? "Not too far off the mark" He told her. He shook his head as she asked him how old she looked. "There's no right answer to that for women is there? But regardless I'll play along..I'd say you're mid twenties. "
His smile faded as she said how she wouldnt want to be turned and turned the question onto him, if he had wanted this before he was changed. He didnt want to think of the life he once had, it wasn't him anymore. "We can't always choose our lot in life, but all we can do is make the most of what we're given"
"You don't live in the woods? In town? Among humans? " He asked confused and a bit bewildered at the thought that someone who was even half of what he was would do that. "So you hunt here...what exactly are you hunting? Do you eat like us or them? Are you just a human with strengths? or a Vampire with weaknesses? " He said still trying to make sense of the enigma that was her. "Nomad, Wanderer, or maybe just someone who hasn't found his spot to settle down...I don't know"
Blake hadn't known how to react now, when she had asked him what he'd do. The only thing he could do was give her honesty, that he wasn't sure anymore. His initial intentions were gone, and he was left with questions instead. He didn't like that she seemed to think she also had something on him to keep him from telling her secrets. He hadn't broken any rules. She was not human so he was not letting a human go free with their secret. But he wasn't turning her into the Volturi either, but only because he didnt want to have a run in with them himself. She told her name and he looked at her tentatively. "I'm Blake...and not quite even, but I have no reason to tell anyone about you"

Even his chuckle was pleasurable, Jayden really couldn’t take her eyes from him. She smiled and nodded as he told her her assessment of his age wasn’t too far away, though he didn’t say which age. “So would that be your age now, or before you became what you are?” She asked without using the term Vampire.
“That’s true.” She nodded, though she wouldn’t be offended by his assessment of her age whichever way. “Mid twenties, no.” She said, she knew that’s how she looked but that wasn’t her actual age. “Much older and younger.” She smiled at the double meaning and the duel roles she played.
As his smile faded she worried if she’d upset him or worst angered him. “There is little we can chose, but we can always chose how we receive those things.” She agreed hoping to appease his mood and any damage to that she may have done.
“I have a house, a home. It’s a little way from town, but it suits me. I attended school too.” She said without thinking what information. When the question of food arose Jayden wrinkled her nose, the idea of them as food repulsed her though she’d admit she was curious. “I hunt animals, large game, but never humans. I have a thirst for blood, just like you, but not the same blood.” She said trying to answer his questions, “I’m not sure as to where I lie, if I’m more human or vampire with the draw back of each. I can say that I don’t wish to be put to the test of either.” She said honestly.
Could she be his place? Could he settle with her? Jayden wasn’t even sure why the questions entered her head. She knew she should want the nomadic traditional Vampire gone where he couldn’t hurt her or expose her and the Cullens. “Perhaps you havent been looking in the right places.” She said gently not edging him to leave or stay.
Blake, even his name was perfect for him. Wild like the scent she got from him. “Thank you.” She said as he said he had no reason to tell anyone about her. She didn’t want to leave now, though she knew that should be the next move. She should go and tell the Cullens of the new comer, but she didn’t want to be away from him. “Why did you come here, to this town I mean?” She asked wanting to prolong their communication.

"Current age, from birth til now" Blake told her, though really it seemed almost as though becoming a vampire, being turned, had been like a second birth. A new life was given to him when he awoke as what he was now. He saw the world with new eyes. Experienced everything to such a greater depth. It was hard to think of his life as continual from its human form. It would be easier to compare it to reincarnation.
"Care to tell me how far off my guess was?" Blake questioned, wondering if she would give him the details like that. He also wondered how aging worked in a creature like herself. Perhaps he was wrong in his initial assumption that she must be talking about being older than he guessed, perhaps she aged quickly and was in fact appearing older than her years told.
Though Jayden tried to appease him as he thought about being changed none of it seemed like a choice to him. "Sometimes we only have but one choice of how to receive things, there's no choice but to accept and make the most of it"
Blake was surprised to feel the sense of yearning tugging at his heart as she mentioned a home near town and attending school. The memories of his glory days in high school flooded back in an almost painful manner, as well as thoughts of his family who he knew were a mere half hours run(for him) away. "I guess you're mostly human then" He concluded based on how she lived and even fed on animals.
As she suggested that he wasn't looking in the right places the jealousy he felt for her own lifestyle crept through. "Not all of us can live near town and go to school...at least not without causing a massacre and too much unwanted attention"
"You're welcome" He responded to her thanks for his secrecy. She asked why he was here and he was wondering if this would when she would ask him to leave, claim the area as her own territory, having a residence nearby. "It's close to where I'm from...but not too close"

“I am in my 40s, but human aging. Though I’ll stay with way forever, we think.” She said going back to her father and now Carlisle’s understanding of how Hybrids aged. She wondered if her age was really a factor or if any of their ages even mattered, her father had aged to hundreds as Carlisle and others had, but even she was little more then a baby by their years. “Does my age bother you?” She asked curious as to what he thought of her age and her. “And some of us aren’t given a choice. I’m sure the vampire who turned you didn’t ask, just as I didn’t ask to be born to this.” She said though she agreed with view of accepting what they were given. Jayden had long since accepted and come to terms with what she was, but she knew it was all a matter of view. “Though I accept what I am and don’t think I’d choose different if ever given the choice, would you?” She wondered if he regretted his turning as many of their kind did, though that regret was usually in hind sight of their killings.
The term made her want to disagree, “I’m a perfect half, I can’t be more one then the other. Leaning towards one or the other only causing problems.” She said sadly from experience, “I have to keep a balance.” She was telling herself more then him, warning herself that leaning towards Blake would be as bad as when she leant towards Caleb.
She laughed, she’d had her share of unwanted attention. “You’re right, but who said I don’t draw attention too. I’m different just like you, my looks, movement, diet, complexion; all make me stand out. Just because I don’t want to kill my class mates, doesn’t help me blend in.’ it was true, her looks and oddities made her a freak as much as a Cullen sibling or other of their kind trying to be human.
“You’re local?” She asked wondering if it was hard to be so close to home, but unable to go home. Jayden had never returned to her birth place, nor her mother’s home for fear of the feelings it would invoke. “You should be careful you’re not recognized.” She advised.
