Ariana pulled in to the parking lot of Forks High School. As she drove down the aisles of cars, she thought about how the day would go. It was a cold, rainy August day, but Ariana's cheeks felt warm with anticipation. She wished for a moment that her car did not stand out from the older model Fords and Chevys, but she loved the metallic pink of her Nissan. Looking out of the rain streaked windshield, Ariana saw a group of students laughing and joking. She wondered if it would be easy to make friends due to the small size of the school, or if the tight knit community would make her an outsider.
Ariana whipped the small, pink car into a parking spot near the front door of the school. With a deep breath and one last look in the mirror, she opened the car door and stepped out into the refreshing rain. Her arrival had not gone unnoticed; curious eyes scanned from the car to the new, nervous looking girl. Ariana's cheeks turned blood red, almost the same color as her hair, her mind told her to keep walking and smiling, but her gut told her to climb back into the safety of the car and pull away as if she were a lost visitor. She walked towards the doors of the school, fearing future regret of her decision.

Paige had her the earplugs of her ipod in as she walked to school, pulling her jacket around her a little closer as she felt the chill of the wind hit her. At least it wasn't snowing, she didnt mind the rain too much (though of course would prefer the better weather) but the snow was the worst to walk to school in. She couldnt wait til she got a car.
As she walked through the parking lot she couldnt help but spot a small pink car near the front door. It was a pretty car and one she knew she would have noticed before if it had been there. Either there was a new kid, or someone got a new car. Paige stopped when she reached the door watching he redhead who exited the car. Definitely a new person. She saw the nervousness clearly on the girls face and felt bad for her. She knew it would have to be tough changing schools in high school. Paige waited there deciding to be friendly. As the girl walked over, Paige smiled.
"Hi, you're new right?" She said, not at all shy to strike up a conversation with a stranger. "I'm Paige, awesome car!"

Ariana turned at the voice behind her. The girl she saw seemed friendly and it was a relief to see a smile. "It's that obvious?", Ariana said with a laugh, "Hi, I'm Ariana, it's nice to meet you." Ariana explained how she had recently moved to Forks with her family. When she thought the day might turn out to be tolerable, she dropped her bag, sending the contents out into the pouring rain. "Great," Ariana mumbled. Adding insult to injury Ariana's car alarm blared through the air when a truck parked near it.
Shutting off the alarm and gathering her things, Ariana was surprised to see another set of hands helping her. Why hadn't the girl escaped while she could and acted as if she had never seen the new kid before. "Um.. Thank you, really but you don't have to you'll be late and..." Ariana's sentence trailed off as she blushed when she saw Paige's friendly smile.

"Just a little, but don't worry, not everyone here is that observant" Paige said not wanting the girl to think that she stuck out. It was just one of the things about living in a small town. Everyone pretty much knew everyone else. By sight alone if not by name. "Nice to meet you too Ariana" She replied as she learned the new girl's name. "Oh! Let me hel p you with that" She sid as the girl spilled her bag onto the ground.
Paige bent down and started picking up some of the items, hoping to get as many as she could before the rain got to them. " You're welcome and its fine, I won't be that late and if I am its not the first time" She said not minding at all.
