Lyndal tried to be the perfect house guest while staying with her exchange family. Her room was always tidy, she kept to their rules and tried to help with chores as she was doing now. Standing at the sink Lyndal stared out at the back yard, her mind was concentrating on anything but the dishes. Lyndal was finding more and more that her mind was never on what it was suppose to be, Nash was always at the forefront of her mind.
Right then as she stared out at the yard letting her eyes wanted over the bike, balls and other toys strewn around Dal knew she should be thinking about the assignments stuffed away in the bottom of her bag. School was the last thing on her mind. Lyndal was thinking about dinner, sitting there a few feet from Nash pretending as if she was nothing more then a house guest. It was as far from the truth as they could both be, with their weekend early morning bed sharing and stolen kissing, it was certainly not platonic friendship.
Dipping her hands back into the water Dal grabbed another dish soaping it up as she thought about what Nash was doing. When she’d left the room to do the dishes he’d been taking a tired Travis to bed, now she wasn’t sure. Sometimes Lyndal found been in the same house with him, but not seeing him was harder then seeing him and not been next to him. Rinsing the dish she stacked it with the others and started on another.

Nash bent down over his son once he was tucked into bed and already drifting off and placed a kiss on his forehead. "Sweet dreams buddy. I love you" He whispered softly to his son. He stood up and smiled for a moment watching how peaceful his son looked sleeping there. Quietly Nash left the bedroom they shared and closed the door behind him.
Nash peaked into Lyndal's room and saw that she wasn't there so assumed she had helped with the dishes as she frequently did. He thought it was great of her to be so helpful around the house. He appreciated it and was sure that his Aunt and Uncle did too. He wanted to see her and decided to go help her finish.
Nash walked into the kitchen a moment later and saw Lyndal with her back towards him, her hands scrubbing at the dishes in the sink. He walked up behind her and gently placed a hand on her back not wanting to scare her. "Want some help? I could dry?" He offered, looking for the towel.

The splashing of the water and her wandering mind added to her missing the sound of the door opening and someone entering the kitchen. The hand on the small of her startled her a little, but through the thin shirt she wore she could feel the heat and knew it was Nash. It wasn’t a surprised to her that she hadn’t heard him, he often moved to quietly she didn’t hear him.
Relaxing back against his hand she smiled at the touch and the sound of his voice. Her heart rate quickened at his closeness, as it did every time she was near him. “That’d be great.” Dal said turning her head towards the sound of his voice. Looking into his eyes stalled her and she felt her hands stop washing the dish in the sink. It took a few seconds to start again, “Erm yea, drying is good.” She said less then eloquently.
Pulling her eyes from Nash Dal looked back down at the sink and the murky water. “Is Trav sleeping? He looked so tired at dinner.” She said trying to keep her mind on the task at hand not the memory of their last stolen kiss. “must have been a hard day at school.” she joked with a smile.

Nash could tell that he had surprised her at first as he joined her in the kitchen but without even turning around he also felt her relax as she knew he was the one who had come up behind her. It was comforting to know that she recognized him as easily as he would have her, without even needing to see her. He felt a difference anytime she was in the room.
Nash smiled at her as she turned her head towards him. He nodded as she agreed to let him dry. "Okay then "He agreed with a nod, reaching past her to grab the towel and smiling at their closeness, which just increased the warmth in his heart.
He nodded as he took one of the wet dishes and started drying. "Yeah, I think his head had barely hit the pillow before he was out" He said then smirking as she suggested it had been a hard day at school for him. "Coloring and nap time are hard subjects"

Even doing house hold chores together improved Lyndal’s day, school wasn’t exactly going well like it had at home. Here she was distracted and failing. As Nash leaned passed her to grab the cloth Dal froze again and her breath hitched, having him so close was amazingly invigorating no matter how many times it happened. Returning his smile she tried to push herself on and back to the dishes.
Hearing about Travis made Dal smile again, she loved the little boy even if he was growing colder to her recently. “Yea I guess those subjects really take it out of his baby body.” She joked with him. “I wouldn’t mind it if High school still had nap time.” she suggested a little less humorously. Between chores, time with Nash and then study when everyone else was asleep she was really failing on the sleep time herself.
“Everyone else watching TV?” she asked wondering if their conversation was been overheard or spied on. His aunt and uncle had given her a home, but she felt a little less welcome the closer she grew to Nash as if they knew what she felt for their nephew.

Nash picked up the change in her breathing patterned as he moved closer to her to get the cloth to dry the dishes. His smile deepened a bit as he met her eyes before moving back to his initial position so that he could dry.
He gave a light laugh as she mentioned not minding if high school still had nap time. "When I was in high school, a few of my classes still ended up being nap time, whether they were called it or not" He told her with a smirk. "Though I don't recommend following my example...on anything really"
He nodded as she asked about the others watching TV. He hoped it was enough to keep his aunt and uncle occupied and not wondering what he and Dal were up to in the kitchen. "Yeah, arguing over whether they should put on a hockey game or a chick flick"

Talking and doing domestic tasks with Nash felt normal and relaxing. It was the little things like this that stopped Dal feeling homesick at all. Laughing as he recommended not following his example she smiled and nodded. “English keeps putting me to sleep. The teacher hates me.” She groaned remember the essay she had to do. “Only Native studies keeps me awake.” She said knowing how much she enjoyed learning about Nash’s culture so as to learn more about him.
“Maybe it’ll keep them occupied enough to give us some privacy.” she said with hope. Dal wanted to be alone with Nash to spend some real time with him. Over the passed few weeks, since she’d arrive, she’d felt herself growing closer to him and wanting to be closer to him. Realizing her word might come off more eager then she meant to Dal quickly spoke again. “I mean not to have them watching over…I mean to have some space.” She said stammering over her words not wanting to offend Nash about his family.
Reaching over to place a dish in front of Nash Dal smiled and flicked bubbles at him playfully. “Figured this may as well be fun as a chore.” She laughed.

"I think math put me to sleep the most. Once the teacher stops talking in sentences and only uses formulas with numbers and letters, my mind stops wanting to follow...better than any lullaby" Nash told her, surprised to hear which class she found most interesting. "Really? I would've thought it'd seem boring to you"
"That's what I'm hoping" Nash agreed, as Dal echoed his hopes of his aunt and uncle leaving them in peace for awhile. He nodded and looked away as she clarified her words, seeming to downplay them more. He wondered if she was trying to make sure he didnt get the wrong idea from her. Maybe he had been moving too quickly with her. "Right...its nice not to have them hovering"
His worry was broken as she flicked a few bubbles at him. He joined in her laughter as she explained making the chore fun. "The most fun I've had doing dishes" He told her, reaching forward and flicking a few back at her.

“No I think Native studies are really interesting. I want to learn more about your culture and history.” She said with a smile wanting him to see how open she was to his way of life. “Math is boring to me too, but I guess I can’t come to you for tutoring.” She smiled and laughed lightly.
Hearing Nash echo her words made her smile, she hoped so much that he could feel the bond between them; the pull and connection. “They hover around us whenever we’re together, its like their waiting for something.” Dal said gently thinking of al the times they stalked them and stuck around so they couldn’t be alone. “It’d be nice to be alone with you and not have to worry about them walking in.” She said with a shrug hoping he’d see that she wanted to be alone with him.
As he flicked bubbles back to her Dal laughed again and pushed his hand away gently as she reached out with her other hand cupping up the water and throwing it at him. “This is war now Nash.” she smiled and joked moving towards him to wipe her hands on his shirt as they played.

Nash smiled pleased to hear that she was so interested in learning about his tribe's culture and history. It was important to him and he was glad she was open to it. "You'll have to let me know how our culture and history differs from yours in australia, since I can't take a course in it" He told her, sincerely interested in hearing more from her as well. He laughed lightly as they spoke of math. "You can still come to me for tutoring if you need help...we'll look up the answers together"
"It's like they already know we've done a few things they'd disapprove of" He said, a little nervous to mention it, not wanting her to think he regretted it or thought their mornings together or kisses were wrong. He knew in his heart it was more right than anything. He nodded, agreeing that it would be nice to be alone. "We'll have to find a way to get that more often"
Nash laughed a bit louder as she thew the water at him.She then moved to wipe her hands on his shirt and he rolled up the towel and swatted it at her hands. "Nuh uh, if this is war you can't cross lines to get dry"

“I’ll teach you Aussie culture and you can tutor me on all the other school stuff.” she nodded liking any excuse to spend more time with him.
The thought of them knowing about their stolen mornings and shared kisses worried Dal, she was scared they’d make her move out or worst; make her go home to Australia and be without Nash. “Do you think they know?” She asked nervously looking to him for answers. “Maybe morning mornings? Or we could go out….walks or something.” she suggested.
As he swatted at her hands she laughed and dived for his shirt. “Then I’ll wipe them on you and call it an attack.” She joked reaching out to wipe her hands on him. Her feet hadn’t twisted to face Nash as her body had and her feet moved slower sending her staggering a little on to him leaning against his body and the sink. “soldier down.” she laughed leaning against him.
