Travis nodded as she repeated out Day and Kele needed to be close by. "If they live close 'nough then Daddy might even let me walk by myself to Uncle Day's house to visit" Travis told her, focusing on the perfect little sand castle town he could make to distract himself from the endless amount of time it would be until he saw his father again.
Travis let out another soft giggle as she suggested that the mermaids wore their winter fins around here to keep them warm in the cold water. "Or maybe their Daddy's keep them warm like mine does" He said, knowing anytime he got cold his father could warm him up with a hug, but he'd also keep him bundled up if they were going out somewhere.
When Lyndal held him Travis felt soothed hearing her soft whispers of the rhyme to distract him from his leg and the absence of his fathers comforting arms. He held onto her needing someone, and glad that she mentioned going to see his father now.
Travis didnt fight it as Lyndal scooped him up onto her hip. He wrapped his arms around her neck to hold on as she carried him and layed his head against her, the tears slowing. He nodded again as she said they'd see daddy and it would be okay.
Nash was finishing working underneath a truck, his shirt discarded to the side of the garage to keep it from getting any more oil on it than was already there as he reconnected a final piece underneath. He heard the sound of approaching footsteps and slid out from underneath the truck. He looked up and saw Lyndal walk in holding onto Travis. He smiled at first seeing them but then his smile quickly fell as he saw their faces. He stood up quickly seeing the tears on his sons face and the look of worry on Lyndal's. "What happened? "

Travis seemed to fit so well in her arms Lyndal almost smiled at how completing that feeling felt to her. She marveled at how easily she’d gone from a carefree girl looking for an overseas experience to a girl crazy in love with a man she just met and ready to take on his child and start their own family. No matter how relaxed she felt with the embrace of Travis Dal couldn’t help but worry what Nash would say, he’d left his son in her care and now he was injured.
The walk to the garage was a short one, but long enough for Dal to worry a little more. Would Travis blame her for tickling him? Would Nash be mad?
Hugging Travis tighter Lyndal entered the garage as Nash stood up. Any other time she’d have marveled at his bare torso and be lost for words, but now her worry was for Travis and the fall; not that her heart didn’t beat a little fast at the sight. His face fell at the sight of them and Dal felt her own face tense at what might come next.
“Hey Bean, there’s daddy.” Dal said gently to Travis as she took a few steps closer to Nash coming to a stop in front of him as he spoke. “Travis fell on the way to the beach, but he was very brave.” Dal said in answer to Nash’s question, she offered a little smile letting one arm drop from Travis back incase Nash wanted to take him, though she wasn’t going to hand him off.

The worst case scenarios ran through Nash's head as he saw the two of them with those looks on their faces as they entered the garage. Either one or both of them could have been hurt or gotten sick. Maybe they had been attacked, or gotten in an accident of some sort. Nash looked them both over as he rushed over to their sides and saw the blood on Travis' leg though the cut didnt look to deep. He didnt see any blood on Lyndal so looked to her to find out what went wrong.
Travis looked up as Lyndal called him Bean and said they had gotten to Daddy. He wiped the rest of his tears with the back of his hand and gave another sniff as Lyndal explained what happened. She called him brave but he knew he wasnt. He had cried over it and clung to her and just wanted his Daddy. "I cried..." He admitted to his father sniffling again.
Nash reached over and brushed some of Travis' hair out of his eyes where it stuck to his tear dampened skin. For now he looked comfortable in Lyndal's arms so he wouldnt disturb him if Lyndal didnt mind holding him. "That's okay Trav, its okay for men to cry, we'll get it cleaned up and it'll all be okay" He told Travis.
Nash looked back up to Lyndal. "Did he hit his head or anything?" He asked, just wanting to make sure Travis didnt need to go to the doctor though he seemed like he'd be fine with a bandaid and a few hugs. "You alright?" He asked, hoping she didnt fall as well.

Watching how quickly he rushed to their sides as they arrived at the Garage made Lyndal smile a little, though didn’t lessen the worry. When he checked Travis she fought against the urge to start making, she felt terrible for him been injured in her care. Would Nash let her care for him again? “He fell.” she said flatly trying not to sound or look as guilty as she felt.
When Travis spoke up Lyndal let herself look down at him offering him a gentle reassuring smile. He was honest with his dad, no matter how much she tried to cover for him, not that she saw anything wrong with crying no matter who you were. “Only a little.” She said to both of them with a small smile finding it hard to look Nash in the eye. She knew it was an accident, but it was something she felt terrible for. As Travis sniffled again she rubbed his back in small slight circles. “Its ok now.” she cooed to him.
There hands passed, but didn’t touch as they both tried to comfort Travis. Lyndal wondered if he would take Tarvis and found that she wasn’t sure she wanted to give him up yet. She liked holding the small boy, even more when she was with Nash; she felt like a family. The worry she had was still there, along with the guilt but holding Travis reminded her he was all that mattered right now. “Daddy’s right, we’ll get you cleaned up and you’ll be ok.” She said gentle echoing all Nash said , but glancing at him only briefly.
“No, just his leg.” Lyndal said in direct answer to Nash’s question. “I was tickling him and he fell, I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful.” She explained and apologized with fleeting eye contact. She knew he was worried, she had been too, but now she was more worried what he might say to her. Dal was surprised then when he asked if she was ok, Looking down at Travis she nodded. “Yea I’m fine, he’s pretty light and it wasn’t a far walk.” She said looking up at him again, “I am sorry.” Apologizing was all she could think to do now the damage was done.

Nash smiled lightly as Lyndal tried to cover for his son by saying he only cried a little. Nash didnt care if Travis had been crying or not if he was hurt. All that mattered was that they were both alright now. He could see how comforting she was being to him, rubbing his back and reassuring him it was alright. Nash had never seen the two of them look so close before. He was surprised at how much Travis was allowing, knowing he had been acting.
Nash nodded as Lyndal agreed that they'd get him cleaned up and he'd be okay. "We have a first aid kit in the office and some chairs so you can sit down while we get it bandaged" He told them both.
Nash listened as Lyndal apologized for what happened, taking the blame on herself. He could see how guilty she felt as she avoided looking into his eyes. "It's okay, its just a cut and he's a kid, they fall and get hurt. It happens" He said understandingly. He knew that it would have been just as easy for Travis to have fallen under his watch. He didnt blame Lyndal for what happened.

She wasn’t trying to imply crying was shameful she just wanted to make Travis feel better about the incident even that seemed to back fire. Lyndal really wasn’t sure she was capable of saying or doing anything right as she stood there. The only thing she seemed to be doing right was holding Travis, feeling him cling to her she felt closer to him then she had since she’d arrived. Rubbing his back gentle and maintaining a contact with him, she couldn’t help wishing she was the one been held. She felt guilty and on the verge of tears but she wouldn’t let Travis see her cry, Dal knew it was just the emotion and frustration trying to fight its way out.
Offering a weak smile Lyndal looked towards the office and took a few steps that way. She needed and wanted to sit down, but somehow no matter how guilty she felt she couldn’t step away from Nash. As always Lyndal felt pulled to him. “Are you coming too? I’m sure you’re better with the cuts and scraps then me.” She asked trying to make it seem as much for Travis’ benefit as her own. “But I can do it if you’re busy.” She said looking back to the car he’d been working on.
Not making eye contact killed her, but she wasn’t sure she’d like what she saw there. If he blamed her or was mad at her Lyndal was sure her heart would break and she’d die a little inside. When he spoke so reassuringly she finally looked at him. “I should have been more careful with tickling him. Nashal I’m so sorry.” She said gently biting her lower lip that she was sure was trembling. “I’ll be more careful.” She said feeling every bit her teenage years and the gap between them. Maybe she was overacting, but she knee how much Travis meant to Nash and that only made the guilt worst.
Moving towards the office Lyndal took a seat gently still holding Travis to her and waiting for Nash. She rubbed Travis’ back gently feeling completely at ease with comforting the child even though she wasn’t at facing his father. Never for a second did she doubt her feelings for either of them.

Nash walked with Lyndal (who was still holding Travis) across the garage to the office where the first aid kit was. "No, I'm not busy, in fact I just finished up with that one. Day can handle anything else today, I help with this and the three of us can go home" He said knowing he wanted to get it bandaged before anymore dirt got in it.
He opened the office door for Lyndal and cleared off a couple of the chairs from the paperwork that had been on top it so they had someplace to sit. He heard Lyndal tell him how she should have been more careful tickling him and apologized again. As he looked at her he could see seh was on the verge of tears. Nash reached over and gently rubbed her arm trying to offer her some comfort but not being able to hug her (easily) while she had his son.
"Its okay, he's gotten hurt on my watch too...with kids it just happens, you do your best, but sometimes there's accidents. I know you're careful with him...I wouldnt have let you pick him up if I didnt think that" Nash told her, then looking to Travis seeing he was staying on her lap as she sat. "And he doesnt seem to blame you, so don't be so hard on yourself" He told her.

Lyndal was relieved to hear that Nash was done for the day. Although she wasn’t to spend more time with Travis in the future, right then all she wanted to do was go home lock her bed room door and cry at the disaster that had been the afternoon. “Good.” She mumbled as she started to follow him towards the rear of the garage. “Home sounds good, huh?” She said to herself and Travis.
Sitting on the chair Lyndal moved Travis so her could sit with his legs hanging down to let Nash take care of it. The feel of Nash rubbing her arm was all it took for the tears that had been held back to fall. Lyndal felt the tear run down her cheek, reaching up with her now free arm she rubbed the tear away. “Sorry.” She mumbled not sure if she was apologizing for the tears or what had happened. Even with Travis on her knee Lyndal still wanted to be in Nash’s arms she just wasn’t sure if he wanted her there.
Listening to Nash try to put her at ease Lyndal could hear the logic in his words but she still felt guilty. Looking down at Travis she smiled seeing that he didn’t seem to blame her, but still blaming herself. “Yea, I guess.” She mumbled still feeling tears in her eyes and the trail of them on her cheeks. “I will be more careful though Nash.” she told him looking up at him feeling her eyes brim with tears again, but pushing them back.

Travis nodded as Lyndal said how home sounded good. "I wanna go home" He told them both. Just a few hours earlier he would have specified going home with daddy, but now he wanted them all to go home.
Nash got out the first aid kit and opened it up as Lyndal and Travis took a seat. He saw the tear fall before she apologized again. "Its okay" He said softly wishing he could be more reassuring to them both. It seemed the two people he cared most about both needed him yet he felt like he wasnt doing nearly enough for either, not if they were still crying.
Nash could see by the look in Lyndal's eyes that she still blamed herself despite what he had said. He wanted to just go over and kiss her, assuring her it was silly blame but knowing how Travis had been with them getting close he didnt want to ruin the moment his son was having with his imprintee. He nodded as she told him she'd be more careful. While he thought she was careful enough he wanted her to know he believed her. "I know you will"
Nash got out the rubbing alcohol knowing he had to clean out the scrape before he covered it. "Trav, its gonna sting a little okay? But then it'll be all done and we can go home and make ice cream sundaes"
Travis teared up as he looked at his daddy but then nodded. His tiny fist still clutche at Lyndal's shirt.

“I know bean.” Lyndal said as she looked down at Travis trying her best to put a bright smile on her face, but she knew it was probably a poor attempt. “Lets get you cleaned up then we will, ok?” She said squeezing him a little.
Lyndal didn’t want to be crying in front of Nash, she knew both of their concern should be turned to Travis and not her. She wished he hadn’t seen the tear and when he spoke she nodded and tried again to smile. “I’m fine” She said pulling her lips into a tight lines smile. “Lets just see to Trav.” She nodded again not wanting to be harsh to Nash, just trying to get the attention off herself. The truth was she wanted very much to be in his arms.
"I know you will"
Even though Lyndal felt terrible for the accident she could see that it had brought her and Travis a little closer. Holding his little body against her own she felt closer to him then she had since she’d arrived. It was important, she knew that if she and Nash had a future Travis had to be accepting and included in them.
As Nash spoke believingly of her been more careful she tried a less watery smile.
Looking down at the scrape on Travis knee Lyndal glanced up to Nash seeing the love he had for his son only made her fall more in love with him. She did love him; she’d known that since she first met him, she just hoped the accident hadn’t made him doubt her ability to be a carer for his son and in turn his feelings. “Doesn’t that sound nice?” She said putting her cheek to Travis’ head
As Travis clutched at her Lyndal forgot all about her fear of losing Nash, in that instant she focused on Travis. “Yellow, blue and green little bean, don’t cry . Yellow, blue and green lets keep those eyes dry. Yellow, blue and green little bean, lets fly; Away to the place where boo boos all hide. Little bean, don’t cry, dry your eyes lets fly.” She repeated in a gentle tone as Nash rubbed the scrape. Her cheek rested on his head and her words directed into his ear, but her eyes were focused on Nash.

Nash looked at Lyndal a little curiously as she called his son bean, having never heard that nickname before but thinking it cute. He wondered if it was an australian term for little boy or something. He nodded as Lyndal told him to just see to Travis. He hoped he hadn't upset her in his attempts to reassure her. He just hated to see her blame herself for an accident.
After waiting for the acknowlegement from his son to go ahead after the promise of going home and having icecream, Nash began cleaning up the wound, trying to be as gentle as possible with his son. As he cleaned it up he could hear Lyndal talking to Travis again, saying some kind of rhyme that didnt make sense to him but seemed to distract Travis from the sting. Nash smiled lightly thinking it was sweet of Lyndal. He never knew she was so good with children. He honestly hadnt been sure she'd ever get through to Travis but was thrilled to see he was wrong.
After a few more moments he had a couple neon colored bandaids over where the scrape had been. "All done! You did great." He told Travis, gently rubbing his back. He then looked to Lyndal and mouthed a Thank you to her.

The whole time she said the rhyme Lyndal kept her eyes locked on Nash, she liked to watch him care for his son. She though about maybe one day having a family with him, giving Travis a brother or sister. She’d smiled as he looked at her saying the rhyme but not feeling at all self conscious.
“You were so brave.” Lyndal smiled setting Travis down on his own to feet next to her, giving him a bright smile and her attention. “Why don’t you go show uncle Daylan you’re plasters?” She suggested.
Once Travis had left Lyndal stood and moved closer to Nash. “I really am sorry, Nash.” She said quickly before he could say anything. “It was uneven ground and I was tickling him. I’ll understand if you don’t want me to take him out again.” She stammered feeling suddenly like an incompetent baby sitter not a prospective parent.

Nash closed up the first aid kid and put it away as he watched Lyndal set Travis down as she told him how brave he was.
Travis nodded as Lyndal suggested he go show his new bandaids to Uncle Daylan. He ran off out of the office and out back towards the garage.
Nash looked through the window in the door making sure Travis had reached Day before turning his full attention back to Lyndal who was apologizing once again. "Dal, I am very protective of my son. I'd put him in a bubble if I thought it would help. I wouldnt trust just anyone to watch him because he's been my life since he's been born" Nash told her seriously. "But I trust you with him, I know you wouldn't be careless with him. You're attentive and loving...and I could see just now how good you are with him. Kids fall, I dont blame you for that. If you still want to watch him sometime, I'd be glad to let you. I know he's in good hands."

When Nash spoke so seriously Dal couldn’t help but wait for the negative, him telling her she couldn’t take care of Travis again or that he wanted to break up with her completely. When nothing bad came Lyndal smiled, it felt like the first genuine smile since Travis had fallen.
“I like being with him. Holding him and feeling him clutch on to me…” She let her words trail of not wanting to over step any boundaries, but still wanting Nash to know how much been close to Travis meant to her. “I was so scared when he fell.” She said licking her lips with nerves again and falling silent.
“Bean.” She laughed remembering the look he’d given her. “Its what my mum used to say to us when we’d fall and get hurt. I remembered it the minute he fell.” She said looking over her shoulder and out into the garage where Travis was with Daylan. “Can i…” She stammered not finishing the words. Instead she step towards Nash and rested her head on his chest enjoying the comfort and moment alone with him.

Nash smiled as he listened to Dal saying how she liked being with his son. "From the way things look today I think he likes spending time with you too" Nash said, surprised at how true that was. He had been worried that today would have been a disaster, but the two of them seemed to have gotten closer.
Nash nodded as she said how scared she was when he fell. "Its because you're scared and were so worried about him that I know I can trust him with you, you obviously care about him too, I know you'll watch out for him"
He laughed as she explained that bean was what her mother had called her when they fell. "Its cute, and he seems to like it." He told her. He watched her look out into the garage and then start to ask him something, he looked at her confused for a moment, wondering what he could do to help her, and then she stepped forward towards him and layed her head on his chest. He smiled lightly and put his arms gently around her, holding her there.
