((Early Twilight. Tag James, everyone else welcome.))
The warm, crimson blood trickled down Victoria's pale chin as she leaned back from satisfying her thirst. A slender hand rose to wipe it away, but as her bright red eyes caught the sight of it she couldn't help herself, and snaked her tongue out to lick it from her fingers. It had been too long since she last drank, and in her frenzy she created quite the mess that now lay before her at her knees. The girl was only about fourteen, perhaps fifteen, and barely put up a fight in defense. Victoria normally didn't like easy kills, there wasn't much fun involved, but tonight she was too desperate to give a damn. Blood covered the front of her shirt and stuck in her hair, creating the appearance that she had been attacked. She figured she would have to do something about that before going out in public again.
Sitting back, she rested her weight on her hands and tilted her head back, letting her eyes slip shut as she reveled in the sensation that coursed through her. It had been too long since they hunted last, and she was glad the burning ache in her throat was gone, even temporarily. Feeding was an extremely satisfying feeling, and it almost equaled eating a Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey, potatoes, stuffing and gravy after being starved for weeks. Not that Victoria would stoop so low admit that a human feeling equaled anything she felt now.
The dark alley was deserted, not a sound as far as her heightened senses could hear. Humans were clumsy by default anyway, and she would have plenty of time to depart before anyone found her within a 2 mile radius of the dead girl. James and Laurent were off somewhere else hunting for their own prey, and Victoria had no doubt that tomorrow's news would be filled with the three grisly murders that occured overnight in the wonderful city of Seattle. Idiotic humans, they had no idea. Besides, she had a right to eat - it just so happens human is always on her menu.
She sat there for some time afterwards, still in the same position, just enjoying the taste of blood that lingered in her mouth. She was tempted to lean forward and take another taste, but by now the blood would be cold, dead, and it would do no good. So she resisted, knowing James and Laurent would show up sooner or later, and they would be off again.

There was no strategy tonight, just the feed. James, Victoria and Laurent had spent more than than necessary crossing the wood of the Canadian border. The forests were devoid of any human life signs, and all they encountered were the repulsive game. None of them would ever stoop that low. Well, maybe Laurent who, after so many decades of traveling, was still averse to the entertainment he and Victoria made for themselves on a hunt. When they'd heard the first signs of civilization, they'd agreed to split up and meet in Seattle. Slipping in and out of shadows, James knew that Victoria and Laurent's hunt would be straightforward. Just because they were in a crowded city where they was a higher risk of exposure didn't mean James couldn't have at least a little fun.
James saw the boy in sweatpants and a wife beater, running gracefully down the road of a smaller suburb. Closing his eyes, he took in the sweet aroma slowly, a grin appearing on his face. The boy was an athlete. He was running at a steady pace, but his heart was strong and slower than it would have been for a beginning runner. As he passed the section of undeveloped land, where James had been watching in the trees, James had slipped out and ran slowly to keep pace with the boy until he noticed him. The boy jerked his head and stared in shock. "Wanna race?" James asked the boy in a simple friendly tone, as if asking him for directions. The boy stopped in his tracks and quickly ran the opposite way, effectively running straight into James arms. His end was swift and clean. James felt his strength returning to him as he hid the boy and left for Seattle.
It wasn't long before he'd caught Victoria's scent and only minutes until he found her feeding. Ah, Victoria. James had traveled many years alone, refining his strategy and prowess in the hunt. It wasn't until he'd met Victoria that he'd realized that he'd been in complete. It was fate that had brought her and her power to him. Together, they made an unstoppable hunting party. Approaching her slowly, he grinned at her appearance. "Seems like I can't take you anywhere anymore," he'd chided. "Always making a mess."

Victoria didn't jump in surprise when James spoke, her ears picked up on his sound of arrival several moments before. She continued to lounge in the alley, the dead girl still at her feet. If anyone were witness to the sight they surely would have assumed her clinically insane. His scent soon followed, and she found herself yearning to see him again despite only being separated for a few hours. They were more than just a team, they were a part of each other.
She let a low, musical chuckle escape past her ruby lips. She pictured in her mind what she must look like, blood caked in her flaming red hair and dried on the front of her shirt. Yes, she had created quite the mess, but it was completely worth it. There would always be other times to play with her food, tonight was not the night. Fullfilling her need to drink was all that counted. She didn't think the teenage girl would've been much sport anyway, cowardly little thing. So fragile, and so..... boring.
"Mmmm," she purred, her voice delicate yet seductively deep. She opened her eyes at last to reveal the bright crimson irises beneath to look at him, "Face it, James. You enjoy seeing me covered in some dead woman's blood. Besides, we both know its a little more fun when you're a little more reckless."
Pushing herself up, she got to her feet with catlike grace and sauntered a few steps towards him. Raising a curved brow, she eyed his apperance, a little surprised he kept himself so composed as to not make a mess. "I see you're quite.... presentable. Didn't feel like letting loose tonight?"

She was right. There was something exhilirating about his mate when she ravished her hunt, devouring her lifeforce without mercy. He marveled at her beauty that lured and prowess that was only trumped by his own. He eyed the crimson streak on her shirt in appreciation, his deep red eyes flickering between the evidence of her kill and the red eyes that matched his own. "I'm just sorry I missed the whole show," he conceded. She knew him like no one else did, as he did her.
He let her look him over, knowing that his clean appearance was uncommon. "As presentable as can be expected, I suppose. He was an easy kill," he said casually. He could have been retelling an anecdote at a cocktail party. "Besides, we have plenty of time to make things interesting." They'd already spent decades hunting in the shadows. There was nothing that could stop them. James with his uncanny ability to sense his prey and Victoria with her attraction to safety in case anything went wrong. They were gods among the immortal.

Victoria sighed rather dramatically, placing a pale hand on her hip and looking down at the body that lay still as ever in the alley. "She wasn't much fun," she pouted. Lifting a foot, she nudged the girl's shoulder with her toe for the hell of it, finding the body stiff under her pressure. "Barely put up a stink. There wouldn't of been much to watch, unfortunately."
Victoria nodded in response to James' statement of making thing interesting, knowing that they would have forever - literally - to fully let loose and invent new ways of playing with their food. Their hunting strategies changed over the decades as society changed. You didn't have to be as discreet fifty years ago when the odds of solving a random murder were virtually nil, compared to now where they had technology that told them practically everything from a drop of blood. Hunting was getting more difficult, especially in the cities, but that just made it all that more exhilarating.
A sudden thought filled her mind and she turned back to face James. "Have you seen Laurent anywhere? He'll be done soon, I should think. He plays with his food even less than me when he's hungry."

Amused, James watched Victoria express her disappointment in her lackluster prey. He knew the feeling. Though he did add his own little twist to the poor boy he'd taken, the whole ordeal had been entirely too short. The truth was that humans were disgustingly disadvantaged against them; it made them boring sometimes. It was why Victoria and himself were so easily immersed into a more challenging quests. It gave them a purpose; a stage to display their talents. Surely, it was why they had them in the first place, otherwise it would have all gone to waste. James closed the short distance between him and Victoria swiftly and pulled up her chin in an uncharacteristically human gesture. "Don't worry, we're still heading south," he whispered. He caught scent of the dead girl's blood still lingering in her breath and emanating from her shirt. he inhaled slowly and deeply, relishing the aroma as it mixed with Victoria's distinct, sweet smell. "I have a feeling we'll find something worthwhile," he added.
His own thoughts reached hers when she mentioned their third coven member, Laurent. "He's somewhere out there, probably asking permission," he said, pulling back away from her and laughing. While Laurent had his uses, he was still considerably tame compared to James. James saw it as a weakness, and sometimes as a handicap. He often made his thoughts known; Laurent usually did not find it worthwhile to contest against the savage leader, especially with Victoria at his side.

Victoria purred deep in her throat as James approached her, the sound so low it wouldn't be audible to human ears. She allowed him to tilt her face up towards his, her bright red eyes meeting his of the same colour. He was stronger than her anyway, it wasn't like she could've resisted his touch, not that she would want to. She secretly reveled in the moment, knowing he wasn't a very tender person and displays like these came few and far between.
"South?" She repeated his words, mulling it over in her head and getting a feel for it, "Sounds good to me. Promise you'll find me something to enjoy? I'm getting tired of the same old kills day after day.. there has to be something interesting out there." Victoria's eyes seemed to sparkle then, her interest caught on daydreaming about a true thrill that could possibly be in their path of destruction.
She was brought back to earth when James stepped away and mentioned Laurent. "Hmm," she huffed, rolling her eyes as she thought about his hunting skills. He was too much of a conversationalist and far too polite. Did humans ask the cows permission to eat them? Victoria was less vocal about it in front of Laurent as James was, but she was just as impatient. Since he joined their coven, their time designated for hunting was extended and it ate away at the little bit of patience she had left. But a third member had its advantages. As a group, they were considerably stronger.

Grinning at Victoria's response, James found satisfaction on many fronts. These little 'moments' always made her responsive and fortified their bond. She was meant to be with him, his partner in the hunt for eternity. If he had to delve into unecessary displays to keep her there, loyal and at his beck and call, then he would do them. He would never admit it to anyone, much less himself, but he needed her. It wasn't so much to stand by him in an united front of perfection, but on a deeper level that he would never understand. He believed it was their calling to walk the earth as an unstoppable force of hunters, seeking out the strong and destroying them in order to prove that they were yet stronger. It was a dose of euphoria to overpower one's prey and claim their life; since Victoria had joined him, this widespread drug effect had more potency and seductive power over him.
Yes, they would go south. They had remained in the Northern Hemisphere for a number of weeks, and only had few hunts that were worth their energy. The south would be something refreshing. The way the human smell clung to the humidity in the air, the way humans became restless and panicked in extreme heat, making their hearts beat faster, their blood warmer; it raised the stakes. "South," he reiterated, sealing his resolve.
As they pulled away from each other and expressed their muted frustration with Laurent, James wondered how much longer they would travel together. While the irritation James sometimes felt towards him, he admitted that it was useful to have him around. His role was more pertinent when encountering other covens. Laruent had a more civil disposition and a tongue for diplomacy, he was more gifted, and inclined, to keep the peace between their fellow immortals. In exchange, he always had the satisfation of a successful hunt under Jame's direction. It was an uneven exchange, James admitted, but it would suffice for him now. It was only Laurent's occasional protests against his and Victoria's more 'entertaining' traps that were tiresome to hear from him.
"Let's hunt," he suggested with a little grin to Victoria as if it would correct all the wrongs. He pushed the thoughts around Laurent away. If he wanted to be oversensitive about it, he could go and find a nun to confess to on his own time.

Victoria grinned an incredibly feline-like smirk, her wandering thoughts focusing back on the South. She wished then that she could read James' thoughts, because she was almost positive he was thinking the same things as her. Up north, the cold was so intense it caused the humans to move more slowly, to be less preylike and more food on a platter. No wonder the Denali's drank from the blood of animals, at least they would be some sport. The heat in the south made things so much more interesting. The high temperature made their minds hazy but their bodies limber. James and Victoria's games would be put to good use there.
"Let's hunt," James had said. And despite already quenching her thirst just an hour prior she felt the burning in her throat begin to make itself more known the more she thought about another hunt. It never really went away completely, no matter how much she would drink, but the more she daydreamed about it the more it seemed to ache. A calling. An irresistable instinct.
And it was then, while she let her mind wander over different methods of murder, that an incredibly unsettling feeling overwhelmed her. She stood stock still, her gaze unfocused but staring straight ahead at the dark street that connected with the alleyway. She knew the feeling at once, recognized it as a human would recognize their instinct to flee.
"We have to go regardless," Victoria said, her eyes finally refocusing and darting to look over at James. Her sensitive hearing picked up nothing, everything was completely silent as it should be. But her mind was telling her to leave, to disappear as soon as she possibly could. "Come, we have to go."

James had already started to project his senses further out from the pair of them to determine if anything particularly sweet was nearby. If they were going to have some fun while Laurent decided to tip his waitress, it might as well be something tasty. His throat had taken on the familiar burning sensation that always brought him to action. He was just about to suggest a the exit of a local restaurant that he'd seen on his way to find her. Humans tended to smell sweeter after certain meals, and their metabolisms working at full force to enforce digestion was usually accompanied by a strong, deliberate heartbeat. It made them lethargic, at times, when they overindulged, but it was an occasional taste that was nice to feast upon.
Just as he was about to take her hand and lead the way, he felt her stiffen in place; her eyes focusing past them. He hadn't sense a thing nearby, but his senses worked differently from her at times. Confirming his suspicions, he hissed softly but fiercely as his muscles automatically tensed to defend himself. It was unnecessary since he knew from experience that Victoria's guide usually gave them more than enough time to escape, but his own instincts urged him to turn and defend head on. Deciding that it was best to be discreet since they had already hunted in this street, he nodded at Victoria, knowing she would lead the way.

The uneasiness continued to grow in Victoria's mind by the second, and she knew this was no longer a safe haven. Someone was going to pass through the alleyway and discover the body, and James and Victoria needed to be far away from the scene of the crime. They were thrill seekers and loved to cause a wave of panic in a city as large as Seattle, but they were smart enough to realize that exposing their kind would only lead to their deaths. The Volturi weren't so lenient in matters such as those.
Not wasting any time, she spun on her heel and took off running down the other end of the alley, not bothering to take James' hand as he could easily keep up with her. Not only stronger, but he was also a faster runner than her. Envy coursed through her everytime he overtook her own footsteps, but now he had to follow her. Only she knew where to go.
Her quick, light footsteps took her through many back streets, moving so fast that human eyes couldn't see. Many old streetlamps were burnt out leaving the area in pitch darkness, but it did nothing to hinder her in her flight. Victoria's eyes were far superior to any human's, which was another reason on her long list of why vampires were rightfully on the top of the food chain. That, and many others.
Suddenly a feeling of calm overwashed her senses and she slowed her pace, eventually coming to a stop near the outskirts of the city. The booming of a nightclub could be heard in the distance and the roaring of the freeway wasn't far off. All of her instincts telling her to run were gone, replaced by a comforting feeling that could be felt throughout her body. She turned around, knowing James would be there - he was always there. It was impossible to shake a skilled tracker off your tail.
"All right," she said, a small smirk tugging at the edge of her lips. "This is better.."

Laurent strolled the streets checking for any tasteful scents. He had gone farther out than he ad told Victoria and James and so now Laurent was running late. He wasn't a picky eater, he usually chose his prey quickly, fed, and left before the humans came; but tonight he was exceptionally famished and decided to find something to fill his desire for blood. Laurent walked until he came across an arousing scent that made his mouth begin to water. Laurent saw a girl, she looked about 25 and was walking alone. She carried a key chain that had pepper-spray attached to it.
Laurent took in the girl's scent; her blood smelled of strawberries and Laurent was keen to have a taste. He climbed swiftly up a nearby tree and waited. The girl soon passed the tree and Laurent hopped down loud enough for the human to hear him. She jumped and grabbed her key chain, holding the pepper-spray out to him. Laurent rolled his crimson eyes at the human, he didn't like to play with his food and wanted the hunt to be over with as soon as possible. Laurent smiled kindly at the girl and attacked her too fast for her to react.
Once Laurent was well fed he decided he should go and find James and Victoria. Laurent strode quickly toward Seattle and it wasn't long until he caught the scent of the other Nomads. Laurent found himself on top of a building staring down at a deserted alleyway. The only thing down there that he could spot was the body of a young girl. He heard the footsteps of a human approaching and concluded that James and Victoria must of found someplace safe to go. He followed the trail of their scent and spotted them both in the outskirts of Seattle. "Hello," Laurent said, "Are you guys finished with Seattle? Should we move to another town, or continue hunting here?" Laurent was one to stay in one place for long, and wanted to leave before the murders in this city became too high for the humans normal death toll.

Though James was considered the leader and his coven members didn't hesitate to follow him, he was wise enough to know when it was time for him to follow another. Keeping close to Victoria, he allowed her to find them a safer spot. It would be just as easy to just kill whatever being had crossed their path and discovered them hovering over the girl Victoria had fed on, but too many deaths in the same spot would become suspicious. Discretion was more important, sometimes even more important than them having their way. Their escape was quick and effortless, James waited for Victoria's unique senses to indicate that they were now away from anything that would expose them.
Stood in front of Victoria, smirking again, but he was reassessing the new surroundings, on the edge of the bustling city, taking in the tempting sounds of civilization nearby. The night club sounded like it could be interesting. The highway would result in too much attention. And then there was always the random straggler they might encounter somewhere in between. As he was about to suggest one of these, his ears picked up the lightest of footsteps approaching them... fast. But it only took him a fraction of a second to recognize the step and speed to match it to their third coven member, Laurent. He couldn't decide if this was good yet. He was hoping to play a little with Victoria, but Laurent's arrival set them up for their departure. The small discussion he'd had with Victoria about it had made him partial to the idea, and he was ready to set trail right away. He nodded to Laurent. "We're done if you are," he told him, taking Victoria's hand to set to run. "We'll head South this time."

Victoria had been contemplating whether or not an intoxicated human would be enough to satisfy her lust for excitement, but the idea of a nightclub seemed too sweet to pass up. Aside from the large quantities of alcohol and drugs being shared and consumed, the general feel of a rave was almost enough to drag Victoria from her spot. From where she stood, she could already feel the overwhelming sense of desire course through her. Raves were incredibly personal, very much too close for comfort, but they were also hot, loud and intoxicating. She shivered in anticipation, about to tell James that the nightclub was her choice for the night.
But then a familiar sound of approach filtered in her ears, and she was immediately and intensely disappointed. Laurent was back, which meant their games for the night were over. She felt like pouting, but she wouldn't lower herself to that in front of their third coven member. It usually always got her what she wanted, but that involved a different subject matter altogether.
She nodded to Laurent, acknowledging his presence and therefore, their departure. She kept silent, casting a glance towards James, wondering if he felt the same as she did. He took her hand in his in preparation for their travel, and she squeezed harder than normal to silently express her current mood. She tried to get past that, knowing that it wasn't the only nightclub in America. Perhaps the south would have something interesting. Victoria shook her head, snapping her thoughts away from hunting as it only caused a burning in her throat to increase, and focused on the run ahead.

Laurent began to run with Victoria and James. So they were headed south. Laurent wondered what would be ahead for their little tour around the world. Laurent turned his head slightly toward James and said in a normal tone, as the running did not make Laurent tired, "Anywhere in particular James? I'm open to anything." Laurent grinned and sped up a bit. James and Victoria were faster than Laurent and so he had trouble keeping up with their incredible speed sometimes.
Laurent checked his surroundings after five minutes of running. They were in the woods, what woods...Laurent wasn't quite sure. He could smell animal blood around him. It was not nearly as appealing as that of a human, but still pleasant to smell on his run. Laurent's crimson eyes searched around the woods, though it was night, Laurent could see everything around him. It was as if he had night vision goggles permanently attached to him, this was one of the many benefits to being a vampire.
As Laurent ran he began to think. He wondered if he would ever live somewhere. Some vampires, like the Volturi, had permanent residences and sometimes that sounded like a good idea to Laurent. He enjoyed being a nomad, not having to settle anywhere; but other times, Laurent had thought how nice it would be to find his soul mate someplace and live permanently with her. He hadn't shared this thought with the other nomads, they only traveled with him for convenience, and weren't really concerned on his thoughts and feelings. Plus, Victoria and James had each other, they would not know the feeling of being a lone nomad.
