{.....Post Breaking Dawn.....Seattle Airport.....}
Three days orientation in Florida had been a gentle introduction to the American culture and language; whoever knew certain phrases could mean such different things in different countries. Lyndal knew she was going to have to watch her words as well as her accent, some Americans just didn’t seem to get it.
It may have been a gentle introduction, but in the whole three days she didn’t get to the beach once. Between forms, tours and group dinner the beach seemed to have been missed out of the itinerary. Phone calls to home had been mandatory along with supplied phone cards to ease in the culture shock; Lyndal had opted to call her parents in New York (She already spoke to Sarah on her cell several times). Calling home had been formality and polite small talk, when Lynnnie had asked about Laurie she’d been brushed off and told he was fine, just busy.
Small talk was the only real conversations she had with her parents since they left Australia, and texts and emails was the extent of her communication with Laurie. Thinking about Lyndal figured that was why she needed a year away; if she left they could try to keep in touch with her, and to escape the old pictures of the happy family that faded quickly once they left.
The flight to the small airport outside of Forks, Washington was pushed back and eventually announced as delayed due to a technical issue. Arriving on time was a fact Lyndal had always tried to live by, the plane been delayed annoyed her. It annoyed her more because she knew her new host family would be waiting at the other end. Several times she checked with the gate attendant, only to be told no news but reassures they were working on it and the message had been passed on to the destination airport.
Four and a half hours after their expected departure the flight was finally boarded. Lyndal trudged up the gang way trailing the other passengers, her eyes fixed on the guide book of Washington she’d bought at the bookstore while waiting. The book advised Seattle as a must see boasting Japanese Gardens, Recycled cycle tours and the space needle, Lyndal was liking the place more and more just reading about it.
As she took her seat on the crowded plane she listened to other passengers grumble about the delays as the air hostess rattled out the safety procedures. As the planes wheels finally left the Florida tarmac Lyndal settled back into her book and passed the flight planning her itinerary for the coming year.
By the time the plane doors opened and Lyndal stepped into the airport, she could barely contain her excitement. To her it felt as if she was bouncing with the excitement and anticipation of what was to come, glancing around Lyndal was satisfied no one was looking at her strange; her emotions were well contained.
The wait for baggage was eternal, once again Lyndal felt badly for her host family having to wait for her. Did they wait? Just as she felt guilty for the late flight she also felt nervous that they may have left, assumed her a no show.
Grabbing her suitcase and her hold all bag Lyndal raced towards the lounge following the exit signs and hoping they hadn’t left her. Pushing open the door while juggling her suitcase and bag Lyndal glanced around while trying to move out of the steady, but thin flow of fellow passengers.
Who was meeting her? She didn’t know. Lyndal had seen pictures of the host family in her welcome pack that was buried at the bottom of her case but she wasn’t sure who to look for. Glancing around slightly panic and feeling tired from all the waiting Lyndal tried not to give into either emotion as she searched the room that served as the arrival lounge.

Though Nash knew that her plane was delayed from the computer screens overhead, he didn’t learn of this information until he actually got to the airport. It was over an hour away, and by the time he was there he knew it wasn’t worth going back home and coming later. Too much wasted gas that way. So he sat off in a corner of the lounge and waited. Aunt Ru had agreed to watch Travis and get him his dinner if Nash would go and pick up their exchange student. Nash wasn’t sure why exactly they wanted to be a host family to someone from another country, but he couldn’t complain.
The night before Travis had decided he’d be the one to make the sign that would get her attention when she arrived since they didn’t know what she looked like. The sign just had her first name on it Lyndal, in handwriting that was a bit messy (as Travis was still learning how to write his letters), and the d looked like it was squished in as an afterthought having been forgotten the first time through. There was lots of glitter on the sign which had gotten onto Nash’s jeans as he carried the sign into the airport. Travis also had a couple pictures on the side, his attempt at drawing a plane, and a kangaroo which looked more like a dog with a stomach problem. But he had tried, and Nash loved him for doing that. He promised his son he’d use the sign since Travis wasn’t able to go with him tonight to get her.
Despite knowing that the plane was delayed, the time still seemed to drag on and with three empty cups beside him that used to hold coffee from one of the airport vendors. Nash still had ended up falling asleep in his seat. He was slumped over with his arms crossed in front of his chest and the sign with Lyndal’s name propped up against him, facing the direction of the gates. Being a full time father and working at the autoshop all day made him almost constantly exhausted. Plus their was also that little thing called Patrolling that he had to fit in as a wolf, and somehow convince his aunt and uncle to babysit at odd hours when he couldn’t use work as the excuse for needing someone to watch Travis. He was running on empty, so as he caught a nap in the airport, he didn’t even see the plane he was waiting for begin to unload.

Glancing around the lounge Lyndal looked for anyone who looked like they were looking out for someone, but in an airport everyone was waiting for someone and seeking people out. All around the sterile groups of people embraced and swapped bags as they reconnected with love ones; Lyndal saw no one.
As the crowds thinned out Lyndal stepped out further and looked around some more. At first her eyes passed over the slumped forward figure whose body supported some glittery advertisement. She looked to the exit doors, glanced back at the doors she’d walked through and then let her eyes scan the rooms again. This time when her eyes came to rest on the slumped figure she read his glittering sign.
Lyndal, the D squeezed in as if forgotten. The paper bearing her name was filled with glitter and doodles of a child, instantly she assumed it must be drawn by the child she’d be sharing the house with. Lyndal smiled at the effort the child had taken, adorable she though smiling again.
The man holding the sign was sleeping, slumped forward and oblivious to the world around him. A few locks of hair covered his most of his face and Lyndal didn’t want to wake him. She couldn’t blame him for sleeping after the long wait he’d obviously endured. Lyndal was sure this must be the nephew of the family and father of the child, he looked to young to be the head of the family. His worn jeans were marked with glitter that had fallen off the made name card, he was now almost as glittery as the card itself.
Lyndal shifted her bag on her shoulder and pulled her suitcase behind her as she made her way towards the sleeping man. She wasn’t sure how to wake him, or what to say. Instead she moved till she was stood just in front of his sleeping form, dropping her back and standing up her case she gently cleared her throat with a slight cough. “Excuse me. Hi.” She stammered her Australian accent spilling out with the words, then a little louder she added, “Erm, hello..sorry to wake you. I think you’re here for me.” She said with a smile waiting for him to wake.

The melodic sound of the accented female voice gently woke him from his slumber. It wasnt like the sound of an alarm clock, annoying you until you'd do anything to stop the incessant beeping, or the jarring nature of someone waking you, or even the moment of panic when he was woken by his son's cries. her voice was soothing and peaceful, and almost able to keep him in his dreaming state. A small smile appeared on his face feeling comforted by the voice until a moment later when his brain registered what was going on.
The voice, kind as it was, was the woman he was hear to meet. And from his dissarray, Nash knew he must have dozed off. Immediately he willed himself to open his eyes, and look up at the woman, feeling horrible that this was her first impression not only of him, but of an American family she was sent to live with.
As Nash looked up at her his mouth opened to begin apologizing but he was stunned momentarily into silence by her beauty as their eyes locked. The draw that he felt to her in that moment was instantaneous and like no force he'd ever felt before. "I....I'm sorry..I must have dozed off. I'm glad you found me" He said, not able to take his eyes off of her.
She was like an angel descended from heaven. He wasnt sure he was even worthy of being in her presence. But he knew it was more than her beauty that drew him to her, even if he didnt know what else their was to her yet. His soul had identified its partner, the one it had been searching for all his life, as if seperated at the moment of creation. It only took him a moment to realize he had imprinted. Any doubts he had about Michelle having been his imprintee were soon gone. No other woman could have made him feel like this.
Nash stood up and quickly gave her another apologetic smile for having been asleep during her arrival. He held out his hand in greeting. "I'm Nash, you're staying with my family" He said, feeling like the luckiest man on earth that she'd be going home with him tonight.

It seemed to take her greeter a few moments to register presence, Lyndal simply stood smiling as he seemed to come around slowly. It was sweet to watch, like someone waking up peacefully form a deep sleep. Lyndal was envious of his ability to sleep in the middle of an airport, something she hadn’t been able to do yet this guy was away with the fairies.
The minute he opened his eyes and looked up at her Lyndal couldn’t tear her eyes his, she simply stared into his blue eyes and smiled. Lyndal couldn’t look away form his eyes, but she knew if she did he would be handsome, even if a little sleepily disheveled. “Sorry.” She muttered trying once more to look away form him as she glanced down at her bags. The last think she wanted was for her host family to think she was some freak who stared a lot.
As the man apologized Lyndal let her eyes be drawn back to his face this time his lips as he apologized and explained a little. His lips puckered as he spoke, thinning slightly as his words rested. Her eyes travel up his face no matter how hard she tried to pull them from him. His cheek bones rounded perfectly and ingrained with laughter lines that made Lyndal smile.
“Oh..erm its fine. I was late…I mean the…the…” Lyndal stammered and blushed instantly cursing herself for not concentrating on her words. Staring above his head and noticing how soft his hair looked, she composed herself with a deep breath. “The plane was delayed, I can understand you napping.” She smiled looking back at him cautiously.
Looking back at him was a mistake, instantly her eyes were lost in his face again. He was amazingly handsome. Sexy. Lyndal let her eyes roam his face feeling her heart beat quicken and her face stay warm from the blush at her stammered words, but now it was a glow more then a blush.
Lyndal knew she wasn’t drawn to just his looks, there was something in her that felt him on a different level. Maybe it was lack of sleep, or a little homesick; whatever it was Lyndal knew it was stupid. Love at first sight was a fallacy, a joke, not a chance meeting in an airport. Yet standing there in front of this man, Lyndal couldn’t explain what else it was she was feeling.
As this glitter covered stood Lyndal let her eyes follow his movement, it was almost as if her eyes were stuck on him. His hand reached out towards her and she matched his gesture even though she wanted, and would have preferred, to hug. A whole body contact to test the feelings, but Lyndal knew that would be strange for both of them. “I’m Lyndal.” She smiled shaking his hand. Nash’s hand was warm, even warmer then Lyndal had expected but not unwelcome or unappealing.
“Sorry ot have kept you waiting. I hope meeting me didn’t keep you from anything.” She said smiling and reluctant to release his hand. When Lyndal finally let go she reach down for her bags as she spoke, “So I guess I’m living with you and the artist.” She said looking up at him and she nodded to her name sign.

Nash noted the patience which the young woman used when waiting for him to fully wake up and realize what had happened. Most teenage girls would have simply been annoyed at having to wait at all, but she seemed very relaxed and calm. Her nature was as good as her looks.
He heard her apologize, for what he could only assume was for waking him and shook his head quickly. “No, no my fault..I guess I took advantage of the extra plane delay time…I’m glad you noticed the sign though, I would hate to have you think no one showed up” He said with a quick smile, hoping it would forgive his discourteous way of first meeting her, asleep when he should have been waiting welcomingly.
“Its not your fault the plane’s delayed, unless you’re the pilot, which if that’s the case they really should have let us know we were having a captain staying with us” he rambled, still feeling drawn to her, and knowing he was making a fool out of himself because of the feelings that were running through him. He couldn’t believe that this was happening to him, even though he knew the feelings from hearing them from the other pack members. He hadn’t expected to ever experience imprinting himself. He thought that he had either missed his chance to imprint with Michelle, or that he was one of the wolves that didn’t have one. He had a son, he didn’t think he’d get lucky and have a soul mate too. What woman, even an imprintee, would want a guy with a kid? Single dad? His mind was already running away with him, 10 steps ahead of where it should be as he tried to refocus himself on the task at hand; making a good first impression.
Nash swallowed nervously as he looked at her, unable to take his eyes from her. He wondered if she knew anything and looked at her with a slight curiousity before realizing that would only confuse her more. He forced himself to look down at the bags instead as he thought. Since he never heard the thoughts of the imprintees, only their wolf partners, he didn’t know what if anything they actually felt. The other guys had lucked out, but would he? What if he was mistaking this feeling? He knew immediately that was wrong, there could be no stronger feeling than what he felt right now. It was the only thing he was sure of. The only other time he had felt love like this was when he held his son for the first time.
Nash looked back up, meeting her eyes as she introduced herself and returned his handshake. “Lyndal, such a beautiful name” He said, trying not to sound like a sleazy pickup line. He could feel the soft, tender, warmth of her touch. He didn’t want to ever let go of her hand and even more he wanted to take her into his arms. However he knew that he’d have to let her go. After holding her hand just a moment longer than would have normally been acceptable for a handshake he reluctantly let go.
“No, its fine…I didn’t mind waiting, got some rest” Nash said, not wanting her to feel bad in the least about him waiting. He’d have waited for eternity if he thought there was even a chance of finding someone he’d feel this way about. The thought returned to him again that they’d be sharing the same roof. It seemed odd, but sent his heart into summersaults thinking about how close they’d be. He’d be living with the woman he loved. He was in love with all his heart. He saw her reaching down for her bags. “Let me take those for you” he said offering to help as he reached over to take them from her. He laughed lightly as she commented on the artist of the sign. “Yeah, that’s from Travis. He’s back home, but wanted it to be the first thing you saw when you got off the plane…I’m glad you were able to make out that it was for you” he said knowing that his son’s handwriting needed some improvement.

Lyndal stood waiting patiently as he woke up, when he finally looked up at her she realized she would have waited for an eternity. Most guys his age would probably have left her because of such a huge delay, but he’d waited. Lyndal didn’t care if he’d slept or paced, she was just glad he was there.
His quick smile lit up his face and as soon as it faded she wanted to see it again and see more of it. “I wish I could sleep anywhere, I didn’t sleep at all on the plan. See I was reading this book, and there were people talking and it was noisy. But the book was so engrossing…” Lyndal stopped when she realized she was babbling pointlessly. Stopping she smiled and shrugged a little, “Sorry I babble sometimes.” She admitted with a weak smile that broke down to her biting her bottom lip. No matter how embarrassed she felt she couldn’t look away from him.
His joke was sweet and it did make her feel better. “No I’m no pilot, just a high school kid.” She smiled “Hope that’s not too disappointing, I mean my dad used to say I could drive people mad….so I’m a chauffeur if that helps.” She smiled and laughed lamely at her little joke feeling more and more stupid by the second; great first impression.
Lyndal knew she should turn away, but she couldn’t make herself do it. In books love at first sight was always mutual and magical, not one sided and dorky. No matter how this feeling felt, Lyndal knew it wasn’t a stupid crush or a simply physical thing, something was pulling her to him she only hoped he felt it too. She knew nothing about him apart form that he was a single dad and older then her, yet Lyndal wanted to know everything about him and more.
As Nash looked down at the bag Lyndal let her eyes look down too. It wasn’t a whole lot for the year of new experiences she had in front of her; Sarah had told her they had stores in Washington. And from the guide book she’d been reading on the plan Lyndal knew most of her clothes weren’t going to be very compatible with the weather; first item on the list had to be a raincoat.
“I travel light.” Lyndal said lightly as they both stared at her two bags, “I mean you guys have shops right?” She asked jokingly trying to appear a little less strange with the staring and babbling.
Beautiful name, she’d hated it mostly. Hated the nickname her family shortened it too, Lynnie, she always thought it sounded like a complete kangaroo name, very Australian. “Thanks, it means waterfall.” She said, it was the same thing her mother had told her plenty of times. “Most people call me Lynnie, but I hate it.” She said straight up not wanting to sound rude, just honest.
When Nash let go of her hand it instantly felt cold, empty and missing something. She wanted his hand back and more. Lyndal couldn’t help but be embarrassed by the thoughts of wanting to be in his arms, her body close to his. Never before had Lyndal had such thoughts about a guy, least of all one she’d just met. “Nash, is that short for something?” She asked wanting to know more about him and liking the sound of his name on her lips.
“Well I’m glad my delay helped you out.” She smiled happy her wasn’t annoyed at her delay. He was so handsome and intriguing Lyndal was having trouble concentrating all she could keep thinking about was that he was going to be part of her host family, and all she wanted to be was closer to him then even that offered. “So you drew the short straw, huh, coming to get me?” She smiled not offended or self conscious about who picked her up. Amazing how she’d gone from worrying about no one been there to get her, to been glad the sleeping guy was her ride, host family and love of her life.
Reaching down to get her bags she smiled as Nash reached out to get them for her. Her hand brushing his, the warmth of his skin sending tingles across the surface. “Thanks, there not to heavy.” She said righting herself and looking at him, “I think most of my clothes will be totally wrong for the weather though after reading the guide book, it says it rains more then 300 hundred days of the year…Sorry, I’m…” Lyndal stopped and looked away form him knowing she’d rambled again.
When she looked back her eyes rested on the greeting sign as she spoke. “I was the first thing I saw, very eye catching.” She smiled and reached out to grab it, it was the least she could do for him carrying her bags, “Will he be awake when we get back to your house?” She asked wanting to meet the artist and the important member of Nash’s life.

Nash was relieved that Lyndal didn’t appear to be angry about him having fallen asleep. It could have made for a very rocky start to their…friendship? Relationship? Imprinteeship? He wasn’t sure how he should define what they had at the moment. They were strangers yet he felt closer to her than any other woman he’d ever meet in his life. He briefly wondered if it was the imprinting that was causing her to be so lenient over his sleeping?
“I seem to be able to sleep anywhere these days” Nash commented, knowing it was true that since Travis came along, falling asleep was never a problem. He was always worn out and tired. But he wouldn’t give it up. He felt a bit guilty as she spoke of having not been able to sleep on the plane. She had been traveling all day and must be exhausted by now. He smiled as he listened to her ramble on about the book. Despite what she may have thought, he wasn’t bored at all. He could listen to her talk for days and remain listening attentively. He wished she’d never stop talking to him. “No, please, continue” He encouraged her as she apologized for babbling. “What was the book you were reading about?” He asked, wondering what had caught her interest.
Nash smiled as she told him she was just a high school student, not a pilot and hoped he wasn’t disappointed. “Not at all. Makes me feel less intimidated. I’m just a mechanic, so nothing fancy here either” He said, wishing for a moment he had a more prestigious job to impress her with. He also wished he was still in high school, so that he could go with her, and he wouldn’t just seem like another one of the adults. He wondered now how she saw him. Would she even be interested in him? He had heard that with the legends, the wolf takes on whatever role the imprintee wants him to. What if she just wanted a friend? An acquaintance even? He then laughed at her joke about being a chauffer since she drove people mad.
Nash lifted up his eyes from her bags as she mentioned traveling light. “Yeah, we’ve got plenty of shops…not much on the rez, but close enough…I can take you shopping if you want” He immediately offered up his services.
“Waterfall…” Nash repeated, after listening to Lyndal explain the meaning behind her name. “That makes it even prettier knowing the meaning” He commented. He then nodded as he listened to her say how she hated the nickname Lynnie that most people used for her. “Got it, no calling you Lynnie.” He said, pausing a moment to think of another nickname he could use for her. “How would you feel about the nickname Dal then? “ he then shook his head embarrassed. “I’m sorry, its probably too soon for me to be giving you nicknames”
As their hands separated after the handshake, Nash felt empty. His hand felt like it had a magnet that was trying to pull him back to her, to make any sort of physical contact with her. His entire being was rebelling against him, shouting at his mind for having removed his hand from her, though his logical self knew that it was what had to be done. “Yeah, uh…Nash is short for Nashal…I’m not sure where my parents got that name though. And I don’t really mind what people call me, so whatever you’re comfortable with”
Nash smiled as she spoke about how her delay had helped him out. “It did, I’m all rested for the drive back now.” His eyes locked themselves with hers again, lost in their depths. He knew he wanted to grow old with her, to spend a life with her, and he knew how insane such thoughts were less than 5 minutes after meeting a person. “It just worked out well with timing” He replied as she spoke of him being the one to come get her. “My uncle wouldn’t have gotten out of work in time…at least when the plane was due in, to make it out here, and I’m the other one in the family with a vehicle…so my aunt stayed home to watch Travis…we weren’t sure he’d be so patient for the ride and the wait here.” He admitted, hoping she wouldn’t think him a bad parent for his son not being completely calm. “But I was glad to come” he said, having to bite his bottom lip to keep from adding that he was really glad that he was the one who came now.
“You’re welcome” Nash responded as he grabbed the bags from her to carry out to the car. It was the proper thing to do, both as a gentleman and with her being his guest. She was right, they were light, but then most things seemed light to him after his transformation. “We do get a lot of rain..you might want to go shopping soon” He said, wondering if she’d let him take her, or if she’d rather go on her own or with his aunt.
Nash couldn’t help but give a grin as she mentioned the sign being eye catching, appreciating that she was taking it instead of just leaving it behind as just a piece of paper. Nash looked down at his watch as she asked if Travis would still be awake when they got back. “Yeah, he’ll probably still be up…I have a feeling even if we got back past his bed time, he’d have conned my aunt and uncle into letting him stay up to see you”

If sleeping while waiting for her was the worst this guy could do, then Lyndal had high hopes for him been a near perfect guy. Crazy thoughts, like that, were racing through her head as she stood in front of him as he apologized for the sleeping. He was amazing, in her eyes. The coming year Lyndal knew it was going to be heard to keep her thoughts to herself. Where all local boys this handsome?
Lyndal smiled at his comment about sleep, he obviously had a full and busy life; maybe it included a girlfriend to go with the son she knew he had. She knew it was probably silly to even think it, to him she was probably just a silly kid. Smiling politely she nodded, “I slept on the plane from Brisbane, but I just couldn’t sleep on this one.” She said with shrug, “I think it was nerves.” She smiled and blushed slightly admitting she’d been worried and nervous about been late.
It was probably lack of sleep that made her ramble on about the silly guide book she’d been reading on the plan. She was sure she was boring him, but couldn’t make herself stop. Her smile was genuine when he told her to continue, he didn’t seem bored or maybe he covered it well. “Sorry…erm the book was just a guide book to the area, I bought it at the book shop in the airport to read while I waited.” She said almost excusing herself. “It was actually quiet fascinating. I retain stilly information form stuff like that.” She said bashfully with lop sided smile.
High school. Even the statement made her feel young and child like. He was mature, had a life and a child, what would he want with a child in high school? As soon as she’d said the words she regretted bringing up her vocation. Sure he knew she went to school and was here in the States to do that, but she knew that reminding him would blow her chances with him; if she had any to start with. “Mechanics may not be fancy, but there’s something about a guy who works with his hands.” She smiled honestly. As she spoke she imagined him in greased smeared overalls, open. Quickly she looked away hoping she wasn’t blushing; it was a nice image.
He laughed at her joke and she felt relaxed and comfortable with him, like she’d always known him and would always know him. Both ideas were appealing and Lyndal wanted them both to be true. Now she wasn’t even questioning her feelings, she knew this wasn’t a fleeting feeling. She knew she loved Nash, the man she had only just met. She was a convert to Love at first sight. Did he feel it? Was he humoring her? In stead of asking she just smiled back at him and joined in the laughter at her own silly joke.
Her wardrobe was going to be completely pathetic and wrong for the climate and she smiled when he offered to take her shopping. “That would be great. If it wouldn’t be too much trouble.” She smiled wanting any excuse to spend more time with Nash. “What do you have on the…Rez?” She said mimicking his word with smile and hoping it didn’t sound offending or silly with her accent.
Pushing her hair back behind her ears with both hands, Lyndal chewed on the inside of her lip as he repeated the meaning of her name. Coming from him, in his accent and the way his lips formed the word she actually thought it did sound beautiful for the first time ever; usually she just found it a little pretentious. “Thank you.” She smiled and bounced lightly on the heel of her feet, not used to getting compliments about her name. “My mum found it in some baby book I think.” In truth she wasn’t sure where her name came from, just that she was stuck with it.
When he said her nickname it didn’t sound so bad, something she might actually be able to get used to, but when he said Dal she liked it more. No one had ever shortened it that way and that made it more special, his name for her. “I like it.” She said with a big smile, “You can give me a nickname if you like. Its not too soon, nicknames should be spontaneous.” She said still smiling as she tried to think of something to call him.
It was a silly feeling, but Lyndal wanted to feel what a hug from Nashal would feel like. It was a feeling that came over her the minute their hands parted. The feeling was a void, an emptiness she didn’t know was there till he’d filled it with a touch. She pushed the thought away, or tried too, as he commented on his name. “I should think of a name for you.” She said narrowing her eyes as she thought and looking him up and down. “Sandman? Grease monkey?” She joked realizing how at ease it was to talk to him and be silly with him. Lyndal only hoped she wasn’t coming off ridiculous or immature.
“Is it a long drive?” She asked before her eyes locked on his and everything else melted. She didn’t care about the drive, or the flight delay, or been a million miles from home. In that second all she cared about was been in that room with him and never leaving. Lyndal couldn’t, and didn’t want to, imagine the rest of her life without him. If one of her friends back home had have said that to her about someone they’d just met she would have laughed, but not now after meeting Nash.
As he spoke again about coming to get her she was glad no one else had come to pick her up. And she wanted the drive back to his house to last forever just so she could be alone with him for longer. “I’m not sure anyone would have had the patients with that delay. I know I didn’t at the other end.” She said truthfully remembering her pacing and sighing as she’d waited to board the plane.
“I’m glad you came too.” The words were out before she could stop them and she knew she hadn’t meant to say them out loud. Quickly she looked back down at her bags and hoped they’d be swallowed up by the noises of the arrivals lounge.
Lyndal didn’t have anything to look at as Nash picked up her bags as if they weigh nothing at all, had she really packed that little? Or was he that strong? She couldn’t see his arms so she assumed it was her lack of packing that made the weight easy. “Don’t worry, I wont drag you from store to store. I’m a quick shopper.” She said easing into step beside him as they walked towards the exit. “In fact a rain coat and I might be fine…maybe some boots. At home I’m more of a bikini and shorts kinda girl.” She said wishing she was more glamorous or more girl-like obsessing over clothes but that just wasn’t her style. “Maybe we can do some sight seeing after a quick shopping spree.” She said hopefully, not wanting to talk him into anything. “I mean if you and Travis aren’t busy?” She was yet to meet the boy and already she wanted to include him, he was part of Nash and she knew she’d love him too.
“Smooth talking charmer, is he?” She smiled brightly hearing the love in Nash’s voice as he spoke about his son and family. Hearing that love made Lyndal love him more. Love, she was in love with him; felt love for him; wanted love back from him. All feelings were so new and fresh, but comfortable and nerve wracking.
It was raining slightly as they exited the airport; Lyndal pulled her light jacket further around her and hoped his car wasn’t too far. “I can’t wait to meet him and your family.” She said honestly looking up at the dark sky and then letting her eyes fix on Nash again, it felt like she couldn’t keep her eyes from him for long. Even as they walked she felt as if her body was been pulled towards his.

“Well I’m glad at least you got some sleep. If you’re still tired, you can feel free to sleep on the ride back, I’ll try to avoid the big bumps” Nash told her. While he wanted to talk to her and hear that beautiful voice and accent, he knew he’d be just as happy to be able to watch her sleep, knowing she’d look like sleeping beauty. His mind wandered off with him, imagining attempting to be the prince to wake her with a kiss. His aunt and uncle would kill him for having such thoughts. She was staying in their house, he had to behave.
He smiled as he heard her say she was nervous which had kept her up. “You have nothing to be nervous about, I promise my family isn’t that scary, and the worst you’ll get here is maybe a little boredom” He told her, trying to ease her worries. He knew he lived in a friendly place, but was worried it wouldn’t be exciting enough for her. What if she cut her visit short?
“A guide book, that’s a good idea! Familiarize yourself with the area, figure out where you might want to visit” He said, thinking it had been very smart of her to have bought such a thing. “I’m glad it had enough interesting things in it to make you not want to turn back”
Nash found himself grinning as she mentioned there being something about a guy who works with his hands. Her tone hadn’t been condescending at all, something she appreciated. There were a lot of things he was thinking of doing with his hands right now that were too bad to even put into thought sentences. He hoped he didn’t look like a sleaze right now with the things that her statement had brought to mind.
Nash shook his head as she said how she would like to go shopping with him if it wasn’t too much trouble. “No trouble at all, I promise” He told her, knowing he’d fly her to Paris to go shopping if that’s what she wanted. He smiled thinking it was adorable that she used his wording of calling it the Rez. “Not a whole lot…we have your basic necessities, places to eat, schools, daycare, an auto shop, a clinic…our beach is the most popular spot”
“You’re welcome” Nashal responded lightly as she thanked him for the compliment on her name. He listened with interest as she explained her mother just found it in a baby book. He gave a big smile as she said she liked his nickname and it wasn’t too soon. “Glad you like it Dal” He said repeating the name again.
Nash laughed as she tried to think of a nickname for him. “You can call me whatever you like Dal-ing” He said, adding to her name, and trying to do it in a playful way in case she hated it so that he could say it was just a joke. He gave a semi-shrug as she asked about the drive. “It’s a little over an hour away, not too bad of a drive” he said. He enjoyed driving so he didn’t mind, but hopefully she wasn’t too tired from her travels that it would seem too long. He smiled again as she mentioned having not been patient during the delays. “I’m glad it was just a delay, not a cancelled flight”
Nash felt another wave of warmth going through him as she said she was glad he came too. While he knew she was probably just glad that someone had come for her, he wanted to take it as a sentiment on him. Any sort of hint that she felt even an ounce of the imprinting love that he felt for her when he first laid eyes on her.
Nash started carrying the bags away as they walked towards the door, listening as she spoke of being a quick shopper. “You can take as long as you like, I don’t mind going wherever you want to” He said, looking down to the bags, knowing that sounded a bit too easy going and that he was probably going to end up coming off too strongly too soon. How did the other imprinters restrain themselves?
Before he knew it Lyndal was talking about being a bikini wearing girl, and he lost track of what else she was saying or he was thinking. All he could do now was picture her in a bikini and hope that it got warm enough that she could wear that frequently. He had to hold his breath to keep from letting out an audible moan of pleasure at the thought, knowing she would look hot and sexy in a bikini. He was lusting after a teenage high school student who would be living in his own house, with his son, he knew this was wrong, but it felt so good.
He heard the word sightseeing and realized that she was asking him a question. She then asked about Travis as well and his heart melted. She was including his son. It was something most girls would probably be avoiding like the plague. “We’d love to. Travis loves going on little trips, I’m sure he can fit it into his schedule”
As Nash noticed the rain he was about to offer to pick her up at the door but she was already walking at his side, having gotten a little wet, luckily he wasn’t parked too far away. “They’re excited to meet you too” He said, glad to reach the cover of the parking garage. “My truck’s right over here” He said motioning to the next row over.

Lyndal doubted she would sleep on the back to his house, even if it was the smoothest ride she wouldn’t want to miss a moment of Nash’s company. If she pretended to sleep she wondered if she could rest her head on his shoulder and be close to him in a way she wouldn’t dare while awake. Even that touch, brief touch, was something Lyndal felt as if she was craving for. “I’m sure I can stay awake and keep you company.” She smiled brightly and contented herself with the time they could spend talking. “Then you wont have to avoid the bumps.”
Her nerves were fading with ever exchanged sentence as she stood talking with Nash, it was almost as if his very presence calmed her while at the same time it sparked something inside her. Lyndal knew that something was love and desire and a yearning for him, but she was trying not to let it be the prominent feeling to save herself from standing like a statue smiling and staring. “Well if your family is as friendly as you I’m sure it’ll be fine. And I doubt its as boring as my town back home, there a new coat of paint is a news story.” She laughed exaggerating a little but it was a small town. “Besides, I’m sure your little one keeps things exciting and edge of your seat style.” She smiled excited to meet his son and his family.
“I already have a long list of places I want to see, it would be great to have a local to see them with.” Lyndal laughed and smiled trying not to let herself stare at him again and not wanting to sound pushy or demanding while wanting him to know she would like to see them with him. “Nah the book was good, really peaked my interest in the area. So much history and culture.”
The smile Nash gave her when she offered her honest opinion on men working with their hand was beautiful and mesmerizing, if he kept smiling at her like that Lyndal was going to have to kiss him to feel his lips. They looked soft and inviting, while he smiled at her like that she couldn’t help thinking about their feel against her own. It was going to be a hard year and a lot of temptation living under the same roof as him.
Her own smiled brightened as he agreed to go shopping with her, it was more time with him and that was all that mattered. Lyndal wouldn’t mind if they didn’t buy a thing as long as she was with him. “ That’s great, I’d hate to be pain. My brother used to tell me I was a pain all the time.” She said suddenly feeling a tug at her heart as she mention Laurie, even if not by name, she missed him. “A beach. I love the beach. Do you get to spend a lot of time there?” Lyndal asked wondering if they could spend time there together, maybe take Travis. Looking at him she could see him in board shorts, his body had to be amazing. Lyndal felt her eyes travel to his body and quickly she pulled them back to his face only to be lost there again.
The nickname was fresh, new and from him; there was no way Lyndal couldn’t like it. Whatever he chose to call her, she would like and even love. She smiled as he repeated her name. It felt like the most natural thing in the world, it was a strange feeling to feel so comfortable with someone she had just met.
Lyndal laughted whole heartedly as he added to her name. It sounded so close to darling she almost blushed. Her heart raced and she wanted to reach out and rub her hand down his arm just to share some contact. “I like Nash, I really like it.” She smiled, ‘And I like Dal-ing.” She smiled letting her eyes lock on his to share what she hoped what a moment of true intimacy.
An hour drive alone with Nash sounded great to her. Anytime alone with him sounded good to Lyndal. “An hour sounds great.” Lyndal smiled as Nash gave a half shrug, maybe he wished it was shorter while she was wishing it was longer. What if she was developing a love for a man who didn’t have any feelings for her. “Or do you wish it was closer?” She gave a light laugh hoping he wouldn’t hear any worry in her sentence and that it came off like a casual question.
“I’m glad it wasn’t cancelled either, I would hated to have not made it here.” She said relieved, “A night in the airport would not have been fun for either of us. Though you could have gone home.” She smiled not wanting to have felt her would have had to wait in the airport all night for her.
Lyndal was glad he hadn’t left after the delay, she was glad he was the one here to meet her. If she’d have known she’d feel like this about her greeter she knew she would have been more annoyed by the delay. If only there was some way to know if he felt anything of what she was feeling, this feeling of been drawn to him; complete.
He was been polite she could tell when he told her she could take as long as she liked. He was the perfect host, but she hoped it was more then just him been a polite host. “Thank, but I know you’re just been polite. No one wants to be dragged around from store to store.” She smiled, “But I won’t do that to you, just a quick trip then we can hang out and do something we both enjoy.” She said reassuring him. Lyndal didn’t want Nash to think she didn’t want him to be with her, she wanted him with her always. Not did she want him to think she was just a boring girl with nothing else on her mind then shopping.
He seemed miles away as walked out to the care and she cursed herself for rambling on, hogging the conversation. She wanted to talk with him, not bore him. Whatever he was thinking about he seemed content to think it and Lyndal wondered if she was thinking of his son. Was the mother still around? Maybe Nash was unavailable? All these thoughts suddenly dawned on her as they excited into the rain.
When he answered Lyndal hoped the We he spoke of was just him and Travis. “He has a schedule.” She laughed, “It’ll be nice to get out with two handsome boys.” She smiled and tried to make it sound like a statement when it was loaded with a question, would it just be them and her? Lyndal really hoped so. It was ridiculous, but even the prospect of there been another woman in Nash, and consequently Travis’ life, made her feel a little jealous.
Falling into step besides him Lyndal felt like she fitted with him, and it felt right. Looking around Lyndal got her first look at Washington, well at the moment it was just another airport, but it felt different; she felt different. It was nice to know his family was excited to meet her, right now she was just excited to be with him. As he motioned towards his truck she couldn’t help the smile, somehow she felt it fitted him perfectly. Been he was a mechanic she knew it was going to run smoothly. “It’s nice.” She smiled as they walked towards it she looked it over as they approached.
“You’ll have to give me lessons. I can’t drive.” She said as they drew level with the truck and stopped. Her voice seemed to echo in the empty dim parking lot. “Its something I haven’t gotten around to doing.” She shrugged a little and hopped it wouldn’t remind him of her age, maybe he’d find it endearing and something they could share.

Nash smiled again as she mentioned staying awake to keep him company. It was sweet of her. Even if she was just staying awake because she wasn’t tired, she had put it in such a polite and sweet way that it made his heart melt. He already knew that he would do anything for her. She could tell him to go hijack a plane and he would right now. “I’d be glad to have such fine company”
“My family is great, I’m sure you’ll get along with them fine” Nash assured her. He laughed lightly as she spoke of her hometown being boring. “I’m sure its more interesting there than you think. Australia seems so exotic and exciting” Nash then gave another soft chuckle as she spoke of Travis keeping things exciting. “He keeps us busy, and alert that’s for sure. He’s like the energizer bunny sometimes, never stops moving”
Nash was nervous about Lyndal meeting Travis. He loved his son, but he felt a bit embarrassed at the fact that he had a son when he was around her. She was still young and he wanted to make a good impression on her, knowing that imprinting was a one shot thing and if he messed this up with her, he’d never find his soulmate in another. What if Travis was the deal breaker. Sure she might think he was cute kid, but maybe just in liking from afar type thing. Could she ever be attracted to a guy with a kid?
“I’d be happy to take you to see all of them, you should definitely see everything you want to, just let me know when and I’ll take you there” Nash said, ready and willing to go to the ends of the earth with her. “You might’ve learned more about the history and factual stuff in the books than I can teach you but at least I can show you the places in the area”
Nash listened attentively as Lyndal spoke. She heard her talk of a brother who called her a pain and wondered how things were between them now, making notes of things he could ask her later on. “I haven’t known you that long yet, but I can already tell your brother’s wrong. You are the last person I’d think of as a pain.” He told her honestly. He nodded as she asked if he spent a lot of time at the beach. “I go when I can, and Travis likes to play in the sand…you’re welcome to join us anytime”
Nash’s eyes were fixed on her smile, a smile that lit up the room and his heart evertime he saw it. It was life affirming. He listened to the sweet melodic sound of her laughter as he called her Dal-ing, glad that she didn’t seem put off by it and took it well, even enjoying it. Her eyes met his and he smiled back at her. “Good, I’m glad you do like it”
Nash felt overjoyed as she said that an hour sounded great. She didn’t seem in a hurry to leave him or to get the ride over with, he wondered what she was feeling of the imprinting process. It was hard for him to resist coming out and asking her about it but he knew it would all just overwhelm her. New country and suddenly a soulmate wolf pops up? Too much for anyone to handle at once. “No, I don’t wish it was closer at all” He said, knowing he was probably a bit too excited by the distance that it was. “It’ll give me a chance to get to know you before the others get all your attention”
Nash nodded as she said how a night in the airport wouldn’t have been fun. “I’m glad you didn’t have to go through that. You’ll have a nice comfortable bed instead when we get back, your own room too” He told her. Before coming here today he had moved Travis’ bed and things into his room so that their guest would have a space to herself and some privacy. Travis was enjoying it, thinking of it as a sleepover with his father.
He shook his head as she told him he was just being polite in telling her to take as long as she needed shopping. The truth was he knew he wouldn’t mind being dragged around all day shopping as long as it was with her. “Actually I’m not just being polite, I really wouldn’t mind..but I do like the idea of hanging out together too” He admitted, hoping he wasn’t moving too quickly.
Nash laughed as Lyndal mentioned Travis’ schedule “Yeah, he has a schedule, but he’s flexible, doesn’t mind changing it up” he said seriously but then grinning as he finished. “Especially when its being changed for a beautiful woman”
Nash looked to his side as he walked to his truck, he led the way but checked to make sure he wasn’t walking too fast that she couldn’t keep up at a comfortable pace. Once they reached his truck he opened the door to the backseat (small and uncomfortable for passengers to ride in but perfect for luggage) and lifted her bags inside before opening the passenger side door for her.
“Thanks” Nash said smiling as she complimented his truck, a vehicle he had spent many hours working on. He moved around to the drivers side, getting in as he heard her talk about having never learned to drive. “I’d be glad to show you how, but not sure a truck’s the easiest to learn on…though if you can drive something this size, you should be able to drive anything”

Lyndal couldn’t wait to meet his family and his son and anyone else he wanted her to meet; she wanted to meet everyone in his life who was important to him. In return she hoped she’d become important to him too. “I can’t wait.” She smiled honestly. “As for Oz, its like everywhere; not very exotic when you live there all the time. Maybe you can come spend a year there with me some day. And Travis too.” She smiled wanting to show him her home and everything this about it.
Nash’s face lit up when he spoke about Travis even when making fun of him a little, Lyndal returned the smile. She was eager and nervous to meet Travis more then anyone else in Nash’s life, making a good impression on his son could be make or break about whether Nash liked her or not. If Travis didn’t like her there was no future for her and Nash, of that she was sure.
She’d never spent much time with younger children; Lyndal wasn’t the babysitting type. Been the youngest in her small family meant she hadn’t grown up with younger siblings or cousins. What did you do with children? What did children like? What did little boys like? Lyndal decided, right then, she was going to try to bond with Travis and make it easier with her and Nash.
“Thank you.” Lyndal smiled as he offered to show her everything she wanted to see. Maybe he liked her; why else would he want to show her everything? As he spoke about her learning more then he would know she smiled. “We can learn it together as we see it. Seeing is much more fun then reading about it.” She nodded and smiled before biting gently on her bottom lip.
Lyndal rattled on and he listened, a trait she found endearing. When he corrected Laurie assessment of her she laughed. “Thanks, but give it a few hours and you might think differently.” She laughed again and brushed her hand up his arm comfortable with the contact and wanting to increase it.
“I’ve love to come to the beach with you and Travis.” She smiled wanting to spend any time she could with him and happy he was inviting her to join a father son thing. Lyndal was eager to be involved in anything he did. “Thanks, maybe we can swim?” She asked hopefully not thinking about water temperature.
The nickname her gave her was amazing and she really like it, if was hers from him and she couldn’t stop smiling. “I’ll think on one for you.” She smiled and teased, “Maybe handsome…or sleepy” She joked.
Lyndal didn’t wish it was closer either. If it meant she could be alone with him, she wished it was further. “I don’t want it to be closer either.” Lyndal said shaking her head once to agree with him, hoping her wouldn’t think her strange. “You can still get to know me when we get there though, they wont have all my attention. You have that.” She smiled again then looked away quickly a little nervous by her confession even though it was true. Part of the exchange was her own room, but if it was choice Lyndal wouldn’t have minded sharing with him. She didn’t say it out loud, that may have been a little strange. “My own room, that’s great.” She smiled hoping it was close to him. “What about you? Do you have your own room?” It wasn’t as innocent a question as it sounded, Lyndal wanted to know if Travis’ mother lived there too and share Nash’s room. The very thought had her jealous.
“I want to hang out with you too.” She smiled hoping that him wanting to be with her meant Travis’ mother wasn’t around. “But seriously I don’t take long.” She smiled again.
Listening to Travis’ schedule she smiled. “Well it’s good he’s flexible. We can change it occasionally and do something fun.” She nodded excited by the chance of doing something with the three of them. He called her beautiful, which was flirting; Lyndal was sure it was flirting. Men with women didn’t flirt with other women right? “And I’m sure I’ll be happy with you handsome men.” She smiled and nodded.
Lyndal had to know if Travis’ mother was around. She couldn’t keep going on second guessing every move he made. As Nash put her bags in the truck Lyndal stepped back and watched how his body moved and the cut of his muscles, he certainly worked out. She enjoyed what she saw, but looked away as he turned back and opened the door for her.
Climbing into the passenger seat Lyndal took a few deep breathes and put on her seat belt as Nash walked around and climbed in the driver’s seat. She smiled and nodded as he spoke about showing her how to drive. True, if she could drive that anything else would be a breeze but that wasn’t what she said or even commented on. Her mouth went on its own tangent. “Are you and Travis’ mum still together?” She asked as the truck started to move. “I’m sorry that’s none of my business.” She said quickly suddenly finding her hands very interested as she twisted them in her lap.

“I’m sure Travis would love that” Nash told her. “We would have to find him some of the kangaroos that your country is so known for. “He loves animals” He told her, knowing she probably didn’t really care what his son did or didn’t like but he couldn’t help but talk about him sometimes. Travis was his life…at least until now, now Travis and Lyndal would be his life.
“You’re welcome” He replied happily as she thanked him. He would do anything for her, showing her around would be a treat for him, it would mean spending more time with her. “I’d be happy to learn about it with you, I think you could probably make learning anything fun” He told her, embarrassed after he said it, realizing how flirtatious it probably came across.
He shook his head as she joked how in a few hours he might be agreeing with her brother’s assessment of her. “That won’t ever happen” He told her, smiling as she reached across and brushed her hand up his arm. The physical contact between them was amazing. Such a small touch and she was able to send warm tingles through him.
“We’d love to have you join us, and a swim would be nice, on the warmer days at least” He said not wanting her to freeze. The cold temperature didn’t bother him anymore, but it was always a factor he had to look out for when he thought about bringing his son to the beach, now it would be something he’d think about with her as well. Her wellbeing was a priority.
Nash smiled as he listened to the nicknames she suggested. She called him handsome. He was ecstatic that she thought so, that the feelings he felt were at least on the surface reciprocated. If she was attracted to him, maybe there was a chance for them, even if they were living under the same roof. “You can call me anything you want, or a different name each day”
He felt the rush of happiness again as she verbalized how she didn’t want the ride to be any shorter for them. She didn’t mind spending time with him, which was another plus. He was desperate to ask her what she was feeling, to tell her everything he felt, and everything he knew about what was going on, but he knew it was too much too soon, he’d have to let her adjust first. He smiled again as she assured him that he’d have her attention. “You have mine too” He reciprocated, trying to reassure the nervousness he saw on her face.
“Travis sleeps with me, but at least he doesn’t snore” He said jokingly as she asked if he had his own room. He didn’t want her to feel bad for the rearrangements that they had made to give her her own room. He didn’t mind sharing his room at all. He would have shared it with her as well, but that would be pushing things he was sure, with both her and his aunt and uncle.
“Yeah he’s very flexible. We may have to stop and get him ice cream to keep him happy but other than that, he’s easygoing” He said, then smiling as she called them handsome men.
Once Nash had the bags in the backseat he got in the drivers side and put on his seatbelt. He looked over as Lyndal asked if he was still with Travis’ mother. He liked the fact that she was thinking about that, finding out if he was single. “No, its alright, I don’t mind you asking” he assured her as she apologized. “We haven’t been together since Travis was born, she signed over full custody to me and left, Travis doesn’t even remember her”

Lyndal made a mental note to have Sarah send a stuff kangaroo over for Travis, anything to make the boy smile and in return make his dad happy. “I’m sure we could get him a pet kangaroo, you mean you guys don’t have them here?” Lyndal said trying to look genuinely confused by the concept. She smiled and laughed at her little joke. “Animals are great, I can’t wait to check out the wild life here.” She said genuinely.
“I really want to see everything while I’m here; a year is such a short time to visit a whole country.” She said suddenly wishing her time with him was longer, a lot longer. Lyndal realized that since she’d woken Nash she didn’t want to see the whole country, she just wanted to be with him. A few hours ago the whole American experience had been a priority now she wasn’t sure she convince herself to travel far form this guy. “Sure I can make learning fun; I’ll teach you the kangaroo hop.” She winked and laughed feeling so at ease with him.
He was so sweet to say she’d never bug him and Lyndal couldn’t help but smile. Her hand was still tingling from the touch; she couldn’t understand what was wrong with her. She’d touched him, something she’d never do but she’d liked the contact and Nash hadn’t seemed to minded; was he just been polite.
She hadn’t though about the temperature of the ocean til Nash mentioned it, she was so used to the water at home been warm and crystal clear; so many changes. “I’m tough, I’m sure I can take it.” She smiled not wanting to see like a silly girl complaining about the cold. “But we’ll have to keep Travis warm.” She agreed not wanting to risk his son in anyway.
He was very handsome, Lyndal blush slightly at the though of admitting it. She knew she was going to have to think about a name for him. “Thinking of daily names might be a tough one, I’m sure you’re family can give me ideas.” Lyndal was excited to meet his family and get to know him better through their eyes. “Maybe once I know you better I can get some really bonza names.” She said sounding very Australian and cringing at her own accent hoping he wouldn’t hate it.
Maybe he was interested, Lyndal was actually starting to think maybe she wasn’t the only one feeling some immediate attracted. With shared equal attention the ride was show to be interesting, she really did wish it was longer and wondered if they’d be delays like the flight. “I can’t wait to get to know you.” Lyndal smiled then quickly added “And your family.” She didn’t want to come off desperate or nosey even if he was her main and most urgent focus.
Travis shared with him; Lyndal just hoped she hadn’t taken over either of their rooms to come stay. She would have been happy to share. “Bet he thinks it’s a big sleep over.” She smiled remembering having friends over to stay and loving it; she and Laurie rarely shared a room except when visiting relatives. “I don’t snore, but my friends tell me I talk in my sleep.” She said with a shy smile, she wasn’t sure why she was sharing something with him they just came spilling out.
“Ice cream is always a winner.” She agreed with Nash knowing she’d be happy to stop for ice cream with these boys, her boys? Maybe one day.
After asking such a personal question Lyndal instantly started fiddling with her hands, she shouldn’t have asked knowing it was his business not hers; no matter how much she wanted to know. She listened as he answered and she couldn’t help be happy that his ex wasn’t around. “Must make it easier, Travis not remembering and all.” She said knowing it was harder to miss someone you didn’t know. “A lot of responsibilities, how old are you? Sorry I ask too many questions, you can tell me to shut up if you like.” She said shaking her head at been so nosey.
