Carmen laughed lightly, lifting one of her slender hands up to her lips to cover the noise as Eleazar mentioned that missing the toddler years might be a relief. However, she knew what it was like to feel so much a part of somebody that missing even the briefest of moments was a pain in the heart. It was why human parents took such delight in all the milestones of development and Nessie had rushed through so much of it. Oh she was certain that neither Edward nor Bella would trade their daughter for anything else in the world, and their immortal existence made it so that they had so much to look forward for. Still, those early years were so fleeting, but that was true of so much.
“But don’t we all want some moments back to relive over again?” she put out, talking to neither of them in particular as her golden gaze glazed over to think of another time; the quiet suburbs of a small Spanish town, an overcast day, herself and Eleazar’s first marriage just after they had decided to leave Volterra for good. That was a moment that she replayed over to herself many a time in her head and she was thankful for her vampiric memory keeping it so fresh for all eternity.
Abashed by her near slip up, Carmen’s head had bowed a fraction, though she certainly didn’t ashamed of herself. It wasn’t that she disapproved of Siobhan’s lifestyle, nor would she want to enforce her own beliefs on the other vampire; it was more a thought that she would discuss openly with her sisters in the relative freedom of their home in Denali. Perhaps after so long isolated in the north (despite her and Eleazar’s relatively frequent trips away) she had grown unused to mixed company. “A quiet life is a good one to most simple souls.”

Siobhan agreed totally and Elezar's words were so true as well. At Carmen's light laugh Siobhan smiled brightly, a glimmer of fang visible. She too laughed lightly, but didn't try to hide it as she still smiled and nodded lightly, "Aye, it is true. I have seen enough of the tantrums in my years.. They aren't missing a thing by passing those. But aye, the moments with a wee are never enough as is, to grow up so fast? Nessie is smart I agree but still it is sad on Edward and Bella's half. So much they have.. and will miss if Nessie keeps on at this rate." The woman said her accent thick in her voice, as she didn't bother to hide some of her Irish words as they slipped out into her speech.
Nodding lightly, "Aye, so very true." Siobhan agreed with Carmen. She could think of a few moments she want back too. Some more pleasant and sweet than others, but still ones she would have relived if she were given the chance to do so.
The Irish vampyre looked at Carmen, she had a pretty good idea where it was heading too but didn't speak. She was well aware of the vegetarian lifestyle the Cullen's and others took up. She had no ill thoughts or feelings of them. That was their life. She understood the choice to choose to feed from animals rather than human. It was just something she'd never made the switch to. She had in her years tried animal blood, but it just wasn't as rich and appealing as human blood. Watching Carmen's head as she bowed it a little, she didn't look ashamed, yet in some ways seemed sorry of it at least in the bow of her head. Siobhan tipped her head lightly in attempt to meet the woman's eyes. "Don't worry your pretty little head. I took no offense to that. Now nor will I ever." She told her lightly then let it drop. She too would have never pushed her beliefs or views upon any other vampyre. Most who she was around drank human blood. So much sweeter she thought, but that was a matter best left discussed no farther. No offense in the least was taken of Carmen's words or of the lifestyle that she or Elezar lead. "Aye, let us hope. There are two many of out kind who have yet to learn those lessons." Nodding again to Carmen's words she replied lightly, "That it is, but sadly enough the life we lead isn't always quiet."

Eleazar smiled as he listened to the two women laughing at his previous comment. It was always comforting for him to see their kind getting along well and not at odds with each other. He had seen enough of that in Volturi. Eleazar then nodded as the women both agreed that there was still alot which Edward and Bella would miss from Nessie's accelerated growth rate. "I'm sure she will have unique milestones of her own to make up for the ones that've passed by"
Eleazar also couldnt help but think back on his own life as his wife mentioned moments they would all like to go back to and relive. All of them involved Carmen. He was content however to have eternity to spend with her, if they couldn't relive the moments of the past.
He felt a little tense for a moment after Carmen's almost slip and carefully watched the other vampire's reaction, hoping she hadn't upset her too much. He smiled lightly as she stated she took no offense to her words. He had much respect for the Irish Coven, her behavior only added to it. Eleazar nodded solemnly as Siobhan stated how the life they led wasn't always quiet. Their being called to be witness for the Cullens was evidence of that. "That's very true" He said with a nod.

Carmen nodded to her husband’s astute point that there would be other milestones for the Cullens to look forward to; it would be foolish to consider the development of a vampire hybrid strictly in human terms. Another slight twinge of sadness affected her as she considered what happy times that Edward and Bella had to go through, knowing that she and Eleazar would never experience anything like them. It didn’t last long, though, and manifested itself merely in a slight increase of pressure on her husband’s hand for a moment or so. She knew her lot in life well by now and she was perfectly happy to share it with Eleazar and her sister in Alaska.
As she looked up from the little bow of apology, she smiled in response to Siobhan’s own, happy that the Irish woman hadn’t taken offence. Impressed at her tolerance of other ideas than her own, Carmen’s estimation of the Irish coven went up. If only the rest of their kind shared her ability to live and let live. It shouldn’t have surprised her that a good acquaintance of Carlisle would possess these qualities, though, she thought, he was a good judge of character and seemed to inspire the best in people, as the rest of his family did.
“But so long as we all promote our own bit of peace where we are, we can but set an example for those to come,” she added, optimistically to the solemn turn of the conversation. “The altercation with the Volturi themselves didn’t end in violence. I suppose the threat is not altogether gone, but it could have been much worse…”
