(Pre Twilight, Nash age 15)
Nash walked Michelle home in silence after their date and dropped her off at the door. Tonight ended up being horrible. The worst possible thing had happened. His girlfriend had told him she was pregnant. Nash knew he was way too young to be a father. He had no idea what to do, and the one thing he did know was that her parents and his aunt and uncle would kill him for being so careless and stupid.
Nash knew he couldnt go home. He couldnt face them now, and tell them what he'd done. He just couldnt. He couldnt even admit to them he was having sex yet, he knew they thought he was way too young for that. And now he knew that the reasons they thought that was because he was too young. He wasnt ready for the responsibility. He was still a kid himself, how was he supposed to handle raising a child of his own?
There was only one person Nash could turn to. Only one person who he could talk to and explain how much he messed up and hope that they'd understand and be able to help him through this. His best friend, who was like a brother to him, Daylan Kele. Nash headed over to his friends house hoping he'd be there and they could talk.
Nash paced outside of Day's door for a little while wondering how to tell his friend what happened. He could barely believe this was happening to him. He hoped that if Day's father was home he woudlnt try to talk to him too much and Nash could just go see Day. He knew if an adult saw his face they'd see the guilt all over it. Taking a deep breath Nash knocked on the door.

Leaning back from the manual Daylan took a large gulp of the soda enjoying the feeling of the bubbles slipping down his throat. It had been a hell of a week at school, but now he was looking forward to a weekend with what he really loved. Engines, more importantly bikes and engines. The weekend spread ahead of him promised to be interesting, he’d been saving up to buy a bike or what his dad called a wreck but Day already loved it. He knew there was a lot of work ahead, but it would be worth it and right with him would be his best friend Nash.
Nash and Day had been friends for so long Day couldn’t imagine them not been friends. Nash was his brother and they shared everything. However, since Nash had started dating Michelle they’d seen less of each other. She was wrong for him, all wrong, a townie and nothing like Nash; Daylan didn’t like her.
Leaning back over the engine guide Day heard the knock on the door, normally he’d have left it for his dad but he was at the Clearwater’s so he knew it was upto him. Pushing the chair back he didn’t car about the scraping sound it made, no one to complain about it. With a shrug he trudged to the door pulling it open without bothering to check who was there.
“Hey bro.” Day said with a friendly smile as he turned and headed back into the house assuming Nash would follow. He had caught the look on his face and didn’t til her turn back to him in the kitchen. To Daylan Nash looked worried, his face was pale and his eyes as big as saucers. “You want soda? Dude you ok?” Day said tossing him a soda without answer. “You fail Math again?”

Nash was relieved when it was Day that opened the door and not Mr. Kele. He wasnt ready to face the polite conversation of how are things, when his whole world had just been turned upside down. "Hey" He responded dimly as he followed Daylan into the house and closed the door behind him. Nash peered into the living room and was relieved to see no sign of his father around.
"Your dad gone tonight?" He said hopefully, before catching the soda can as they reached the kitchen. "Thanks man" He said, looking down at it again, feeling like his world was falling apart. He was desperate and in despair. He felt like a lost child and wanted to crumble but knew that this was the time now that he was expected to be a man and face the consequences of his actions.
"I wish it was something as simple as that" Nash said as Day asked if he failed math. He'd have given anything to trade his current situation with failing a class and needing to go to summer school. "Day, I messed up, really bad, and...I can't get out of this one"

Hey wasn’t the normal reply Day got from Nash. Usually there was a smart comment or a continued conversation form the last time they hung out. To day this seemed flat and instantly he wondered what was up with his friend, never one for emotions or serious stuff but he worried now. “Hey Bro.” He offered in return letting Nash into the empty house.
“yea he’s at the Clearwaters for a game with the cop from town.” Day said pulling his own can from the cooler and flicking it open. He watched Nash with interest trying to read what little the other guy was giving off, whatever it was it had him freaked. Day knew Nash and this certainly wasn’t the normal him.
“Can’t get out of it? Dude what’s up? You crash a car?” He asked with a jovial tone trying to lighten the mood. Day knew something was up. Though Nash was never quiet as laid back as him. Day knew he wasn’t this uptight. “Nash, man whatever it is we can take this.” He offered.

Nash just nodded as he barely registered the explaination that Daylan gave of where his father was, just hearing that he was in fact gone from the house as Nash had hoped. He knew he couldnt go through with this in front of Day's father. As it was his stomach was turning and he wasn't sure how he'd get the words out. Telling someone else what had happened meant admitting it out loud that this wasn't something he could close his eyes and make go away. It was reality. A painful, horrible, life changing reality.
Nash heard Day's attempt at lightening the mood, but it only made him feel worse, wishing that was his only problem. A crashed truck could be fixed. Or if not fixed, he could eventually save up for a new one. This was a life, a life that he had created at the age of 15 when he knew now he was no where near ready to be a father.
"Day, I can't do it...I just can't deal with it" He said setting the soda down on the counter as he felt his stomach turn. "Its Michelle..." He said feeling his voice catch in the back of his throat. "I got her pregnant..."

Throwing his buddy a look gave Daylan time to process his best friend’s emotions, it was written all over his face and he knew it was more serious then car trouble. When Nash spoke again Day nodded, “True you can fix about anything.” He said with a smirk wishing Nash was as good with bikes as he was with cars. Then his friend continued to speak seeming to stumble over his words. It was about Michelle, Day knew that girl would only be trouble; Townies usually were.
“Dude.” he gasped wide eyed as the last line of Nash’s stumbled speech came out. Pregnant? That was huge. They were 15. All the things rolled through his mind at once. Daylan was shocked, he was suppose to be the reckless one (and he was still a virgin) not Nash. Nash was responsible and controlled. “Dude. Are you sure? I mean, did she do a test?”
Though he wasn’t about to voice it, yet, Daylan worried it was all lies. He knew Nash would be better off without Michelle and he wondered if she sensed that too and this was to trap him. He’d never say it to Nash now, he was just going to shut up about that and be supportive.
“Dude, whatever it is. Man I’m here.” he said reaching out to clasp his best friend on the shoulder with a hard, firm grip. “But Nashal, you need to talk with her. You’re 15 dude.” Day wasn’t judging or yelling, that was for the grown ups, he just wanted his friend to know he needed to sort it all

Nash could hear the confidence his friend had in his ability to fix anything. He knew they were just talking about bikes and cars but he wished that fixing ability could transfer over to all of his problems. "This can't be fixed. It can't be undone, and my aunt and uncle are gonna flip, they'll kill me" Nash said not even wanting to face them with this.
Nash told his best friend everything in that one little world. It was enough that he knew Day would know why it was so terrible. Day was the only person he could confide in right now and admit just how much he had screwed up his life and Michelle's. It had been stupid and irresponsible. Nash nodded as Day asked if he was sure. "She showed me the test when I came over, it was positive"
Nash lowered his head as his friend gave him a reassuring grip on the shoulder. "Thanks" He said as Daylan assured him he'd be there for him. "I dont know what to do...I can't be a father at 15...and she already told me she's not getting an abortion. What am I supposed to do? "

As soon as the panic and fear became evident in Nash’s voice Day quit all the jokes. He knew his friend well enough to know that something serious must be happening. “Dude, whatever it is I’m sure they’ll support you.” He said “ And me and my dad are here for you, you know that.”
Daylan hated to be so negative about someone his best friend thought he was in love with, but the fact was Day didn’t trust Michelle. Hearing that Nash had seen the test still held some doubts but he didn’t voice them. “Bro, damn.” Was all Day could say, he knew the adults would yell and curse him out enough along with the questions of how and why, Nash didn’t need that from him too.
“You already are, man.” Daylan said, believing firmly in taking responsibility even before birth. Although Day wasn’t in the situation he hoped he have the guts to step up if it happened to him. “You need to talk to Michelle. Would she get rid of it? What did her parents say?” Day said as the question fell out with out thought.

"Not this" Nash replied scared as his friend voiced that his aunt and uncle would still support him. Nash wondered if they'd kick him to the curb and just see him as a no good teenager that they wished they had never brought into the house. "Thanks man" He added as Day said that he and his dad would be there for him. Nash wondered if he'd be coming back in the next day or so asking to stay on the couch.
Nash nodded as Day responded. He was grateful that Day didnt start ragging on him too about how irresponsible he'd been in letting this happen. He'd definitely learned his lesson the hard way, and knew that the other grown ups in his life would be pointing out all his faults soon enough.
Nash sighed as Day reminded him that ready or not to be a father, he already was one. He knew he was too young. "I dont know...I know she wont terminate but I dont know if she'd give it away...I dont know if I'd want her to either knowing that was my kid?" He said shaking his head, so unsure of everything. "She hasnt told her parents yet, she thought I should leave before she did...they're gonna hate me" He told him. "Do you think I should marry her?"

Daylan knew it must be bad if Nash honestly thought his uncle and aunt wouldn’t be able to get passed it, they already been there for him in Nash’s worst times. ‘Dude they’ll have your back, whatever it is.” He said hoping he was right, but knowing even if he wasn’t he’d always have his bro’s back. “No thanks needed, man, we’re brothers.” He said with a upbeat nod and smile.
Even though day hadn’t even thought about kids, he knew hearing Nash say it, that he wouldn’t want his child somewhere out in the world without him. “yea, that’s would be horrible. Always wondering what he or her is doing. Maybe you and her can work something out?” He offered trying to help his friend.
“Not hate you, but I’m sure they’ll hit the roof. You aunt and uncle will too, but I’m sure they’ll calm down. You can lay low here if you need til it blows over.” He offered knowing his father would be cool with it, though probably after giving Nash a good slap for been so dumb and yelling at Day to learn form his mistakes.
“What? No. You can’t marry her just coz she’s pregnant. Do you even love her? I though you two were breaking up?” Daylan asked wondering where they were in the relationship. “You’re 15 Nash, you can marry her.” He told him sternly.

Nash nodded, trying to believe what Day was saying, that no matter what his family would have his back but he wasn't so sure. He was glad he had Day. No matter what, Nash always knew his best friend/brother would stand by him and help him out, just like Nash would do for him.
"And I'd hate for the kid to grow up feeling like it wasn't wanted, or it wasn't good enough. Its not the baby's fault its parents were stupid" Nash said shaking his head, wondering if he could work something out with Michelle. "How do I raise a kid? I'm still in high school"
"Thanks, I may need to take you up on that once they find out" Nash said knowing he'd probably need to get away from the house for a bit, even if his aunt and uncle hadn't kicked him out yet. But then again they might have him grounded for the rest of his life too.
"But isn't marrying her the right thing to do? I mean I got her into this mess" Nash said, not even sure if it was the right thing. "I dont know...sometimes I think I love her, or that I will if I dont now" Nash said unsure of how to answer it.

Even as Day spoke the words he knew there was a chance that Nash’s family might not have his back, but he knew he would. No matter what Day was gonna be there for Nash and he knew his dad would be too.
“Maybe the best thing for the kid is to give it what you and her can’t.” Daylan tried not to sneer the his reference to her, but it was hard. He was sure she’d done this to Nash to trap him. “Dude you can’t raise it, like you say you ain’t even done with school. What you gonna do with it when its school or how you gonna pay for it man?” He asked trying to be practical. Daylan knew maybe the best thing for the kid would be with adoptive parents, Nash’s family were totally not loaded. Daylan felt horrible saying the things he said, but he knew Nash needed some voice of reason to thing it all out before his family yelled it at him.
“Dude you’re welcome here anytime. My dad’ll be cool with it.” he said slapping Nash on the shoulder and nodding at the couch. “You can take the guest bed.” he joked.
“No, you both got in this mess. She’s not exactly innocent, man.” Day reminded him trying to show him it wasn’t his blame. Day believed she tricked him, got herself pregnant to ruin his best friend. “If you loved her you’d know not just think it. You can’t marry her.” He sneered her address this time. “Don’t marry her dude.”

Nash wanted to cry as he stood there in front of his best friend. He was scared and wanted to just act like a child and cry until some adult came along and made it better. But he knew he couldnt do that. He had to become a man, be the adult, and take responsibility for what he had done.
Nash frowned as Day suggested that maybe they needed to give the kid what he and Michelle couldnt. He knew that was something they had to consider, but his gut reaction was that he couldnt do it. "Maybe that would be best...I just dont know if I can let someone else just take the kid, not knowing what kind of parents they'll be, or if they'd abuse the baby, or neglect it..." He said, not sure he'd even be that great of a father himself but knowing there were bad ones out there. He nodded as Day said how he couldnt raise it. "You're right...I cant afford it, I dont have time, I'm not smart enough or mature enough to make those kind of decisions a parent does...maybe...maybe I should try to talk her into ending it...just forget this ever happened" He said feeling guilty even suggesting it, knowing he'd never be able to go through with it.
Nash gave a half smile as Day told him how he was welcome anytime and could even have the guest bed. "Thanks, I might need to start paying rent...I dont know that they'll let me stay after this...I'm too much trouble for them..."
Nash tried to believe his friend that it was both of their faults, not just his but it was hard for him to not just blame himself. "I dont know how I could've let it happen" He said still thinking maybe the right thing to do was marry her, at least he'd be less of a disgrace to his family that way. "I got her pregnant...even if I dont know completely that I love her, isnt it the right thing? Do right by her and the baby?"

Daylan had known Nash long enough to know he was scared. Day knew how he’d be feeling if it was happening to him, but he was still a virgin so he was clear of that for a while. The truth was, but Day couldn’t say it, Nash needed to step up and be the man now this baby needed it with Michelle as its mother.
Seeing his friend’s frown Day prepared himself for a fight on the advice he’s given. “Dude they check those people out good. You need to do whats best for the baby now, I mean you and her are hardly going to be able to give it the perfect life. I know it sounds bad, but do you really wanna be a dad right now?” Day knew he couldn’t actually know how bad Nash was feeling or how bad it sounded to hear your best friend suggest you dump your baby, but he just wanted to give some advice and help his friend. Hearing Nash suggest a termination seemed more scary then adoption, it was killing a life that was made in love, at some point. Day wasn’t sure where he stood on abortion, but he knew he’s support Nash if that was his final decision. “You gotta be sure dude.” He said strongly.
“Lets go a step at a time, just sort the baby thing then your aunt and uncle. You can stay here as long as you like forget the rent.” Day said not wanting Nash to stress about anything else before he had to.
A baby was one thing, but marriage was crazy. “Nash you can do the right thing by the baby without tying yourself to her for life. Come on, you can’t marry someone you don’t love dude.” Day said knowing that Nash would do what was right, but marriage to Michelle would destroy him. “What about whats right for you?”

"They check them out, but you still hear the horror stories. People can lie...or even if they arent jerks and actually are decent people, what if they just never bond with the kid? What if they have some of their own and don't love this one just as much? " Nash went over the possible scenarios with Daylan as they popped into his head. It was hard to think over something as monumental as this. Nothing seemed to make sense. It was more like a nightmare he was still waiting to wake up from.
His eyes saddened as Day asked him the important question. Did he want to be a dad right now. "Day...I didnt think I'd even be thinking about if I'd want to be a father for another 10 or 20 years. I'm not ready. I don't think I can be one, even if I did want to...which I'm not sure I do" He said knowing it was a scary thought, taking on all that responsibility. As soon as he mentioned the idea of abortion he knew that it was a serious decision, and one he couldn't take lightly. "I know...its not something I could undo if I regret it...but if I wait too long, we can't do it either" He said knowing either way he was screwed.
Nash took a deep breath and nodded, trying to let Day help him sort things out, dealing with the baby before his aunt and uncle. "Thanks" He said again as Day offered for him to stay as long as he wanted.
Nash could see Day was against the marriage proposal, but it seemed to make sense if he was going to consider keeping the kid. "If we keep the baby, doesn't it mean I'm tied to her already for life? Wouldn't the right thing then be to give the child two parents who are married? I mean Michelle and I get along, I like her, and she's pretty cute...I'm sure if I dont love her I could probably get there someday"
