So everyone needs to be in the mood to post, especially if the scene is particularly charged with a certain emotion. I was just wondering what everyone did to put them in the right frame of mind for this? Personally, I listening to appropriate music. My current play list is: Love (Bella/Edward) (Yiruma - River flows in you) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1-Y6HqHqy8Sadness - (Natalie Merchant - My Skin) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpI0HUZFcG8 OR (Evanescence - My Immortal) www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX-a8yRxkQIFamily/Feel good - (Nizlopi - JCB) - www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3WhQB7Hq0QAnd pretty much all of Muse's stuff for various things (like Unintended or Newborn and more. And there're loads more, like random music boxes when I'm trying to be in a creepy mood and Bedshaped when all is hopeless. Of course, this is not all the music I listen to when trying to feel inspired, but they're on my favourites on You Tube.

Hmm... excellent question. Lately I've been listening to the soundtrack like crazy, and some of my inspiration does come from there. Supermassive Black Hole by Muse tends to get me in the mood to write. Bella's Lullaby gets me in the Twilight mood. Never Think and Flightless Bird, American Mouth get me into a sad mood.
Other than the soundtrack, I listen to a lot of Linkin Park, Hedley, Evanescence, OneRepublic... more specifically:
For the Nights I Can't Remember - Hedley and All We Are - OneRepublic ~ Love Thief - Our Lady Peace ~ Loss Stronger - Kanye West ~ Upbeat Yellow Brick Road - Raine Maida ~ Feel good
And for the ultimate depression, if I was to do a really sad post, the Shelter for My Soul by Bernard Fanning is the perfect song to use for me. Not just the song, but it was for the movie Ned Kelly which Heath Ledger starred in and... yeah, it gets to me.
Other than that I've started to listen to more of Muse now that I've heard a few songs. Didn't realize Unintended was theirs, I love that song.

I haven't really compiled writing music before. But music is absolutely necessary. My house is usually really noisy and I have to have music to block everyone out in order to concentrate. Recently, I've also been stuck on the Twilight soundtrack, but I always have my favorites in there as well. The Used, Jason Mraz, Something Corporate, Alkaline Trio, Ray LaMontagne, Motion City Soundtrack, Jimmy Eat World, and a couple of spanish rock bands. It's really weird because they don't necessarily compel me to write a certain way or anything. They just happen to be the bands I listened to a lot when I got really into writing for a particular RP site over the years. My mind just associates all this music with the act of writing (or roleplaying) itself. This is only the very beginning of my musical preferences.

Hm. I don't know. I don't really listen to any particular music, although listening to anything certaintly help. I find I can't post if any of my family is in the room. I'm too self-concious to let them read anything so I hide it all from them, and usually only post when they aren't home or are sleeping.

Aha! I figured it out. I don't need inspiration, but I need to follow a routine, or else my brain won't work. I have to listen to the Twilight Soundtrack and Rob Pattinson's song, Let Me Sign, before I can post.
That's kind of pathetic...lol.
