Laurie hadn't thought her gesture had been too forward at all. Her touch was welcomed, and he knew that her words came from the heart. She wasn't just spewing off fake sympathies in order to look good, she actually cared and it make him care for her even more. He hadn't expected her to take hearing of his past this well and still had the fear that once it all set in for her that evening, that she would see there was too much to his past to excuse.
He saw her smile as she spoke and his own matched it. As he held her hand and looked at her, she looked absolutely beautiful and he knew that given any other circumstances this could be a very romantic situation, sitting alone in a car in the moonlight, but seeing her tears in her eyes brought home the gravity of their evening. He was stunned again as she thanked him for confiding in her.
"I didn't feel obligated" He assured her. "I also hope you know I didnt tell you to try to diminish any of what has been happening to you...I felt like I'd be lying if I kept it hidden, given a few key similarities" He told her, knowing he couldnt lie to her like that. She left the comment lie of if they saw each other again. His heart still fluttered at the thought. He desperately hoped she could look past the rough patches in their evening and his history and want to see him again, but didnt know if it was all too much, he hoped he wouldnt seem too pushy by trying again. "I'm glad it is all out in the air....and I know this wasn't the perfect first date...but I would really like to see you again, if you're willing to give it another shot?"
