Khalida hated to walk during the day. In Afghanistan Khalida had loved the hot sun, gratefully receiving every day that allowed her to do her chores in the warm, tender glow. But that was a different lifetime, now it made her nervous. She knew what her skin did upon contact with the sun’s fingers and this was why she preferred to travel at night. Anonymity meant survival. However, in this strange, wet place called Forks – Khalida still wasn’t entirely sure how to pronounce it – the sun rarely made an appearance so her times for traveling was less restricted. Khalida wore a baggy pair of jeans, an uncomfortably tight hot pink t-shirt that said something in English – she didn’t know what – and a headscarf fashioned from a bed sheet. Khalida had stolen it from someone’s back yard, along with a few other articles of clothing, and had torn the sheet into suitable lengths so that she needent worry about constantly trying to find a face covering. The task was frustrating and Khalida would at times consider going without a headscarf and walking with her face bare. The idea felt too shameful however, so it never was put to action. The Afghan vampire walked nervously through Forks' maze of streets. To a resident of the small town the streets were easy to navigate, Khalida, however, had never before entered the area and was now incomprehensibly lost. She crossed one street and immediately paused, glancing up the populated avenue. Though she had just fed, Khalida did not want to risk walking amongst the English speaking citizens should she lose herself to bloodlust. She turned and walked back across the cross walk, hurrying out of an impatient drivers way. Khalida looked left, then right, then forward and eventually lifted her crimson eyes to the sky. She knew not to pray to her God, nor any others as such divine entities would not help a monster such as herself. So Khalida made do with hoping for some sort of sign that would allow her to escape the area and stop her from creating a massacre. ((TAG: Angela ))

Angela had walked to school that day since her house wasn't more than a few miles from the school. The town was so small that none of the houses were overly far from the school. She didn't mind walking and even enjoyed it on occasion. It saved her the hassle of trying to get out of the school parking lot when everyone tried to leave at once. She wasn't an aggressive driver so it would take her at least 10 minutes to leave most days when she drove.
As she was walking back home after school that day, she had reached about the middle of town (if Forks were to have a middle). It was near a few of the busier cross sections and was the point at which most of the line of student cars would begin to disperse to their respective locations. She reached one corner where she saw a woman looking around her, and then up to the sky. She wasn't anyone who Angela recognized (and in a small town like this, everyone did know everyone, at least by sight), and she looked like she might be lost.
Angela slowly approached the woman, not wanting to startle her. "Excuse me?" She said quietly. "Do you need help finding your way? "
((OOC: what timeframe do you want this to be?))

Khalida heard the approaching footsteps of a human and immediately stopped breathing. She hoped to simply blend into the background, knowing full well that with her face covering she tended to stand out from the crowd. Sure enough the human, a girl by the sounds of her voice, said something in English. Khalida turned around, her crimson eyes hovering over the girl’s form, and carefully avoiding staring at where the blood pumped firmly in her neck.
The Afghan vampire shrugged her shoulders, obviously embarrassed, “No, umm… No…Inglisi.” She said, using the Pashtun word for English. She shrugged her shoulders again, and took a small step back. Khalida was aware that she would have to make a decision soon about which way she wanted to go. At the moment, any where that took her away from the young human seemed like the best answer.
((Ohh! Right, sorry, totally forgot. Hmm Early Twilight I guess? Work for you?))

(Yep! that works for me!)
As the woman looked down at her, her face covering seemed to make her eyes stand out even more to Angela. Such a peculiar color. She had never seen red eyes before, except maybe in pictures of albino children which this woman didn't seem to be. Angela found her eyes very interesting, yet at the same time she didn't want to take another step forward. To her own mind, she assumed this was because she didn't want to invade the woman's personal space.
She then heard the woman tell her she didn't know English. "Oh..." She said sullenly, trying to figure out how to ask the woman if she needed directions without using English. She pointed down two of the directions for different streets and then looked at her questioningly. "Do you know which way you're headed? " She asked hoping between her miming it and the words something might go through. She tried to quickly think of who in town might understand her language. No one really studied language extensively in Forks, it wasn't necessary.

Khalida lifted her eyes for a moment and quickly dropped them again, aware that Angela was staring at her crimson irises. She reached up to tug her face covering higher up the bridge of her nose, her fingers elegantly plucking at the thin material. She glanced up once again to watch the English-speaking girl wave her hands about and ask Khalida something. The vampire stared without blinking for a long moment, lifting her head further to glance up and down the streets that the girl had indicated. There was something odd about the action, something unnatural in the way that Khalida had moved so quickly and yet gathered all the information that she seemed to need.
She shrugged and it seemed somehow graceful. “Shuma Dari gap mayzanee?” Khalida switched over to Dari and asked if the girl knew the language. She highly doubted it by the perplexed look that had flitted across her face when Khalida had spoken Pashto, but hey, it was worth a try.
Khalida thought suddenly that if this girl could point her in the direction of a land mark familiar to the vampire, then she would at least be able to find her bearings. The Afghan vampire pointed to herself then raised her hand to shade her eyes and mimed looking about. Next she drew a large box in the air. “Tayin,” She said and looked meaningfully at the girl. “Umm…W-el-cum F-or-k?” Khalida asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as the foreign words tripped from her tongue. Again Khalida drew the box, repeating “Welcum Fork tayin. Aayaa mefahmed?” Her air was running out however and quite soon Khalida would have to take another breath. She only hoped that she should lose herself to the monster, that she be able to escape Forks quickly.
((‘Tayin’ means ‘sign’, Khalida is trying to talk about the Welcome to Forks sign. And ‘aayaa mefahmed’ means ‘do you understand?’))

Angela realized that she had been staring when she saw the woman lifting the material that covered the lower half of her face to bring it up higher. Angela lowered her eyes immediately, hoping that she hadn't insulted the woman. She was obviously very religious and of a culture that Angela was afraid she didn't have much personal experience with. She would feel horrible if she had somehow offended this woman.
Angela then watched the woman shrug her shoulders and speak again, something else that Angela didn't understand, but that sounded a bit different than how she had been speaking before. Angela didn't know what she was trying to ask her, so ended up just looking at her with a helpless look, as she tried to figure something out.
Angela then stared at her as she seemed to mime out a square into the air. Her eyes then lit up with recognition as she figured out what she was asking for. "Oh! The Welcome to Forks sign!" She said excited. "I can take you there" She offered, waving her hands in a welcoming manner.
