Connor knew that for the short time they had actually known each other, to tell her that their meeting was the best day of his life was probably a little much, but it was the truth, and he still wasn't sure that she knew how special she was, in general and to him. Her smile made him glad he told her.
Telling her about how her sister should be taking better care of her, was another matter. He wasn't sure if he was speaking out of place talking badly about her sister, but it was hard for him to see just how little she looked out for Dawn. They had met because her sister had left her alone and Dawn got lost (and could have been hurt) and now she had to go through this experience...Connor's protectiveness of her just came out. But he could see that his words had made Dawn a little uncomfortable, always thinking the best of her sister.
"You're okay right now...but you don't know they could come back" He said not trying to scare her but honestly worried about the possibility. The jerks who did this now knew how vulnerable she was. It was likely that they could come back again, knowing they'd get away with it because she was impaired. He pulled her closer to him, rubbing her back lightly, hoping he hadn't upset her worse with his words. "I'm sorry" He apologized.
She was now sobbing into his arms and he wished he could find a way to take all of her pain into himself. "I should have been here" He said knowing as much as he wanted to have been there sooner to stop it, it wasn't really reasonable with the logistics of their living situation. It was why he had to ask her to move in with him. It was the only way he could see to know this wouldnt happen again, and a step in their relationship he knew he was ready to take.
He nodded as she asked if he really meant it, even if she couldnt tell he was nodding. "Yes" He said not sure how she felt about the idea. "I know its soon and we haven't been together that long. But I love you. I hate being away from you...my place isn't much but we'd be together, and its safer there..I'd be right there anytime you needed me"

Dawn pulled her lower lip in between her teeth, chewing on it nervously as a small surge of fright travelled up her spine at the suggestion that the men might come back. Conflict marred her face as she wrestled over loyally supporting her sister in the blatant face of fact. Her shoulder sank a little, her face plainly betraying what she was thinking, having no reason or idea to hide her emotion behind a poker face. She breathed deeply into his chest as he pulled her closer and apologised. In response, she wrapped her arms round the small of his back and rested against him gently. She didn’t blame him for his realistic words, but it made her want to selfishly keep him there with her.
She shook her head sniffing away the remnants of her grief. “No,” she told him, trying to steady her voice without much success. “I can’t expect you to be here all the time, not when you have so much to do. It’s not fair to you.” She swallowed, her fingers digging tightly into his shirt as if anchoring herself against him despite her words. If she had it her way then she would never let him go, not even to do the most ordinary things – like going to the shops or work, but she knew that would be impossible even if they lived next door to each other.
Moving in with Connor at this point was something that she hadn’t dared think about too much in order to stop herself from being disappointed, but he said that he meant it. A strange excited buzzing sounded in her ears, distorting her otherwise crystal-clear hearing. Everything he said increased her excitement, unintentionally fulfilling everything she wanted from him. It would solve everything; it really was the perfect solution! She smiled brightly, though her eyes were still quite red and puffy from a few minutes ago.
“Connor, I love you so much – I didn’t even think it was possible for me,” she paused, her hands making contact with him again, unwilling to break her hold. “And – and I would love to live with you if you want to have me … and I always need you in one way or another.”

Connor regretted bringing up the possibility of the men coming back. While it was a valid concern, he knew it was probably a subject better brought up at a later time and not so soon after the first break in when she was already so fragile and frightened. But now that the words were out, he knew all he could do was try to reassure her and be supportive. She hugged him in response to his apology, though he knew she should probably be yelling at him for his inappropriate comments.
"You can expect me to be here any time you need me...or at least I want you too. No matter how much I have to do, or what you see as fair to me, when you need me, that's when I should be here. And I wasn't earlier, and I know neither of us had a way to know you'd need me then...but it doesnt stop me hating the fact I wasn't here, knowing I could have made sure they never tried coming near you again" Connor said knowing he was tough enough, even without being in wolf form to scare a group of intruders.
Moving in seemed like the best solution to Connor but he also knew it was selfish. He'd have wanted her to move in even before this happened, just to be near her, was he just taking advantage of the situation now, while she was in a vulnerable state? It worried him that he was, and also that she'd think it was way too quick in their relationship and in turn pull back from him. He was so uncertain about whether she had felt as strongly as he had in that same instant they met. He imprinted when he saw her, but if she didnt see him, did she still feel it? Or was it just normal feelings on her end that he was contending with and had gotten lucky that she even was interested in him a little?
Seeing her smile was the best reassurance possible that his suggestion hadn't offended her. He smiled back listening to her, and enjoying the feel of her hands. "I would love to have you live with me" He assured her, not able to stop himself from leaning in and giving her a kiss. "I can't promise that things will be perfect now if live with me, but I will do everything I can to make it close to it and to give you everything you need and want...just being able to see you every day, not having to miss you so much on days when we're apart, its the best gift you could give me"

Just hearing of the security that Connor promised to bring to their relationship comforted Dawn no end, despite the frazzled nerves she had from the occurrences of the night so far. Every time she thought she had a handle on what had happened the whole rush of fear and emotion came hurtling back, making her dig her fingers further into her boyfriend's shirt, particularly when he was saying that he would always be there for her. Still, though, she wasn't fond of being the high maintenance girlfriend demanding his attention when she already knew that him just being with her was more work than he necessarily had to take on with anyone else.
"You're so good to me, Connor," she said quietly, her voice full of gratitude and love, shaking her head a little as she wondered to herself what good deed she had done in a past life to deserve a man so wonderful as him. She took one of his big hands, exploring it with her delicate fingers. "But you can't be everywhere at once. I would always call you when I need you - I'm not sure I'd be able to stop myself from doing it, but don't feel bad for not being here in the first place."
Dawn's already spectacular grin only grew to a full on beam as Connor confirmed that he would love for her to live with him. The distortion in her hearing became a full on buzz and the world inside her head was suddenly alive with the full spectrum of colour that she hadn't seen in such a long time, which she had almost forgotten how to see. She was so happy, which was tiring after the depression of earlier that evening. Sensing him move closer and feeling his lips on her, she kissed him back, putting the full throttle of her feeling into it and holding him close.
"Living with you could never be anything but perfect," she told him honestly, her unseeing green eyes wide and sincere as she gazed vaguely upwards to where she assumed his head would be, though she was a little further off than usual given the distortion of sound that the excitement of the situation was giving her. "I don't need much, just you."

Connor felt warmed to hear that Dawn thought that he was good to her. He tried but didn't think he did enough for her. He was happy to hear that she was happy with the amount he was doing. He let her take ahold of his hand and do whatever with it she liked as his eyes explored her face and the amount of emotion it showed. "I don't know if I can stop myself from feeling bad about not being there either" He told her. "But I dont want you to feel bad about needing me with you or wanting to call me. You never need to even hesitate"
Seeing how her face lit up as they spoke of the idea of moving in together made Connor's excitement grow. He couldn't wait to spend each day with her. He wanted to be there to look out for her, and provide for her every need and want. He hoped that springing the idea of this on her after such a traumatic experience wasn't taking advantage of her situation. He saw how happy she seemed and could only hope she would have had that same happiness if he had asked her before the events of today. When she returned his kiss his worries were calmed.
"You're all I need too, but I want to give you more" Connor told her. "We'll make it feel like home for you too, whatever you need to feel comfortable and safe there. " Safe. As Connor thought over the word he wondered just how safe she'd actually feel if she knew she was moving in with someone who was only human some of the time. He knew he'd have to find a way to tell her.

Dawn chewed her lip gently, unable to really focus on everything all at once: the encounter, the rescue, the fact that she had someone that would rescue her. So she just focused on Connor. She'd never really thought she would be lucky enough to fall in love - or be loved in return. But, God, she was ecstatic that it had happened to her. Sure, maybe, technically, it was a bit early to be bandying about the 'L' word, but if she felt it and he felt it then what was wrong with that? Thought of him pushed all the badness that had just happened out of her conscious mind, at least for the moment, and that she could only see as a good thing.
"Okay," she said softly, her fingers brushing lightly over him in a constant attempt to reassure and remind herself that he was there for her, along with his words that did the same. "Okay, if you promise not to feel bad about not being here when something you couldn't predict happened and I will start loving the fact that you don't see my neediness as a bad thing. I like that."
A soft smile, calmer than before, altered her features and she leaned forward to lead her head on his peculiarly warm chest, though she found the temperature comforting. "Oh, don't worry about me... I don't have much stuff, I don't think... I'll feel more at home with you than I ever will here." It was true, this was definitely her sister's place, not hers and when they had emigrated from England they had been forced to get rid of a lot of personal clutter. Dawn ended up losing quite a bit there, with her sister's mentality that if she couldn't see the ornaments she had, then why would she miss them? "My sister'll probably have a field day when we tell her," she mused.
