Post-BD
The cold Alaskan air whipped through Tanya's strawberry blonde locks as she pratically pranced and pirouetted across the snowy landscape before her. She was returning home from a weeklong feast of dining on sealions and polar bears in the Canadian tundra and was fully sated for a good while now; her eye color back to a brilliant hue of gold.
She was running so fast, to the human eye she would've looked like a blur, but to her it felt like she was briskly jogging. As she ran, she considered nothing and everything all at once. She considered how their family was adjusting to their newest coven mate, Garrett, the love of her sister Kate's eternal life. She thought about how he was adjusting to the vegetarian lifestyle, and doing rather well. She was thinking about how good it was to have Kate home and how Carmen and Eleazer were still completely smitten with each other as if they had just fallen in love with each other yesterday.
Tanya was not thinking, however, on the loss of her sister Irina. She avoided that memory at all costs because it made her nonflowing blood boil and then it only brought back the difficult memories of losing their mother so many centuries before. Both losses, no matter how recent or far back, still cut like a knife into the heart.
All theoretical, of course. Her teeth could do more damage than any knife ever could.
When her home came into view she quickened her pace, if that was even physically possible, and was in the front door in a under a minute. A gust of the cold Alaskan air blew in with her and she closed the door behind her, smiling at the sight of the home's interior.
It was good to be home.
"Honeys, I'm home," she called out with a chuckle in her voice.

Eleazar had been leisurely reading an old book in his study. He stood as he flipped through the pages of the leather bound book, taking in each word though he had read this book (and all the others they owned) hundreds of times before. He considered going to town and buying some new releases. They were never as good as the classics, in his opinion. Not being as integrated into human life as their friends/extended family the Cullens were, Eleazar often didn't bother to do things such as sit down, even when it would be normal to do so. He was quite comfortable where he stood. He looked up from his book as he heard the front door closing. Tanya's voice soon made their way through the home causing him to smile.
Eleazar placed his bookmark, a thin red ribbon attached to the spine of the book, onto the page where he was leaving off before replacing the book on the shelf for later amusement. He made his way out into the main entranceway of their home.
"Welcome back Tanya" He told her with a warm smile. "How was the hunting trip?" He asked, hoping that the animals were out in good numbers this time of year. Her eyes reflected that she was well fed.

Tanya smiled in return when Eleazer appeared. "It was wonderful. Canada's wilderness is rather beautiful this time of year. And I dined on the finest polar bears and sealions I could fine," she jested, laughter in her voice. She was always in the best of moods after a thorough feeding.
Sauntering over to her coven mate, she embraced him. "It is good to be home, as always. How was everyone this last week? It feels as if I haven't been gone an hour, and at the same time like I've been gone years. Garrett is still fairing well, I hope." Then as an afterthought, she added, "I was actually thinking that perhaps we could request the assitance of Esme Cullen in building a smaller home on our land for Kate and Garrett, like the Cullens had done for Edward and Bella after their wedding. Some privacy together while being close to us might be a nice thing, right?"

Eleazar smiled as he saw the amusement on Tanya's face as she spoke of her adventure in the wilderness, feasting on polar bears and sealions. Bears were always a nice treat, took some skill to take down and offered them a bit more of a fight. Eleazar glady returned the embrace Tanya gave him.
"Everyone's doing well, I'm sure they're not far from here now" Eleazar said giving a light glance around, knowing it was likely any of the others might walk in at any time. He knew for sure Carmen was not far, she and Eleazar never let too much space get between them, but where on the grounds she was he couldn't place at the moment. "Garrett's working hard...his determination is quite impressive" Eleazar said, with much respect to the nomad who had recently turned vegetarian for Kate's sake. He knew that the boy had far from mastered their lifestyle but he was trying which got him a lot of credit from Eleazar. He smiled as he heard Tanya's idea. "I think that's a lovely idea, I think that would be nice for them...though you should probably speak to Kate before contacting Esme" Eleazar said with a small smile knowing each of the women in their family held strong opinions and where he and Tanya might think it seemed like a good idea, Kate may instead feel differently.

"It's always difficult the first couple of years making the change to our type of lifestyle, especially after so many years living more instinctively," Tanya added to Eleazer's comments on how Garrett was doing. "As long as he is also doing this for himself and not just for Kate. He has to want this for himself as well."
As she glanced at a chair in the living room, Kate couldn't remember how it felt to have her legs grow tired and require to sit. Standing there as comfortably as laying in a bed of feathers, she smirked at Eleazer and folded her arms, not because she had to but because the gesture seemed like the thing to do.
"I would not dare go behind Kate's back and set such a thing up without her spoken permission. I'd be in for a battle royale of sisterly proportions and I don't feel like mussing up my hair if I can avoid it," she jested.

"The first few years are difficult" Eleazar agreed with Tanya, remembering when he and Carmen had joined the Denali coven and adopted to their lifestyle. It was a struggle at times, but a change that he was welcome for and did believe to his core made them more capable of human emotions and bonds over just primal responses. It better suited both his and his wife's personality. Eleazar nodded as Tanya spoke of how Garrett needed to do this for himself as well. "Honestly I'm not sure if it is for himself or just to please her at this point, but I do hope if its not now, he does eventually want it for himself just as much...we both know his chances of truly succeeding otherwise are not good...but so far he's doing quite well I think"
Eleazar's smile grew as Tanya confirmed that she wouldn't dare go behind Kate's back. "I know how you sisters can get, that's a wise decision" He said refraining from comparing jokingly their arguments to those he dealt with among the Volturi guard. Years ago it would have been common for him to bring it up lightheartedly, as it was his experience for many years, but he knew they were all still too fresh from losing Irina at the hands of the Volturi for any comparison, even in jest, to be in good taste. "And you are having a good hair day"

At the comment of her having a good hair day, Tanya grinned like the Cheshire cat and nodded in agreement. "Of course I am," She replied. Then as an afterthought, she reached bent forward and took off her right shoe and tipped it upside down over her free hand; a deck of cards sliding into her palm, packaged neatly in plastic.
"I almost forgot: I stopped at a small store, a few miles outside some town in northern Alberta, on my way home, and I found this lovely deck of cards. I know yours is pretty worn with age an I'm fairly certain one or more of the cards are badly tattered. I thought you would like a new deck since you don't seem to be in any rush to get a new, proper deck for yourself."
Handing the deck to Eleazer, Tanya bent forward enough to slide her shoe back on.

Eleazar's eyebrows raised slightly in curiousity as he watched Tanya take off her shoe and tip it upside down. He watched as the small deck of cards fell into her hand. He smiled as she mentioned having picked it up for him, knowing his was well worn by now. He took the deck from her and looked down at it admiringly before back up at her.
"Thank you, it was very thoughtful of you. And you know it'll get used" Eleazar told her, thinking it a very sweet gesture on Tanya's behalf. The family would often pick up little trinkets for each other on trips out, and they all knew the others tastes so well that any gift always ended up being perfect, and exactly what was needed at the time (though they really didnt need for much, if anything).
"Maybe you can help me break in the deck later on with a game?" He suggested, as he slipped the deck into the front pocket of his pants.
