{...post Breaking Dawn...}
The doors of the small garage were flung open as the sheets of rain fell slowly and softly outside. The doors needed to be open to keep the air in the work shop fresh and circulating, with engines going all day no one wanted to be breathing in those fumes.
Daylan was sat on the floor beside his 1995 BMW. After a recent woods and river experience the engine wasn’t sounding too good to the bike minded man. He wanted it to purr and hum, currently it was more of a choke and hiccup; not the sound he was going for. Slapping the wrench down on to the cold concrete floor Day lent back on his flattened palms and stared at the mass of silver and mud stained parts.
Through his palms he could feel the chill of the floor, but since his transformation to a wolf he rarely felt the chill or the cold. With his body temperature sitting somewhere in the low hundreds cold wasn’t an issue to him. Of course with such a high body temperature Daylan was hot, it was a point he was often commenting on for jokes and smart comments with his pack brothers and best friend Nash.
Glancing over at his bro across the garage Day cleared his throat preparing to talk. “Dude, you know I think we should trade transport for a few days. Little man Trav would love riding the back of the bike with the wind in his hair, you know it.” Daylan said pushing himself pull to stride over to the other werewolf. “See and I can cruise the Rez and pick up some talent.” He said with a wink as he drew against the open hood car leaning against it casually.
An open bag of potato chips lay on the engine of the open hood Day shoved his hand into the bag pulling out a large handful which he shoved into his mouth. Crunching on the chips turned and peered into the hood reaching in to tighten the oil cap as he spoke with his mouth slightly full. “You know you need to bring Trav down here, you can teach him the finer point of cars.” Daylan said pulling his hand out of the engine and wiping it on his jeans before plunging it back into the chips. With the chips in one hand Day reach up and rub the base of his neck with the other. “You teach him cars, I’ll teach him chicks. That’s one place you’re not so up to date, bro.” Day laughed pushing the handful of chips into his mouth.

Nash looked over at his friend as he heard the sound of the metal wrench slapping down against the concrete floor of the small garage they had been working in. He laughed and shook his head as he listened to Daylan suggest that they trade vehicles for a few days. DK’s bike for Nash’s truck. When the bike was in working order, it wasn’t a bad deal. The truck was more practical for Nash’s needs, and for transporting a child among other things, but he enjoyed the adrenaline of a good bike ride every now and then. But he knew the way the bike was sounding when he brought it in.
“Yeah, Travis probably would love it…of course it would have to be working well enough to get us up to a speed where his hair could be feeling any wind.” Nash said with a slight chuckle. There was no way he was falling for this one. He couldn’t take the bike and have it break down on him on the way back, he had places to be.
Nash laughed again as Day talked about crusing the rez in Nash’s truck. “We all know how the girls love a beat up truck” He said knowing his car wasn’t exactly the sports car type that the women went for.
“Travis will know his way around a car inside and out by the time he’s 10” Nash said with certainty, he wouldn’t force it on his kid, but he knew that when he was a little older, he’d be able to bring him to work more often and show him what he did, see if his son held the same interests he did. “ But I don’t know if I want you teaching him about chicks, he doesn’t need to be in any rush to date, not like his old man was”
Nash smiled to himself as he screwed on one of the bolts of a tire he was changing. “But maybe I’m more up to date than you think..” He commented, knowing that he hadn’t seen Daylan since the arrival of their exchange student. He had a lot to tell his friend.

Nash was Daylan’s best friend, but recently work was mostly the only time they got to hang out. Between Travis, who Day loved dearly, and Day’s Imprintee/Sister/Taboo interest Kele things were complicated, though since the DNA results came in, taboo and sister were two things Day didn’t have to worry about.
“Dude no bagging on my bike. It makes the speed and that boy would feel the hair, rain, waves; all of it.” Daylan told him with a smirk. His bike was his pride and joy, before he met Kele it was his everything; now that was her. Day’s smirk broke into a smile when Nash chuckled. “You just wait, when their baby is fixed you’ll be begging for a ride. Get you out cruising for a girl.” He said hoping to tempt his friend.
Daylan nodded as Nash went on about his truck. “Yea beat up bad boy, kinda like you Nash.” Day said jerking his head towards the door and the truck standing out in the rain. “You gonna go for another townie like Michele?” He asked knowing that now it wasn’t such a sore subject and easily up for a smart comment.
Five years an Daylan’s little nephew would be in double figures, The idea made him smile and cringe at the same time. What else could happen in five years? Would he and Kele have kids? Nash have some more? Would Nash find his imprintee? “Wow you know 10 isn’t that long away Bro.” Daylan commented out loud. “Hell of a lot can happen between now and then. Look at the last year and everything that happened with me.” He mentioned meaning his own imprinting and finding a sister and everything that went with that.
“Sounds like you’ve been holding out on me boy. Spill!” Daylan told him hitching himself up to sit on the side of the hood chips in hand as he stared at Nash. “You dating? Who is she? You get on with her guide dog?” He joked shoving more chips in his mouth.

“You know I think your bike’s nice, but I also know it needs a lot of work right now” Nash said shaking his head. He knew better than to mess with Day’s bike too much. He laughed again as he spoke about begging for a ride once it was fixed. “Yeah yeah, just get it to that point and we’ll see, I might be graying by then” He joked with him.
Nash laughed again as Daylan said his truck was like him, a beat up bad boy. One thing he loved about spending time with Daylan was that he could always make him laugh. The two had a great time together, even when working. “At least how I used to be maybe” He said knowing he was a lot less of a bad boy when he playing responsible father.
Nash shook his head with another chuckle as Daylan asked if he’d go for another townie like Michelle. “Nah, I’m thinking more exotic this time” He said, knowing his imprintee was far from a townie. She was perfect.
“That’s true a lot has happened this year, a lot’s happened in the last five years too, I’d barely recognize myself back then” He said shaking his head. Everything about his life had been different then, no son, no wolf, no imprintee. He liked his life better this way, even if sometimes it was hard.
Nash grinned as Daylan asked for details, then made a joke about whoever he was dating being blind. “ Very funny. And we’re not quite dating exactly…but I’m hoping that’s only a matter of time” Nash told him. “I found her…or rather she found me, the exchange student that’s staying with my family…she’s the one”

“You dare mock the genius that is me? I’ll get this bike up to peek performance even before you’re 40.” Daylan joked even mocking himself, his bike was a bit of a disaster at the moment, but he had faith in it and himself. “Then I’ll take Kele cruising, if she’ll get on it.” He said doubting his sister turned wife would trust the bike either.
Daylan smiled at his best friend, the boy had really grown up and taken to his responsibilities as a father and as a wolf. No matter how much Nash grew up Daylan still knew there was a bad boy somewhere deep down, just waiting to get out. “”You’ve changed, but I’m sure that bad boy wants to get out. Come on, tell me you don’t love the freedom of been a wolf.” He urged, “Even a little.”
“Exotic? Here? Dude you need to quit reading those trashy romance novels.” Daylan joked mocking Nash’s role as two parents. “You’re never gonna find exotic here, not you’re type anyway.
Nash was right, a hell of a lot had happened in the last 5 years. “Bro I’d barely recognize you back then. That hair…scrawny body…no style. How you ever got with a chick back then is beyond me.” Daylan laughed poking fun at his younger pack brother and the changes he’d gone though not just emotionally but physically. “No look at you. Not so scrawny, but what’s up with that hair.” He said reaching over to ruffle Nash’s hair with a chip covered hand.
Day listened to Nash turn almost serious, his face certainly told him Nash was not joking. He’s met the one? Daylan knew that only meant one thing, Nash had imprinted. Finally. Day remember what it had been like for him, all the confusion and secrecy; so different from his other pack brothers. He’d wanted it to be easy and open for Nash, but his exchange student; that was far from easy. “Nash you sure? Sure its imprinting, not just thinking she’s hot?” Day said not wanting to trivialize it, but wanting to make sure Nash was sure, falling for a girl under the same roof wasn’t going to be easy. Imprinting on one was going to be less easy. “Exchange student? So what she’s still in school? Nash you need to be totally sure dude, look at the trouble Kele and I had been under the same roof.”
Daylan felt terrible not been instantly happy for his pack brother and best friend, but it was his job to look out for him. He wanted to make sure Nash was certain; he had to be there for him and watch out for him. “Dude if she is that’s great, but…Just tell me what’s its like..” Daylan said hoping hearing Nash explain would convince him his friend had really imprinted and not just fallen for another pretty girl like he had with Michelle.

“Yeah well I won’t hold my breath waiting for you to get it fixed” Nash joked with Daylan. The truth was he didn’t doubt that with some work Day would be able to fix up the bike and get it to functioning capacity. He knew his friend could do wonders on a bike. “How does the old ball and chain feel about your bike? Maybe you should borrow one of the new ones at the shop to take her on, at least you’ll know it won’t stall out on you”
Nash had to smile as Day mentioned the freedom of being a wolf. It was true, there was some freedom associated with it, but it was also another huge weight on his shoulders, just another responsibility that he had to live up to. “The freedom can be nice, yeah…but some of those nights patrolling can be killer” He said, knowing he’d often come back exhausted.
Nash just smiled as Daylan mocked his desire for a more exotic woman, and tried to convince him it was impossible. Nash knew it wasn’t. He had already found her, it was just a matter of convincing her he was the one for her too…and of course there was the problem of getting her to stay in the country.
“I had no problems with the ladies, scrawny or not, so I must’ve had some style” He said jokingly. He then wrinkled up his nose and pulled away as Daylan ruffled his hair with his greasy chip crumb hand. “Dude, keep the pieces of your snack to yourself” He said, running his hand through his hair fixing it. “And there is nothing wrong with my hair”
Nash got more serious however as he explained about how he found the one. He watched Day’s reaction, wondering if he’d believe him. He could see that Day was taking the information seriously as well, no longer joking around but having a true conversation. “She is hot, but its more than that, I don’t know how I could not be with her” He said, not knowing how a feeling could be stronger than what he felt for Lyndal if this wasn’t imprinting. It couldn’t be, which is what made him sure it was.
“She’s still in high school, yeah…a senior…I know living together right now isn’t ideal…I mean my aunt and uncle would probably boot me to the curb if they knew I wanted to go after the exchange student they invited it” He said shaking his head. “ I don’t know how to explain it…its kinda like with Travis, I’ll always be there for him, unconditionally love him, I want to protect him…it’s the same with her, I’m just as sure that I’ll always love her as I am with my son, I have no doubt. Plus with her there’s that extra attraction, sparks like fireworks anytime I see her. I can’t stop smiling when we’re together”

“I’ll tell Kele you called her that, see if she’s so nice to you next time you come over.” Daylan laughed. Kele was his wife, but she didn’t tie him down. He was happy to be with her, after all they’d gone through to get where they were he was glad of the quiet times. “She’s waiting for the final product. I think she’s building up the courage.” Day laughed, he would never do anything to endanger Kele that included taking her on a less then fit bike.
When Daylan had first turned into a wolf, in truth, it scared him to death, but now he wouldn’t have it any other way. Been a wolf was, in part, responsible for how close he was to Kele; though he knew he’d love her without those genes. “Yea, I get home after a night of patrolling and I could sleep the whole day.” Daylan admitted, “But I don’t. Man I’m so whipped, I get up just to be with Kele.” He smirked not caring how it sounded. Day knew Nash got up to be with Trav.
When he was younger Day never wanted a Rez girl, or a townie for that matter. He wanted an exotic beach beauty who could model for Victoria Secret. When he met Kele, he found his dream girl. Now that Nash was going on about exotic women Day couldn’t help making fun of him; it had to be his second childhood.
As Nash defended himself and his body build Day just laughed, he was the best friend and older ‘brother’ it was his job to keep Nash down a few pegs and laughing. “Lets just say, the hair….Wet dog springs to mind.” Day laughed wiping his hand down the front of his jeans to rid it of crumbs.
Day turned more serious when he saw how serious Nash was, he wasn’t joking about this girl; his imprintee. Could he really have met the one? Nash was so excited for him to have met his only girl, but he also wanted to protect Nash from any possible heartbreak. Daylan just hoped Nash was just falling for in love. As he listened, the feeling of not wanting to be with someone made Day realize that was exactly how he felt about Kele. “That’s how it was with Kele. Even when I thought it was wrong, I still couldn’t not be with her.” He told Nash.
“Dude, it sounds like the real thing. That goofy smile says it all.” Day said slipping of the car hood and slapping Nash on the back while he laughed, from the unconditional love and the fireworks day was convinced. “You need to be careful though, and I don’t mean with the girl. Watch out for you aunt and uncle, dude.” Day said feeling a sense of history repeating itself, but this time his best friend was the one having to hide his feelings for his girl.
“You know, you could run off and marry her.” Day joked remember that was what he and Kele did. “Nah seriously, you need to explain it to her then you wont be on your own with trying to hide it. Who is this lucky girl? Does she know what a catch you are? Scrawny, dodgy hair, and the whole wet dog smell.” Day laughed.

Nash laughed as Day threatened to tell Kele he called the old ball and chain. "I'll deny every word of it!" He joked shaking his head, knowing he wanted to keep his relationship with Day's wife a good one. She made his best friend happy, that was all he needed. "Well if she's waiting for it to be done, at least she's got plenty of time to get up that courage"
Nash smiled as he listened to Day describe how even when he was tired after patrolling he'd stay awake just to see Kele. Nash knew the feeling. First it had been like that with his son, and now with Lyndal. He wondered if he'd ever get more than an hour or two in at a time. There was always somewhere he was needed or wanted to be. "Yeah, and its worth it, sleep deprivation and all"
Nash ran his hand through his hair as Day called it the wet dog look. "Hey some girls like it a little longer" He said pushing it back, not hurt at all by Day's comment about him, knowing the two joked at each others expense often.
Nash could see that it finally sunk in to Day that he was serious and knew that Nash had imprinted. He smiled as he heard Day describe how it was the same way he had felt with Kele. He had known it before coming here, but hearing the confirmation just made it that much more real to Nash. He had found his soul mate. "It is the real thing" He said laughing. "Its just amazing...she's amazing"
Nash got more serious and nodded as Day told him to be careful and watch out for his aunt and uncle. "I know, that's the problem. I mean she's living with me, I dont want her to think I'm taking advantage of the situation...and I know if they found out, I'd be out of there...I can't risk that with Travis...but I can't not be near her...I can't let this year go by and have my imprintee just leave because I couldnt do anything" He said knowing the situation seemed impossible right now.
Nash laughed as Day suggested he run off and marry her. "If I suggested that she'd probably run in the other direction, I've only known her a day now. " He said wishing it were that easy. He would say I do right now if he thought it would work. He smiled as Day asked who it was. "Her name is Lyndal Chambers, the most perfect woman on earth...and I hope she doesnt see what you do" He added with a laugh as Day used the scrawny dodgy hair and wet dog smell description of him.

Daylan laughed along with his best friend as they joked about his wife, she was anything but a ball and chain. Day found Kele so accommodating and amazing. “She’ll believe me not you Winters, so watch it.” He smirked trying to sound tough but failing with a smile. “And it wont take that long.” He pouted thinking about his bike and his endless set backs.
Patrolling and work took up so much time, but he always found time for Kele as he knew it should be. “Worth all the sleep deprivation. Wait til you imprint, then you’ll have to doubly divide your time.” Day nodded knowing how hard it would be for his friend.
Though Daylan had never really had trouble with girls, he knew Nash was the more proficient one with the ladies; hair and all. “Yea and some girls like buck teeth and BO, but you don’t want those types of girls, Dude.” Day laughed enjoying joking at Nash’s expense. “Maybe we’ll get you on a dating site or something?” he laughed again.
Hearing that his best friend had imprinted Daylan was excited and worried, he knew there weren’t many regular girls around for Nash to imprint on, and he needed something easier in his life. Nash hadn’t exactly had it easy. “Wow, Dude that’s awesome.” Daylan said excitedly with a bright smile. “Where’d you find her? On line.” He joked pulling back the suggestion he’d made before.
Hearing it was his exchange student Day worried for Nash, that was really going to make it hard for the two of them. “Dude if you imprinted she’ll feel something too even if she’s not showing it. She’s young right? So maybe she’s nervous of your good looks and all.” He winked with a smirk. “Look I’m gonna help right. And Kele will too.” He reassured.
“Cool name. Aussie right?” he asked confirming the stuff he was sure Nash had muttered over the last few weeks. “OK maybe we’ll leave the truth stuff for later. You just gotta spend time with her…she her feelings for you and show her yours. Dude we’re totally having a chick flick moment here with this feeling stuff.’ Day laughed trying to toughen up and turn back to the car in an effort to not sound too like his life.

Nash laughed as Day told him that his bike repairs wouldnt take that long. "Isn't that what you told me when you first started fixing it up? Just a few tweaks and it'd be great?" He chided him.
"If thats true, I think I'm ready to start going on no sleep" Nash said, wondering if he could get even less than he was now. Between work, patrolling and his son, he barely slept as he was. And now that Lyndal was in his life and he wanted to spend time alone with her as well, he wondered if there'd be any time to keep himself healthy. At least he had a wolf advantage there.
Nash smiled wider hearing his best friend's congratulations on him imprinting. He knew he'd be happy for him. He wondered already what the rest of the pack would think. He knew his family wouldnt appreciate him trying to get in a relationship with their exchange student but the guys would be different. "Didnt have to find her online, she came to me...just like yours came to you"
Nash nodded as she said she was young. "Yeah she's younger, a senior in high school but 18...its legal" He said making sure that was known before he became in the same league as Quil who was imprinted on a child, something as a father Nash still wasnt sure how he felt about, especially now with knowing how he felt after imprinting. His thoughts were far from pure. "I hope you're right that she feels something too...and I can use all the help I can get from you both"
Nash gave another nod as he asked about Lyndal's name "Yeah she's from Australian, got a cute little accent too" He said with a permanent grin on his face. "Yeah I guess I can try to show her how I feel" He said then laughing as Day called this a chick flick moment. "She's hot too. Is that better?"

“If I worked on it without having to interrupt my baby to fix your mistakes then I would be done with it.” Day smirked teasingly, “But no I got to keep stopping to bail you out. Bro, its all your fault.” He laughed hitting Nash on the shoulder playfully.
Going on no sleep would sure make fitting everything in easier, but Day liked sleep. “Dude you’ll never give up sleep. I remember you complaining about having to roll over and feed Travis. You love your sleep.” Day reminded Nash with a smirk knowing his best friend already had lack of sleep down because of his infant son. “And you’ll get sick then I’ll have to pick up your patrols and work here.” he smirked again enjoying picking on his best friend.
“You know I think the other boys were wrong about this imprinting thing, its easy. The girls come to us.” He laughed knowing that his, and now Nash’s situations with imprinting were far from easy.
Hearing it was legal was a reassuring point after they’d all gone through the Quil stuff. “She’s still young man and an exchange student. Be careful, Bro.” He said not wanting his best friend getting hurt or jailed for anything innocent taken the wrong way. “She’ll feeling something Kel said she did. And you know we got your back.” He said slapping his best friend’s back with a smile.
Laughting Day nodded at Nash’s comment on her accent, “Well then you’re hooked.” He laughed. When it turned all chick flick moment Day shrugged and tried to be more manly laughing again as Nash comment on her looks. “Dude she’s Aussie, they’re all hot. You should bring her over to meet Kele.” he suggested knowing it was a friendly thing to do.

"My mistakes, you're hallucinating dude. I dont make any" Nash joked with his friend. "You know actually with the way your bike is, maybe I should be more careful checking over your own work, don't want every car on the rez you touch to stall out like that bike"
"I do love sleep" Nash agreed with a nod, knowing that Travis' infanthood had been difficult. He was glad his boy was sleeping through the nights now. "You know if you want you're free to just take a few extra patrols now, I'd be glad to sleep so you dont have to worry about my health" He teased.
Nash laughed as Day said how imprinting was easy because the girls came to them. "Seriously! Literally right to our house! Just tell the newbies to wait for a new house guest" Nash said knowing it was lucky that he found Lyndal that easily but their situation since he'd found her was difficult, as he knew it had been for Daylan and Kele.
"She is young, and under my family's care, and I'm a father which makes me in a completely different place than her" He said knowing they had lots of difficulties to overcome. "Did she feel it as strongly as you? And right away? Or did it take you more time to work her up?"
Nash nodded as Day suggested he bring her over to meet Kele. "Yeah, itd be nice for her to get to know someone else on the rez, and maybe some day the four of us can double date."

Ever since they’d been friends they’d been tearing strips off each other and making fun of one another, it was a strange and warped banter game. “No way, Dude. You checking my work will just confuse you, I give you the simple jobs to stop that. I know how easily confused you get.” He smirked and shrugged. “The cars on this Rez have their own issues, my bike is a work of art.” He said glancing over at his disassembled work of art.
Nodding profusely and sharing Nash’s view on sleep Day totally agreed, he could sleep for days if it wasn’t for his need to see Kele. “I’m not picking up your slack til you have a good reason, but I can always get Trav to wake you up extra early if you wanna practice getting less sleep?” He laughed
Daylan knew it wasn’t so easy for everyone and that him and Nash were just lucky with their imprintees finding them. He knew that not everyone found their ‘one’. “Yea though I think some of the newbies thing were making up the whole soul mate stuff. They’ll see.” Day said trying to sound wise.
“Opposites attract, dude. And it totally already has if you’ve imprinted. She’s totally gonna be into you no matter what.” Day said trying to be reassuring to his friend and hoping his words would be proved true. As Nash asked about him and Kele Daylan smiled thinking back. “She said she felt it strongly right away and every time we were near to each other and completely when we kissed.” Day said missing her as he spoke about her. “We had it hard like you guys, but it was there for the start. She’ll be feeling it man, just look for the signs.” Day said slapping his arm in a supportive gesture.
“Yea totally, I’ll talk to Kel and we’ll get them together.” he nodded. “We can watch a game and they can do chick stuff.

"The fact that you think you're giving me the simple jobs shows just how much you're overlooking of the real issues" Nash teased him back, knowing that the insults were all in good fun. "Art is one way of putting it....cause you sure can't call it a functional ride"
"Trust me, I've had plenty of practice in getting less sleep, just wait til Kele starts popping out a little junior dude or dudette. You'll see" He said knowing that between Lyndal, Travis, Work and Patrol, sleep got low priority.
Nash nodded as Day commented on the newbies thinking they were making up the soulmate stuff. He was sure that the others couldn't fully understand imprinting until they had been there. Even hearing the thoughts of those who had, though it was close, didn't make you appreciate it fully until you were in those shoes. "We got lucky we have soulmates, even if the situations are tough"
"No if about it, I know I've imprinted. I'm just worried we're so far apart that she'll just see me as a friend or worse a brother and I'll be the lucky one who's imprintee has no desire to further their relationship" He said with a sigh. He smiled however as he heard Day describe how Kele had felt. "Dude, I hope its like that for all of them. I'll be looking out for even the smallest signs of hope...I'm just afraid I'm going to come off like some obsessive stalker"
"That sounds great! I think they'll get along, Lyndal's a really sweet girl. She's even nice to Travis"

“Bro, you’re just jealous that my ride ain’t a rust bucket with a booster seat…And I’m not talking about Trav’s little seat.” he said rolling his eyes at Nash and not taking him serious at all, their banter was part of their bond.
The thought of kids wasn’t at all scary to Day, he couldn’t wait to be a dad even if it did mean less sleep. “What? You think I’m getting my eight hours ever night?” he pouted slightly, then smirked. “Yea I run off and curl up for a nap whenever I’m patrolling, just like you taught me.” he joked.
Imprinting was certainly a plus on the whole wolf thing, not that Day could really find a negative other then the leeches. Knowing that your soul was complete with one other person certainly was an amazing feeling. “Dude we’re not all that lucky, we should just count ourselves blessed.” Day said seriously, knowing he felt blessed to have Kele and knowing he’d be at a loss to not feel what he felt for her. Ever since he’d imprinted he’d hope for the same thing to happen to Nash, out of everyone Day knew he thought Nash deserved the soul mate thing the most.
Hearing that his best friend had imprinted made Day smile. “Dude I’m just happy you’ve had it too and she’s gonna want you. You’re a catch.” he said nodding enthusiastically, “If I was a chick I’d want you” he said with a smirk lightening the mood and the chick flick moment he thought was starting.
Hearing Nash’s worry Day turned a little more serious, “She’ll feel something, I’m sure. And if she does then I’m sure she’d got the same worries as you.” He said with a half shrug hoping he was doing something useful in giving him hope.
Travis was a big part of Day’s life too, he’d been a part of the kid’s life since birth so it was important for him to hear that Lyndal was friendly to Travis. “Good, Trav’s a good kid. We should get the whole families together; you guys and the little man and me and Kele. Picnic or something.” He suggested.
