Baya's hesitation had nothing to do with actually debating wanting his presence or not. She wanted him to spend the time with her more strongly than she had remembered ever wanting it before. She was certain she did want him there, but his motivations confused and worried her. Maybe she should just let it play out, and stop overanalyzing things, but knowing what he had said about being sick it was hard for her not to worry about him, especially when she was caring for him more and more each time she saw him.
She liked seeing the grin play across his face as she mentioned the dog drool, pleased that he hadnt just rolled his eyes at her and thought her joke immature, even if it was. The grin looked good on him. She smiled as he mentioned not having seen her dog Dexter in awhile. "I'm sure he'll be happy to see you" She nodded as he suggested she lead the way and headed towards her house, now further away from the reservation school. "So, do you have anything else planned for the afternoon?" She said both making conversation and wondering how long she had with him. The idea of him leaving soon suddenly made her feel nervous and unsettled.

Reid couldn't imagine Baya's dog really caring for him much. He had only seen him a few times, and Reid had mainly ignored him, which was something dogs generally didn't forgive. So, he knew Baya wasn't making much sense when she said that Dex would enjoy seeing him. He knew as a type of canine himself, that Dex would instantly recognize him, but wondered if a better behavior would let him forget. Becoming friends with a dog had never been so important to him before, and here he was, trying to think of how to get to be Dex's new friend.
His smile falling a fraction when she asked about the rest of his day, Reid remembered that he actually couldn't stay as long as he would like. He had originally planned to spill his newly discovered guts to Baya and sweep her off her feet. He would blissfully return to the pack for his scheduled patrol before seeing her again. But now he had to make friends with her dog and return to the woods in misery with no explanation. "I have some errands to run in about two hours," he answered vaguely. He was going to ask Sam if there was any way he could patrol near Baya's home now that she was the most important thing to protect. "But I'll be around tomorrow if you wanna hang out," he added hopefully. He wanted to suggest things to do together, but he didn't want to force it on her. He wanted her to hang out with him too.

"Oh..." Baya replied a bit solemnly as Reid told her how he had to run errands in a couple hours. It sounded like an excuse to her, but she knew she might just be overly paranoid. It was a way for him to get out if the afternoon turned out to be a disaster; just remind her later how he already said he had plans and had to go. An easy exit. But then again, Reid always did have one foot already out the door. She tried to make herself give him the benefit of the doubt and believe he may have actually had other things to do. Then the guilt hit her, maybe he was on his way to a doctors appointment. Maybe he had come to her for a distraction beforehand, not wanting to dwell on his feelings of what was to come.
He confused her more by suggesting he'd be around tomorrow if she wanted to hang out. Did he actually want to see her, or had her reaction just seemed so pathetic that he felt he should give her a sympathy offer. She smiled back at him, thinking his facial expressions looked as though he might genuinely be interested in that. "Sure, if you want...and are up to it" She added, giving him a way out if he didnt really want to see her, but also concerned he may not be strong enough to go out two days in a row.

This was just getting too complicated, but for the moment, Reid couldn't find a way around it. He wanted to tell her everything then, but he needed her to trust him. As much as it frustrated him, he had to ditch his original plan and actually treat her like she should be treated. It wasn't difficult to do, he just wished he could do it without lying to her. "Of course," he answered. "I mean, it's summer. We have to enjoy it while it lasts. Soon enough we'll be getting snow all over again."
As they walked along a small road, Reid recognized where they were since La Push was very small, but realized that he never knew where Baya lived. "Where do you usually take Dex?" La Push and most of Forks was mainly wood and less domestication. He wondered what her usual route was, and hoped it didn't cross any paths where he and the other wolves had picked up vampire scents.

"Yeah, we should enjoy the time and the weather while we have it..." Baya said as she still tried to make sense of what was going on. She had to stop doubting his intentions, if he still wanted to make plans for future times together, she had to believe him that he was just busy now. He was allowed to be busy. She realized it was only mattering so much when he left because of how much she missed him lately when he wasn't around.
"We have a couple different routes" Baya told him as he asked where she took her dog when she walked him. "If I don't think it's too crowded or cold sometimes we'll go to the beach, he loves the water. If its just one of our normal walks we might go through one of the paths in the woods, give him plenty of trees to stop and stiff. Sometimes we'll just stay along the side of the road, see what's going on" She shrugged knowing it wasn't set in stone. "Where do you feel like going? "
